XFX is offering people a replacement heatsink for their Thicc II also apparently which fixes the issues.
Is there a link to this?
The THICC III is the card it should have been from the start. You can be damn sure they knew how bad it was before launch, and if tech reviewers hadn't called them out on it, it would still be crap. We shouldn't applaud companies who intentionally release garbage. Not calling out XFX here in particular, Asus isn't even trying to revise their garbage Radeon 5700 products, so that makes XFX superior to them.
did they fix the cooler so that thiccness is more than just for show? :3
This card should technically be one of the strongest when looking at that boost clock. I bet overclocking is going to be amazing.
awesome looking card. i've always liked XFX's design style. i'm glad they fixed it. gj!
Thanks, Tom.
Kudos to them for addressing the issues. Most companies just keep selling a bad product. Nice job XFX.
Yea because xfx get big slap from burke from gamernexus
@@B3H3M0T Wasn't just Steve, but surely didn't hurt.
@@B3H3M0T 3rd time's a charm. ;)
@@AMDRyzenEnthusiastGroup nah because that big blow up with bad attitude of cs. ofcourse xfx only have this way to ask forgive from consumer. That cs have thug life lol
This video didn't really tell me if they've fixed the problems the other versions and presumably this one have;
high temps on the VRAM, BIOS issues, fan curve issues, price to performance?
Duel 8pin connectors does feel like overkill for 5700 XTs.
They did fix later Thicc II's, I picked up the non-ultra XT for £361 (I didn't expect non-refs to go below £400) that will happily run 100mhz above its boost clock (1905) by only changing the power limit. Auto overclock put the boost at 2180mhz and ram at 950mhz (the max).
Can you remove those plastic side panels and use it without them - theyre just trapping heat?
That's a slick looking card
I just picked this up 2 days ago! Lovin it!
Do you have temp problems?
What about sharing loud sound as well on different RPM? The noise level mentioned in Db is useless.
I have had this card for a few months now ; have to say I am pleased so far.
I got this in October for a bday present. I love it! No hiccups yet.
Have you tried mining on it?
I was looking forward to a teardown to see what changed.
Does this Thicc use the reference PCB? Wonder if this Thicc III cooler fits my reference Sapphire 5700. Or i Just smack an AIO + G12 on my 5700.
I own this card and was able to run Rise of the Tomb Raider at 143fps at 1080p and it was smooth, cool, and kept quiet comparatively speaking. I am in love with the sleek curves and the chrome effect as well. Hands down, this is the best 5700xt on the market and I would dare to say better than the Nitro+ or Powercolor.
Have you faced any issues like high temps, loud 2000rpm fans, fans not working?
I purchased this card for my Black Friday build with a Ryzen 7 3700 and I have zero complaints of performance, it runs super quiet as well, never heard the fans at all. Only complaint is it weighs like a brick and seems to be sagging which is very worrying. Ive adjusted the all I can but it still hangs with a noticeable angle.
You can buy GPu holder or support. Cost usually 20$
@@kai_rig I didnt know those exist nice Kai.
I have it, works great but it doesn't obey radeon adrenaline fan curve. I don't know if it's because of the internal BIOS of the card. It has a performance and quiet config, there's a small switch at the left of where the energy pins go in. Anyone have experience this?
what about the memory thermals?
Just bought this card today after a few weeks research with the Christmas money, should be arriving tomorrow and I can’t wait to try it out :D
How is this?
@@staggeredgore9910 Kicks ass, happily runs 1440p at 100+ fps on ultra, Escape from Tarkov decided to choose 5k as default resolution and it ran at 40fps in that until I realised without any problems lol
@@77arceus oh actually? Nice. But do you think the nunbers you are getting are better than the red devil 5700xt card. I have them both for same price which one should i get?
@@staggeredgore9910 if its the thicc iii ultra you see i'd choose that as its a binned part... but otherwise the red devil, it will run cooler than the thicc card
@@77arceus oh i see thanks alot. How are drivers and everything. People are telling me for blender a 2070 super (msi ventus in this case) is better. WhT do u think?
Help what do I have to do to switch between the bios do I just turn the switch and that’s it or do I have to do something else.THICC III ULTRA
Nice job Tom
Thanks for reviewing this card I’m building my first pc and I ordered this card a mother board and case next paycheck I’m getting my cpu which will ryzen 7
which R7?
M&M Fan the 3700x
@@wowcrazy70 Ah nice
M&M Fan thanks bro I can’t wait to put it together
@@wowcrazy70 how did your build come along?
luckily i had a second look, I didnt notice it was a thic 3.
The Thicc III looks like it would look good on a MSI x570 Unify.
Really cool stuff from xfx. I agree
i cant decide on this one or the Gigabyte 3 fan version.... this looks really cheap but i could be wrong.
Looking to get this card, anyone who has this card: Have you faced any problems with it? I've heard issues such as fans not working, crazy high temps and loud becuase fans are running around 2000rpms, interested to know as I may switch to 1660 super.
So it's priced like the Nitro+ and Red Devil and it looks interesting
Can you review the DD ultra? literally no one has reviewed this card
The dd ultra is the exact same as the thicc II but without the metallic highlights
sound test?
Should a 750w 80 bronze run this?
I must have had a faulty card as mine was 67degrees idle and would crasg any game with temps exceeding 80degrees. RMA'd and saving for a RTX2070super.
Thicc 3? Or were you running the thicc 2?
I picked one of these up a few days ago and every time I run a game it's always running really hot. Has me a bit worried. Always around 80 or 90 Celsius.
Might need more thermal paste on the chip. They might not have put enough.
if it’s 80-90C junction then it’s normal. that’s the hottest spot on the gpu. typically gpus used to show edge temp or avg temp instead of hottest spot
Junction will always run hot its where the heat gets dispersed so your gpu isnt on fire. Also consider your case as a factor for cooling. I took the sidepanel off a cheap case i got for my gf rig a couple days ago and it brought temps down in heavy load gaming by about 25 celsius for cpu and gpu.
Its most likely your case restricting proper airflow. Mine was running hot at first and after sombre investigation, i found it was my case causing the issue. Once i took care of it the card now runs 30c lower than what it was
Why is the quality of this video 1440p 50 why not 60
I can run any game with this card at full 4k 60fps or better as is without over clocking the card. With this being said I do have a ryzen 9 installed as my chip of choice but had I went with my first choice of chips " intel chip" I would bet that I could get into the 100's fps with ease.
I first thought this was the Nitro from Sapphire with a bit more shiny rings lol
Im getting a ryzen gaming pc with 16gb 3200 ram and a msi 2070 super ventus is it probably worth upgrading in a couple of years when new navi cards come out or new ampere etc im running a 27 inch qhd 144hz monitor I reckon should get least 2 years out if it ?
Get a 5700 non xt and save $100 plus dollars.
@@techbuildspcs kinda wish I had of now as hopefully the drivers fixed but I'm sort of semi new to of gaming and in not in a position to be constantly getting it fixed etc, but in couple of years I might get one the new amd navi gpus to be honest with new cards round corner I would say ow prob ain't a good time to get a new graphics card if you already have a decent on , plus I really want play metro exodus and control with ray tracing but I have no brand loyalty whatsoever if anything I'm her pro AMD ad they keep the competitors in check in both cpu and gpu markets
Stuart McDermott ah alright then, Nvidia tax to me is not worth it. Had bad luck with half of their cards I’ve owned
@@techbuildspcs my next card will almost certainly be an AMD and have always used AMD in the past did have driver issues with Polaris but loved my 6850 back in the day think that was the number of the model and that was awesome over clocked it a bit and could run witcher 2 in ultra and decent frames
@@BrotherYusuf damn your a PC og lol.
Off topic, but WHY haven't you done a full review of the CrossHair VIII Hero board??? You promised to do so five months ago, and the only thing on your site is the PREVIEW, not REVIEW. Black Friday is coming, and many of us would appreciate a full review of this board BEFORE that date. We need information to make a good buying decision. Thanks.
It got used in this:
www.overclock3d.net/reviews/systems/the_rog_rig/1
nobody in youtube who reviewed this card didn't say anything about the selector close to the power conectors.. i bet they didn't even notice it !
What’s the difference between the Thicc III and the Thicc III Ultra?
Look at the stock core clock compared to other 5700xt's.
why.... does this guy remind me of the ferengi so much?
Holy smoke that's a huge thick video card I don't it will fit my small tower case
Its 12.5" long. It barely fit in my case
Why the fuck is it so hard for manufacturers to just put three equally sized fans on a cooler?
I prefer the look of the red devil tbf
Wtf?
nice video
Is the 5700xt thicc iii compatible with my build
Ryzen 5 2600?
And should i add liquid cooling system in it to minimize the temperature?
Do you think I should get this or the rog strix 5700xt
If you have an all Asus sytem or like RGB get the strix. If not then buy the cheapest one
OC3D TV ok thx
Would love to see this hit $350 USD
Adam Ross the 2 Ultra is around 370 now
@@Capitalboy55555 I picked up the ASUS Strix 5700 XT for only $250 out of pocket. Sold some other parts.

I got this gpu today. it is awesome but a bit loud running at 2000rpm.
going to get this card on Saturday ❤️
are there any driver issue?
@@osirisrex3499not facing any driver related issue till now.

i was stupid to ignore those.
but, after ordering i am getting anxiety
@@osirisrex3499 played shadow of tomb raider today for 3 hrs continuously, did not face any issue. You have made the right choice.
My Card has arrived today,i choosed to go for XFX thicc iii
Oh, a different version than the one I watched Steve tear into the other week, okay.
Well, I guess it's good they fixed it, but they shouldn't have released the previous turd. Having owned disappointing XFX stuff in the past, I just can't/won't trust them, can't risk being one of the mugs that gets the turds anymore.
I kinda like XFX, and want their cards to be good (well, I want cards in general to be good, but still), so I'm glad to see this, but you're absolutely right. The Thicc II should not have been near as bad as it was; they shouldn't have needed to do better in the first place.
At least they did make this one, where the heatsink isn't choked from being enclosed in plastic, where the fans don't need to be ridiculously loud to get decent temps, etc (plus apparently replacement heatsinks for Thicc II owners?), so they do get some good guy points, but it doesn't erase the problem
Xfx has great warranty though. I usually buy their reference cards and watercool them.
This XFX is beautiful.
cheap plastic and the whole backplate is useless cause there is just air between PCB and the actual metal backplate.
It looks good... but when you examine it; touch it... IT'S STILL PLASTICCY CRAP.
Luckily it'll just sit in your case and look pretty.
😑 Why does this card has the same price as the 5700 XT Pulse on my country? And it has black colour design (which is my PC theme). I was saving up to get the Nitro+, cause I did almost bought the 5700 Pulse, but the red colour made me think twice, so then I started to save up some money.
But if this card has the same price as the Pulse which that means $65 cheaper than the Nitro, why the hell I saved up in the first place 😑.
I just built my rig with this. ask me any questions you have.
Can it run Minecraft smoothly? Literally my gigabyte 5700 xt gaming oc can't run it for the life of it ahah. Oh and have you encountered any problems with software or performance yet? Cheers!
how the temp (gpu, junction, memory, vrm) based on ambient and fan speed?
Do you get crazy high temps? It is crazy loud 2000rpm?
Who's here because the 6800 cards sold out instantly to bots?
if there is no double sided tape on it i don't want it
xfx ripped off all thicc 2 owners horrible job by them i bought a thicc 2 not happy at all never buying an xfx card let alone an amd gpu ever again
apparently they're doing a free cooler replacement of the thicc 2 or something
@@connectronbuilds9960 Yea but im not sending my gpu cause it will only be by a couple degrees and it will take 4 weeks to get back and my other gpu is dead
@@Satsujiin Wasnt the main problem memory thermals though?
OMG WHAT HAPPEND TO AMD ? AMD WITH NO GPU MINING IS ------- SHARES ARE FALLING DOWNNN
