12:24 not only CAN it be done, it HAS been done, and the best way is slapping the FA20 heads on the FA24 shortblock which you can get from Subaru for 1800, some machining work, tune on first gen ecutek which isn’t nearly as limited as the second gen ecutek which is still in beta and BOOM you have a platform that a few people are already 250whp+ doing this exact thing
I like it. I’m pretty much stock as well and spent all my money on seat time lol. Weird thing is my FRS has over 200’000km and the motor is going strong according to an oil analysis. I have been overfilling the oil by 1qt, running a heavier weight 5w30 and changing it every other track day. Still worried about the engine popping one day so I did a GReddy baffle with Killer B pickup tube.
Should bolt to wheel vs hub. Then it moves with steering wheel. Also I’ve added push to talk button on it and headlight flicker button for endurance racing which happens at night. Hey lots of weight to be lots to if you’re serious. My 2018 brz is down to 2205 half full.
K swaps raise the center of gravity... I would think. IDK 4sure, but the flat-4 is lower. Ive seen people getting pretty good (na) power with simple things like new valve seats, deburring chamfering, high camshafts, indv. oil jets, and of course pistons, rods, and a well balanced crank...then a 4.33 final gear... with a proper tune, the engine will put out 240-245. but the fa24 is around 4-6k rn and you could prob build that for less than 8-9k... ???food for thought.
The perfect WHP for this car is at around 240-250 WHP. The FA24 can probably achieve that right now with flex fuel + aftermarket headers (equal length, but correct me if I’m wrong about that). The only thing is that the ECU for the 2nd gen hasn’t been fully cracked yet. I bring this all up because I agree, K swapping does not make sense, the main advantage for this platform comes from the low COG of the boxer and how lightweight it is by 2024 standards. K swapping might affect the weight distribution too, it’s already 53-47, front-rear, so any motor swap may mess with that balance as well
the kpower kit takes 140lbs off the nose of the car and moves the engine back. I would think taking weight off the front while adding power is better than having a heavier engine even with the boxer layout
Of course we missed something.. Final gear : Mfactory 4.67
This dude is awesome
I appreciate that, thank you.
I was a Marine in Okinawa, ‘07-09, got a Skyline there. Like he said it was 90s JDM heaven. Love this video, awesome dude

What a cool, fun interview. Mad respect for keeping it real, keeping it NA.
Thank you!
Very chill owner, love the build.
I mean this channel is amazing, great videos! I can see this channel having 10k even 100k subs soon!
Appreciate it! I think we all put alot of efforts into our cars and driving. I’m just here to share those stories!

Good stuff Stephen! You too Peter!
🙌 thank you!
Thank you!!!
Awesome video Peter! You and Stephen keeping it real as always 🏁
Thank you!
@Stephen_Ellis can't wait to see what comes next on your build.
I have some decent upgrades planned for the rest of the year, looking forward to moving the car to a new limit.

That’s the key! Thank you!
The legend!! Great video!
Glad you enjoyed! It was shaftworks
Awesome vid! I boost a FA20..no problems after build. People just don't do maintenance. By the way what is that plate for the horn and cruise control?
I got it from Gerald Just Projects

If I did boost anything it would be an FA24.

@@dadhats I agree with that but for what I want to do with the car I think that's a later option for me.
I may have missed it but did he say what suspension is he running?
Shaftworks 1 Way
Nice setup. Is that an OS Giken CSG clutch I hear?
Not sure if osg or ogura, hope Stephen chimes in
