Did something similar to this when I was trying to lose weight and had started a new job. Would come home from food shopping and immediately wash all the produce and start cutting and blanching. I also did the poached chicken or cooked down some ground beef. For me half the battle of losing weight is reducing the amount of decisions I need to make about what to eat. Having a pressure cooker is a game changer! Cooking mutton becomes easy for my mom and saves time. A tip: Just use a wooden spoon to lift up the steam hole so you won't burn yourself.
@@Morgan-HD another tip, cut down on the salt but in the same breath grate the cucumber, leave on a plate, sprinkle with salt, after 5-10 mins squeeze out the water from the cucumber, then add it to your yoghurt, sour cream, pressed & choopped garlic & dill, than you shall have perfect sauce. When everyone submits comments you quickly become an expert chef. xx
This is the best meal prep video I've seen!!!! I always wanted to do it to save time feeding 5 people, but if they have pre made meals in the fridge, they won't eat it. This is absolutely doable!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤. I can't thank you enough 😊
A small comment on the pressure cooker - I love mine, which is actually the second I owned. Great things, especially for making your own stocks for soups, sauces, and the like. Highly recommended.
For the chicken breasts (or any poultry for that matter) an alternative is to brine the meat in the fridge for a few hours. A fully grown turkey will take a day, but it'll always stay juicy. You can even flavor your brine based on the type of meal you wanna make. Cloves, dried orange peels and thyme is a classic.
I grew up with old school pressure cooker, basically just a thick saucepan with a thick lid, gasket, valve and lock system. Apparently you do lose some nutritious value and color, but you cook anything pretty much twice as fast, sometimes thrice. Quite a dealbreaker. My mum often put the bottom part on the stove almost max gas on like a normal pan, turn on the kettle to get some water boiling, cut the meat and veggies directly above the pan (no extra cutting board to clean after) and by the time she was done cutting: it started browning, the pan was hot, and water ready to be put in and the whole thing was under pressure in less than a minute. Then you lower the flame to low and forget about it for a while, and boom it's done. Total active cooking time of maybe 15min including the cleaning of a knife and the cooker, but you got a massive dish that would have otherwise taken 30min of active cooking + lots of dirty dishes and hours to cook. The power of pressure and smart cooking is strong.
Same! I frequently use the old school pressure cooker and it’s specially good for fresh beans, beets and things that tend to be hard as fuck. Additionally, I love it for making soups and broths, does it much more quickly, more independently and the taste is a lot richer! I want to eventually buy a more sophisticated one because it IS dangerous if correct precautions aren’t taken while cooking/opening it. But I can’t imagine cooking something like birria without a pressure cooker at all.
I just wanted to take a moment to commend you on the incredible culinary creations you share with all of us. Your talent in the kitchen is truly inspiring, and the joy and love you put into your dishes are palpable. It's unfortunate that some people feel the need to comment on your appearance rather than appreciate the passion and skill you bring to your craft. Remember, their words say more about them than they do about you. Your dedication to cooking and sharing delicious food brings happiness to many, including myself. Please don't let the negativity of a few overshadow the positive impact you have on so many. Keep doing what you love and continue to spread that joy through your amazing food.
Your so funny! Don’t let the haters keep you down, we all struggle with things. Thank you for sharing and having the brilliant idea of prepping different items for different meals throughout the week! Smart. Stay strong and keep up the hard work.
The only thing i do different is im making sure as many containers as possible in my household are rectangular instead of cylidrical ones. You'd be surprised how much space it will save you in the fridge and how much easier it is to rearrange them as needed. Mostly bc all furniture in the kitchen is usually rectangular as well. No corner volume wasted.
Meal prepping this way seems more doable than what I have been trying, and failing, to do. This is awesome and makes 100% more sense to me. Loved the video.

I always feel encouraged in my move forward. I did the full meal prep and half went bad, which discouraged me for a bit. I dislike wasting food, but I prefer variety to same old all the time. After watching this video I hauled out all my storage containers and went through my crispers. Oh my goodness! After three hours I have everything prepped, relatively easy to see (I ordered some 16 oz deli containers.) It's great to know exactly how much fresh produce I have! Since I eat a lot of fish it will stay frozen or canned (in the fridge) until needed. Thank-you for your videos and the humorous and helpful posts. Your curiosity and honesty about recipes and cooking tips (Yes, I am also a victim of not using a mandolin guard. Lol) - well, keep it up!
I'm 69, I've been cooking since I was 11, and I'm learning so much from this young man. Kevin, you seem like such a sweet kid. Haters gonna hate. You have 4 million subscribers; you are definitely doing something right. You keep being you and those who don't like it can watch something else. There is nothing wrong with how you look. We aren't always made to be skinny, and those of us who are of Eastern European ancestry are often, shall we say, solidly built. I come from Eastern European peasant stock myself, in my case Polish and Russian Jews. Not everyone is built to be "heroin chic."
They have special cut resistance gloves that you can put on when you use a mandolin. Obviously the guard is the safest, but that is often inconvenient which I think is the reason why many people don't use it. One of those gloves is a nice compromise to add some safety to your mandolin experience.

I like this…and meal prepping in general!! Over the years, I’ve realized there are many styles of meal prepping. In different phases of my life, certain styles worked for me and my family and now I’ve phased them out. Currently, what works for me is making a double or triple batch of whatever I’m cooking; one for immediate cooking, and the other(s) for the freezer. Who knows, this style of prepping probably won’t last for the rest of my life, but it’s what works for now.😊
Dude, you are amazing. You are a great cook (even a Pakistani friend complimented you cooking saying you are pretty authentic with your food), you have a beautiful voice and such a chill aura. Dont let internet folks bring you down...some people just need that to feel better about themselves. Also im meal prepping like this for years...but i often freeze the prepped things. It takes a bit from the taste sometimes, but it allows you to not only get stuff done quicker, but also you can save money because you can by reduced stuff or bigger bags. Especially when you live alone, that's so important. I even have a large bag with pizza in parts, with self made frozen doe, tomate sauce, mushrooms and salami. For onions i reccomend large ice cube tray (with a lid!!) and a blender.
I am so afraid of getting a steam burn from my electric pressure cooker. I’ve always used the handle of a wooden spoon for the quick/manual release. Hope that helps you too.😊 I’m 9 mos. pregnant with my second child, and I think this way of meal prep is way more approachable for me, rather than the freezer meals or doing the compartment containers. My family won’t be able to help out with meals as much this time around so thanks for the inspo! You’re doing an amazing job.
Kevin- How long does your rice last when you cook it ahead? I've only been able to eat mine for 3 days before it starts tasting funky. FYI- I would date your prep meals when you label them. If you're anything like me, you might forget that you have something in the fridge & not know how old it is. I enjoyed this video very much. Thanks for posting it.
You can leave 2-day worth of rice in the fridge and keep the rest of the freshly cooked rice in the freezer. The Japanese have been doing it this way forever (search how Japanese keep rice in the freezer on YT if you may) and I do it on a regular basis too - when you microwave the frozen rice, it tastes pretty much the same as it's freshly cooked :)
You should only keep cooked rice for one more day. Old rice is NOT safe to eat! As the previous poster said, spread on a tray and freeze, then store in individual portions for fast rice.

Even if he were, it's not appropriate. The myth of ppl being obese because they just eat too much/don't take care of themselves enough is extremely hurtful. Studies have proven the vast majority of the time obesity is a symptom of a much bigger issue at hand, may it be health-related like an undiagnosed chronic problem or due to socio-economic factors such as food deserts. Ppl should be more considerate of others instead of pointing their finger at them.

This really changes how I think about meal prepping. I had naturally thought of this for myself by now I want to see what meals my wife and son would eat that can be arranged like this. Thanks!
@@Brainjoy01they sell users data and are overall shady. anyone that breaks user trust when it comes to such personal topics are not to be trusted period
I started meal prepping a couple of weeks ago and I ended up falling into almost this exact kind of arrangement. First week I went all in and made 5 of the same meals for lunch and breakfast, and by day 2 I was already finding myself mixing and matching all sorts of things or outright replacing stuff I prepared ahead of time with something I made the evening before. Eventually, yesterday's dinner would become tomorrow's lunch. To make it easier for me to make a meal quickly, I started cutting up meats, veggies, and fruits ahead of time. I create spice mixes ahead of time, and label them based on the approximate quantity of food that one container can adequately season (as well as ratios of spices). I went from taking at least an hour for making some tacos to only taking maybe 10 minutes at most, possibly even less, as I'm usually just reheating some meat I already cooked through, OR I'm finishing the cooking process out entirely from a batch of ALMOST cooked meat. I especially like doing this with things like breakfast burritos. Mince/dice/cut everything ahead of time, don't fully cook your eggs or meats, and you can assemble a breakfast burrito in record time where all you gotta do is microwave it for a couple of minutes and it's 100% ready to eat, and nothing is overcooked.
Mandolin's are awesome...but yes...very dangerous if not careful!! I agree - this kind of meal prep is the best. Dietary diversity is the key to wellness and enjoyment! Win win!

good mandolins are great. the problem is getting a sharp one. you also should have a little holder thingy with spikes so your hand isn't in the way. and if you are reeeeeally scared you can get those knifeproof gloves. protects you from knives, graters, mandolins, epic clumsiness, etc. :)

This is the only type of weekly meal prep that makes sense.
Been watching you for quite a while and whenever I feel depressed and about to fall back into eating massive amounts of expensive fast food (basically my addiction) I always watch one of your videos. They make me feel inspired and happy. Your videos always show me that you can always cook something and it can be easy and quick. It doesn't have to be some super fancy meal, just something nice and comforting. Thank you for making these amazing videos.

I have always struggled eating well, first because of poverty and now because of a lack of time and mostly energy. I can relate with you, I hope we can continue trying to strive for healthier food. Hey Kwoowk, I hope you're feeling better man, it sucks that people feel the right to be so awful towards others through the anonymity of online interactions (or even without that tbh). I know it's hard to ignore them so try to keep in mind they don't have your best interests at heart and they'll never be satisfied because their comments are made to force their egos onto you. It doesn't matter what you do, they'll just comment on something else. It's nasty behavior but I feel recognizing this helps me move past the negativity sooner.
so sorry to hear people made you feel this way. you sound like an incredible human being, I wish you all the best in life ❤ haters are always gonna hate, their words aren’t worth anything
Having a pressure cooker is a game changer! Cooking mutton becomes easy for my mom and saves time.
A tip: Just use a wooden spoon to lift up the steam hole so you won't burn yourself.
Yes to the spoon! Speaking as someone who has gotten steam burns from venting it the way you were doing, haha
great tip. another tip careful about tomato in a pressure cooker. it can stick to the bottom and burn. Thank you for the video!
True, I also throw a kitchen towel over the vent before pushing it open with the wooden spoon. Contains the splatter.
A kitchen towel over the top of the vent works wonders!
And it cooks dried beans super fast! I think Kwoowk is going to love it.
@@blackberryjam2 Oh yeah! There re a lot of cool things to do with a pressure cooker. Really nice equipment.
i put ground meat (brown), then add taco packet and water.
and i have a bunch more easy prep/cook items i use it for.
I love seeing the spread of prep food! It always makes me feel proud seeing little jars of accomplishments
This guy is hilarious. I love his humor. I love how he is so down to earth.
"Boom, it's done"-- pressure cookers in the 70s were known for exploding...
@@lisbeth9686 can you share your process of making broth in the pressure cooker? i am really looking for a good broth recipe

Your so funny! Don’t let the haters keep you down, we all struggle with things. Thank you for sharing and having the brilliant idea of prepping different items for different meals throughout the week! Smart. Stay strong and keep up the hard work.
Don't beat yourself up, man. You're the best cook on UA-cam. Just keep your head up and keep perfecting your craft.
Great idea 😁😁
Meal prepping this way seems more doable than what I have been trying, and failing, to do. This is awesome and makes 100% more sense to me. Loved the video.
It’s so nice to meet your editor! Kevin seems like a joy
Thanks! I'm 67 and working on my own healthy eating/activity program. It doesn't get easier as you get older, lol. I love your posts and the manner in which you approach your topics.
You are always so chill about your presentations and opinions and it gives me the confidence to start meal prepping again. Thank you man!
This is THE best meal prep video I've seen. This way makes a lot more sense to me. Thank you so much!
They have special cut resistance gloves that you can put on when you use a mandolin. Obviously the guard is the safest, but that is often inconvenient which I think is the reason why many people don't use it. One of those gloves is a nice compromise to add some safety to your mandolin experience.
You're incredibly thoughtful and well-organized! Preparing meals for the entire week not only saves time but also ensures you always have nutritious meals ready. I'm really impressed with your attention to detail and planning skills. This will definitely help you maintain a healthier and more efficient lifestyle!

You can freeze stuff in silicone muffin trays then once frozen pop the cubes out and store in a bag in the freeze for handy to grab portioned blocks
Kevin I love your videos because they’re so realistic. You give normal people actionable tips on how to eat home cooked, balanced meals.
I am so afraid of getting a steam burn from my electric pressure cooker. I’ve always used the handle of a wooden spoon for the quick/manual release. Hope that helps you too.😊
I’m 9 mos. pregnant with my second child, and I think this way of meal prep is way more approachable for me, rather than the freezer meals or doing the compartment containers. My family won’t be able to help out with meals as much this time around so thanks for the inspo! You’re doing an amazing job.
This is seriously one of the best, convenient and tasty meal prepping videos I've seen
@@pollyso__ Wow, thanks for the information. I'll google the exact directions for freezing rice.
You should only keep cooked rice for one more day. Old rice is NOT safe to eat! As the previous poster said, spread on a tray and freeze, then store in individual portions for fast rice.
Idk why people are commenting on your weight, you don't look bad. I genuinely couldn't even tell you're overweight. Me on the other hand... I'm gonna have to start eating healthier, but your channel helps. Stay strong and never give up

I honestly think his body type is really nice and ideal. Wtf are people complaining about? Not like he's morbidly obese
I think people commenting might have their own issues... I'm glad Kevin called them out!
it's just weird behavior, honestly. his appearance is pretty irrelevant to his content. and besides, i think he looks good.

If it will help other people then why not? Yes it might be sponsored but that doesn't mean it won't make a difference to those who need it.
what's wrong with better help? what I miss?
Win win!

I felt the same, If be working 37 hours a week and still can’t even break even on my mortgage, Then everytime I’m having lunch and a coffee it’s forking out another 10$ minimum. Idk what happened to free lunch and coffe and even with that it’s still not enough. I think that anyone working full time receiving less than 35$ an hour should get government assistance. If homeless people receive 1200$ a month just for being homeless then what about the working class, We should atleast get enough money to live!
