      Well I think that speaks volumes about his character since despite seeing her get killed by literally his worst enemy ever and knowing how much she really meant to him, he still resisted the urge to fall to the dark side and just go all Anakin-with-the-tusken-raiders on Mandalore after he escaped in search of Maul or just to rip him apart next chance he got.

      @Allronix Рік тому +4

      It probably would have worked out nicely for him. I can see why it didn't happen. Obi Wan was terrified of any indiscrecion or failure earning him a one way ticket back to turning a compost heap on Telos and Satine having a shaky grip on the throne because the Mandalorians were trying to decide if living as assimilated Republic types was better than a sure death with their old culture intact. Given Satine's shaky grip, marrying a fellow who would have no intention of joining the culture would probably be deal breaker for even those who supported her.

      I think this was something that was inconsistent with the Clone War era Jedi because it seems older era Jedi in both Legends and Canon were less puritanical and less soulless. You can see the huge difference with how colorful and diverse Jedi were in so many aspects in the High Republic, even having unfathomable amounts of lightsaber colors. High Republic makes Clone War era Jedi look monotonous and dry with their only green and blue sabers and practically no individuality.

      @@randomt800kiddo2 Anakin had a problem with possession from before he was even a Jedi due to being raised as a slave. Since the Jedi aren't exactly good therapists they never helped Anakin through his trauma as a slave (hell during his training as a youngling NO one understood him at the Temple, not even Obi-wan, leaving him bitter, isolated and alone). Anakin if he had gotten proper therapy would have learned to make healthy relationships with everyone around him, and a healthy romantic relationship with Padme instead of an abusive possessive one.

      @@masteroftheassassins But that was love that came from Luke. Anakin's downfall was from attachment, an unhealthy trait that leads to obsessive, possessive behavior towards others. Let's be real, Anakin and Padme has a bad relationship, and we saw Anakin could be quite abusive and controlling of Padme. Anakin's downfall was fear of loss, a selfish fear, while Luke was the complete opposite of his father, Luke being far more like Padme who was far more progressive and selfless in her ideals than Anakin was (who we saw sympathizing with the very fascistic Tarkin in TCW).

      Sort of, Legacy of the Force especially did a good job of showing how both sides of this debate had valid points. When Caedus killed Luke’s wife Mara we came very close to having a dark Luke who would have made even Caedus, one of the most powerful Sith in history, look weak. Luke even looks at lots of possible futures and decides he can't fight Caedus, even though he’d be guaranteed to win because he’d likely end up becoming worse than the monster he went to put down. So we had to have Jaina Solo kill her twin brother, kind of by blind luck, because powerful Jedi falling in love are so dangerous. It's a lot more complicated than most fans want to think.

    You forgot to mention that Satele and Jace later resumed their relationship with Satele basically saying she realizes now that she was projecting her fears about the darkside onto him and their relationship and regretted ending it in the first place. There are tons of relationships in legends where neither party turns to the darkside. In fact it seems like the most common thing that turns jedi to the darkside is war and the various moral complexities that arise due to violent conflict.

    Its not that much of a secret, but its often kept as hush hush as Ki-Adi-Mundi’s relationships. Given Cathar traditions, any & all members of the Cathar Royal Families are required to have at least two male & two female heirs, regardless if they’ll survive to adulthood or not (part of their trials to adulthood, reasons). As such, even if a member of the extended royal family was discovered to be force sensitive & sent to the Jedi for training, as tradition, they’re required to pass heirs, but as a compromise to the Jedi, aren’t required to be there for their kids, they’re usually left anonymous & only allowed to know how many males and/or females they’ve created before they’re left alone…

      That’s usually the way these types of videos go, contradictions. But, I liked how this left it open ended.
      Attachments; needing/wanting something with such passion that you either could not live without or would be willing to anything to keep from loosing it, can definitely go bad, potentially very bad.
      Relationships; can go either way, but mainly what makes or breaks it is the complications of life, duty and the situation.
      Intimacy; is a biological imperative.
      Romance; just like with relationships, is almost never a bad thing in and of itself.
      My understanding is that the Jedi Order discouraged long term romantic relationships like you would have with a marriage, because those most usually involve a life long commitment and vow towards one another no matter what, an attachment. But, there wasn’t an absolute ban.

    Well out of these five you shared. Three of them we're good. Nejaa, Kit Fisto, and Aayla all were able to be in relationships and it didn't negatively affect them. I mean they did all end up dead, but that was because they were fighting in a war not because of their relationships, Nejaa's family did have to go into hiding when the Empire rose to power, but again to be fair a lot of people had to go into hiding when the Empire came to town, not just Jedi but some Clones, former Separatists, some Republic Senators who didn't agree with things, and so on. So I still call these three a win(alongside Obi-Wan with Satine).
    Jolee is a loss given what happened.
    Satel is hard to say, I'm not very familiar with her story, but if all that happened was a very strenuous relationship between this kind of messed up family, and no one died because of this relationship, I think I'd put that in the maybe column.
    But that's still 3 wins out 5, so this just helps me support my idea that the Jedi can be in relationships if there careful and it's not a bad thing.

    I think a Jedi's values regarding attachments vary. But it can work because it is true that a Jedi should avoid attachment, something that isn't a healthy trait. I think it is right for the Jedi to be this way to not go astray, as Jedi are supposed to be the voice of reason. We know Qui-Gon is quite the Jedi maverick yet practiced detachment quite a lot, for he would not be able to follow the Will of the Force without that. He would have not died to Maul, nor would have let Anakin's life be fhe way it is to turn and bring balance to the force by purging the Jedi then killing Palpatine, nor other future Jedi learning to allow the Force to mold events, as is the will of the Jedi. Lucas pretty much nailed a way to explain why Force Ghosts don't intervene even if they are immensely powerful beings. Will of the Force. Detachment is required.

      Had they embraced true balance they would have known the ways of the dark side, and therefore been able to detect the ripples indicating the return of the sith.
      Would have it changed their path much? I'm not sure.
      But true impartiality in the force is obeying it's will regardless of whether that will aligns with the light or dark.
      Something neither the Jedi nor the sith ever truly do.

    Aayla Secura might have actually been more than friendly with someone else that she worked alongside. It was rumoured that she and Commander Bly had more than just a working relationship and there were beginning to be concerns about how close she got with him. It also broke Bly’s heart when order 66 came and he made sure Aalya’s death was as quick and painless as possible.

    It would seem to me that weaving through the contradictions (cutting through them sounds too...Dark Side-y) suggests that the ideal Jedi is cool but not cold. Someone mature about the world around them and relationships, connected to the point where the people and possibly things important to them are beacons, and not blinders. Flame holders that keep the jet of empathy running, and keep the Jedi flying. Too much throttle and you stop steering, too little and you stall and crash. Balance, see?

    I always thought that instead of detaching from emotions, Jedi should instead learn to CONTROL them, that is where the problem lies, by not experiencing emotions, they never learn to control them, and so when they suddenly experience very strong ones all at once, they easily fall to the dark side, as that is what the dark side is, emotions controlling the person instead of the other way around. It is natural for sentient life to have emotions, the important thing is controlling them, instead of letting them run wild, or bottling them up until they burst out all at once and overwhelm you.

    • @TimberlakeTigerGirl
      @TimberlakeTigerGirl Рік тому

      His race is exempt from the 'no attachment' rule of the Jedi. Because his race has a sever gender ratio distortion: for 1 male there is 20 females. And that's not the result of a war or male genocide from an anti male matriarchy. They are just naturally like that and no one knows why. Ki Adi Mundi (the guy you were thinking of) wasn't even supposed to be in the Jedi in the first place. Since he's male he's considered extremely valuable on his homeworld and his family and even the government didn't want him to go. They eventually let him go on the condition that, upon reaching adulthood, he must get his mandatory wives (at least 7) and have as many children as possible in the hopes that one of his wives will produce sons.
      He's married and has lots of daughters (so far no known sons), but he's not very close to them.

  • @jodhaaakbarfantuomey8103
    @jodhaaakbarfantuomey8103 Рік тому

    What about Kanan and Hera? They worked. What drives me nuts about the "Code" is that there are literally entire Force Sensitive races in the galaxy who live ordinary and extraordinary lives. The Miraluka, the Nightsisters, (dark siders, yes but not necessarily genocidal evil) come on? They get angry, love, and can and do work for the greater good. It's important to remember the Original Code.
    Emotion Yet Peace
    Passion Yet Serenity
    Ignorance Yet Knowledge
    Chaos Yet Harmony
    Death Yet The Force
    Why does everyone only focus on Anakin and his attachments? The Order was crumbling decades before the Clone Wars. But it seems irrelevant to most. Anakin was not the cause of the Jedi's destruction only the weapon used to ensure it. Jedi falling in love has nothing to do with falling to the DS, greed and craving power is what does it, and Anakin's greed was stoked and molded by the Jedi allowing Palpatine to do whatever he wanted. If they hadn't sworn themselves to the Senate, none of Palpatine's plans would have worked. Politics killed the Jedi.
