Everyone is so helpful at any time. I was there a few weeks ago for the first time and fell in love with Korea and the people.
Such different experiences. The people either if they talk your language or not, they are very friendly and communicative. That only leads to a great time. The smile on your face says it all.

Such a great video! Reminds me of being new in Korea for the first time. I love Korea so much and go every year in September and stay for about a month or so. Yes as you know google maps do not work. Naver Maps or Kakao Maps are the ones to use. Enjoy your stay in Korea. Make sure you check out Namsan Tower, Lotte World Ice Skate, and Lotte Tower, as well as the many palaces there!

Wow. Thanks 👍 😊 I just bought my 1st desktop computer and searched Asian countries for how progress was going. I knew from Europe visiting relatives, how little our US news had on Asia. I saw posts on chat rooms, that were like Facebook, x, Twitter, or IG today and the people I could 'chat' with wanted me to visit Korea, China, various online friends were in same chat rooms sometimes.
The popular John Titor time traveler controversy was also everyday, ongoing for 2 years or so ..
23 years later the "for fun only predictions" are coming true because I made families home improvements cheap or free for years and then the Asian customers relatives invited me to share business and we help more people soon..

10,000 won is King Sejong who created Hangul, the Korean language. There are four seasons in Korea and it is very cold except for summer, and the temperature is around 19-25 in spring.
Koreans may seem like very cold people at first because not many speak nor understand english but once you get to know them, you will realize that they are one of the warmest and friendliest people in Asia. Super super helpful and loving.

@@Kikuyo2 To be precise, King Sejong and his scholarly officials invented “characters,” not language. Hanja, the Chinese characters that were basically used to write Korean up to that time, are ideograms. It's basically like hieroglyphs written on Egyptian murals. They say “eagle,” but when they say it in writing, they are drawing a “picture of an eagle.” King Sejong the Great invented a phonetic alphabet system that resembles pronunciation, and that is the Korean alphabet called “Hangeul” that Koreans use.

I may be wrong, but at the steps when you see the sloping metal ramps, I think you can glide your luggage there while going up or down the staircase so that you dont have to carry your luggage. Ive been to Seoul 3 times and I love the hospitality of the Seoul people.
If you are referring to the part where he went down the stairs and back up on the other side, those are really there to make it easier to carry your bicycle up/down the stairs. I guess you can you use them for luggage but seeing how steep they were makes me think it would be difficult with luggage but I never tried it. There should have been ramps/conveyor belts for luggage at the train station exits so I am surprised to see there weren't any where he got out. I guess he went out the wrong exit.
South Korea is incredible! And the people are sooo friendly! It's in my Top 5 favorite destinations! You gotta go to Gwangjang Market for authentic Korean Food

It looks very stressful s.korea airports. I think I'll skip s.korea. and go to North korea where its nice. Peaceful and plenty of freedom.

교통이 너무잘되있음 택시기사님들이 넘 힘들어요 가끔 그나마 공항분들 태우고 가는데
가정이 있는분들이고 외국분들도 급할때 한국분들도 택시를 가끔이용할수 있는 여력도 필요물론필요하겠지만 서민도 돌보는정책들
제가 어제 동남아 다녀 왔는데, 2년전부터는 한국보다 더 잘되어 있더라고요. 물론 교통 인프라는 아직 많이 뒤떨어져있지만, 대신 카카오택시나 우버 같은 시스템은 더 잘되어 있습니다.
와이파이를 위한 eSim도 5G로 잘 터지고요.
서울역에서 5호선 환승 안됩니다~~~1호선으로 환승해서 영등포역에서 내려야 빠름. 그리고 지하철 무료 (kt,tworld등등)와이파이는 한국 휴대폰 번호 없음 무료와이파이 사용 못해요. public wifi/Seoul wifi는 한국휴대폰번호 없어도 가능 한데 생각보다 많이 없음

This is south Korea.
One of my favourite countries. I visited last year and the people of Korea were so warm helpful kind and gracious.
People would always help you and I had some beautiful experiences.
Even youngsters would stop and help and I thought the hospitality was so touching.
I thought the Japanese were kind and helpful but despite some language issues yet the people never said no.
I stayed in mydeong and gangnum and Busan and there was always someone to guide us in the metro or the train
The Koreans are so honest. I left a bag with shopping and after two days I went to the woman at the market and she had my bag

For public transportation in Asian countries just buy the transport cards, it’ll save you time figuring out stuff. Just scan the card and be done with it. You can always recharge later and if you have a balance left just return the card and you’ll get your money back. Easy peasy.

What I like about this video is that you chose a random local area to stay in. Every other vlog stays in the same famous tourist areas and visits the same places to eat. If you did that, you wouldn't have gotten that interaction with the locals. Looking forward to your next Korea video!
This video was indicative of why you are a success on UA-cam as you travel from country to country. This was a very enjoyable video to watch and very heartwarming. The best and most exciting part of Ken's vlog is when he first arrives in a new country. He tries to find out new things, such as where to buy train or bus tickets, how to find directions to the hotel, withdrawing money from an ATM, and learning some vocabulary based on the country he is visiting.
Great video..made me giggle when you were trying to find your way out of the station..the people were so helpful but it was so complicated!

I think he miss his son and even though you're no connection with his son, he gladly paid for the noodle because of only one thing in common that you're from Germany.

He created Hangeul, the language we use to this day, just for the poor people because back by then, we had been using chinese characters and they were very hard to use. The language we spoke didnt have any letter to write down so our ancestors had been using chinese characters only to write down things. And king sejong made hanguel. All people in korea look upon him. I remember he lived in about 13 or 14th century

About the vending machine rejecting your notes, just like the instance you faced in Shanghai, it says "천원권만 사용 가능합니다" which means "it only takes 1000KRW notes".
my chinese gf really enjoyed the scene in shanghai btw and realized how unfriendly things are to tourists who can't read chinese characters. Guess things are similar to an extent in SK as well haha.

Just realized your hotel is the building I and my gf used to frequent to have chinese hotpot haha.
and the 'god bium' yogurt drink you got from the CVS, it's good for your intestines. ladies usually get this for bowel movement.
I'm overjoyed to visit and travel throughout South Korea. Thank you for sharing your vlog! I think its a wonderful sign that you met someone who had a son in Germany and they treated you well during your first meal. The lady who provided elevator instructions at the train station was so endearing. The arm wrestling men is quite a scene to stumble upon too. 😅

Hey Ken, the restaurant you ate at was anchovy based noodle soup. She said she added only a little bit of red spice just in case it was too spicy. You should consider using a translating app so they can understand you without getting frustrated. Enjoy your time in my motherland. Be careful around the drinking culture there 😂
