@@escalona8764 I’m very happy for you guys , my son is 5 and got his procedure Wednesday morning, it’s Friday night right now and he’s been having fevers since yesterday. Your daughter had a fever.?
I had an adenoidectomy at about age 4 or 5, I’m 18 now. I had SEVERE chronic ear infections throughout childhood as well as strep and many other ear nose and throat problems, including not hearing well. So I had tubes in my eardrums twice- which worked, but I still needed the adenoids removed. I’m SO glad my parents decided to do that, because while I still get chronic ear infections, they aren’t nearly as often or as bad!
I love how descriptive you're! My surgery for my tonsillectomy/adnoidectomy is Thursday. Your videos have helped me so much. I'm 32 so it's definitely gonna be fun...😣
I had a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy when I was maybe 7. Not gonna lie, the tonsil part was tough and painful from what I remember. Definitely had throat pain, but I recall not having nose pain at all, so the adenoid part was easy for me…that being said, a few years later, my new pediatrician in middle school said my adenoids were big. I told her I got them out. She said “well, it looks like they grew back.” As an adult, my ENT said my adenoids are huge. So either they said they took them out originally and didn’t, or the removal doesn’t have much pain, but they can grow back. And I have read that they can grow back
Wow! My son’s doctor just offered an adenoidectomy As a solution to long time stuffy nose and breathing problems. Of course I thought of all my questions after! Thanks for the run down! Great explanation.
My six year old had one scheduled for tomorrow. Her symptoms are not that bad except for current sinus infections when she has a cold. The information you gave in this video made me retract from the surgery. It is not bad enough for surgery, and we are religious and have faith that God would help her heal on her own. Thank you so much for this video!
My grand daughter 6, has stuffy nose speech, mouth breathing, snoring and runny nose. She is getting hers removed over Christmas. She will be so much better able to breath and sleep better. You should watch the video this Dr does on adenoidectomy. Simple short operation. Much better for the child or adult to breath.
My 3 yr old son is scheduled to have his adenoids removed on 4.3.23 and have tubes put in his ears. We’ve been battling ear infections for the last YEAR!! I hope that this surgery gives him the relief he needs.
I've suffered my whole life with severe eye/ear infections and now I have seizures, sleep apnea and I'm a mouth breather. I'm super scared but hopefully this will help! My ENT told me I had a deviated septum as well. I'm hoping breathing gets better!
I just got my tonsils and adenoids taken out yesterday. It's painful specially when you need to swallow. Even drinking water hurts. Thank you for the video
@@jdcruzoit's not a lot of pain (due to the adenoids) I'm not sure about how bad a tonsillectomy would hurt but adenoidectomy doesn't make your throat hurt really bad except a few cases
I didn’t know the adenoids shriveled up at a certain age. They never took mine out with my tonsillectomy and I was wondering if I could be having trouble with my adenoids asan adult. Learn something new every day.
My ENT doc just told me I have 'some things' on my adenoids and I need an adenoidectomy. My voice is massively affected so I rarely speak. This video was helpful. I'm looking forward to my surgery now.
I have had a lifelong of sinus problems, non-stop post nasal drip, and Eustachian Tube dysfunction for the last 8 years with very little Improvement. No ENT has suggested adenoid removal for me, but all these descriptions here resonate with what I experience. I have already tried all the allergy testing, medication, had septoplasty, and Eustachian Tube Balloon dilation. I discovered what I think is a swollen adenoid this year. It slowly grew over 5 months, and popped out a sizable calcified stone a few days ago. I definitely felt a difference on that side of ear pressure before and after the stone came out. I'm thinking of demanding my adenoids get taken out as the next step. I need to try something- always have ears I can't pop and irritated throat from post nasal drip, swallowing all day long. Very distracting condition all day every day.
Thank you so much for this video. I had a tonsillectomy on the 26th of December 2018 and I over heard the nurse say to another that they took out my adenoids too. I had never heard of them before so this helped me to understand.
Yes! They did this to me too!!! I didnt know anything about it before hand and then i woke up to the worst nose bleed ever! I never get nose bleeds....make sure you know a head of time EXACTLY what they plan to do to you!!!!
@@teeniequeenie8369 I got both removed as well, back in 2002 when I was 7. The pain afterwards was the worse for the next few days. But we’re you okay though? Why’s you get a nose bleed ?
@@NahyaMukami it went very smoothly! The recovery process wasn’t bad at all. After the first day she was back to her normal cheerful self. The only real side effect I noticed was a smell that came from her breath for about a week. Other than that after the first day you couldn’t guess she had surgery. The surgery itself was very quick and had no complications. She has been ear infection free since the surgery! Good luck to your child!
*My son was diagnosed with these but i cant afford this procedure, the doctor told me it would cost me around $1750. He cant breath well he strains at night and sometimes i stay woke at night to feel his pain hoping this money will come to me some day to his rescue*
Thank you Doctor, this video has been very educational and helpful. My 5 years old son had a sleep study done in April and was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea. They recommended to remove the adenoids and tonsils. The day of the surgery we told the doctor he had improved 80% of all symptoms he had such as snoring and mouth breathing and we though that having the surgery was not needed at the time, especially for the tonsils. We cancelled the surgery and did a new sleep study. We are going to see the sleep doctor on Tuesday and see what the recommendations are this time. In our modest opinion, we believe he only needs removal of the adenoids because he wakes up two or three tImes at night due to breathing but he never had troubles with the tonsils.
It all depends on the severity of the problem, and how enlarged the tonsils and/or adenoids are. You are correct that some people only really need an adenoidectomy, but for others, adenoidectomy alone won't be enough.
I had the same exact experience with my son! Surgery was scheduled and suddenly his symptoms were like 90% gone so I canceled the surgery. 1st ENT suggested to remove the tonsils and adenoids. I didn't feel right about that because I felt it was more in his nose and he had never had problems with the tonsils. But I'm not a doctor so i sought out a second opinion with a different ENT. 2nd ENT said he did not need his tonsils out. He actually just his adenoids removed and nasal turbinate reduction. He's been sleeping so much better since day 1 after the surgery. Wish I had done it earlier. Recovery hasn't been too bad.
@@painkillerO8it's not a huge procedure I had my adenoids removed a while back (I'm 16) I had to eat only icecreams for the day but there were restrictions per say
@@Prishaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa thanks for the response. I posted 10 months ago. We went with the surgery. Pretty simple. My son didn’t feel anything during his recovery after the surgery, but I saw other kids being uncomfortable. I was not sure if they had removed adenoids only or both adenoids and tonsils. If all others options failed, I definitely recommend the surgery.
Our 3 year old is 5 days post op from her adenoidectomy. Her sleep has drastically improved. They were much larger than the doctor thought. She has a severe speech delay. I’m praying that this will help improve her speech. I’m not sure if this was causing hearing problems but now I want to ask the doctor if there’s a possibility with the size being so large
Hi, can you tell me if removing the adenoids affected her speech or made it better. The way I read your comment was that her speech worsened. Can you please advise before I take my daughter in
Hey, please let me know if your daughter’s speech improved after the procedure. I also have speech issues as well and was wondering if this could help me.
I love watching things that I have personally experienced done from a doctors pov. MOST of these facts are correct there is just one that I will have to kind of rephrase to make it more right. Not EVERYONE'S tubes will gradually push out and have the hole close all by itself. Most might but for some( like myself)will have to be removed via surgery. I had to have a 2nd surgery to have them be removed and patched over because when I was 5 years old I got them put in because I was hard of hearing. Then once I was in the 4th grade(10 years old) I had finally gotten them take out via surgery, and to this day I still have patch on my ear drum. No hate to this guy but I do want people to know just in case it happens to a child that you know. LOVE THIS GUYS VIDEOS SO MUCH!!!
My parents were not much for surgeries; thus, I suffered w/ adenoids, mouth breathing, earaches, hyperactivity, & yes, bedwetting. It was horrible & embarrassing to me. That was back in the '50s. If your kid needs an adenoidectomy, do it. There should be local clinics to help defray the costs dramatically if you can't afford it. Your kid really can't afford it. Please, take my word for it.
I think this why I keep getting shook out of sleep. Either because I can't breathe or extreme irritation in my ear. This might be a eureka moment in my life.
I was worring what would happen in the surgery seen though mine is tommorow. Thank you for all the information, now I have a greater understanding of what will be happening and what they are. Thanks!
This is so crazy.. I have had this weird fullness, ringing and recurrent ear infections in both ears for over 6 months now. Originally in January when symptoms 1st started I had an MRI of the head without contrast and a CT Scan of head again no contrast. Nothing showed and I was given nasal steroids which did not do anything for the symptoms. Fast forward to July and 3 bouts of ear infections later as well as continued fullness and ringing but add a new symptom of sinus pain and pressure in forehead and nose, bridge of nose and cheeks but without mucus or congestion. Most pain and pressure in forehead and one eye. Get another CT scan of head without contrast and sinuses showed inflammation. Was prescribed prednisole pack which helped a little but only at first, quickly had a rebound of symptoms that Prednisone no longer does anything for the sinus and facial pain or the eye pressure. Do you think it could be adenoids? I am 41 so certainly not an age that would be common but it's been 7 months and still no answers. Could the CT scan have missed something? Any advice or explanation would be super helpful and appreciated. If not adenoids than what could it possibly be?? Amazing and informative video by the way. Edit: Also I was recently approved for placement of ear tubes in both ears and that is scheduled for next week. I was excited but now that I have the sinus pain and inflammation for weeks now that is not going away or responding to treatment I wonder if ear tubes would even be beneficial. Again any advice or information that may help would be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU!!
I had a similar problem in 2009 recurring sore throat followed by an ear infection...I ended up with ear fullness, deafness in the affected ear, and tinnitus..I still have the ear ringing ( tinnitus) it's been 10 years..in 2016 I had the same throat problems and ended up with a ear infection on my other ear and now I have permanent tinnitus on both ears...it truly sucks..I know exactly how you feel..hope yours goes away...
@@80sfreak42 Damn, I am sorry to hear that. Yeah mine never went away or hasn't so far. The tubes they put in helped with the recurring ear infections but made the ringing so much worse. It's like constantly hearing crickets at dusk but there aren't any. The quieter a place I am in the more noticeable it is so I guess that it is permanent. Yeah it's crazy because you just assume that it will go away but then it just never does. I hope I can eventually get used to it maybe?
@@divinelove1273 they never found an actual "problem" or specifically whatever primary issue that had caused the ears to start acting this way. They did a full head and brain M.R.I.with contrast and the oy this gvtgat showed was a deviated septum and fluid in both ears. They did put in tympanic ear tubes in both ears to regulate pressure and drain any fluid and that did help a lot. I no longer get ear infections, muffled hearing or ringing. I occasionally have the whooshing sounds as before but not nearly as bad or as often because that was actulthe absolute worse. It is now 95% better and only happens occasionally and not as intensely as before. No more infections either. It's been about 4 years and things are better. The first 2 years were about 65% better and now they are about 85 to 95% better. Sometimes I don't even notice.
@@painkillerO8 Not too bad. I was mentally prepared for the worst. The first 2 days were not bad. He complained of a sore throat the first day and also threw up once. I think he was nauseous from the anesthesia. He was able to eat normally. Then day 3-5 he actually had a low grade fever and was not feeling good. I also noticed a change in his voice. It was really high pitched and sounded like he was pinching his nose closed. His breath began to smell really bad from the open wounds I guess. Thats starting to go away today. And also his voice seems back to normal. Its day 6 and hes feeling almost back to normal. He also had to have nasal turbinate reduction so his nose would bleed occasionally. But since day 1 his sleeping has drastically changed. He can breath so much better! Still has his mouth when he sleeps but he's so quiet now! He's still healing so I can't wait to see how much more he improves. He was so loud and snored like a grown man. Tossed and turned all night. Woke up sometimes 5 times a night. Doctor says his adenoids were some of the biggest he'd ever seen. I wish I had done the surgery sooner. I wish you and your kiddo the best!! Let me know if you have any other questions!
I think when they have to have the tonsils also removed is when its more painful. If its just adenoids, from our experience it wasn't bad. I say go for it. If you do, let me know how it goes!
@@wildflower7321 Thank you for the detailed information. Doing all the research online, we see comments like to exhaust all the other options first. Our ENT said antibiotic or nozzle spray won’t be effective. He said the size is grade 3. Over 70% blockage. Should we seek second opinion? I am just terrified.
@@painkillerO8 your welcome. We tried a steroid and a nasal spray before doing the surgery and it did absolutely nothing. I understand. It is scary. Definitely get a second opinion if you are not sure. I did. 1st ENT wanted tonsils and adenoids out. He'd never had problems with his tonsils so I didn't want to remove those. I saw the 2nd ENT and he said the tonsils did not need to be removed. But he did have to have his nasal turbinates reduced. That made me feel better. So he had those two things done and it really wasn't too bad. He's had colds that were worse than this recovery. I say do it. Your child will feel SO much better after. Sounds like his adenoids are pretty big like my son's. Just a few days of discomfort and then a lifetime of feeling better.
My daughter had her adenoids removed when she was 2 1/2. It helped her with sleeping through the night and not having as many stuffy noses. She had them removed and her sinuses washed because she had a sinus infection that wouldn’t clear up. That’s how I knew something was wrong (it smelled like something died). I feel bad for not catching it earlier.
hi, I think your presentation is very helpful to understand the risk of adenoiditis. My question is why not try to improve the immune system and reduce the inflammation instead of taking out something that protects our bodies from infection. Why not try first a treatment with iodine, magnesium and something else. Like the one my son had when he was little. 20 years ago a doctor prescribed a compound like this. And after a month or two my son stopped having problems with his tonsils and he finally did not need surgery.
There are times where absolutely a trigger can be identified and avoided. Or an immune issue addressed. And there are times where those evaluations and interventions don't result in improvement and removal becomes a reasonable option. I'm certainly not advocating surgery as the primary, or only option.
I have doubt that After adenoid surgery they will grow again my kid is suffering with adenoids doctor suggest for surgery this video is very helpfull to me

My son is 8 and just had his very large adenoids removed today. He's been a mouth breather for about 2 years and i just learned at the dentist that he will need to go to the dentist to have an expansion done? Bc his adult teeth don't have the space to come in and are just coming in wherever 😳. Very interesting how these two things work together. I would have got the adenoids addressed much sooner had I known it was affecting the shape of his mouth.
Hello, Dr Li I live in Kansas City Kansas and I believe my son has this issue but I have been scared to put him through this surgery... I can come to California so you can perform this surgery. Your explanation to detail is spot on.
Thanks for sharing a footage of adennoidscopy. What percentage would you say those adenoids were blocking the nasal cavity? I have 6 yr old son for whom I saw a similar adenoids issue and was curious on this
Thanks for the great information. My daughter (6.5 yrs) is suffering from sleep apnea due to enlarged adenoids. Also she has very enlarged tonsils but she never complained about pain in throat and any problems related to tonsils. Doctors are suggesting to remove both adenoids and tonsils. Please suggest ,should we go for both adenoidectomy and tonsillectomy.
I can't provide specific medical advice over the comments section of the forum. Sleep Apnea occurs because the upper airway (from the tip of the nose to the voice box) is narrowed or obstructed. Anything in the upper airway contributes. For some people, it is mostly from one cause (tonsils or adenoids or septum, etc...). But it is always due to a combination of everything. So if the tonsils and adenoids are both large, they are likely both contributing. Removing either one will help. Removing both will clear even more room. The question that I cannot answer is whether or not you need both removed or not. Only someone that has actually evaluated your child can give a specific answer for your case.
How will the doctors diagnose me? Do they send me to take an endoscopy, or simply by checking my throat? I’ve been trying to get the surgery but the doctor don’t recommend it because tonsils helps me fight bacteria. One doctor saw my throat and that was her recommendation
I believe this is what my 4 year old is suffering from. She cannot breathe through her nose at ALL. We co-sleep and she's a noisy sleeper and sometimes she stops breathing for a few seconds and chokes during her sleep. She wakes up with her mouth dry and frothy. She is also hyper-active and will stay up all night. Her last doctor's visit (in OK) she was sick with the cold & diagnosed with an ear infection I had no clue she had and they checked her breathing which they "didnt like" yet only gave her antibiotics for her ear. But since I googled her breathing problems she had all the symptoms of inflamed adenoids. I was looking at home remedies and ran into your vid which im thankful for,so maybe she needs surgery. Is there any pediatricians/docs you can recommend in MD?
Sorry, I can't make any recommendations for MD. I wish I knew someone well enough out there to guide you. Best of luck, I hope you find someone great to help you.
What happened? Did you go thru surgery and did the symptoms improve? This is word for word the same issue with my 3 year old. He snores like a bear pauses breathing in sleep and he wakes up with white foam around his mouth and he is a mouth breather. I hope your daughter is doing better tho

I have really bad allergies that dont fully respond to allergy tablets/singulair and nasal steroids. Is there any way to tell if adenoid and tonsil removal would be more helpful than allergy desensitization injections? recently I have started snoring also.
The ear can be clogged from adenoids, allergies, colds, sinus issues, muscle tension, TMJ, etc. The term "eustachian tube dysfunction" is a little bit like using the word "headache". Doesn't tell you want is causing it. The reality for your situation is that it is from a combination of issues. The only way to have an idea about how much each component contributes is the "art" of medicine. The ENT should have some idea which factor is a bigger deal.

Thank you for your explaination. This was very well put. My 3.5 yr old is getting evaluated for ear tubes and they suggested removal of adenoids as well. They stated its better to get it all done in one shot. I know he needs the ear tubes, but whats the harm if you do one now and another later on? My thought process is almost a wait and see approach vs just jumping in and doing it based on a suggestion vs a true evaluation.
We are at the same situation right now. 5 year old has had recurring ear infections since she was two, we were able to hold it off so far. We were ready for ear tubes, but then doc suggested removal of adenoids. We are on the fence two, so was wondering what decision you guys made. How was the surgery? Hope your little one is feeling better. Thanks!
@@sometimesitjustclick Idk how far you want to get into it. We got 2 evaluations for doctors, they both said remove adenoids and put in tubes. One also said tonsoils, which we didnt do. As this was 8 months ago now, we went with the surgery to add tubes and remove adenoids. 1. They dont prep you for how your child will be coming out of surgery, its awful when they come from anesthesia. 2. Recovery was simple and he was back to normal in 36-48hours. Surgery was like 15 mins and we prepped alot before hand. 3. He hasnt had an ear infection since, but is still sensitive to loud noises even today. Now would I recommend it afterwards? It depends. Personally, If it was today and what I have learned since, I wouldnt. Learning about inflammation and how it affects his body and his diet is a major factor. However, it did resolve the short term problem. So I guess Ill say do what you feel is best based on the knowledge you have at the time. If you want to dig deeper and are prepared to go down rabit holes for alternative solutions, then im all for that as well. Its your decision to decide for them. Learning that my wife had all that done as a kid in the 90s, and is always sick every month, Connecting those dots I wouldnt have done it. Best of luck to you.
His recovery may take a little longer and he may need to stay in the hospital the day of surgery so that they can monitor his vitals and to prevent infection. But I suggest that you confirm it with his doctor that the procedure is in fact safe for him, a CBC test can also be helpful to see if his immune cell count is normal to prevent infections post-op. Other than that there shouldn't be a problem, wish him the best!

Because she looks like she has stuffy nose all the time.😣 She suffer bullying in school because she makes noises all the time trying to breath 😣
If the sleep study showed apnea, most would strongly advocate for removal. Just because there isn't apnea and sleep issues, does not mean that nothing should be done for congestion from a quality of life standpoint. Recurrent infection is also an indication. I would consider another opinion. Depending on the degree of congestion, and the severity/frequency/duration of the infections, it may make sense to still do something.

Thank you so much Dr. Liu, for your helpful video , there was a time hen I thought it was either that my throat bell had gotten too large or my tongue rolled back when ever I was laying down and cause me to gasp for air. Again, thank you Dr.
Thanks for this very detailed video. My ENT has recommend adenoidectomy for my 8 year old daughter but I need a second option. Can I send her xray results to you?
Yes I do have Questions, I always have severe sinus issues and it’s been going on for a few years now ! I have a regular ENT but they always say it’s nothing but a common cold ! I have had my Tonsils removed in my 30s and in my mid-30s my uvula removed. But yeah at least once a month or more I constantly get ear infections and strep throat I need help what could this be because I do still have my adenoids?
Thanks for your video doctor. You explained it so well and I can't believe I almost can fully understand it in English! Also I have questions, here in China, there are many parents they didn't let their kids do the surgery, however, they tried many other traditional ways instead, like Chinese Medicine, Massages, food diet adjustment to improve the spleen and stomach function, and more exercises to improve immune system, etc, it seems there are a big number of them have succeeded and the size of the adenoid is getting smaller. I was wondering do doctors in America would ever let the patients try those methods as well and would you believe they could be effective?
Thank you so much for the video, my 2.9 year old had X-ray and her adenoids are so large that there is no black air on X-ray from nose to throat at all. Doctors suggest to take out tonsils as well, should I do it or not considering that she is so little? Thanks again!
It really depends on what the symptoms are and what issues she is having. Sometimes it makes sense to take out the tonsils along with the adenoids. Other times, it makes sense just to take out the adenoids. From the x ray findings, it certainly sounds like there may be good reason to strongly consider at least the adenoidectomy.
I had tonsils and adenoids surgery and they keep get infected over and over again for months, I went to the hospital and got removal surgery at 5 years old. I know this is an older video but I’m hoping you’ll still be able to respond. My girlfriend (35) has adenoids that we believe cause a lot of problems. I believe it also blocks her eustachian tubes (they aren’t functioning... her ear drum just ruptured again this weekend from pressure buildup). I’m wondering if during an adenoidectomy if a Eustachian tube balloon treatment could be done at the same time.
Towards the end of your video, you mention that they frequently will remove adenoids when they’re already removing tonsils but not necessary the other way around, may I ask why is that? I had a second doctors opinion, first one suggested just a tonsillectomy but this second one suggested a tonsiladenoidectomy and I’m concerned removing my adenoids in unnecessary. Thanks in advance!
adenoids are an immune tissue for the whole body, tonsils have a localised effect, so theoretically less impact on the immune system with tonsillectomy alone
I was suffering a lot but now after the surgery my life changed I’m very comfortable 👍🏼

And I have read that they can grow back
Im 31. I need one too
Did you ever resolve the problem? If soo how did it turn out?

Any alternative way for adenodis treatment with out having surgery. My son 8 years old
I had the same exact experience with my son!

@@painkillerO8 your welcome. We tried a steroid and a nasal spray before doing the surgery and it did absolutely nothing. I understand. It is scary. Very informative video. Thanks for also making it interesting 😊❤️
hi, I think your presentation is very helpful to understand the risk of adenoiditis.

Do it!!!
How will the doctors diagnose me? Do they send me to take an endoscopy, or simply by checking my throat? I’ve been trying to get the surgery but the doctor don’t recommend it because tonsils helps me fight bacteria. One doctor saw my throat and that was her recommendation

@@milwaukeesav6699 she had her adenoids and tonsils removed. About 3 weeks post surgery she started gaining weight, she has never had an ear infection since, she has a very healthy appetite , no longer a noisy sleeper, nor a mouth breather and she rarely gets the cold but even if she does its never that bad. Her hair even flourished. I must say coming out of surgery she was a mess and her breath was funky for a couple days but she’s all good now! Thank you, I hope your LO gets taken care of quickly. Its such a pain to see them uncomfortable at such a young age.
@@SmoodDarkie22 had my son adenoids and tonsils removed on the 16th I was scared to go cuz I didn’t think it would be necessary so far 1 week post surgery he’s still a mouth breather his breath is still funky lol and he’s still a picky eater but most importantly the grown man snoring has stopped. it’s as if my son is so used to breathing out his mouth that’s all he knows .I’m going to wait til he fully heals to see if the mouth breathing stops if not I’m going to see a speech therapist because he doesn’t talk much but he understands and listens very well..I’m glad your daughter is doing better I can only hope the same goes for my son patience and faith is the only option I have at the moment. Thanks for responding for the update I really preciate that
@@milwaukeesav6699 Great! Ik it was scary and sucks but I’m glad he got it done! Yes they get so used to breathing through their mouth, it took my daughter a couple weeks and I always had to remind her to close her mouth and breathe and eventually her body went “oh yeah I remember how to do this”. I have faith that he is gonna be a-okay. I pray that all stays well with him from here on out! And happy to help!
Thanks so much I really need that info. ❤️
thank u for sharing super helpful videos
This is helpful. Thanks doc
I was diagnosed with adenoiditis by my ENT doctor when I was 24
What is that you did I am the same age
Hi I’d love a response. I am going for my adenoid surgery Monday morning, I’m 17 years old and I’ve been having blocked nose and trouble sleeping , and breathing through my mouth for 3-4 yeArs now and I’ve been fighting through misery during the time. I soon evaluated it and was told that it is enlarged and getting bigger. But the thing I was told by my doctor was that it is not “guaranteed” it’ll have better outcomes. Howcome? Also, I’ll be honest, I sleep in a basement area where it is alittle dusty, could this be why I’ve been blocked for years ?
I am alot older than 20 and unfortunately still have my tonsils. Everything you just said sound exactly like the problem I have been suffering from, my entire life. Stuffy nose, post nasal drip, permanent ear ache, sleep problems etc. Could this be my problem?
I’m having all the same issues I’m 19 , did you get to the bottom of this ? How did it go… I’m very intrigued…
Can you determine a surgery is needed just by asking questions and not using any medical equipment or X rays?
Thank u so much ,, my son is also suffering same ,,but im scared of surgery,
Thank you for the clarification. My son is getting tubes for the second time tomorrow and they talked about removing his adenoids also while they were there. This explanation has eased my mind on it. Thank you!
How is your son doing? My son ENT dr recommended to remove Adenoids. He said it shows 90% blockage.
@@painkillerO8 he is doing great now!! They did end up taking his adenoids. My daughter also got tubes, adenoids and tonsils removed. They are both very very healthy now! And the process was very easy. My daughter took about a week to heal from the tonsils. But my son was active right away after just adenoids. You got this! Good luck!
@@mysteeda2010 I am glad both your kids are doing good. I am just terrified seeing kids going through surgery.
@@painkillerO8 I had to have my wife take both the kids. I can’t do it! Made me cry just seeing the photos.
But stay strong!! It goes super super quick!!
@@mysteeda2010 Thank you! Definitely my wife needs to lead this. I am just too weak when it comes to kids.
1:30 am and I'm still awake, just checking my son, making sure he's breathing, I think he has the adenoids little bigger, cold weather gets me scared, my son gets ear and throat infection so easily and makes it worse, I'm using a piece mouth on him but sometimes doesn't work because he pulls back his tongue and can't breathe by his nose or mouth. We can't sleep 🥴😞🥱
If he can't "breathe" take him to emergency its probably his adenoids
@@CT-cb3kb thanks, he got surgery already, he got his tonsils and adenoids removed, now we can sleep 💤 and I stop giving him medication that he never need it ( allergies medication, inheiler, nebulizer, nose drops, rubs, and all the house remedies, ) all is gone.
All of my sleuthing lead me to thinking it might be adenoid hypertrophy causing my 'glue ear' symptoms, but this video is very informative.
Have some tonsil issues and when I clean them (waterpik) I seem to have glue ear. So maybe the tonsil issues create an ETD?
Either way, I can't go to any doctor or specialist. Is there any effective remedies, or maybe something to aid my tonsils?
very helpful thank you doctor for this amazing information!
You have saved my life 🎉
My daughter went through exactly what you explained.
absolutely love your videos. they are so helpful and full of great information. I do have a few questions. I do have gigantic adenoids and tonsils. After a cold or even after my ENT doctor scoped my nose I have difficulty hearing from my right ear, I think I have eustachian tube dysfunction?
I have a problem i got my tonsils removed And they where really swollen and filled with puss and had tonsil stones and normally with a tonsillectomy’s they take your adenoids out , but they didn’t with mine and they didn’t check too see if they where infected too.. , a year later and im having a Problem i think with my adenoids, lately over the past 6 months iv been having problems swollowing and feeling like there is a air pocket in my throat and whenever i swallow my ears pop everytime , and i can make them pop anytime i want too and , but sometimes when they pop somthing in my throat feels like there is like air in it or a pocket of air and they feel like there clogged.., could this be my eustachian tubes not getting the proper air flow or air getting stuck in it , because of my adenoids being to enlarged ? Pleases help i need answers and im desperate iv been experience this for months now almost a year , and doctors cant find out what it is either , please feel free to give some advice
(p.s) My nose gets stuffy too all the time and its always clogged and it feels like i have so much pressure in my nose and i cant breath out it for the life of me
I'm curious ... for an adult that is getting surgery for sleep apnea ... one doc suggest the full UPPP removing both tonsils and adenoids, whereas the the second said that I don't need my adenoids done.
Dr. Liu, how is this decision made. The second doc did do a DISE.
I'm also considered a good client for Inspire ... but I have blockage in two places.
What about adults with adenoiditis? I'm a 30 year old woman. I recently found out I have it and it is causing me to have reoccurring sinusitis as well. I've had to go to the E.R twice because of it. I would like to find a way to avoid surgery and to hopefully get rid of it with natural remedies if possible. It's difficult for me to find information about it for adults. I'm a single mom to a toddler and it's seriously affecting my daily life.
Thank you that was very informative!
I had partial tonsillectomy and septoplasty a couple years ago. My bad breath, post nasal drip, stuffy nose, constant sensation of something stuck in my throat, foul taste in my mouth went away after two surgeries. Now the foul taste, post nasal drip, the sensation of something in my throat are coming back. Im worried. Could it be adenoid? Lately i have been very congested and i have been using Flonase. The sensation in my throat is driving me crazy. Any advice is appreciated.
My son with down syndrome may need this surgery how will recovery for him differ to a typical child?
His recovery may take a little longer and he may need to stay in the hospital the day of surgery so that they can monitor his vitals and to prevent infection. But I suggest that you confirm it with his doctor that the procedure is in fact safe for him, a CBC test can also be helpful to see if his immune cell count is normal to prevent infections post-op. Other than that there shouldn't be a problem, wish him the best!

Thank you for the info 🙏🏽but i have questions please if you can help me and give me some advise i have two years daughter she have also adenoids the doctor gave her appointment for surgery 27 may and the doctor gave her a nose spray nasonex to use for two weeks but we already use since two days but my daughter she is not calm in the night her nose close and she don’t breathe with her mouth but she is breathing with her nose and it’s close and all the night im awake with her so maybe you can give me some advise what should i do I’m in really difficulties?sorry for my English
What are the long term side effects after removing adenoids?? Why body even created this adenoid muscle in the first place there should be some purpose to it right? If we remove something which is created by body naturally.. will it cause a problem?
My 5 years old daughter have been dealing with this since she was 2 😭 She can't breath thru her nose. Winter months are the worst 😭 she gets sick lots of time... and she wakes up gasping for air at night 😭 it's so hard to see her trying to sleep 😭 She never sleep quietly 😥 In a few exame results came with enlarged adenoid. The pediatrician sent her to the ENT. And he said he won't send her to surgery, because her sleep study came out fine... 😣 Well I feel frustrated to see my girl like that 😣
Everyone thinks she has Cold. Because she looks like she has stuffy nose all the time.😣
She suffer bullying in school because she makes noises all the time trying to breath 😣
Isa Dias my gosh you sound like my daughter in every thing you just wrote pray for my daughter surgery next Tuesday 🙏🏼 my fault I wait too long for her I should get it done for her when she was five now she’s ten 😔😔😔
hi doctor. we finally had the appointment with the ENT. he said she has stage 4 adenoids. is all blocked. he could see without the camera. but i asked him if he could put the camera just for peace in mind. and he put the camera inside her nose. and yes... was jist blocked.
he said she need surgery. bit he cant do it cause she need an pediatric doctor fromthe hospital. unfortunately wr have to wait until september 2019 ( 8 more month).
i am very scared of surgery. i really dont know if the adnoid that big will srink soon. or the surgery is the only option.
she still using avamys and she is kn the second box of montelukast
hi there... your daughter had the surgery? how was it?
i am so scared of surgeries. my daughter has a long wait still for surgery. 1 year waiting at least. 😣
@@isasanchez318 It seems that you are on the right track...and without any details other than what you describe, September seems like a really long ways off. I don't know where you live, but sounds like it might be a good idea to do what you can to move that timeframe up earlier.
Can I send her xray results to you?
can it cause a foul smell coming from the nose?
This is a great help!
I need this help where can I get doctor please tell me I've been struggling with this problem for a long long time ?
can you explain preauricular pit sinus. My 15 month has it and doctors are thinking surgery
Dr I a havig pain back in my sinus and adenoids. what can I take until I see a ENT?
I had tonsils and adenoids surgery and they keep get infected over and over again for months, I went to the hospital and got removal surgery at 5 years old. Now at 13 years I came back and I feel like its growing back, I have a strep throat right now, I can barely talk, but i don't have stuffy nose, I can't sleep. I had them the removal surgery already. What is going on??? I can't eat bcuz of strep throat, I can't swallow, I can't sleep, I can't talk, I can't eat. WHAT ELSE WILL BE TAKEN FROM ME. IM SCARED TO GO TO THE DOCTOR BCUZ OF CORONA VIRUS PATIENTS AND ITS A BIG RISK RIGHT NOW. *I LITERALLY GOT THE SURGERY AND NOW I HAVE ADENOIDS ISSUES AND I SOUND DRUNK WHEN I TALK BCUZ OF THAT* WHAT SHOULD I DO?!😢😭
The constant Bilateral ear pressure, bad breath, and this feeling of something stuck in back of throat is/are very annoying
Very helpful! Thanks.
Hi did she ever resolve the problem? This is all quite new and interesting to me .
I know this is an old comment and hopefully she found relief. I am having an Adenoidectomy and Eustachian Tube dilation at the same time in 2 months.
@@jacobwaller92Hi what is your age when you had surgery
Towards the end of your video, you mention that they frequently will remove adenoids when they’re already removing tonsils but not necessary the other way around, may I ask why is that? I had a second doctors opinion, first one suggested just a tonsillectomy but this second one suggested a tonsiladenoidectomy and I’m concerned removing my adenoids in unnecessary. Thanks in advance!
adenoids are an immune tissue for the whole body, tonsils have a localised effect, so theoretically less impact on the immune system with tonsillectomy alone
Dr do you recommend an adenoidectomy for a 3 yr old who has symptoms? Will it clear by itself when the child grows up and nothing is done?
