It's still a great gpu. Amd has improved their software updates. I have the gigabyte oc 5700 xt. Keep up the great work. Greetings from Holland.
Thanks, will do! Greetings back from the UK!
How's the stability so far? I am really tempted to pick up a 5700 xt next month since there is NO Nvidia gpus in stock. ;(
@@markdavenportjr5129 it runs great, don't have any complaints. If you game at 1440 it's a great card.
@@merwinpique Awesome that's good to hear. Cause I had a rx 580 3 yrs ago and had nothing but black screen crashes etc. And I'm glad to see that AMD is finally solving those bugs. So Ya I cant wait to pick up either a 5600 or 5700 xt depending on my budget next month. :)
@@markdavenportjr5129 It had issues in the beginning but amd stepped their game up with their updates.
"Overpriced & Unavailable." Correct & correct. Always a good honest assessment from Mike. You may not have to take apart the card to see which memory type is soldered on if GPU-Z reports those details correctly or accurately. Good job sir!
Thanks buddy
The 5700XT are huge beasty cards but really good cards when working well this looks a really good lower priced option within the range great review as always Mike good job
Agreed! best bang for the buck - for now
@@mikesunboxing hey man I have the ryzen 5 3600 I'm not planning on editing or doing loads of streaming do u think I should get the rx5700xt or should I wait for the rx6700xt or maby try and get the over priced 3060

Just picked up the thicc III! Thanks for the review
Hope you enjoy it! And thanks for watching :-)
I got my XFX RX 5700XT Triple Dissipation on July.
After the reviews about the Thicc's temp issues I was very afraid but then after some testing I just fell in love with this GPU.
On stock it sucks at most 180w (power limit) and it's barely audible under load with very acceptable temps, performance is also very good for the price (400€).
I run my one:
- uv during summer (900mV 1800MHz PWR +50) without performance loss from stock but MUCH cooler since it draws ~155W under load;
-overclock during winter (1020mV 1980Mhz PWR +50) ~220W with a nice 5-10% performance boost.
Drivers have been perfect, no bsods, no green screen, no random crashes, I love it!
Wound i recommend a 5700xt now ?
Only if you need a gpu RIGHT NOW and can't wait for the new 6700/xt since it's gonna beat the 5700xt in price/performance (I think).
Bye :D
thanks Bruno and glad you like it, my problem at the moment is Adobe premiere Open CL drivers are bad so it corrupts jpegs
I flashed a bios that allows the card to draw 220-230 watts and I experienced a lot of performance improvement! It is still a decent card today in my opinion.
was an awesome card when it came out and still does well today
Glad I found your video, most 5700xt reviews are 10-12mos old. Just like everyone else I’m on a waitlist or a “notify me” list should a new 30 or 6000 series card becomes available. A few of these popped up for order. Thanks for the timely info!
Hope you manage to get one eventually
I got mine for my birthday in June of 2020 for $370 US. Should've bough a couple more seeing what it's going for today!! I was just checking out the card and how it's aged (I think it's a great card for what i paid new and it mines at night and i can play any game I throw at it with zero issues) No it doesn't have Ray Tracing or DLSS (and i have a 2600x processor on an Asus rog strix x470f so I don't get the SAM or gen4 Pci-E,) but it's still I think it's a wonderful card for under $400.. Really got very lucky because the price went to infinite then i don't even think you can get one anymore new now.. Oh before Covid, weren't those the days!!
yes i know what you mean, this is still my daily driver card for gaming and video editing and i have to say i love it
Thanks for another great review, Mike! I have always liked the look and performance of that card. Just hope AMD gets their video drivers figured out....
I hope so too! Seems pretty good so far and when i put my 1650 super back in after a DDU is was black screening a lot for some reason! Goes to show Nvidia have some problems to

I have this rx 5700 td delivered today. Can't wait to build this on :) gud vid sir!
Good choice! enjoy!
Makes the recent 5700XT purchase really worth it! Awesome review!
Couldn't agree more!
Great video, thanks Mike.
Thanks for watching, Paul!
Thats a handsome looking GPU you have there. Ive got the Sapphire Pulse 5600XT and dont regret it for one moment. Only got that card cos there were no 2060 KO cards available.
No RGB on the card ????? You'll be pimping that card up, hot glue some Christmas tree lights on there and you'll be lovin' it lovin' it lovin' it. Thanks for another great video Mike and Kath and a shout out to all those who are suffering with or have people they love with COVID.......get well soon guys.
good idea i could add some rgb lights to it for xmas :-)
Nice review Mike and congrats on pronouncing XFX correctly every time. Be honest....how many retakes?
🤣👌
A lot! Didn't help that the neighbour kept drilling and it was so off putting! 😂
I chose this card specifically for its width. Not many people cover this, but the heatsink does not extend past the width of the two PCIe slots. This is important if you are short on PCIe slots and you are worried about clearances. I am able to install a wireless NIC right below this card with no wasted space! It's a great card... the Triple Dissipation runs quiet and pretty cool most of the time. Cool enough to not even need the fans running for normal tasks!
yes it is a great card and it is used by me daily in my editing rig, with a little gaming on the side
Great video Mike! 👍
Thanks buddy
Forgive me if you mentioned this, but there are no captions and I’m watching in low volume:
How are the temps elsewhere? Like memory?
overall temps are very good and they learned a lot from the thicc 2 which was a bit of a bad time for memory cooling
@@mikesunboxing awesome yea that’s why I was wondering. Thanks for the reply
Good video just what i needed need to make a gpu decision soon upgrading from a rx570 4gb in a r3 3100 build, any suggestions around 500au? lol
the 5700 migth be a good option around that price?
Yer I have been looking at them still deciding but pretty sure I will
I got an XFX 5700xt Thicc 3 Ultra for 330 Euro. Ecstatic with that deal and it's coming the day before Cyberpunk drops so very happy with it.
awesome deal
@@mikesunboxing Yeah I can't wait to get it and now I can give my old GPU to my younger brother so it's a double win. Great video btw dude.
@@gobSIDES Thank you!
Having no RGB is not a Con, but a bonus. I do not like things to stand out. I want performance, not flash, and since I have my computer in a custom cabinet with a dedicated air flow, (in from the front and bottom, out the top and back) there would never be a way to see any of those flashy lights anyway, so why pay more. Anyway, does chrome make your car go faster? RGB lighting does not help with performance, and may actually be a distraction, so why pay more?
very good point
You mention the 2060 at the end, will this 5700xt replace that in your main setup?
yes it is a lot better and also has 2GB more RAM which also helps in some apps and games
@@mikesunboxing "The sleeper has awaken"😆

Would be nice to see some noise levels, just some video of it would be enough.

Watching your earlier GPU reviews for a guide when the used buyers market returns.
good plan! altough depending on the prices, at the moment the rtx 3060ti founders edition seems to be the best deal at the moment, a bit faster than the 5700xt and about the same price
@@mikesunboxing Thank you. Checked, amazingly 3060ti is still in stock. Used GPU sellers will have to drop prices quicker.
Hi Mike, great video. Would you choose XFX THICC III ULTRA RX 5700 XT card over the Asus Rog Strix Rx 5700 XT OC?
i would save the money and go with the xfx - no point paying strix tax for the relatively small performance bump
Hi Mike, where I live all other Rx 5700 XT are either sold out or the prices went very high, this one and the Thicc ii are the only ones within my range, I see you hitting 80C on temps, which is the thing that worries me, have you had any trouble with the temp or have it gone higher than 85?
it can go higher and to be honest i won't worry about it, it is still well within specs and it also has a really good warranty so if there are any issues it can be sorted
Hi Mike, thanks for the review! Did you know if it is Aura Sync compatible?
it doesn't have any RGB on it to be compatible?
Hiya mike hope you are well I have a question, I have the same GPU as this and I’m getting some weird artefacts in some games such as modern warfare campaign the characters faces artifact and games like destiny there is white pixels around the character. Other than that it preforms really well but I’m just wondering if you have this issue too? Thanks again mike!
might be worth installed GPUZ and monitor the memory and gpu temps. it might be driver related but worth checking to be sure
Late response but I have this card, I play Warzone alot and it's fine. Cold war I have had problems with it crashing in the menu or as the level starts. I found under clocking to 1800mhz and lowering voltage to 1035 has worked for me. Might be worth a try.
Great review
Thanks for watching :-)
Fantastic card. Paid $420 for the card on Amazon in Sep 2020 but now you need to spend at least $900 (Jan 2021) to get your hands on it. Switched from Nvidia (the last card was a 1070) to AMD and no regrets at all.
might sell mine :-)
@@mikesunboxing I considered it but being my only card for the gaming PC, the money I make would put me in a worse position really. :(. Remember selling my GTX1070 for the same amount as I paid for it :). Crazy world.
Certainly is at the moment
1/16/2021.. scored one w/ new open box deal at microcenter - $415
@@peteroleary9447 Congratulations :) seems new ones are hitting $1100 on Amazon now. Little advice - fans can get loud but temps stay good. I use RivaTuner Server to limit one or two games that go weird on the FPS, to keep them from running wild and causing the fans to ram up. Have found the card as good as my Nvidia GTX 1070 on compatibility, etc after throwing a vast Steam library of games at it. Does well in VR too.
Great price for a triple fan i might end up getting one for now and get something else later on for my new pc build ,my budget build is being rebuilt into a new deepcool matrex case for my sisters son this has an xfx rx 580 4gb its been a great card it was an ex mining card seller stated it was on standard firmware and was underclocked and volted it arrived like new and has continued to be a reliable card in my budget build .
hopefully BF and CM deals will bring this down a bit more to make it a great option for upgrades
Hey thanks for this video I got a question. I'll be using this with ryzen 5 3500. Will it cause any problems?
it might be a slight bottle neck in CPU leaning titles, but otherwise it is okay
November 2022, "used" 5700 XTs are still the best GPUs in terms of value for money, just my opinion.
yep some are at really low prices
Still, considering that newer generation cards push performances way, way beyond at similar prices, I can't but feel ripped off by these and the 2060/2070 current prices. Would be a deal for a hundreds less.. But right now I guess I'll either wait for black Friday specials or stay put until January.
yeah hopefully BF and CM will give us some good discounts
I got this card for $400 then covid hit and i see $999
Any idea on how long will this card keep up with upcoming games? I'm playing on a 3440x1440 monitor, I plan to keep it for 2-3 years.
PS: I bought it for around 500$ since PC parts are hella overpriced in my country, especially the new RX 6000 series and RTX 3000 series.
difficult to say at that res, maybe a couple of years
Should I get this one or the sapphire Nitro+ Rx 5700
either are good options but it depends on the availability and pricing
I haven't bought one yet because I have mixed feelings.
My main use will be playing & streaming Apex Legends, 1080p 165hz. The fps performance of this card matches PERFECTly what I need, but looks terrible for streaming. There's also several videos where people warn not to get this card for streaming, which makes me so hesitant.
I'm sitting on a $440 budget, which is tough when all the RTX cards (even 2060 super) are hella overpriced. TT
if you are using obs then nvidia has the upper hand but if you use the radeon streaming software they catch up
I’m getting a RX 5700 XT and am planning to use Oculus Link with the Quest 2. I was wondering if this is a good graphics card for Oculus Link.
sorry that is a question outside of my knowledge, but hopefully someone else can help answer
I have the thicc 3 ultra and a quest 2. The only game I have played via the link is Half Life Alyx and it performed brilliantly.
Excellent top tip is liked
Many many thanks

Now Im not 100% sure if its correct but my friend told me XFX uses really bad thermal paste that either works badly or dries out after a few months now I havent confirmed this so Im not sure if its better now or not.

Ordered 7 of these, 1 was broken, 3 had memory temp issues. Had to fix 104c + 96c memory temps due to 1mm thermal pads being put in at the factory instead of 1.5mm. After the fixing the memory temps with new pads and washers to increase mounting pressure , memory temps went down to 66 c !!!. Terrible build quality and quality control. I would avoid if possible unless you plan to fix temps yourself after.

I actually had this card and I agree on performance, but for myself the fans were way too loud. I was trying to run 3440x1440 so that might have something to do with noise levels...

i have de Red Devil Special Edition
nice!
It would be the best value gpu still... if it wasn't $800 😔
yeah the video was at a time before this really kicked off. wow what a deal it was back then
@@mikesunboxing yeah, I understand. Good thing I saved my old 4GB RX 580! At least I'll have something to use with all my new parts, for now! 🤣
Still a decent card for most games
I have the same gpu but my temps are getting around 85 degrees although i have good cooling in my case 4 fans, can anyone help!!
This is maybe easier to fix or at least advise if we can ask more questions and get direct answers, so feel free to join our Discord chat and we can go over it in more detail discord.gg/gaeeDPw
Try undervolting
What's your ambient temp?
U talking about its barely noticeable why tf is mine so loud then 😭😭 shit sounds like a jet
It is heat sensitive and maybe your bios switch is in extreme mode
@@mikesunboxing i tried it in both settings and it did work for some games but some of them still were ridiculous
