i can't believe you placed a kiwi under the pliers to hold the motor :)

I just fixed door actuator on a Toyota echo . I used your method here and a it worked . Saved myself a lot of money . Thanks for up loading this video.
PS. The only tool I didn't use was a Kiwifruit lol
Thank you. I'm happy that it was helpful.
Great video taking apart the actuator gear box. I thought these work with solenoid instead of motor. I couldn't imagine why it went bad and you showed that clearly as to why. Glad to see you captured this video for permanent reference 👏 thank you.
Outstanding! This ~$2 fix saved me some cash. Thanks
Yomayo. Thank you young man with camera. I appreciate you from around the globe.
Awesome video. Thank you for taking the time to do this for us.
I am just in the process of replacing the actuator assembly that has s new motor. USD. 13 on Ebay so well worth it. This video was great help getting to where I am now.
Looks like a cold and wet day. Many thanks for recording.
Sir, thank you so much. Your video was very helpful. I fixed my lock actuator very cheap.
Excellent! Thanks for the video!
Excellent work. Thank you !
Thank you _ this is the best I've found for Toyota etc...
Great video, I am going to do the exact same thing. Thanks!
You did leave out one step that I always do. That is, the step where you slip with the knife and cut your hand.
I just did that right next to my thumb 👎 for a 2004 Lexus IS300 door actuator. Thankfully for me it was a flathead screwdriver and it wasn't too bad. But it did hurt
@@norbertoespinoza5158 Yow!
That's a lot of work. Good job!
very nice video, helped me sort out lock system on my 2000 Toyota harrier. Thank you very much. From Maputo/Mozambique
GREAT VIDEO! Minimal unnecessary talking and excellent camera work! Thanks for showing us exactly what you did. I have several of these to do tomorrow.
fenderstratguy,
Thank you.
Great tutorial! Thank you so much.
Thanks, great guide. It's helped me a lot!
Great video thanks I’m gonna change mine in my Scion xB 👍
Great video. I thought about buying the whole actuator at the wrecking yard, but that would just get me one as old and ready to fail as the ones on the car already. I just ordered 2 motors to fix my rear doors.
Your info was very helpful. Thank you.
great job -well done mate! thank you for sharing - you also saved a life with your video (my life - as i didn't know about unplugging battery first with negative contact.)
Ты гений! Спасибо за столь подробное видео! Мастера негодуют ;-). Привет из Кыргызстана
Fixing girl friends 2001 Lexus RX300.
Just did the window actuator fix (Thanks UA-cam) which involved replacing a unit on the controller board ($28 part on Amazon and $20 to have local PC shop remove bad component and soder new one) and now all the windows go up and down!
Now gonna tackle these guys. None of them work except the rear hatch door. $34 gets all four door actuator assemblies on EBay so I am going that route rather than deal with taking them apart to the the $2 part inside. Thanks so much through for detailed video on how to get to the main assembly.
it would be nice if you made a video.....even if its already fixed just pointing to the parts would be a big help
paul, i'd be interested in how your fix went. did replacing all 4 actuators solve your problem?
the rubberband was one thing, but when he pulled out the kiwi
Excellent DIY!
Keep up the good work, brotha.
Excellent video. Thank you.
Very good video, thanks for posting.
Very useful information. Great video. 👍
Inspiring video. Hope you keep at it.
Thanks for sharing. The video is very clear and is quite helpful
A lot of work not easy thanks for your video
Very helpful thanks.
Well done. Thanks for sharing
thanks for this video! You are very skilled, I can tell by the way you work. It helps that you also have lots of tools too!
Thank you!
Молодец.Красавчик.Спасибо.
excellent presentation on how to repair door lock
Thank You i love your philosophy ... God bless
Сэнкью вери мач! Ti mne realno pomog! Спасибо!!!
Love your temporary lock doors solution. Haha.
Thanks AGAIN for the video! I have successfully completed this on a Toyota Avalon. To help anyone else, the 2001 Toyo Avalon (and probably all 2000-04 models) uses a round shaft like the one in this video and has a 10 MM shaft. Search ebay for "FC-280PC-22125 (ROUND SHAFT)" the motor that works for Avalon models measure roughly Shaft (ROUND) 2mm diameter x 10mm length / Canister: 24.2mm Diameter (18.3mm on flat sides) x 30.5mm long
Overall Length: 45.0mm (Tip to Tail)
And brand is Mabuchi. I think most of toyota's activators motors have 10 mm shaft
thetrick4fun FYI... Yes, I tried to order mabuchi on ebay and was (instead) sent Nichibo (what the seller claimed to be the OEM manufacturer for mabuchi). Right now it seems to be working fine but I guess time will tell if it is a quality motor or not.
Supper brother very very helpful
WOW! It's that easy?? Thank you
very good video i have Toyota harrier having the same problem but now i fix after watching this video thanks
Thank you
Very helpful video, my Tacoma has the same issue and now I know how to fix it...one thing: ALLWAYS CHECK THE system BEFORE final re-assembly!
i respect you brother
THANK You SO MUCH
Kiwi's are nutritious, delicious and a great tool! Great video, very helpful thank you!
I love kiwi :-)))
Thanks it’s very good 🌹🌹🙏🙏💐💐
good 👍. THANK YOU ⚘
Thank you.
good job#1
I will try your installation in reverse to open my locked shut door due to my poor installation of my 2002 RX300 actuator by busting the actuator since it is preventing me from opening the door. I think you illustration will help!
awesome, brother! thank you! круто, брат! благодарю вас!
This video is amazing and clear. With step by step. Thank you! Would you happen to have any video on the front door actuator replacement? I tried on the front door but I'm stuck on trying to get the window button wood panel off and also how to pull the lock assembly out to replace the actuator. I actually purchased a full actuator unit from ebay vs splitting open the actuator unit and replacing the little motor. I replaced the rear doors just fine following your clear video. Now I'm kind of stuck working on the front doors. I tried to pry the wood panel off just like the rear wood panel but it made a small crack sound and I had to stop. Thanks again for a wonderful video for the rear doors.
Here are some pictures of panel with buttons on the driver door:
drive.google.com/file/d/1utBHEbWGc_SwvZ5GVfNjnjuHKJ06btct/view?usp=sharing
You can see there is a clip on the front of it. You need to carefully pry it with a small flat screwdriver and pull it out.
@@thetrick4fun thank you so much for the pictures and video. I bought the white actuator unit instead of replacing the little motor by cutting it in half. By following your video, I saved a lot of $$$. The mechanic estimated over $1400. Thank you!!!
@@michaelchan2568 You're welcome
good demo i have a lexus rx 300, used to own a mercedes c220 steering lock failed i replaced what looks like the very same motor,
Good work
Hello there! Last week I replaced my FR door actuator on my 02 RX300. I purchased the Actuator from eBay. Installed the new one and worked like a charm as in this video! Thanks UA-cam again!!
Thank you for sharing
is there a utube video for drivers side door lock actuator replacement... It's more complex because of the door lock attachment... I need help, half way thru the job but the actuator was long tubes going up to the door lock??? Can you help me?
Nice repair job . Modern cars don’t like you disconnecting battery they make it a pain in the arse to reset codes. So I will give it try without disconnecting 👍🇬🇧from England
is it okay to use a n old 12V DC motor laying around?
Thanks it’s very good information 🌹🌹🙏🙏🙏
hrand mahmoudi
You are very welcome!
IMPROVEMENT: instead of crushing the case with knife, you can apply some spirit from syringe in the gap around and wait little bit. Spirit disolves glue on the border 😉
Very good video, thank you.
Thanks Rick Peak
Outstanding video! Mechanics in the US don't know how to fix anything. All they do is replace modules. Nice work!
I have a 2009 Pruis. It looks like it's exactly the same procedures right?
Antoine Handy Hose Services,
Thank you.
Yes, It should be the same procedure. The actuator module will be slightly different. The motor inside might be with different length of its shaft.
Наконец-то нашёл, как это делается.
Спасибо
I tried with a vise , vice grip etc but could not remove the bushing on the motor shaft. Eventually I cut the shaft off but still could not punch out the shaft from the bushing.
Man, what a great Video, I've learned so much haha
Very informative video, are the motors shaft a round shaft motor or a D shape shaft motor ?
Молодец парень все хорошо показал у меня такая же проблема с водительской дверью буду делать тоже
Really very intelligent ideas...
Sir, my car i20 front left door sometimes lock and unlock or halfway lock or halfway unlock when operated either by driver side inner central door lock handle or using key from outside the driver side. However, all 3 other doors are ok in both cases.
Also, to be noted is that when either operated from the right left door inner lock handle or using key from its outside, this particular door operates normal lock and unlock system and all 3 others ok too.
Please really help me some suggestions. Thanks.
great video and step by step DIY fix. But in researching the motor online I can only buy cheap knock off motor from China. Not Mabuchi Japanese motor. So it is a good cheap fix, but the part is of suspect quality.
Merci beaucoup pour votre message
The large wheel inside the actuator is under spring load, so be careful to keep it in place when opening the actuator housing, otherwise it will be a chore getting it set back in the correct position.
What size screw bits were you using?
Great video but where do you get the high precision potato from 8:52 ?
Seriously, I am glad I saw your video. I am doing this for a Mazda MX5-3.
it's actually a Kiwi fruit
Hi, I followed your instructions and bought 4 motors from ebay. Only the 2 rear doors and the driver door motors needed replacement. But when I finished this strange thing happens: Unlocking the doors using either the car key or the driver's central locking button, when the front doors unlock, the rear doors are locked. And when the front doors are locked the rear doors are unlocked. Can you figure out why? Are all motors the same or the Left door motors are different from the Right motors? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
chocked it up with a kiwi fruit lol . love it
Kiwi had a perfect size
I have same problem..Thank you for your video..helpfull..can i ask you about like for get motor from ebay
Молодец, всё доступно и понятно.
Спасибо!
When reinstall make sure check it to see if the door handle plastic folk engages with the actuator's trigger. The trigger should stay inside the fork in order to open the door by pulling the door handle. If mistake, a lot more work to get the door to open.
Wow literally was changing my door actuator and thought if I could take it apart and I tried but gave up rather just replace it
You are a living brain .....with NO BS !!
Thx for sharing. By any chance would you know what would cause the doors to keep making a clicking sound when you lock them? I replaced the front passenger actuator and the doors wouldnt lock or open by remote control. I disconnected the battery and checked all the fuses and it works now, but make a double clicking sound when locking the car.
Hard to say. What do you mean clicking sound? Is it sound from lock itself or sound from beeping buzzer?
From the locks. Sounds like all the doors all locking three times after I hit the lock button on the remote.
Is adding a brushless motor an option?
The temporary door lock 😂😂 💀
genius
When i seen the kiwi i subbed
can you send me the name or the link of the lubrication you used?
this is awesome video! I have a 2000 lexus gs300 . is the motor the same? is it 10mm? let me know, thank you in advance!
Petey Pablo
Thank you. I think the motor is the same. I would buy both motors with 10 mm and 20 mm shaft, just in case. If it's too long you can cut it.
Привет,спасибо за видео,как раз эту проблему решил устранить)) ( судя по акценту-ты русско-говорящий?))
✋подскажите пожалуста на тайота каролла 13года, 180 кузов подойдет этот маторчик, и где можно его заказать?
I recently bought a LX470 model 2000 and i'm having the same problem on all the four locks. The locks are reacting the same way as shown on the video and not locking from both key remote, driver and front passenger locks. Should I change all four actuators?
You can change four actuator. The cheaper way is only change the motor.
Check this link:www.ebay.com/itm/202614618577
It has a resource about how to change door lock actuator or motor for Lexus Lx470
Great Video... What type of lubricant did you use inside the clam shell? The brand is good but the TYPE of lubricant is more important to me. The more specific you can be... the better.
Thank you,
I used Lucas White Lithium Grease.
www.ebay.com/itm/Lucas-Oil-10533-White-Lithium-Grease-8-oz-Squeeze-Tube/173151269019
But any low temperature grease will work
thetrick4fun... My actuator seems to have plenty of some kind of factory grease. There seems to be a small bit of black stuff in just a few areas. Not sure if from motor or residual particles from me forcing clamshell open... Or both. Anyways I was originally going to add some lithium grease to whatever lube is currently in the gears but then I wondered if you can mix the lubes or not??? Then I googled it and it seemed like it might not be a good idea (since I dont know what the factory lube specifically was). Did U completely clean the gears of lube before putting on the new lithium or did U just add it to whatever was already in the clamshell? Did U use any specific kind of solvent? Waiting to hear back from you before I put the clamshell back together.
You must be in Canada🇨🇦
Hi! I made the same work today, ( front passenger), and when i close that door , all other opens and otherwise, what i'm doing wrong? , Does te motors have diferent positives? Thanks in advance.
Luciano,
That is strange. Your motor probability has wrong polarity. You can take it apart and compare old motor and new motor if they have the same polarity. You can use 9v battery to do that.
Good video but most motors will work with the opposite polarity. Lots of horror stories about guys with one lock unlocking while the others lock and vice versa. I just bought reconditioned OEM full units from eBay for $100 each. I had to do all four. Remember that when one goes out the others aren’t far behind.
7:42 Look a happy face
Do you think it could be upgraded to a brushless motor with a 10mm shaft? So it never has to be replaced..
Good idea. But it is too much work. And you are not going to use you car forever. Aren't you? If you put original Mabuchi motor in your actuator, it will probably last 200k km more
