Facades, one of my all time favourite albums, shout out to producer Eric Stewart, ex- Mindbenders and 10cc. Great singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer!
Underrated band - I found an old mirror badge with "Sad Cafe" that I was given as a child by an uncle as he worked at a factory in London that made various mirror things. 40 years later (approx) I thought I'd give them a listen - I was expecting something along the lines of "Tiger Feet" (MUD) style music but instead I'm pleasantly surprised
Wonderful band...went to see them every time they played at the Apollo in Manchester, went to a private party they had upstairs after one of the shows in the 80s met all the band and got their autographs on my program.Paul & Vic Emerson, hope your rocking in the big sky together X
I used to see a girl at the bus stop every morning who really did live down a lane (this was 78 ish and I was 14), I so wanted to talk to her, but it never happened. Obviously this brilliant song stirs the memories...
Awesome! Not every day you get a song about a girl who's a psycho murderess (patricide). Genius at work, and such a cracking track regardless. Clever and memorable.👍⚡🎵 Momma behaved just the same. . .
Yeah - I see what you mean. The rhythm of the two songs are very similar- then there's the cafe reference. I don't think many people will remember 'twilight cafe' - so, good spot,
@@ajs41Strange Little Girl by the Stranglers was in fact one of their first songs in 1974, co-written by Hans Warmling who had followed Hugh from Sweden, he prematurely passed a few years later, maybe in the 1980s I'm not sure. The demos are on here, maybe you can hear Hans singing on those ones.
Bloody Hell - this song is a premonition about Fred West ! Girls were murdered in the cellar and were discovered buried in the garden after they ( police) were " digging the garden up ". Fred West (Mario 'magic man' ) was involved in the occult, Free-Mason, believing in a ' master plan' - "see how your daddy appears " - ( he murdered one of his daughters ! ). Here are the lyrics written more than a decade before the West attrocities ! She's ( Rose West) what the lady saw, under the cellar door They're gonna think you're insane Little girl who lives down the lane You're a strange girl Little girl who lives down the lane In your strange world Mario magic man trusts in some master plan See how your daddy appears He brought a change of luck digging the garden up..... Go Figure !!!
@@shivlettedumpling5759 Yes, I know. I found out shortly after I posted this when I searched the name 'Mario Magic man' on the internet which led me to this film. I should have 'fessed up'. I'll do the research bit first before I post my next conspiracy theory. Ta 😚
Great song written by lead guitarist Ashley Mulford, but this is the butchered single version without the impressive guitar solo. I'd stick with the full length album version.
Awesome song 🏴

One of the best British bands these a and city boy!
Absolutely fabulous.
Amazing. One of the best singles by anyone that decade, their best for me

Brings back old memories.
Very underated Manchester band: saw them at Manny apollo. A proper band with great lyrics
Every song had atmosphere and were all memorable.

Featuring the one and only Paul Young on vocals (who later worked with Mike & The Mechanics). RIP Youngy

Great band, one of my favourite all time bands, went to see them at Nottingham Rock City in the early years.
Great stuff for Bodie and Doyle's assignment!
Forgot about this one. Very 80s style. Should of been a bigger hit though.
Power play în Top 30 al lui Andrei Voiculescu în 1979 la Europa Liberă...

Strange. Haunting! But a lovely song. I've subbed. Hope to see more uploads like these in the future
Awesome bass line and great lyrics.
GREAT 'pre punk' Manchester band! dx
Had the single! Also reminds me of someone I work with, lol. 😉
The worst thing is that they are very good :|
I much prefer this to their two top 20 hits.
This is more experimental, which makes it more interesting.
Susan Fassbender Twilight Café-ish
That was about 12 months later. Maybe Susan was influenced by this.

@@ajs41This is originally from 1977 but was re-released in 1980.
@@80ssynthfan48 Interesting, thanks. Notable that the Stranglers did a song with the same title a few years later, with a similar sort of atmosphere.

It's actually about the Jodie Foster film. Called "The little girl who lives down the lane“ 1976. You should watch it.
