This is south Korea. One of my favourite countries. I visited last year and the people of Korea were so warm helpful kind and gracious. People would always help you and I had some beautiful experiences. Even youngsters would stop and help and I thought the hospitality was so touching. I thought the Japanese were kind and helpful but despite some language issues yet the people never said no. I stayed in mydeong and gangnum and Busan and there was always someone to guide us in the metro or the train The Koreans are so honest. I left a bag with shopping and after two days I went to the woman at the market and she had my bag Thank you Thank you Korea ❤❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
The lady selling noodles at the market was saying; oh you wanna film these? chicken feet, braised pig's trotters I'm boiling anchovy broth hot for your noodle soup now. I only put a tiny bit of spicy chili peppers for you just in case. such a sweet lady, I loved how she just spoke in Korean with confidence 😊 enjoyed watching the first day in Korea video, excited to watch more of your Korea uploads.
I think you're bringing out the best in people because your expressions and body language scream of decency. I was smiling during all your interactions with people!
Such different experiences. The people either if they talk your language or not, they are very friendly and communicative. That only leads to a great time. The smile on your face says it all.
Hi Ken. Everywhere you go you seem to have no trouble meeting friendly people and almost always have a positive experience interacting with the locals. I think it is because you are friendly and outgoing yourself and people respond to that. We can all benefit by behaving like you when we travel. 😊
Such a great video! Reminds me of being new in Korea for the first time. I love Korea so much and go every year in September and stay for about a month or so. Yes as you know google maps do not work. I think the reason that the guy paid for your meal is that you reminded him of his son in Germany. He would have hoped that his son would be welcomed and treated warmly by someone in Germany too.
I may be wrong, but at the steps when you see the sloping metal ramps, I think you can glide your luggage there while going up or down the staircase so that you dont have to carry your luggage. Ive been to Seoul 3 times and I love the hospitality of the Seoul people.
If you are referring to the part where he went down the stairs and back up on the other side, those are really there to make it easier to carry your bicycle up/down the stairs. I guess you can you use them for luggage but seeing how steep they were makes me think it would be difficult with luggage but I never tried it. There should have been ramps/conveyor belts for luggage at the train station exits so I am surprised to see there weren't any where he got out. I guess he went out the wrong exit.

What I like about this video is that you chose a random local area to stay in. Every other vlog stays in the same famous tourist areas and visits the same places to eat. If you did that, you wouldn't have gotten that interaction with the locals. Looking forward to your next Korea video!
You remind me when I arrived in Korean 1998 and left 2018. I didn't have a clue what I was doing for the first year, but it grew on me. Have fun and enjoy yourself it's a great country.
Wow. Thanks 👍 😊 I just bought my 1st desktop computer and searched Asian countries for how progress was going. I knew from Europe visiting relatives, how little our US news had on Asia. I saw posts on chat rooms, that were like Facebook, x, Twitter, or IG today and the people I could 'chat' with wanted me to visit Korea, China, various online friends were in same chat rooms sometimes. The popular John Titor time traveler controversy was also everyday, ongoing for 2 years or so .. 23 years later the "for fun only predictions" are coming true because I made families home improvements cheap or free for years and then the Asian customers relatives invited me to share business and we help more people soon.. My passport is ready, looking forward to meeting many good people I met online 😊 " thanks for your attention for modernization and developments for everyone's benefits and the environment " my invitations also is a hobby, mini EVs business 😂 😮 we'll have to wait and see 🙏
It is good to watch how a foreigner see Korea for the first time! Welcome to Korea! I also lived in Frankfurt for 4 years and met really nice people to help strangers like me. I really appreciate it and never forgets.
True, that's why I like Ken channel so much😊. Chatting to locals is a great travel experience, and Ken has unique skill and is doing very well on this 👍
I’m from Korea and currently living in Seoul. I really enjoyed your video and was happy to know you had a great experience here. The noodle mentioned in your video is Janchigooksu, which is directly translated as ‘party noodle’ made with anchovy broth. Looking forward to your next episode.
This video was indicative of why you are a success on UA-cam as you travel from country to country. This was a very enjoyable video to watch and very heartwarming. You have an amazing ability to connect with people and they can see you are a genuinely nice guy. People easily warm up to you because of your good nature and it is a real joy to watch your interactions with different people.
10,000 won is King Sejong who created Hangul, the Korean language. There are four seasons in Korea and it is very cold except for summer, and the temperature is around 19-25 in spring.
I’ve been hoping to see you head to South Korea or Japan for a while now, great to see you exploring Seoul. Very much looking forward to the rest of the series!
The best and most exciting part of Ken's vlog is when he first arrives in a new country. He tries to find out new things, such as where to buy train or bus tickets, how to find directions to the hotel, withdrawing money from an ATM, and learning some vocabulary based on the country he is visiting.
Hi Ken! I lived in Seoul in 2019 so lovely, you most definitely have to go out for Korean BBQ! And the nightlife in Itaewon 😊 I loved going to FAUST German for FIST right 😉 Enjoy! And you’ll probably like Dongdaemun as well. 🍀
Your travels always help me especially when you record and talk about some details at airport , immigration office , transportation system. Thanks a lot 🙏
Aanyeonghaseyo, Ken and all viewers here. As an experienced traveller, you are always very calm even though the arrival in Seoul is a little stressful. Great job, Ken. Yeah, it's amazing to see how clean and well organised Seoul is. Wonderful to see your interactions with the friendly locals there. Good that you are invited for a few drinks by that couple and he even paid for your meal. Well, Ken, another great presentation and amazing video. Kamsamida !! Looking forward to the next episode of your South Korea series.
For public transportation in Asian countries just buy the transport cards, it’ll save you time figuring out stuff. Just scan the card and be done with it. You can always recharge later and if you have a balance left just return the card and you’ll get your money back. Easy peasy.
The gentleman paid for your meal because his son is an art student in Frankfurt. Everyone in the comments section thinks he did that hoping his son would be treated the same in Germany😭😭😭 So touching... And the drink u chose in the convenience store, it's for good bowel movement😂😂 Love ur vlog, and I'll look forward to ur next video
Hi Ken, very warm welcome to Korea. Please install 'kakao map' on your phone, then you can find any information easily, sorry late information. 😅 Hopefully you have enjoyed and were happy in Korea. Have a wonderful everyday! 🇰🇷🇰🇷🇰🇷
No regrets visiting here. Probably you should explore other areas like hongdae, itaewon & myeondong. More streets food 😊. Cheers! Love your content always!
I love visiting Korea! I had a great time when I visited last year and created content as well. :) It's great that you had a great time in Seoul! You really experienced the local culture!
I'm overjoyed to visit and travel throughout South Korea. Thank you for sharing your vlog! I think its a wonderful sign that you met someone who had a son in Germany and they treated you well during your first meal. The lady who provided elevator instructions at the train station was so endearing. The arm wrestling men is quite a scene to stumble upon too. 😅
For the vending machine, you need to select the drink first and pay the bills Also the person on the 10,000 bill is King Sejong, the greatest king of South Korea 😊
@@Kikuyo2 To be precise, King Sejong and his scholarly officials invented “characters,” not language. Hanja, the Chinese characters that were basically used to write Korean up to that time, are ideograms. It's basically like hieroglyphs written on Egyptian murals. They say “eagle,” but when they say it in writing, they are drawing a “picture of an eagle.” King Sejong the Great invented a phonetic alphabet system that resembles pronunciation, and that is the Korean alphabet called “Hangeul” that Koreans use.
Hi I am on my 4th visit to Korea. I am a pensioner travelling alone! I find a smile and saying hello in Korean helps so much. I have made lifelong friends while I have been here! I am hoping that I may be able to come and live here!
Hey Ken, the restaurant you ate at was anchovy based noodle soup. She said she added only a little bit of red spice just in case it was too spicy. You should consider using a translating app so they can understand you without getting frustrated. Enjoy your time in my motherland. Be careful around the drinking culture there 😂

You hv a very likeable personality, so whichever country you visit will not pose a problem...enjoy your stay in South Korea & look forward to yr upcoming video clips.
Thank you 😊
My favorite type of video, Ken pulling up to a new country with no preparation
Hey Ken! Enjoy your trip through Korea 🇰🇷 It's an exciting place!
Thanks a lot Zane 🙏
Great video..made me giggle when you were trying to find your way out of the station..the people were so helpful but it was so complicated!
Look forward to more 👍
South Korea is incredible! And the people are sooo friendly! It's in my Top 5 favorite destinations! You gotta go to Gwangjang Market for authentic Korean Food
no this market is not very recommended, go to majang meat market
Ever since it got popular, chinease people have basically take over and are selling "authentic" korean food.
It looks very stressful s.korea airports. I think I'll skip s.korea. and go to North korea where its nice. Peaceful and plenty of freedom.

The old lady making the noodles looks so nice 🙂and the gentlement treating you to noodles what a magnificent first meal! I'm really interested in your next Seoul videos Keep up the good work!
한국에서 좋은 사람 많이 만나고 좋은 경험으로 행복한 시간 보내시길 바랍니다❤
What I like about this video is that you chose a random local area to stay in. Every other vlog stays in the same famous tourist areas and visits the same places to eat. If you did that, you wouldn't have gotten that interaction with the locals. Looking forward to your next Korea video!
This is so beautiful... that everyone you met was warm and inviting and kind. It gives me hope.
My passport is ready, looking forward to meeting many good people I met online 😊
" thanks for your attention for modernization and developments for everyone's benefits and the environment " my invitations also is a hobby, mini EVs business 😂 😮 we'll have to wait and see 🙏
It is good to watch how a foreigner see Korea for the first time!
Welcome to Korea! I also lived in Frankfurt for 4 years and met really nice people to help strangers like me. I really appreciate it and never forgets.
South Korea is a country that disgusts everyone.
I think the most interesting vlog is when we are able to chat with local residents or new people, I hope you have a pleasant trip, bro...
True, that's why I like Ken channel so much😊. Chatting to locals is a great travel experience, and Ken has unique skill and is doing very well on this 👍
Kindness to strangers is rare these days- you're blessed and kam sa ha mi da too to the generous man :) have fun and enjoy your time there!
I’m from Korea and currently living in Seoul. I really enjoyed your video and was happy to know you had a great experience here. The noodle mentioned in your video is Janchigooksu, which is directly translated as ‘party noodle’ made with anchovy broth. Looking forward to your next episode.
The city looks very clean., the people are very friendly. Looking forward to seeing more of your travels in Korea.
22:25 "천원권만 사용 가능합니다." means "Only 1,000 won bills are available."
문제가..너무 쥐똥만하게 작게 써있어서 안보임. 한국인이 봐도 자세히 안보면 안보일 정도이니..
Thanks a lot 🙏
10,000 won is King Sejong who created Hangul, the Korean language. There are four seasons in Korea and it is very cold except for summer, and the temperature is around 19-25 in spring.
Koreans are nice people. Great country to visit
I’ve been hoping to see you head to South Korea or Japan for a while now, great to see you exploring Seoul. Very much looking forward to the rest of the series!
More videos coming from Korea 💪
Was looking forward to your SK series Ken, looks good!💪🏻 Very kind people, wow!

나도 경험하지 못한 팔씨름 대결을 직관하시다니.. 그것도 영등포시장에서... 정말 부럽군요 ! welcome to korea !
Nobody cares what the Koreans think. Just like the way the U.S. Army in Korea treats the Koreans
The best and most exciting part of Ken's vlog is when he first arrives in a new country. He tries to find out new things, such as where to buy train or bus tickets, how to find directions to the hotel, withdrawing money from an ATM, and learning some vocabulary based on the country he is visiting.
Great video! Loved the guys arm wrestling and the lady taking away their table 😂
That was funny 😁
South Korea is a great country. The people there are very friendly.
In fact, Koreans are only friendly to whites and East Asians
are u kidding? 😂
No, they are not
Seriously not…
Hi Ken! I lived in Seoul in 2019 so lovely, you most definitely have to go out for Korean BBQ! And the nightlife in Itaewon 😊 I loved going to FAUST German for FIST right 😉 Enjoy! And you’ll probably like Dongdaemun as well. 🍀
I don't know why, but I really enjoyed this one. Dale Phillip style. It works, keep doing it.
Glad yo hear you enjoy the vlog 😊
Yes, l always enjoy your videos as they are entertaining, knowledgeable and informative.
My typo error in the comment above : "kamsahamnida" ✌️😀
I agree the first experience of new country always bring on stressful things. But I hope you had a lot of good memory of korea trip, welcome to korea
What a kind couple to treat you to a meal and a drink. Look forward to watching your adventures in SK. Safe travels.
Welcome to Korea! You are very impressive. so I subscribe now. I reminded me of going abroad for the first time.
Welcome to the channel 🙏
For public transportation in Asian countries just buy the transport cards, it’ll save you time figuring out stuff. Just scan the card and be done with it. You can always recharge later and if you have a balance left just return the card and you’ll get your money back. Easy peasy.
Indeed, T money works perfect on the bus. Super super easy
Thanks a lot 🙏

I love the couple at 51:15. That's Korea for you. People typically tend to be very helpful and generous.
No regrets visiting here. Probably you should explore other areas like hongdae, itaewon & myeondong. More streets food 😊. Cheers! Love your content always!
I like the honesty in your videos.
I love visiting Korea! I had a great time when I visited last year and created content as well. :) It's great that you had a great time in Seoul! You really experienced the local culture!
웰컴투 코리아❤
Thank you 😊
야 이 분 성격 붙임성 죽이네. 한국인으로서 참 재미나게 보았습니다. Good!!
우연히 보게되었는데 재미있네요
I'm overjoyed to visit and travel throughout South Korea. Thank you for sharing your vlog! I think its a wonderful sign that you met someone who had a son in Germany and they treated you well during your first meal. The lady who provided elevator instructions at the train station was so endearing. The arm wrestling men is quite a scene to stumble upon too. 😅
what a awesome first experience in Seoul. Nice video, ejoyed it =)!
Happy to hear that😊

Wow, being from India, I'm happily jealous to see such a nice organised and clean infrastructure with such a friendly people. Happy for Korean people
For the vending machine, you need to select the drink first and pay the bills
Also the person on the 10,000 bill is King Sejong, the greatest king of South Korea 😊
Ah I was looking for this answer
only 1000won banknote is useful.
I think he invented, reformed the Korean language.
@@Kikuyo2 he made it too long.....
Thanks,I got some info. Very soon I 'll go to South Korea.
Hi I am on my 4th visit to Korea. I am a pensioner travelling alone! I find a smile and saying hello in Korean helps so much. I have made lifelong friends while I have been here! I am hoping that I may be able to come and live here!
A smile and a friendly hello can go a long way, I agree 👍
Korea through the eyes of a foreigner... It's really interesting and fun.
Thank you Ken for taking us to Korea. It is interesting ❤❤
Thanks for watching 🙏
@@KenAbroad so nice of you😃
such an entertaining video! thoroughly enjoyed the 58mins
Happy to hear that 😊
That was remarkable. Great place to visit with friendly, welcoming locals ❤👍🏻
Hey Ken, the restaurant you ate at was anchovy based noodle soup. She said she added only a little bit of red spice just in case it was too spicy. You should consider using a translating app so they can understand you without getting frustrated. Enjoy your time in my motherland. Be careful around the drinking culture there 😂
Ken, it’s because you are open minded, very nice and very Polite to everybody. 🙏
