When I was a kid, I thought Martin and Gina were married in real life.
😂 me too!
Even when i see the show i still think that
Yea, we all felt like the chemistry was already there.😂💯
Uncle phil and aunt Viviane
They actually used to date in real life. Probably why they had such chemistry on the screen.
Martin is a great example of show that helped Black Americans solved problems in America. This iconic show had great representation of friendships, relationships, job opportunities, personal growth, and life lessons for Black people.
He dressed up like a woman like most of them foh
FACTS
I thought this was ai generated 😊
@@armanifryeowens5518the comment ?
Bruh I think you may wanna take a step outside
The show was definitely positive outlook of black Americans but i definitely didn’t teach black Americans much lol
We live in a world where black kids are killing friends and family members over a video game.
We are still doing stupid shit to go to jail
The world was different before social media. People couldn't hide behind screens and text messages. You had to interact with people directly and it forced people to form stronger bonds and work harder to make relationships work.
Social media has demoralized, desensitized, and detached people. I truly miss the simple days.
I mean you still could hide. Not like secrets and lies are new😅
@@Petey-se1lo Sure but it was much harder to replace romantic partners and friends because there were no dating apps or social media to give people access to endless new people.
The fact that ppl in their mid 30s emotionally involved in social media behavior says a lot about who we were growing into- the kids that actually grew up on shows like Martin..
It’s strange to me seeing how seriously adults over 20 take online interactions vs personal ones .... these are the same kids that still had rotary phones and toys made out of cardboard ... what is the main objective here steering ppl all over the place
Yep and there wasn't any s*** talking unless you are prepared to back it up. Speaking all willy-nilly with no repercussions wasn't a thing
I watched the Martin Lawrence Show back when I was in High School and I truly loved the Martin/Gina relationship. She was humble enough to let her man lead but strong enough to stand her ground when she truly believed she was right, not only for herself but them as a couple. Truly one of the most "perfect" couples in television history.
💯
Woke folks reading this like, “woe powerful”
Im folks
That’s a great observation of balance in a woman and her role in a relationship
U right and couldnt said it better
This!💛 and he was Man enough to lead but backed down when Gina stood up.😍💪🏾
Cole was preaching when he said “it don’t matter what race she is, we all black when the lights go out”. 💯🗣️💯🗣️
🤣🤣🤣
That boy was wilding lol
Right
Cole... you stupid
He was right with a lot of things!
I told my 20 year old children to watch the entire show episode from beginning to end and I promise they will see life so different. Life has drastically change since the 90’s. The 90”s young adults need to know how different it was.
What did they think about it? How did it change their view?
Martin show was religiously watched in my house hold it was and still is a great show
Same. Coming from a lower-middle class white family in the south we LOVED Martin in my household. No fresh prince. No yadda yadda. Always Martin. Very good TV show.
STILL watching in 2024
Hollywood is to blame for peoples distorted view on Love
💡💡💡💡
And the internet

Social Media
True dat
Man, I've always said Martin took Tisha's comedic acting to another level and would be mad even though I loved the show My Wife and Kids and would say that should've been Martin and Gina with kids🤦🏾♂️🤣🤣
😂😂😂Exactly
One of the greatest shows ever
Facts ❤❤
Don't forget Fresh Prince of Bel air.
I remember people had to put out a petition when a network wanted to have a Sidechick Reality show. Negative relationships, baby mama, and ratchetness have been goals nowadays, sadly. 😢And we know drama always sales.
Wat network
When was that? The 90s?
Don't watch TV so I have no idea what's going on
Real housewives of wherever the funk. Those shows.
There is a show on Tubi though. It’s called Side-Chicks of Charlotte, or something like that.
Just a lesson within a lesson piggybacking off Martin and Pam teaming up to get rid of that women, When a person doesn’t like you they usually team up with another person that doesn’t like you and the crazy thing is those two people don’t even like each other. They’re only united because of you.
Facts
Rampant in work/office settings
That falls under the ancient proverb: The enemy of my enemy is my friend. When two who normally don't get along, get along to get rid of the individual they both don't like. That was one of my favorite episodes.
@@nadirab74 Not really a fan of the tactic because I’ve seen it before in real life reversed when the person was was good and the other two were shady.
But the thing is Pam and Martin didn’t really dislike each other…talking 💩 to each other was just the nature of their relationship. If you remember, Martin was the one pulling Gina’s coat tail on how Monique had been disrespecting Pam since she got there. And Martin checked Monique when she made that crack about Pam storing food in her cheeks.
Martin addressed all kinds of social issues but because it was done through comedy it took awhile for it to sink in
Wow! I never looked at Martin like that, but I did notice how the characters stuck together. They were like family to one another.
This is what I liked. They weren't perfect people and never needed to be. They were human, and they kept their bonds strong.
Matin and Pam going at it. Second only to Fred Sanford and Esther.
Crazy part is both were friends in real life. That's how it works
*PLEASE DO ONE ON THE COSBY SHOW TOO* As Black ppl we need to make good home training & parenting, modesty, financial responsibility, & marriage the norm again.
Exactly
Statistics show that black people are more financially responsible than white people. Black people actually save more money than white people. The Cosby's were a fake ass unrealistic family. A black doctor and lawyer living in New York in a super expensive brownstone house who put all their kids thru exclusive colleges. Complete bs and not a real reflection of black life in America.
Abbot elementary is positive
just not with bill cosby
Agreed!! Just about every episode was a lesson.
Martin also was trying expose something that’s an open secret in Hollywood. That episode where Martin was in the green room with Tommy and he was telling Tommy “this is Hollywood, check the neck”. This scene still plays on TV when the episode comes on.
😂😂
Even the scene where it showed him in the meetings. Crazy ish was right in our faces and we didn't even know it.
@@guacamolegoblin I know your tiny brain ass can’t fully grasp reality, so I’ma block you from further commenting on my post.
Even with Eddie Murphy getting caught with Trannies was telling. 😮 If you do something so much it becomes a part of you and you it.
Even when Martin ran to the cult and escaped to go back home to Gina
It will never be another one I tell you that..good times frfr
Love and lust are two separate things and each one has different slants............
THEY SHACKED UP TOO LONG. MY PARENTS WOULD'VE SAID, GET MARRIED ASAP.
This is true! Our people used to be against shacking up but now it's the norm. We can't expect the relationships to have God's favor if we aren't doing it the right way
@@SegaGentleman RIGHT, BUT MY STANDARDS ARE FROM THE BIBLE AND CHILDREN. DON'T DIE IN SIN.
@@gege6883I think that what they said in so many words
Martin and Gina had separate apartments.Pam and Gina were roommates but Gina was always at his house until they got married then Pam took over their place.
@jasminejazijaz8002 no. They moved in together once before that in the earlier seasons. It didn't work out and Gina moved back with Pam.
yep. im not even black and every episode was a lesson to learn. straight up this show is for people who are together before having kids. most important transition to marriage life.
Yes!! My children’s father when we were dating out of high school use to be them. Never missed an episode!!!
Tommy said "if she can't use your comb, don't bring them home"
i still struggle to believe the bts issues, you would never tell it from the vibes on-screen. all 5 of them seemed like they loved each other so much, chemistry was unreal. tisha an amazing actress, really looked at martin like he was everything to her
Was very fortunate to catch this when it was actually being aired on FOX. Wish I could have attended a live taping.
For me back in the 90’s it was like clearing the streets to view Soul Train
@@dtaylor4952yep that Thursday night lineup made you get home🏡 in time to watch 🤣🤣🤣

There's So Many Parallels between Reality & Television, Especially from Classic Shows like THIS!
Great Video.... 👏🏽👏🏽🙌🏽✌🏽
I never knew that ''MARTIN'' had some real life tendences on the show. Thank you giving us ''THE REALISM BEHIND THE FICTION--- ''MARTIN''.
They really had an exquisitely fabulous chemistry
I fall asleep to this show so much 💯
Then something is wrong with you
Man, five minutes in and this video felt like a breath of fresh air!
One of The Best couple's I REMEMBER 🤯 and that was TV ❤
Black love exists, met in 97 on & off ...til married in 2005 to present.
Tisha got with the wrong Martin in real life. Cause Dwayne Martin definitely ain’t it!
I'm sorry I'm not trying to you know rain on anyone's parade but wasn't Martin on drugs in real life and didn't Gina and Pam both have like something going on with that some tension? Like sexual harassment?
i thought it was Duane
@@OrganicAlumination Tisha was dating both Martin and Duane Martin, and she chose Duane and later married him, Martin was upset and looked at Duane as a punk. While on set, he used to attack Duane's character, and it made Tisha and Duane uncomfortable that she filed for sexual harassment against Martin. Technically, Martin didn't sexually harass Tisha, and she later apologized to Martin. Looking back, Martin didn't lie about Duane's character.
@@starlightrocks7 Amen to that. He saw something that later proved to be true.
@@starlightrocks7 he was a punk cause he was playing "star wars" with Will Smith in the closet in the 90s
That ain’t no damn dog Tommy 😂😂😂😂
It's TV MAN '''..... 😂...
Martin showed how to be an entrepreneur and go getter in the show. That was the lesson I noticed among others.
I always felt Martin and Pam would have made a better couple. 😬
WE ❤ USED to watch IT as a family back in the Day
0:18 I literally watched this episode less than five minutes ago, and then this video pops up in my feed, coincidence?
True but to see black love you have to pay for it on HBO. To even see the imagery of good black love cost per month. I appreciate your videos and given us great messages.
The Martin Lawrence we have now has been refurbished, I am not sure where Martin went ...
Na...I think he got sober!! Speaking from experience
Plus he is getting old… dude is pushing 60
Exactly! His personality back then, even in the early 2000s seems as if he was cloned or drugged. I remember in the late 90s they said he was going crazy running up n down the streets saying “fight the establishment” with a gun in his pocket. He was never the same after that ordeal. Martin was pro-black and was about uplifting the black community. He had powerful interviews back then. They got to him and now he is completely different. Just like other black Hollywood actors who completely changed. It’s not a coincidence.
I strongly agree with you. I think they did something to him after that. Definitely seem different. @TheMelaninTree
Y'all forgot about the The Bill Cosby Show
The Cosby Show is different from The Bill Cosby Show. Are you talking about the show where he's Cliff Huxtable, or the show where he plays Chet Kincade?
No we didnt
@@kellyroyds5040They probably meant the Cosby Show.
@@Kap_NYC I see, thanks.
These are 2 different shows entirely. Martin is about a dating couple and the struggle with friends trying to make the relationship work and their friendship. Cosby was about a married family and dealing with the kids and raising them right.
I low key always wanted martin and pam together.
Man i miss the old Martin and Welsley snipes them dudes don't even seem real no more
This was brilliantly done. I still watch this show till this day
There 🤔is NOTHING More🧐 Beautiful, than BLK😘Love‼️... 💯%...
Period!
Amen to that 🌄🌹🤎❤️
And how often do you come across AUTHENTIC "BLK Love?"
@@user-xf9qg4bp3urarely. Ive blessed to have a great husband with a golden heart. People see us in public and ask how long have we been together. We still dress in the same colors when going out. We still hold hands and kick cans in public
The Blk app says differently
This is so educational for the black community! Martin is all time my favorite show wish most of us would wake up when it comes to black love
The power of Black love. They don't understand
We want to live modernly, with out changing love to catch up. Do the work tailor your relationship. Everything ain't for everybody.

In the last episodes of Martin, Gina asked the producers to be put in separate shots from Martin Lawrence.
Why?

Abbott elementary is bringing back real relationships with Greg and Janine it’s a small start however it will get better
I still watch this everyday!!! With the fresh prince!!! And Bernie Mac!!!
This is video is unlocking so many memories I have of this show; Like the part on here when they bring up the unemployment situation; Apparently Martin thought he was more popular than he actually was, he stood up in the unemployment office and said "WAZ UP" only to discover that no one in the office was familiar with him and one guy looked at him crazy and said "Man sit yo a$$ down"
half braided and half fro
Dang, I noticed a hood bit of the lessons while watching Martin but the half of the ones you just showed has really taught me more things in life. Martin was a leader not by himself but just by making a show to guide you in life.
That was an unexpected and great breakdown of Blk culture (proverbially) using "Martin" as the example. The only disagreement I'd have is the over-simplistic view on "rising above ra ci sm" because yes, it matters less when the lights go out but longevity can't be realized unless 1) ppl are on the same page 2) have each others back when the real world comes against you and 3) understanding the others social currency in society based upon those differences. That's reality and if you can't navigate that successfully, it won't work.
Great video .!!! Wake up Black Americans . Money Faith Vision and Courage If you only have few dollars 💵 start a piggy back and build Tell nobody about your plan and not even Your parents stop buy and stay from hood. Women credit card 💳 and hood women .!!!
NOTHING is perfect. No matter WHAT we see on social media feeds😒
This!!! This is what I said about this show. I related to this show but I always believed they loved each other and showed it. It seemed so genuine and REAL! ONE of the best black tv shows ever!
Martin is the best number one comedy sitcom show of all time a classic u can learn a lot from watching it plenty of knowledge
No, it's not. All In The Family is.
Agreed!! Martin show is definitely #1 comedy show of all time!!! 😂😂
Thank you for such a WONDERFUL Video! Love the work you put into this ICONIC show! GREAT WROK!!!!

It's hard to find a woman that's not about all finance and no romance 😢
Thanks for this vid....it really helps in solidifying the concept of black love being real. One thing tho...too many of the images are "dark" and can hardly be seen!...I guess all the copyright stuff applies? LOL! Keep up the good work bruh!!
Very great examples Martin taught life lesson. I loved this show 😊
My baby and I have a very Martin & Gina relationship. He worships the ground I walk on, and I have nothing but joy for him. We play together and we laugh together 💚💕💚💕
Im white, but I still loved this show as a little kid.
Something I noticed as well, they had individual friendships with men and women. They validated each other and were secure in their position with each other. They were FRIENDS. They actually SHARED friends who had their best interest at heart. Their communication also improved. Martin wasn't angry and controlling all the time. Gonna made her own money but knew to allow Martin to lead.
I absolutely loved this show, man it’s timeless & so iconic within black tv, Tommy, Cole, Gina, Pam & Martin gave us timeless body of work from this show.
Great show……….. Positive, Funny, and Authentic ❤
Beautiful analysis ❤😊
ROC was a good show
Came across your channel during my overnight stretch. I love your positivity and encouraging commentary. Thank you ❤😊
Yeah, but you forgot to also add when Tommy said, "If she can't use your comb, don't bring her home"
I’m mixed. The Cosby’s were not like my black side. The Jefferson’s were closer bc I had family that “moved up” maybe not that much but still plus they had a mixed couple. There were no white shows similar to what I knew either til Rosanne. I actually had white family that lived about 60-90mins outside Chicago in very similar size town. PLUS, their house wasn’t perfect. I remember seeing the blanket on the couch and even the size of the house. I was so stoked. However, still something missing.
I was a kid when Martin came out but it did LOOK a bit more realistic to me as to how I saw adults. And I think they showed more realistic relationships. I’m glad I watched it bc I feel I learned about compromises and NO RELATIONSHIP can be perfect. Romantic, friendship, family…. And even when I’ve seen an episode here n there as an adult, I still feel same way.
I think shows can be entertaining and realistic and wish more would do that. ESPECIALLY black family shows. I feel like too often they go for unrealistic perfect to stereotypes for easy laughs. Maybe, there are some out there but I’ve missed bc I haven’t watched much of any type of series for past 10-12yrs
I need to rewatch this show again. Each time this came on every week I had to watch it. I don't remember all the episodes, but I would love a refresher.
You know that the show was a Fairytale because Gina never listened to Pam and Pam was always around
Somehow this video impacted me so much with everything that's going on in my life right now, so I just wanted to tell you, thank you for making this video.
Great well thought out video keep up the Fantastic work sir
Marriage isn't worth it. We don't need a "license" from a government to say you love someone
My grandma always said only God can marry you. The government just gives you a little extra tax refund.
This was put together pretty well, made me think about how me and the homies dynamic is set up 💎
Martin is the reason why black people think you’re supposed to live together before you get married.
So true. That was the only thing that I didn't like about the show
No, martin was showing thats what black people were and are doing. If you want to go about it the "right way", children should be raised in a similar environment and groomed, therefore making it easier for a good man to be with a good woman. They grow and got to school together, so the families already know about the two and how they were raised. THEN get married. Not date or have sex first then ruin yourself for companionship.
I thought if they cared about each other, they stayed that way, I approved of it when I seen it. Great show
I absolutely love this narrative strategy regarding Martin and Gina. Thank you
Their chemistry was incredible…I was heartbroken when I heard things weren’t cool also rip Tommy
This was MY SHOOOOOOW! ❤❤😂😂
My Family has a Martin drinking game, it’s so great. Makes you watch go rewatch the show cause you swear you know Martin till you hear some of them questions lmaoo

This was a great video, i really enjoyed it, although I never was a really big fan of the show myself, I liked how you tied some of the shows content together along with real life scenarios and turned into a life lesson. It’s more proof that 2 people can enjoy a good and satisfying relationship.
