She loves labels and then she says she want to refuse to be labeled. Her constant issues of her own discrimination towards other people in very interesting. A double standard from Hollywood types? The Hollywood privileged to say that all her accomplishments trump all other peoples' desires in life or even to freely choose to avoid people is one Raven has real issues about. She is so use to using industries like Disney to FORCE people into accepting herself and even when the majority never gave a single care about her or even knew who she was. She just lived in a pipeline with ONLY a few million people, or just a few million children to give a care about her. Adults didn't care, those in college didn't care, and most people never watched The View. She hated the industry for controlling her but has chosen to say that she could say that all people should agree with her simply because a controlling industry made her popular. She of course has lived in a bubble her whole life and has refused to be accepting of other people who want to live differently from her or flat out wish to avoid her at all. It is no wonder why she felt OK with discriminating against religious beliefs of one religious peoples', in that she was OK enough with the government persecuting a man and the near constant persecution of his life. This is ironic considering how she hate an industry for controlling her and hating on her for her appearance and choice of expression.

The way Raven put on for little black girls during the Disney era will always be legendary We seen so much of ourselves in Raven and she's still such a huge influence to this day
Man, her parents groomed her and treated her as a cash cow. She was completely dissociated majority of her life, which is scary honestly. She definitely is a icon and paved the way in so many different ways but, her back story is harsh.
True. Like Michael Jackson, Beyoncé, Britney etc…. But they’ve inspired so many young lives. I wouldn’t say it’s a fair trade off, but definitely a trade off. I know I loved seeing Raven on tv. It was refreshing to see instead of all one race all the time
Crazy how she was bullied for her weight when majority of kids & teens who watched the show didn’t care about that. We all watched because she was entertaining & hilarious. The media was so cruel towards plus sized woman back then especially plus sized black woman.
@@GameLover-pz5zcHilary Duff and Lindsey Lohan weren't really exactly the same as the others. Hilary particularly struggled very publicly with her weight. Awful. :(
On Raven's Podcast she said that she has no sense of time because she grew up her whole life inside of a studio basically in a box so time doesn't exist to her. She doesn't know day from night. When KeKe Palmer asked her how would she compare her life to a normal child's life? She said that she can't compare her life to anyone else's because she has nothing to compare to all she knows is acting. I felt sorry for her when she said that because we didn't know what she was going through all we knew was that she was on tv. Her parents chose her life before she could have a choice.
@@PopCultureKing2009 Yeah I read her book and cried through out reading it. Her dad was a drunk most of her life, they were dirt poor and her mom saw stars and a huge payout when it came to her talent. She got her family out of poverty and they paid her back by making her do tour after tour non stop to keep bringing in the money.
I wonder what Raven's relationship with her parents is? Because from the outside it looks like they were more interested in their daughter as business than as their child.
Her relationship with her mother seems very good but she always mentions her father in a spiteful or critical tone and she is very reserved about her relationship with her parents. But you can tell that she harbors a lot of resentment towards her father.
@@krr6802 Yep! I agree. We can visibly see raven in photos with her brother (may he rest in peace) and her mother. However, we rarely see raven with her father. her father made comments about her statement on the view though so.
I’ve seen her with her mother. She took her mother to the hospital in LA at the same time I was waiting in the ER too. So I saw them interact and she fought to get her mom a room quickly and her being well known made it happen faster. It seemed like she really cared about her mom in that hour or so I was by her. I waited for 7 hours though got there before raven and her mom so I was salty they got a room due to the nurse knowing who she was😂 I don’t care now, but when you’re sick…
@@bunnylacy2097 Wow! Did you have any interaction with Raven? I know it must have been a hard time for her to rush her mother in the ER. I’ve seen UA-cam videos of her public interactions with fans, and even got a chance to interact with her as she replied to one of my stories.
We're slowly going to loose out on child prodigés because of such weird stances of today's time. Like would we have Serena Williams if she didn't get "groomed" as a tennis player from childhood?
@@tinyiko2311 Keyword being "child". Let children be children. How many more of them do we have to see spiral as adults because they remain emotionally stunted due to achieving massive success and fame at a young age and being overworked/manipulated by the lazy adults around them? Why are child protégés so important for you to have? They are human beings, not puppets for you to ooh and ahh at.
Let's be honest, she's one of the most functional Disney stars we know. There's no downfall. She's still booked, she's still in a financially healthy position, she's still in a good space with family, she has a long-term relationship that's now a marriage. The only thing that's different is her sexuality and we learned her political and cultural beliefs through daytime tv. Y'all think you know celebrities just because you see them on tv and magazines a lot. We don't, Raven has been the same for many years including her sexuality. One of the reasons she quit Cheetah Girls was because a group member threatened to out her, so that means she's been a lesbian for over a decade. Downfall where? It's called outgrowing your kiddie image and she did it quite well.
@@GameLover-pz5zc lol, I didn't mention it was Kiely but clearly that confirms that their relationship had much contention. Kiely didn't out her but she threatened to do it during Cheetah Girls Two. It was one of their biggest fights while in Barcelona. Raven talked about it on The View.
"so that's mean she'e been lesbian for over decade" 1. As Raven said she doesn't like labels. So don't put her in one 2. She's queer her whole life. Queer people are born queer
This is a hard watch, it’s clear from the beginning she was trained to think her purpose in life was to work and make money. It reminds me a lot of drew Barrymores story
Right as entertaining & talented as she is it felt like she never got to just be a normal child and do what she wanted. It’s sad to think about how many child and teen stars literally sacrifice their childhood for our entertainment
Raven born a star and doesn't go unnoticed. Either you love her or you hate her. She steals the scene wherever she goes. That's why she was so hated among the Cheetah girls because she totally overshadowed the other girls. They couldn't handle Raven's brilliance. Without Raven and her star quality, they failed and were kicked out by Disney. She is a great actress, has a great voice, is a director, producer, voice actor and designer. A complete artist. Criminally talented. An inspiration to millions of girls over decades and nothing will change that. The original IT girl. Love or hate.
Raven really paved the way. She was THAT girl. As a black girl growing up, i wanted to be cool like her. I had an amazing childhood and family but i used to think she was so cool and confident and i was truly like thats the type of cool teen i want to be. Confident, enjoying my personal style and not trying to fit in. Just being authentically herself

I don't like the title, it seems too click bait. Raven never had a downfall she was used by her parents, Disney. She was and is a queen and is so successful.
My hope is the intentions are good..... it can be so hard to tell. Hard to articulate what I'm saying I've been so sick this week but this was eye opening for sure
Raven is a good example of a black lgbtq woman who they won’t listen to because she isn’t saying what they want her to say. She literally said she doesn’t know if her family came from Africa and Oprah says “you know you’ll get flack for that”. That’s insane.
You mean she doesn't know where in Africa her family came from and that's correct. I don't get Oprahs reaction because I agree with her. White people aren't European Americans so we shouldn't have to say we're African American. She never said she wasn't black. She knows she's black. I don't actually remember hate, I just remember people laughing at her because in that same interview she said she's from all countries in Africa which is a weird thing to say but I believe she only said it because Oprah was grilling her and she was trying to be (unsuccessfully) snarky.
@@LethalLemonLime All African Americans have been descended ancestrally from African countries. That will never change especially if you have children with other black people. Simple as that. White people ARE European Americans. They need to remember that first and foremost because they are not much different except, their ancestors discovered and lived their by choice, the same ancestors who ended up getting into the business of buying and owning slaves from Africa, the ancestors of African Americans and the reason why there are so many black people in America. You cannot deny the truth and your history. The only people who are 'American' and was traced furthest back on that land are the Natives and even their ancestors migrated their also.
I thought what she said had a lot of truth at the center of it, but her phrasing was just a bit silly imo. How are you going to say you don’t do labels and then immediately label yourself as American? Also, labels aren’t inherently bad and they help some people make sense of their identities. I personally prefer Black but I don’t see any problem with identifying as African American for various reasons, it’s up to the person. That being said, I do love her and think she’s totally inspiring. I’ve said my own share of stuff that I look back on now and think “wow, that was certainly a take”
@codesm96 whites aren't euro American simply bc they arent European. For example, I'm European American bc I'm legitimately HALF portuguese (mother born in Portugal) and half American (father). Otherwise, you're just American. US is a legit country with a culture
@@shicyn No it isn't. And 'Whites aren't euro American simply bc they arent European'?' Sounds like you are in denial. If it was, why would racism and anti-immigration rhetoric be at the catastrophic scale it is now? The white people that make the majority of the population are descended from European migrants and settlers who basically picked up where Colombus left off, which explains why they are the majority race. The majority of black people in America are descended from slaves taken from Africa by those same European ancestors which is why America has the black population that they do. The Hispanic population are largely from Mexico, Central and South American countries, as well as surrounding islands. Native Americans have been there long before any of the other groups but were shown to have traced as far back from Asia originally. US is a country, that's pretty obvious but culture that was created in the US since has nothing to do with the racial and ethnic make-up that. You can't just be like 'I'm American'. Everyone has origins and ancestry which explains the racial and ethnic make-up of who we are. Those people who says 'I'm just American' don't even know where they originally came from yet refuse to falt out admit it. There are still recent generations of Italian-Americans, Irish-Americans etc who's families migrated to US over a hundred years ago that know their ancestry pretty well and accept it as part of their identity despite having been settled for over a century in the US. Why would you want to deny any part of who you are and where you came from especially before your ancestral relatives came to the country? That's just being in denial. That's why I hate when people claim to be 'American' only as if that explains anything because it doesn't. I struggle to believe that people who genuinely believe this won't just admit that they don't know where their ancestry originally came from. The people who think they don't need to admit that they don't know because they're 'American' are just ignorant. More people should do ancestry tests and find out for themselves. That is what educating people of the origins of race and ethnicity in America would look like. People need to start finding out who they really are. As far as I'm concerned, being American is nothing but a nationality for citizenship based on being born in the country. You should take an ancestry test and find out how far back you can trace your father's origins before your ancestors on his side came to America. You would be surprised.
Theres one red carpet interview of her disney days where they ask her about fashion and she says something along the lines of not having interest in keep up with the trends..she been woke and tired of the bullshit 😂

That interview with Oprah, I mean, Raven is totally right. She has nothing in common with africans, just the color of the skin and some ancestors back in the 1500. Americans are obsessed by labels and that's the main thing that is causing this society division we see today. People think that labelling themselves makes them free from any critical thinking, ans that's just an arrogant way to avoid criticism
i don’t think labels are what’s dividing society. this is such a privileged take. there’s way worse things that are causing division within society, religion, race, beliefs, sexuality. to sit and say that’s the main problem is actually insane. there’s people who hate others based entirely on those things. and THATS dividing society, not people labeling themselves.
@@zitorya5786 and where do these labels come from, in your, I'm assuming from your comment, 'unprivileged' opinion? Not from hatred? Not from thinking things like: "this person is different from me and I have to point out this difference in order to say that I am not this thing that I hate"? Labels are there to summarise a number of aspects that mark a difference in a group of things/people. Go read it in a dictionary. Hell, even Morgan Freeman said that racism exists until people see the colour of the person, whether the intentions are good or bad. So before you start belittling someone's opinion, try to improve your counter-argumenting skills so that you can put aside the biases you obviously have. You don't really fucking know my history, and by labelling my opinion as coming from privilege you are in fact labelling me, which is proving the exact fucking point I made in my previous comment.

They don’t know shit at that age. I just don’t believe that she wanted it at that age, her parents just saw her sag charisma and pushed her into it. Against her consent. A child cannot consent to anything like this until they’re at least 18 - which we have learned from EVERY child star. Our brain doesn’t full develop until we’re 26!! Even 14 or 16 year olds who wanted x thing so bad at that age always regret it - in their own stories!! Children cannot consent to such huge things!

Aside from a couple episodes, I think the character of Raven Symone never really revolved around her size, or her skin colour. There were a couple episodes with storylines pertaining to those as well because they’re relevant, but it wasn’t her WHOLE personality. She wasn’t the token character, she was a regular person with a complex personality. She was a fangirl, a fashionista, quirky, got the “token hot guy” where her weight was not a factor in her romantic relationships the way most other plus size characters were portrayed at the time. ❤ Even today we still see the shy, unconfident plus size female characters whose insecurities are the main aspect of their storyline.
I know loved her in Zenon that is my first Raven movie after that it was cheetah girls she should have been in zenon 2 but she was busy doing cheetah girls and that’s so Raven other projects she was successful by then
people say they miss this era of Disney all the time but you know that it came with exploitation, right? none of these kids were treated how they should have been. they didn’t on nickelodeon either. The conversation now is, should child stars exist? if they don’t exist, then this era of Disney will never come back & probably shouldn’t have happened.
If disney made a secondary channel where they play reruns of those shows and movies, they would be making money buuut just having them incomplete in a platform is still a shitty idea. I mean if they do that, they'll notice that yeah they need to keep paying their old actors lol but they potentially can make even more money than with the newer stuff cuz well nobody wants to see the new stuff.
I love Raven as an actress and as a person. She has controversial views but nothing harmful. We can’t all agree on everything, that’s what makes us human. She seems like a cool and blunt person. People aren’t used to that. They like things to be sugarcoated with a pretty bow.

Considering the track record of her contemporaries - Raven’s journey through the entertainment industry left her relatively unscathed. I find it strange to imply that she’s ever had a career downfall. Court of public opinion on anyone’s public image can be all over the place, but she’s never had some scandal where the whole world decided she was public enemy number one or a laughing stock.
She came to my county fair when i was a child and performed double dutch bus and it was everything to me. She had some girls to go on stage to ask questions and one little girl asked why she wasnt on the new cheetah girls movie and she went “aww i couldnt be in it anymore i got to busy”
Same thing happened when she came to the fair in my city. I was sooo obsessed with her back then. At this event, she was taking fan questions. This was probably in like 2007, so I was 9. This little girl in the crowd asked her if she had a boyfriend and she smiled and said "That's a personal question and I don't answer personal questions." So realizing all these things as an adult, it makes sense why she gave the answers that she did.
My mom stills hates her for saying she wouldn’t hire someone with a ghetto black name. I will say it also soured my view of her as it’s not the kid’s fault what their parents named them. But she definitely is revolutionary in the black community

By American logic, Mexicans should call themselves "Spanish-Aztecs" or "Arab-Visigoths-Nahuas". I find really baffling the American need to identify every bit of ancestry that people might possible have. If that is not discrimination idk what it is.
The thing is that the US *does* have a long history of discrimination in many ways. Nowadays it's all about the "melting pot" idea to try to spin it into good PR. The "I'm part German, Dutch, Scandinavian, and Italian 3-4 generations ago" is annoying as shit when it's said like a flex. Raven-Symone was so ahead of the curve because she said when she's overseas they just say she's American and/or Black and that's absolutely true. Black could mean anything from 1st generation African to someone in Brazil. American means American and easy to verify.
Mexicans in the USA have directly told me they were Mexican-American to acknowledge the difference between them and their parents who were born in Mexico and had a different childhood. Idk why it bothers you so much that people call themselves what they want 🤷🏾♀️
@@SpiffyPenguin as a Mexican, I don't have any idea of who my ancestors were. One of my favorite memories of That's So Raven was when she moved into the basement (I think? It's been a while) and they revealed the room and I thought it was the absolute coolest thing I'd ever seen in my life.
Raven is a legend. Born a star, tbh even if she wasn’t famous i feel she’d still shine brightly between her friends/family or wherever she is. If you got it you got it.
I feel like actress raven is nicer than regular raven. Like if I were to meet her she probably would’ve been very kind and nice because it’s a fan. But if it were to have been an interview she probably would’ve not been as nice to the host than she would be to a fan.
At least by apperances, Raven Symone is easily the most normal societally functioning Disney channel female super star to ever have come out of the Disney machine including the likes of Lidnsey Lohan, Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, and Selena Gomez.
“I don’t like labels… I’m an American.” I will never forget hearing her say that and my family busted out laughing, when talking about it, because said she didn’t like labels then labeled herself. “Dark White.” Is also another wtf moment from her.
She never called herself dark white you just butt hurt that she wouldn't fall into the victimhood of being an african-american. She is right we are all Americans and that's what we should be referred to as
Wow seeing all the clips from the show reminds me of how many life lessons I was taught by That’s So Raven. They tackled issues without coming off as preachy and it really was able to resonate with the viewers. It remains one of the greatest kids TV shows of all time.

As an adult I can kinda finally understand what Raven was trying to say. I think after watching this video she was just fed up with always being judged and told how to look and feel, and even what to say that once she was free she just didn't want to even think about being "Black" "gay" or "gaining weight" or anything else where lies the potential for judgment. I found myself saying I'm so tired of racism in the US and I just want a chance to be human first and a black chick second, just to go abroad and sometimes get treated like an alien (the out of this world kind I mean for the smart alecks) Her time on The View was meme-able but thats when i started not to like her very much. But its been some time, and I have more information, I think I can understand her ... interesting views. Don't get me wrong I dont agree with them still but I at least can understand her

I also can't believe she was called fat. I also remember Hilary Duff was called fat and then she lost so much weight at some point. The standards of the media and even public that time were insane. It's honestly good that raven and hilary still turned out well despite the crazy pressure placed on them when they were disney kids.
I've always been a fan of Raven, well always as in since I first saw her on the Cosby Show (though Rudy was always my favorite). I think she turned out fairly well adjusted compared to former child stars like Shia LeBouf or Cory Feldman. I feel bad for her that she had to endure all the body shaming since she was SEVEN! Who body shames a seven year old? That's evil! It's amazing that she didn't end up anorexic or bulimic. I support whatever she wants to do in the future, as long as it's her choice. And congrats to her on her marriage 4 years ago. I can't watch The View...because all the hosts end up talking over each other and hearing all those voices talking at the same time aggravates my anxiety. One at a time!
Well, the way she talks about how she had to cope with how her life was when she was a child, I wouldn't be surprised! Nonstop stress and no mental breaks can lead to being hardened and disgruntled.
I think it's because she got whiplash from finally living a life outside of the cameras. She was formulating a lot of her beliefs at an age when most people have already cemented their identities and outlooks on the world. I do hope she mellows out eventually, and maybe realizes that she doesn't have to be angry at the world or have a stance about everything.
@@anonview Well I don't think she needs to change. Screw the world and if you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything including discrimination and injustice
I think we should get into some Nickelodeon stars like Emma Roberts from. Unfabolous, the Wolf Brothers from Naked Brother or Keke Palmer for True Jackson VP
I remember that episode. At showed in canada many years ago... it was pretty shocking but I really loved the message of the episode because it also showed the importance of a healthy self image. That episode was almost revolutionary at the time, the message was not one that many people spoke about.
Starring in six seasons of a show that is a direct spin-off of her original show isn't falling off. If anything, it's an even big trajectory for her pockets. Episodes of Black-Ish More Disney Spin-offs Masked Singer contestant Where's the dramatic fall??
she’s in a bunch of failing tv shows, wouldn’t exactly say she’s still popping like that. everyone knows masked singer is where failing actors/actresses go to die. and disney’s original shows nowadays are an easy cash grab but failures usually from the start. it’s okay to admit she’s not at the height of popularity anymore.
I met Raven when she was doing Sister Act on Broadway in 2012! She was really great in that role. Also, she’s way shorter than I expected her to be. I’m 5’4 and she was noticeably shorter than me.
@marthafrancois-fo6nm ok, but you didn't have to endure your abuse while in front of the public eye. I'm sorry that you went through what you did. I was SA'd as a child, and I asked myself if I was famous while suffering my trauma, would I come out alright? And my answer is always NO! How could I heal when back then people didn't believe in mental health? I was able to get the help I needed, scream, and break down in private.
I just remember whenever Raven would get hate because of The View but I knew deep inside that she had a lot to say because she’s been through so much. Haters will hate but hopefully this video shed some light in Raven’s struggle with people who judge her for her color, weight and sexuality. It’s undeniable that Raven’s a great actor and hopefully Raven will heal and stay happy ❤
@@RomaroBrandon Yess! And it was a really bad time due to twitter and social media platforms basically criticizing her for her comments with Oprah in the 2014 interview. Raven has been through a lot of criticism
She was QUEEN of 2000s Disney Channel. I know Hilary Duff had her show first, but Raven was already established and her show lasted the longest. People seem to forget her influence, which is sad that they just focus on her controversial statements and what not. Her weight should never have been an issue, she was always beautiful, entertaining, and still so young! I hope she's much happier these days and recovered from those child-star consequences.
I was never a big fan but when she was talking with Oprah and said she is an American not an African American and Oprah said a lot of people are going to be mad at her or something like that. Raven owned her words and explained what she meant and she stood her ground before anyone. She became an inspiration!

Raven not wanting to be labeled, at least for sexuality, was ahead of the time.
You would be surprised.

i don’t think labels are what’s dividing society. this is such a privileged take. there’s way worse things that are causing division within society, religion, race, beliefs, sexuality. to sit and say that’s the main problem is actually insane. there’s people who hate others based entirely on those things. and THATS dividing society, not people labeling themselves.
@@zitorya5786 and where do these labels come from, in your, I'm assuming from your comment, 'unprivileged' opinion? Not from hatred? Not from thinking things like: "this person is different from me and I have to point out this difference in order to say that I am not this thing that I hate"?

@@princesscherry5217do you understand nuance and complexity, goddamn
@@princesscherry5217 I said I miss that era as in the shows and movies that were coming out…
I love Raven as an actress and as a person. She has controversial views but nothing harmful. We can’t all agree on everything, that’s what makes us human. She seems like a cool and blunt person. People aren’t used to that. They like things to be sugarcoated with a pretty bow.
Nothing harmful? She literally said on national television that women with names like mine shouldn’t nor don’t deserve to be hired. Tf?!
@@kaleanaking5292I think that’s honestly more a reflection of the culture at a certain point in the recent past.
@@kaleanaking5292you have to admit, that name was ridiculous. And I feel her - baby, I wouldn’t hire that person either, tbh.
But I’m pretty sure your name isn’t that outlandish. I think that was an example. WATER- MELON-DREA though? I’d come back and get my parents for that name IF THEY EVER named me that lol
@@AceliaKnightingaleee that whole situation is ridiculous. Let’s penalize people because of THEIR NAME. I don’t care what someone’s name is, that should not be what’s holding a candidate back from a job opportunity🤷🏾♀️ their lack of skill or experience does. And you’d think that but it has at time cost me opportunities. “We don’t think that you’re professional enough” or “yeah no, unless we can call you Ana”.
@@AceliaKnightingaleeeplease take the time to actually realize how ridiculous and insensitive that is. A person's name shouldn't effect their skills or their status. Someone could have the name buttman cumbergrass and have the skill set to be an amazing doctor or businessman. People can't do anything about their name's unless they get a name change after a certain age, but still, it shouldn't effect if they should be hired or not.
Please do a deep dive on the rise and fall of Big Time Rush and why they broke up for so long to begin with, (beef with management/ fatigue/ lack of control in their lives) cause there was a point where they were the IT boys on Nickelodeon and were Nicks equivalent of the Jonas Brothers
I’ve always wanted to talk about them, ICONIC. Every girl I knew had a crush on them at the time, I was team Kendall and James for sure 😂
@Flowergoatflower I didn't see James when I was younger but as I grew up I started seeing him and even Logan cause he was so slept on
I had them on for my son to watch back then and my grown butt watched them too 😅😅
@@melissacross5525 Cause they were just too good😆😩
I second this. I remember being such a big Logan stan girlie. I would eat up that video.
The View was a nightmare. Literally a nightmare 🫠
Indiana?! I was there too!!!
She came to my fair too!!! I loved her i was so excited. Idk what year but it was when i was in elem school so before 2008
Raven aka the Queen of Disney
My mom stills hates her for saying she wouldn’t hire someone with a ghetto black name. I will say it also soured my view of her as it’s not the kid’s fault what their parents named them. But she definitely is revolutionary in the black community
It's really crazy because recently she said her name is pronounced Sih-mohn-nay. I'm sure there are some people who would think her pronunciation of Simone is ghetto.
@@matxalenc8410So about that, I saw her name was spelled "Simoné" in her earlier work, that would be pronounced "Simon-AY" in French or Creole. I think she just Americanized her name for ease of use and probably sadly because she's internalized the idea that "ghetto Black names" are poorly perceived by the Industry 😢
Made me wonder if she tried it as an edgy “joke” that didn’t land.
Please don't show your mom Katie Hopkins she is a lot worse on judging people by their names than Raven is.
@arianelevesque3899
🖖
All those names are French Creole inspired, so anyone dissing any of them for any reason is just dumb, tbh.♥️
“She’s not a little girl anymore.” Christ, she was five years old! No one was batting an eye at a grown man putting his three year old daughter to work? No one thought it was strange for a 3-5 year old child having a career?? Christ, they did not let her be a kid.
I can remember being in elementary school rushing home to watch raven and even stevens uh so nostalgic . Early 2000's Disney was EVERYTHING !
I had her Barbie doll and remember crying when I couldn’t go to the cheetah girls concert 😂 I use to watch this show alllll the time
@@Wishfull171 Listen . I wanted to be a part of cheetah girls so bad lol me my older cousin and sister would pretend we were in the group making up songs and dances😂
Raven Symoné never had a downfall, she simply lives by her own rules and doesn’t care what other people think. When you can’t be controlled it makes the public uncomfortable and people either are intimidated by or try to destroy what they can’t understand.
I think personally out of the TSR cast, Orlando had a bigger fall. Will you do one on Annalise?
Annalise was on broadway and raven 's home
@@TurbidTG1 yes! Orlando did. However, he got his karma as he documented an imitate moment with raven in which it should have been private. It would have been GREAT to see him or Kyle Massey on Ravens home, but it’s interesting because they both have had allegations.

Oh, we all wanted to rage through Raven's outfits on That's so Raven when we were growing up! Raven's home was actually a good sequel to the original show.. I was pretty surprised how good it was!
"Our infant is destined to be a star" is a very nice way to say "Our infant is destined to pay our bills for our entire lives"
Congrats for having the balls to actually say the words "Sexual Assault" & not SA or just bleeping it out like 99% of other UA-cam channels, i like you for that, i am so sick of YT censorship & not being able to exercise free speech.
Well they have to censor or UA-cam wont allow them to be paid which sucks and isnt fair
I rewatched all of That's So Raven during the first lockdown and I can honestly say it was my comfort show and got me through that awful time. it felt so good to laugh again. I loved the show as a kid; It was my favourite. I was pleasantly surprised to love it just as much in my thirties. Raven will always have a special place in my heart because of her incredible acting in that show.
Wait my heart hurts, raven is the main reason I'm so comfortable in my body and so confident in myself. I never knew it came with so much pain for her💔😭
Her father telling her to get a breast reduction before the age of 18 and then saying "is there anything else you want done?" ... I would be in therapy for eternity my goodness
We have understood the concept of "mestizaje" earlier because that's how our colonization was, one based on mixing (to make people whiter, btw, which is another form of discrimination) rather than segregation. Raven was right when she said she is American, no hyphens.
Well... because how America and its society is today is built from immigrants and colonization... Of course there's Native Americans... but yeah... Not everyone here in America are Natives.
@@SpiffyPenguinI do this. I don't speak fluent Spanish, I didn't live in Mexico, and even though I have a lot in common culturally with my dad and my grandparents, I don't know what it's like to move to another country, learn a new language, and experience poverty and discrimination at the same level that they did. Same with my German great-grandparents on my mom's side. I'm not trying so much to describe my genetics but my cultural background/lived experience, if that makes sense.
She's blaming everyone when it's all her parents fault!
I can’t believe she got famous so young she was a minor and underage way too young I want to do acting singing and dancing and be in the industry but I’m not ready my family says and I have issues and trauma and problems that get in the way but that’s not stopping me I can become someone else acting and singing and dancing I play a character it helps me escape and I feel better kind of like a ego I don’t have support and my family I don’t have people that care about me I lost my mom to cancer when I was 9 and I live with my aunt and sister and older cousin I’m now 14 years old I love Disney and pop culture and Raven and Cheetah girls these were all my comfort shows and movies still is when I’m dealing with depression and trauma and my problems and issues and when I’m not happy and sad and in a bad mood this helps me escape.
Imagine if we had gotten a Zenon TV show!! I loved that movie. It would've been amazing as a TV show
That would have been amazing
I wish !
First they would need to try it out with a new movie with perhaps a few old actors and new so that the story continues or something... Maybe like they're telling the story to their grandkids or they're teachers now idk and then maybe a series of that goes well.
I still randomly get “Zoom zoom zoom” in my heads sometimes and my bf thinks I fever dreamed those movies 😂 I need to find a clip on YT for him.
One of my favorite memories of That's So Raven was when she moved into the basement (I think? It's been a while) and they revealed the room and I thought it was the absolute coolest thing I'd ever seen in my life.

I feel like actress raven is nicer than regular raven. Like if I were to meet her she probably would’ve been very kind and nice because it’s a fan. But if it were to have been an interview she probably would’ve not been as nice to the host than she would be to a fan.
Can't say I blame her if that's true. Celebrity "journalists" are vultures.
She is right we are all Americans and that's what we should be referred to as
Is it a label or a description of her skin color?

Baby this a whole documentary like this ATE!
Downfall seems a little strong. Ravens Home just has a pretty long run and she produced that. She's still awesome but her audience has just grown up
Everyone still kind of loves Raven though. Her podcast is still doing well and she is talked about highly very often.
she's forever my inspo. i looked up to her so much when i was little. but man, to be in the industry since 6 months old....that's a lot. and yeah i've noticed Anneliese van der Pol talk about Raven on her podcast with the title star of Kim Possible. i wonder how Anneliese and Raven even did Raven's Home together...
Right! Anneliese seems like she is holding onto something..
An album at 5 years old blew my mind
As an adult I can kinda finally understand what Raven was trying to say. I think after watching this video she was just fed up with always being judged and told how to look and feel, and even what to say that once she was free she just didn't want to even think about being "Black" "gay" or "gaining weight" or anything else where lies the potential for judgment. I found myself saying I'm so tired of racism in the US and I just want a chance to be human first and a black chick second, just to go abroad and sometimes get treated like an alien (the out of this world kind I mean for the smart alecks)
Her time on The View was meme-able but thats when i started not to like her very much. But its been some time, and I have more information, I think I can understand her ... interesting views. Don't get me wrong I dont agree with them still but I at least can understand her
32:00 shes not wrong shes an American born in America, if anything a black American but not African American, as a mojo I don't call myself mexican american or hell Spaniard if u wanna go that deep, I was born in America so I'm an American or Hispanic American
the adlibs are taking me out 😂😭
Its honestly so amazing that she’s naturally so charismatic and funny, she’s like the perfect big sister to me
I also can't believe she was called fat.
I prefer "Disney Channel Raven" over "The View Raven"... She just seems so much colder and disgruntled in real life.
Well, the way she talks about how she had to cope with how her life was when she was a child, I wouldn't be surprised! Nonstop stress and no mental breaks can lead to being hardened and disgruntled.
yes
I think it's because she got whiplash from finally living a life outside of the cameras. She was formulating a lot of her beliefs at an age when most people have already cemented their identities and outlooks on the world. I do hope she mellows out eventually, and maybe realizes that she doesn't have to be angry at the world or have a stance about everything.
@@anonview Well I don't think she needs to change. Screw the world and if you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything including discrimination and injustice
Raven is so inspiring, I love how she doesn't label herself, she's just a human, and is proud of who she is!
I think we should get into some Nickelodeon stars like Emma Roberts from. Unfabolous, the Wolf Brothers from Naked Brother or Keke Palmer for True Jackson VP

Where's the dramatic fall??
she’s in a bunch of failing tv shows, wouldn’t exactly say she’s still popping like that. everyone knows masked singer is where failing actors/actresses go to die. and disney’s original shows nowadays are an easy cash grab but failures usually from the start. it’s okay to admit she’s not at the height of popularity anymore.
That’s probably because she signed a contract type deal with Disney/ABC

Two breast reductions before 18 is harsh. She has really been through a lot. She is a strong person.

It is terrible to disparage a young girl for her weight. There is nothing wrong with her appearance.Everyone doesn't have to look the same.
I was never a big fan but when she was talking with Oprah and said she is an American not an African American and Oprah said a lot of people are going to be mad at her or something like that. Raven owned her words and explained what she meant and she stood her ground before anyone. She became an inspiration! I love how she stays true to herself and doesn't allow the nonsense of the world to influence who she is!
