watched it yesterday. was on the edge of my seat with every action sequence, cinematography was impeccable, story line was phenomenal. Robert nailed it, Zoe was stunning, really really glad it surpassed the hype. This is definitely one of my favorite super hero movies of all time
Rotten Tomatoes also gave Dave Chappelle's Netflix special a low score. I don't think they can be trusted. This is not to say that the Bats film is bad. I haven't seen it yet and I'm hoping it's amazing.

Though RT does mess up a lot where they could count a 3/5 or a C grade review as a negative review when the critic themself could actually mean it’s a positive review but the film is okay but not bad.
I almost cried lol. I said “this is the most batman thing in a batman movie.” The criminals scared of even touching the shadows sealed the deal and I knew I was in for a super good movie.
Well, not really - it was slow and talk-ey. He didn't seem agile or anything like that. Batman Begins at least had him swoop in like a demon and vanishing like a ninja. That version made him terrifying. This version had a lot of Clint Eastwood moments in 'Unforgiven', i thought.

That's what shook me too. Of all the things that The Batman could potentially do better than the previous films, i thought that the bank heist opening sequence of The Dark Knight would be untoppable, but it seems not!

I got to see it early and they aren’t overstating it. Never before has Batman felt so scary and you really get to understand the effect he has on the criminals he hunts. It’s fuckin awesome

Seen it last night and when the movie ended it got a standing ovation. Never seen everyone stand up and applaud a movie, and that was awesome being a part of it. I love everything about this movie and hope they get to make a trilogy.

No Way Home was the same reaction with Andrew and Tobey, but at the end of the movie everyone just got up and left. After The Batman the audience was standing and applauding which caught me off guard because I have never seen that after a movie.
I was in a packed theater, and as a huge Batman fan, I was bored out of my skull. We were definitely in two different theaters as our theater remained quiet throughout the entire movie. No gasps, screams, oohs or ahh! The end of the movie, the theater emptied out quickly and quietly. I'm glad so many people seem to be enjoying it.
The Dark Knight is my favorite movie of all time, and man this movie comes as close as possible to that. There is a mystique about Bruce Wayne that makes you feel bad for him. The cast is IMPECCABLE. Paul Dano “KILLED” it, best villain portrayal since ledger. I loved that it did not feel like a marvel movie, because it’s NOT. It’s a gritty, DARK, horror movie. I cannot say enough about this movie. The introduction to the bat mobile, HOLY CRAP. The car chase sequences are better than the recent fast and furious movies. I am in love with this film, and true Batman fans will love it too!

Thats why you see them saying the exact same thing in all their reviews, 'We are still processing our feelings about the movie', so that they can take 180' if the film gets bad word of mouth. It’s a solid opening setting the tone, but these guys way overhyped the first 15 minutes. What made The Dark Knight’s opening brilliant is the layers. The game within a game. The bank robbers doing a heist, while simultaneously betraying each other for a bigger piece of the pie. All the while building up the Joker’s reputation and establishing that they are not just robbing a bank, but from the mafia.
I hope if they make sequels to this movie that they lean into the more fantastical elements of the Batman mythos. I want a proper Mr. Freeze or Ra’s Al Ghul. People have this idea in their heads that Batman must always be 100% realistic, even though half of his villains have superpowers.
Honestly critics rating it so high probably means the average viewer isn't going to like it. Average viewers prefer popcorn fast-paced movies with lots of action and spectacle. Rather than something a little more slow.

This movie gave me everything I wanted to see, and it lived up to the hype in my opinion. But by no means is it a flawless film, it did drag a little bit. I was never bored tho. This was the first move me and my wife watched together. We couldn't get an IMAX ticket but the movie was phenomenal. My wife who did not know what Marvel or DC was a year back, saying woooohooooo and jumping out of her seat in certain moments made my experience even better. I never realised 3 hours passing and We walked out with a huge smile on our face and misty eyes. Definitely recommendable to anyone who can appreciate good film making.
This is the best thing DC has done in decades. This movie was a masterpiece start to finish. I'm so glad it's going to be a sequel and I hope it lives up to this. To me this is definitely the best live action Batman depiction we've ever seen. It's raw.
I love the fact that the movie focused more on Batman's detective skills. They choose quality over quantity for the action and it worked. Robert Pattinson is downright amazing, Paul Dano was almost as chilling as Heath Ledger's Joker, Zoe Kravitz is an absolute scene-stealer, everyone did a brilliant job. The craftsmanship is impeccable and definitely deserving of awards. I've seen some folks complaining over the runtime but honestly, it felt like a breeze. That's testament to good writing, even a 100 minute movie can feel like a drag if the writing is bad. Matt Reeves made an absolute work of art!
This is easily the best Batman movie ever made. It's dark, gritty, noir...just the total package...but you really feel vested in the Batman and feel a connection with him. Zoe Kravitz nailed it as Cat woman...she didn't overdo it and she didn't need a crazy costume to get the character into this story. WB better hand Matt Reeves a blank check and let him run wild on the sequel.

Matt Reeves is the reason I want to see this movie! I have been a fan of his creativity since Felicity. He and J J Abrams made that show, and Matt was the one who had the sign over his office that said "Make it Emotional" ~ Matt knows what he is doing! Can't wait to see it!

1. The shadows are more darker provides movie an extra edge. 2. You will be amazed by the audio. The increase in background music gradually puts every scene into a horror scene . Very little very little to very horror. 3. I have a smile on my face throughout the movie that how gradually it is moving towards horror-nes.

I just watched it tonight and it was spectacular, bone chilling, it was just too great to put into words. It takes the best parts of every Batman possible and puts it all together seamlessly. And it teases what will be a much anticipated sequel that we will be speculating about for the next 2 years until it comes out
Huge shout out to the Pattinson haters, Snyder fan boys who tried to take this movie out, the boomers that didn’t want another Batman cause he’s so “over used” (knowing he’s a top 3 character in the world), and the people who would rather a movie be fan service than an actual cinema movie lol. Anyone who watched and followed this movie closely saw the potential. The new direction, the potential in every cast member, the director who doesn’t miss, and WB not laying hands on the project and letting reeves have full control. Cant wait to see this movie this week and what the trilogy has got in store.

*Fantastic!* This is your best and most thorough review yet guys and one of the best for the movie I've seen so far, you perfectly articulated how each inspiration cited for the movie factored in as a positive or how it made you feel emotionally compared to the previous Batman films but that it didn't necessarily make you care for the protagonist's main arc but absolutely interested in it which is something I find myself struggling with with certain movies and it could lead to not feeling as impacted by a film but I really hope this movie is different. Seriously, guys this might just be your best review yet and it just reaffirmed all my hopes for the film and silenced my concerns while still giving me an in-depth analysis (without spoilers) that didn't just devolve to this worked and that didn't much for you but gave multi-faceted thoughts on each aspect, even down to the little ticks of the movie that you picked on it's all very comprehensive. Keep it up as always!!!

I just saw it tonight and was floored by how good and scary it was. There's elements of Se7en, Saw, Zodiac and Silence of the Lambs in this film. Very dark, twisted and creepy!

Many of my colleagues at work, who are also supporting artists (Extras), worked on THE BATMAN at Warner Bros Studios just outside London. They were really stoking my excitement this movie, telling me about all the cool, awesome stuff they'd seen. Ticket booked for Friday lunch time. REALLY can't wait !!!
My favorite scene was when dora the explorer showed up with shaggy and just utterly annihilated riddler and penguin all while boots was acting as Robin I'm sure this happens *
Ego, Long Halloween and Year One are the 3 stories that get talked about the most. But Earth One is BY FAR the biggest influence on this film. To the point where it‘s actually quite shocking how much stuff they take. They are lucky Earth One isn’t particularly so well known because it almost borders on ripoff at points. NOT that I’m complaining. Those parts are all things that I have been dying to see in live action.
@@jrob4795 As fucked and annoying as Geoff Johns is. He has admittedly written some pretty amazing stuff. Earth One has some very powerful ideas that this film borrows heavily from. The depiction of Bruce’s mother and Alfred being a crippled former trained government killer and head of security just to name a couple.
Much more DCs style, rather than the mixed universe which just feels like an imitation of the MCU. With these films, I can respect it as something special, and it's something that fits DC well. A stylised universe full of emotion and seriousness.

Can we get an Oscar for the Batmobile? From it being worked on in the Batcave to its glorious introduction, the sound and power of that engine! The walk up to the car fading into the title is THE best trailer scene I can remember in a long time.
So in my opinion, I dont think the batmobile looked that great. Looked like a sportscar with a booster on the back. Besides my cousin, I feel like I'm the only one that I've talked to that didnt care for the movie. I grew up watching Christian bale batman movies and compared to him, he had no gadgets at all which is something I liked with batman. I liked them showing off his detective style and the riddler carried the movie for me, but the batman character himself wasnt it for me. Idk maybe I just had huge shoes from Christian bale. I remember growing up watching batman for the first time in scooby doo movies and watched all the old batman films, i've watched the tv shows like the brave and the bold, the new show gotham, and harley quinn which is technically different, and I grew up playing all the videogames which my first was the original lego batman game and then grew into the Arkham series. Regarding comics, I've read a few but never got in deep with it. I'm sorry I just feel that this was different from what I was expecting. I grew up watching the Christian bale batman films and feel they did really good with them. He had cool gadgets, the batmobile was like a fucking tank, the villains were all amazing, and the entire cast was amazing. They had pretty good people in this movie to but liked theirs more. The dark knight movie with the joker is my all time favorite batman movie

I knew from the moment Matt Reeves was attached and spoke about his detective neo-noir vision for the movie, that this was gonna be the comicbooky, mystery-oriented Batman movie I've been waiting to be made for so long and judging by these fucking stellar reviews, he didn't dissapoint and managed to deliver yet another deliberately crafted masterpiece.
The batman was good, it didn't feel 3 hrs long I was invested it was a private eye Batman, I like it. It's not the dark knight, I'm glad it's different.
I think my favourite quality to this movie is you don’t get the billionaire tony stark style armour with the jet and tank full mega bat cave , it almost feels affordable to us all like it’s possible for us to become The caped crusader, He is just the dark caped amour and one car/bat mobile !
Just got back from the movie and it was so damn good. so much different from what we’ve seen in the past. And it took some adjusting but it was necessary.

Nolan’s whole trilogy was slower and deliberate lol, but this one is supposed to have detective elements so it’s gonna feel fresher

Seen it last night and when the movie ended it got a standing ovation. Never seen everyone stand up and applaud a movie, and that was awesome being a part of it. I love everything about this movie and hope they get to make a trilogy.

No Way Home was the same reaction with Andrew and Tobey, but at the end of the movie everyone just got up and left. After The Batman the audience was standing and applauding which caught me off guard because I have never seen that after a movie.
I was in a packed theater, and as a huge Batman fan, I was bored out of my skull. We were definitely in two different theaters as our theater remained quiet throughout the entire movie. No gasps, screams, oohs or ahh! The end of the movie, the theater emptied out quickly and quietly.
I'm glad so many people seem to be enjoying it.
The Dark Knight is my favorite movie of all time, and man this movie comes as close as possible to that. There is a mystique about Bruce Wayne that makes you feel bad for him. The cast is IMPECCABLE. Paul Dano “KILLED” it, best villain portrayal since ledger. I loved that it did not feel like a marvel movie, because it’s NOT. It’s a gritty, DARK, horror movie. I cannot say enough about this movie. The introduction to the bat mobile, HOLY CRAP. The car chase sequences are better than the recent fast and furious movies. I am in love with this film, and true Batman fans will love it too!

That statement about the opening 15 minutes of the movie is a big deal considering how awesome the beginning of The Dark Knight was.
My ears would perk up if they said it was the best climax in a Batman movie, the dark knights was insane.
These guys will retract their statement some time later, I bet! Its just hype on the eve of release like most of the superhero films. Thats why you see them saying the exact same thing in all their reviews, 'We are still processing our feelings about the movie', so that they can take 180' if the film gets bad word of mouth.

It’s a solid opening setting the tone, but these guys way overhyped the first 15 minutes.
What made The Dark Knight’s opening brilliant is the layers. The game within a game. The bank robbers doing a heist, while simultaneously betraying each other for a bigger piece of the pie. All the while building up the Joker’s reputation and establishing that they are not just robbing a bank, but from the mafia.

This. Even Arkham games were not 100% realistic, there's a lot of mysticism and mystical elements that people love about the franchise.
The director said back in 2019-20 that he has plans of Mr Freeze and Court of Owls as villians for the sequels.

Honestly critics rating it so high probably means the average viewer isn't going to like it. Average viewers prefer popcorn fast-paced movies with lots of action and spectacle. Rather than something a little more slow.

This movie gave me everything I wanted to see, and it lived up to the hype in my opinion. But by no means is it a flawless film, it did drag a little bit. I was never bored tho. It was also too dark in some scenes. And some ppl will complain that they wanted more action, however I think they gave us just enough. World’s Greatest Detective!!!! Finally! It’s the most accurate to the printed page, live action Batman has ever been. Go see it asap!

This was the first move me and my wife watched together. We couldn't get an IMAX ticket but the movie was phenomenal. My wife who did not know what Marvel or DC was a year back, saying woooohooooo and jumping out of her seat in certain moments made my experience even better. I never realised 3 hours passing and We walked out with a huge smile on our face and misty eyes. Definitely recommendable to anyone who can appreciate good film making.
This is the best thing DC has done in decades. This movie was a masterpiece start to finish. I'm so glad it's going to be a sequel and I hope it lives up to this.

I love the fact that the movie focused more on Batman's detective skills. They choose quality over quantity for the action and it worked. Robert Pattinson is downright amazing, Paul Dano was almost as chilling as Heath Ledger's Joker, Zoe Kravitz is an absolute scene-stealer, everyone did a brilliant job. The craftsmanship is impeccable and definitely deserving of awards. I've seen some folks complaining over the runtime but honestly, it felt like a breeze. That's testament to good writing, even a 100 minute movie can feel like a drag if the writing is bad. Matt Reeves made an absolute work of art!

this movie is incredible but make no mistake its not a superhero movie, at least in the sense that you have come to know in the past 15 years.
This is easily the best Batman movie ever made. It's dark, gritty, noir...just the total package...but you really feel vested in the Batman and feel a connection with him. Zoe Kravitz nailed it as Cat woman...she didn't overdo it and she didn't need a crazy costume to get the character into this story. WB better hand Matt Reeves a blank check and let him run wild on the sequel.
Please stop! It was maybe the 3rd best Bat movie. 30min to long and you can tell they way to hard to be dark and brooding. Riddler was awesome though.

The increase in background music gradually puts every scene into a horror scene . Very little very little to very horror.

I just watched it tonight and it was spectacular, bone chilling, it was just too great to put into words. It takes the best parts of every Batman possible and puts it all together seamlessly. And it teases what will be a much anticipated sequel that we will be speculating about for the next 2 years until it comes out
Huge shout out to the Pattinson haters, Snyder fan boys who tried to take this movie out, the boomers that didn’t want another Batman cause he’s so “over used” (knowing he’s a top 3 character in the world), and the people who would rather a movie be fan service than an actual cinema movie lol. Anyone who watched and followed this movie closely saw the potential. The new direction, the potential in every cast member, the director who doesn’t miss, and WB not laying hands on the project and letting reeves have full control. Cant wait to see this movie this week and what the trilogy has got in store.

*Fantastic!* This is your best and most thorough review yet guys and one of the best for the movie I've seen so far, you perfectly articulated how each inspiration cited for the movie factored in as a positive or how it made you feel emotionally compared to the previous Batman films but that it didn't necessarily make you care for the protagonist's main arc but absolutely interested in it which is something I find myself struggling with with certain movies and it could lead to not feeling as impacted by a film but I really hope this movie is different. Seriously, guys this might just be your best review yet and it just reaffirmed all my hopes for the film and silenced my concerns while still giving me an in-depth analysis (without spoilers) that didn't just devolve to this worked and that didn't much for you but gave multi-faceted thoughts on each aspect, even down to the little ticks of the movie that you picked on it's all very comprehensive. I just saw it tonight and was floored by how good and scary it was. There's elements of Se7en, Saw, Zodiac and Silence of the Lambs in this film. Very dark, twisted and creepy!

I like how Batman is more involved with society and not just hidden in the shadows. The partnership with Gordon and him is great.
Ego, Long Halloween and Year One are the 3 stories that get talked about the most. But Earth One is BY FAR the biggest influence on this film. To the point where it‘s actually quite shocking how much stuff they take. They are lucky Earth One isn’t particularly so well known because it almost borders on ripoff at points. NOT that I’m complaining. Those parts are all things that I have been dying to see in live action.
If they lift from Earth one, then I'm SO here for it!

@@jrob4795 As fucked and annoying as Geoff Johns is. He has admittedly written some pretty amazing stuff. Earth One has some very powerful ideas that this film borrows heavily from. The depiction of Bruce’s mother and Alfred being a crippled former trained government killer and head of security just to name a couple.

As a Marvel guy, I think "Joker" and "The Batman" have to be the best movies DC and WB ever made.
Much more DCs style, rather than the mixed universe which just feels like an imitation of the MCU. With these films, I can respect it as something special, and it's something that fits DC well. A stylised universe full of emotion and seriousness.

Can we get an Oscar for the Batmobile? From it being worked on in the Batcave to its glorious introduction, the sound and power of that engine! The walk up to the car fading into the title is THE best trailer scene I can remember in a long time.
So in my opinion, I dont think the batmobile looked that great. Looked like a sportscar with a booster on the back. Besides my cousin, I feel like I'm the only one that I've talked to that didnt care for the movie. I grew up watching Christian bale batman movies and compared to him, he had no gadgets at all which is something I liked with batman. I liked them showing off his detective style and the riddler carried the movie for me, but the batman character himself wasnt it for me. Idk maybe I just had huge shoes from Christian bale. I liked this batman over ben Affleck

I remember growing up watching batman for the first time in scooby doo movies and watched all the old batman films, i've watched the tv shows like the brave and the bold, the new show gotham, and harley quinn which is technically different, and I grew up playing all the videogames which my first was the original lego batman game and then grew into the Arkham series. Regarding comics, I've read a few but never got in deep with it. I'm sorry I just feel that this was different from what I was expecting. I grew up watching the Christian bale batman films and feel they did really good with them. He had cool gadgets, the batmobile was like a fucking tank, the villains were all amazing, and the entire cast was amazing. They had pretty good people in this movie to but liked theirs more. The dark knight movie with the joker is my all time favorite batman movie

I knew from the moment Matt Reeves was attached and spoke about his detective neo-noir vision for the movie, that this was gonna be the comicbooky, mystery-oriented Batman movie I've been waiting to be made for so long and judging by these fucking stellar reviews, he didn't dissapoint and managed to deliver yet another deliberately crafted masterpiece.
The batman was good, it didn't feel 3 hrs long I was invested it was a private eye Batman, I like it. It's not the dark knight, I'm glad it's different.

I think my favourite quality to this movie is you don’t get the billionaire tony stark style armour with the jet and tank full mega bat cave , it almost feels affordable to us all like it’s possible for us to become The caped crusader, He is just the dark caped amour and one car/bat mobile !
