Thanks for making this video Rob. This is so helpful for enthusiast like us especially on a low budget. It gives so much satisfaction driving a slow car fast. Yes you could have bought a supra but your experience would have been bland . I bet that you have inspired so many people with your build and track videos, made mew friends from all work of life, brought you so much joy and continues to make you a fantastic driver.
Thanks you watching and the kind words. I had a fast car because this and drove it slow on track. This car I feel will help you develop faster and be more confident at the limit… and save a few bucks 😂
Ones got to pay to play and we go through life one time, so live it and love it. My brother and I both owned 1972 240Z Datsun's, I had mine for 13 years and then sold it with regrets after the fact. I told my brother the FRS/BRZ/FT86 is a modern day 240Z replacement and he bought the FRS in 2013; he loves it. In todays prices the $4,200 Datsun 240Z would cost $42,000 all bright, shiny and new. Have fun and I look forward to the next video.
Thanks for this vid alot of people don't post these kinds of videos. 25k for a fully prepped car which some aero is pretty good. Im pretty much at your level of mods on my R35 with bolt ons + suspension + some aero + wheels+ roll bar and seats and its around 60k+ in parts. So yea its much more expensive to modify more expensive cars lol
Youre the man, im excited to watch you grow as a driver in this car and hope you keep it for awhile. Hopefully people solve the oil starving issues soon, as i want to do the same with my car eventually
Don’t let the haters count your pockets. It’s great content regardless if you like the mods I love em!! Do what you want, except as a married man myself lol as long as the wife is happy than you good 😂
Its alot of money, but its built the way you want and you've learned alot through the process. After mastering its current config there is always boost or engine swap if you wanted to go down that road.
did you ever track it extensively bone stock? Would you recommend against this? I ordered a 2024 at my dealer and I wanna track casually stock first but I've heard of so many oil issues :X
I did when I first got it over a year ago to get some base lines with the car. Knowing what we know now I would not track it with 0W 20 at all. If you didn’t want to modify it, I would throw in minimum zero 30 or 5W 30 and slightly overfill it. If you see temps go over 250/260 do a cool down lap.
Black Friday is when I splurge on parts for the next track season , think summit racing had some really good deals on Hawk DCT line brakes that I pulled, for example last yr
Question would you wide-body this car? and would it give you any benefits? Appreciate your input!! ( and yes it is reasonable its the growth man you only live once )
I hear you. The price to race is EXPENSIVE. For me I want to eventually race in CSP and possibly move into Xtreme class. The GLTC class may cost too much because I think I'd have to engine swap the car. I'll probably try to find a used cheap NA or NB Miata and build out from there. I've also seen prepped ready to race Miata's for between 10K and 25K price tag depending on what class they're setup for. Wearables should be cheaper than big V8 cars. I really like the new GR86, but that up front cost is for rich people LOL.
I spent about the same amount on my Golf GTI. The only difference was I blew up two engines in less then two months, one was the money shift 4th-3rd and second engine was the piston ring was too tight inside of the cylinder.. Of course you can do it for less, but to do with the right parts, you could spend at least 10k in parts and after that just regular maintenance. The first 2 years are hard because there is a lot of trying and error.
Love channel just subbed a couple videos ago. Also nothing is cheap anymore and expensive hobbies just got more expensive really lol. I'm handling some house stuff then stacking a down payment for one of these to have around December. No plans on heavy track use just maybe once a year, with some spirted backroad stuff of course. Hell, maybe I should wait for a 2024? Yet something tells me not much will change in production other than less/Better RTV maybe.
I like it. Looking to build one of these, but I think I'd rather buy a used one, strip it, put a cage in it, and then put all the racing parts on it.... faster, lighter, safer, easier on consumables. Not streetable though...
I only spent $1525🥲 and i still have a decent bit. I still have plans for suspension. So BC racing BR series $1200. Keeping my stocks til i can afford the RPF1s. Not to mention tune Sway bars Short shifter Brakes Wing dunno which one just yet. Etc etc. Im looking at 7k by the time i get to where i wanna be. Imma do autocross too. So itll be cheaper, but wont be able to get the full track experience. Eventually tho, ill catch up to intermediate drivers when i get my promotion🥲🥲
@@BitcoinTo100K what's wrong with em? I'm not trying to cheap out. I hear those are affordable and they're pretty good for the price. Tien and silver we also some recommended brands. I'd like to hear your story
@@phelpsgarage4202 as of right now, autocross is cheaper. So I'm not in any hurry for a wing. I'm more so looking into making the car keeping up with a porsche. The straights kill it, but I've managed to hold my own on corners, but just barely. I'd still fall short. I'm looking at a perrin sway bar for now. Once I reach my peak performance on suspension mods and hit my limit, I'll move forward with aero, and POSSIBLY, cuz I don't like the idea, boosting.
man... there are no giustification, you did because you like, and you did what you can afford, supra vette you will do the same and the final bill will be 100k+
Lol thats pretty cheap comparing to something like 911 or a c63 amg 507 that i own , brakes alone cost me 5.5k usd , thats on a cheap side oil change is 500bucks alone, i owne the car for 4years and allready 15k in maintnance

Really appreciate that you’ve shared these details, thanks man!
Thank you for watching!
Its cheaper than some other hobbies I can think of. Great build love the content.
Thank for watching!
Great car, just finished watching your lap at Sebring. What are the specifications to your wheels? thanks
RPF1s 18x9.5 et38
You the real deal. Thanks sir.
Appreciate your support!
Great Video!!! Keep them coming.
Thanks for watching
Well done! Its about the journey.
Thank you!
The mods you’ve put are great, wish you all the best
Thank you! We might see some boost soon
Thank you for sharing. now In will go through the video library to see how you installed some of the mods.
I have a few
Great video super valuable information and very reasonable for the experience
Thanks for watching!
The cost per driver improvement and running cost is the best imo. Good work 😊

100% agree

Boost!
Part of the process, it's worth the experience. I built a 13 FRS before and learned so much! 7:39 So true, I want the key 🔑 for a Porsche 911
C6Z would probably be next

Would a similar build work with the last gen brz?
Yeah for the most part
F the haters. Gr86 are going to iconic someday the same way 240s and other tracks cars are. Beautiful build!

As long as you enjoy the car and it fits your needs money is secondary

True, it is a blast on track
how much power this car made?(hp)
amaing video & amazing build
About 20 hp with a E85 tune

$25k. Nice video.
Thanks!

I would do a wide body mainly to add wider tires.
@phelpsgarage4202 good to know. What would the wheel specs be if you had to?
@@Randygr86 I’ll take any wider!! Not sure in the wheel specs itself.

Can’t wait to see the front splitter 👍
It just came in! Video in 2 weeks 🤞🏻
If only going fast wasn't so expensive. I've been thinking of a mitsubishi mirage race series. What improvements could the little 1.2l get 😄
Lol I think about doing a Honda Fit and race Gridlife Sunday cup
Roll cage?
Not yet

Yeah, or either by the time you get one the aftermarket will have a pretty good solve on the issue.
That’s nuts
