I had turbinectomy, septoplasty and sinus surgery 3 weeks ago. First 2 days are rough, nose is very swollen and blood keeps coming out of it. In 1 week, there's no more blood dripping, but it forms these thick clots together with mucus that get expelled when you wash your nose with saline water. At 3 weeks now, still has some bloody mucus but at a much lower scale. The breathing is incredible. I didn't think this was possible tbh, there's no more air blockage whatsoever. Wife said she hasn't heard me snoring anymore. I encourage anyone that has breathing problems to strongly consider doing this surgery.
i had my septoplasty with fess with b/l partial inferior turbinectomy surgery but even after 2 weeks of surgery i am unable to breathe properly in one of my nostrils can you tell how long does it takes to breathe properly
Those of us who are suffering from.Chronic Sinusitis with Nasal polyps know very well.the value of being able to breathe freely without any obstruction.
Lovely Video! Sorry for the intrusion, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you thought about - Yenamilla Sniffing Reformed (Sure I saw it on Google)? Kudos for the video content! Forgive me for butting in, I am interested in your initial thoughts. Have you researched - Peyackenzor Phenomenal Predominance (Have a quick look on google can't remember the place now)? It is a smashing exclusive product for stamping out your nasal polyps issues minus the normal expense. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my mate after many years got cool results with it.
Real talk here from new Zealand haven't been able to breath properly over the last 7 years I'm 25 now went to get a surgery test and they couldn't find a deviated septum but now I'm go let them know about enlarged turbantes. I figured this out my self but putting my fingers up my nose and realized it's not a hole all my life thought there was a big whole in my nose. I was wrong it's like a thin gap and when I open it a bit I could breath untill it closed again. I will be going to get something done with my enlarged turbante. I am so greatful this Is gonna bring me back up with everything, confident, singing, talking most things I put my self down because I knew I was good at it but then I noticed something was up and I couldn't figure it out. I only figured my nose was blocked on one side like 7months ago. And then I look back at my worse moments and realize why. Thank you God and this UA-cam guy for explaing. My life's only gonna get better and climb higher from now on
I feel abandoned, I've suffered with this my whole life only to find out now at 40 that it can be easily corrected. Jesus. Great information, thanks very much doc
I am 40 and just had it done. It just makes it that much sweeter to breathe after knowing for so long what it is to not be able to. ENS sounds scary and is a definitely a valid reason for concern, but I didn't get it.
It is really great to see a good doctor takes his time to explain these critical stuff. Benefits of internet. Subbed and cheers from Turkey! Keep up the good work Dr!
@@flibgonrtsheglis242 I'll add it to the list. I'm trying to be more timely in getting these out, but they all take time and none of them "bring in the bucks". Partly also depends on when I get a good video of someone's nose with ENS. Much more insightful with visual aids.
@@ant-ep1sq We don't worry about swollen turbinates if there are no symptoms. In very rare cases, there can be growths, masses in the nose that look like turbinates though.

Outstanding over view of a congestion problem I struggle with. Thank you for making this video and educating those of us that struggle with nasal congestion and breathing.
Dr so glad I stumbled onto your video!!! I have allergies and a deviated septum so I’m constantly congested and can’t sleep. Your explanation is by far the best I have had...have been to several ENT’s & Allergist and never got this much info.
This method reduced my turbinate ua-cam.com/video/dbKfZ2B2zYI/v-deo.htmlsi=6kwmtey9x0dO5BVu My turbinate was almost poking out of my nose. I felt no relief in 4 weeks, but I just did what the guy said to do in the video and I CAN SEE STRAIGHT UP MY NOSE now. I only did this 10 minutes ago!!!!!!! Not an ad but I just want to help somebody who is suffering like me. Watch the video and try it! It will help you!!!!! I don’t know what the cause of my turbinate is exactly, but I will keep looking. I’m so glad I know how to make it go away though. I’m SO RELIEVED!
if you guys have chronic allergies, i would suggest allergy shots. i used to have such bad allergies in the spring that i couldnt eat most fruits with pollen in them. ive been getting allergy shots for about a year or two and havent gotten any allergies since. i 100% recommend!
Allergy shots (immunotherapy) can absolutely make a huge difference for a lot of people. Any procedure on the turbinates (or any sinus, septum, or nose surgery) do not change how severe someone's allergies are.
I love your videos. They are concise comprehensive. Thank you for sharing your knowledge Dr Liu. I had septoplasty and turbinate outfracture surgery today, and am breathing much better already.
This could cause an extremely serious condition called ENS. Please look it up online. An ENT destroyed my health and my life by cauterizing my turbinates.
Omg... I just noticed these in my right nostril and I immediately panicked! Had no idea what it was, never noticed them before... Omg, I'm so relieved it's a normal thing... 😩
I have this, I don't remember the last time I've been able through both nostrils at the same time. It's odd because it literally changes sides, but I have one blocked 24/7.
This was really informative! My turbinates are blocking my nose almost completely because of an allergic reaction I had some months ago. A doctor I visited said that I needed to get surgery done, but since I wanted another opinion, I scheduled the surgery and saw another doctor. He said that I might be able to make they shrink naturally with medical treatment and a vacine. The thing is, the first doctor had given me the same medical treatment. I tried it but it wasn't very effective, and I end up never managing to stick with it for long. There's a nasal spray that helps me, but the use is not recommended and I also don't want to use it, but it's the only thing that helps rn. I can handle it during the day, but at night it's terrible, I can't breathe at all, nor can I sleep. The worse part is that the waiting times are horrible. It's been 3 months already, and now I have to wait 3 more if I want to try to do everything naturally, but the medicine is not really helping.. even if I want to get the surgery done (I was previously going to it), the only day available is in the middle of January. I've been wanting since October so..
@@RajaKhan-zf8hh That comment was a year ago, nowadays it's still a little annoying at times but I did the medical treatment and once I actually followed it 3 days later it was much better..
@@RajaKhan-zf8hh Yep, or I couldn't sleep at all, took me three days of nasal spray to get better, at first I couldn't breathe at all, and by the third day I could breath a little...progress was slow but it worked in the end. You need to be patient if you're doing a treatment 🥹
This video helped a lot. I’m having trouble breathing out the right side of my nose. It mostly happens when i’m lying down flat on my back, and i can feel scarring in the right nostril.

thank you for taking the time to speak about this... I have just started developing allergies but my doctor wont send me for test, he says it will just show that I have allergies to about everything. Anyway he is finally sending me to see a specialist as I have been suffering with this stuff nose for almost 8 months and nothing seems to relieve it. From seeing this I think my turbinate's are enlarge and have been enlarge since I was born. I have always sounds like I speak from my nose. Again thank you for the explanation.. Ottawa Canada.
Hi. Just want to say I experienced this for 4 days, and I couldn’t breath with my nose the whole time. Turns out I have Covid-19 and this was how my body was reacting to the virus. The ENT specialist prescribed medication including a nasal spray and drops and it instantly reduced the swelling and I started breathing again. Keep safe out there guys
@Gab F The Covid-19 prescription I was given: Tab Ivermectin 12mg start then 6mg daily X 4 days Cap Azithromycin 500mg daily X 5 days Tab Vitamin C 1000mg daily X 14 days Tab Vitamin D3 1000iu daily X 14 days. Tab Zink sulphate 40mg daily X 14 days. Tab dexamethasone 4mg BD X 5 days Tab Aspirin 300mg BD X 5 days.
The nasal meds the ENT prescribed: Admichin 500mg Nasal drops & sprays: Otrivin & Avamys Will search for my prescription to know if there was something more from the ENT. Please let me know if you have any concerns I can answer
Please note that the Covid prescription & medicines came only after my Covid test result returned positive, which was days after I had seen the ENT - Ear Nose and Throat doctor, was already on the respiratory medications and had experienced relief from the nostril swelling... I don’t believe these medicines I was prescribed for Covid have anything to do with the relief I felt from breathing difficulties. Rather it’s the medicines from the ENT that gave me immediate relief. The swelling reduced dramatically and I started breathing okay after a few hours
@Gab F hi gab. i didn't epirience covid but i expirience the dry nose, not much mucus but i still expirienced like cloged nose. i can breath near normal but still it affects me. i expirienced it specialy when the weather is humid.
I went to the doctor about 3 weeks ago and she said my right side of my nose was swollen and now I know what she meant and I didn’t think it would get worse but I mean hopefully it goes away
hope you get that problem fixed soon I apparently have a URI and it sucks camel single berries. If you have any suggestions on how you go about your day. LET ME KNOW!
@Gab F it wasnt a swelling that I felt but it did get better. Sadly it's not fixed 6 months later. I still feel short breathed some nights. The best method I found to ease that weird feeling is applying small amount of vics vapor rub on my chest and just above my lip. I'm still not conviced it was a uri
@Gab F dam, hope you feel better. Tbh after a few weeks it felt more of a mental battle. You have to force yourself to feel better. Go out for walks force your airways open. And keep a positive attitude as corny as it sounds. Its up to you to fix the rest. Or just melt with the depression. Stay strong. :)
How come every good dr. is in not in my state. I swear all the people I speak to won't give you any info, you have 30 seconds and they leave, etc. I would not know what it is like to visit a dr. like this and actually talk about what to do and what is best for me based on my nose. Refreshing to hear someone actually take time to discuss things, your patients are lucky
I'm legitly scared right now. I've had this for a long long time and haven't thought much about it but i can't breathe in my left nostril and sometimes at the right i can only breathe to one and i have so many bad feelings in my body but everytime i tell my mom, i feel like she wouldn't care and i just leave it untreated...:(

Taking beet root powder every day, opens my nose within 10-15 minutes. 2. Removing seed oils from diet and eating healthier foods(a lot of organic) 3. Removing harmful detergents and other household products 4. Exercise Do your own research! Take control of your health. Good luck!
Correct, online and self care is the only help I got in my fight with this. I read and read and read and then take action on my own to see what helps. Right now the top help has come from elimination of all sugar/carbs and taking a PPI for chronic gerd. So far this helps some but not a cure. I also use Rhinocort AQ. It is the only one without preservatives and drying alcohol, I use 1 spray a day and no more seems like more = dryness. Try and use supplements also, keeping a strong immune system helps. Fish oil, Co-Q-10, vit c. Good luck
Any physician who talks about turbinate reduction and doesn't explain Empty Nose Syndrome is someone to stay far away from. This is because the physician suffers from Empty Head Syndrome.
Even if they do talk about it they sugar coat it and lie to the public and say it's no big deal. They have no idea how many lives have been ruined world wide from this pointless procedure that does more harm then good.
@@KhalKhtri And to add insult to injury they never do a nasal cytology biopsy to evaluate the mucosa at a cellular level before making a decision on removing tissue. This is just bad medicine in my humble opinion.

had a FESS operation together with an inferior turbinoplasty. Because of that operation I received Empty Nose Syndrome (ENS). Daily pain and suffering, dry nose, anxiety. Think carefully before you do any operation to your nose.
I'm sorry that you are suffering. The more that is done to the nose and sinuses, the higher the risk of ENS. The risk of ENS also depends on what general health conditions a patient may have and how healthy the lining of their nose is at baseline. Additionally, how much to do on any individual depends on the underlying problems being treated. There are also many techniques that are more tissue sparing than what used to be done in the past - all in hopes of avoiding ENS. You are 100% correct that all issues must be carefully considered before any surgery or procedure.
@@GeneLiuMD My ENT wrote SMR and BIT on my prescription. And told me that he will just remove the turbinate bone underneath to make the overall size small. Will it cause a risk of ENS. i have a problem of nasal congestion just when i lie on one side the nostril on that side get blocked and vice versa.
@0:33 This is not true or not entirely true or there is more to it then this. In Dec 2021 I had a septoplasy and a inferior turbinate reduction done. The ENT doctor did not tell me he would be doing the turbine reduction surgery. Fast forward to today. What you just said happens; that NOW happens to me. I NOW get congested, sinus infection, nasal congestion when lying face down. That never happened b4. So the turbinates cannot be solely doing that because I experienced this after they were reduced and prior to the surgery I had 0 nasal problems. I saw the ENT doctor due to a sudden trauma to the face which caused my left nostril to be clogged (for those wandering why I saw an ENT doctor at all if I had 0 nasal issues)
it’s so frustrating because i’ve had this problem my whole life. only the left nostril works and flares up and is able to have a good amount of airflow. However the other side doesn’t move at all when i flare my nostrils and there’s barely any airflow. so this has caused me to have asymmetrical nostrils. i went to the doctors about it and they kinda shook it off and said it was nothing. please lmk if anyone has this same problem as me
@@sisi6776 sometimes i feel a burning sensation but i think that’s cause it feels dry literally all the time! and yeah i’m only able to feel the littlest amount of airflow coming through only the right nostril
Mine are swollen. 9 months. No allergy. None of the sprays work. Neti pot doesn’t work. My ENT is determined to do more of NOTHING instead of surgically reducing them. Good video.
Do not have any turbinate reduction.Any method of turbinate reduction causes the risk of empty nose syndrome even in patients with a small amount of turbinate tissue reduced. the scarring dosnt heal or the nerves are damaged and cause ens.its not worth the risk that the suffering ens causes.i was one of the many unlucky ones that got ens as a result.
It feels like your nose is bone dry and when you breath it has a neurological response which makes you feel exhausted and lethargic. Similar to constantly being stuck in a tiny room with awful stuffy air with not relief ever again. I have it and lost my life. Had surgery and was told of not a single side effect
Sorry I did not mean to scare I just want people to know the risk. I had no symptoms until about 3 months after surgery where they have progressively got worse. Let me know how you feel in the future please
Thank you for explaining these procedures. I know these operations vary in cost, but could you give me a window or a range of how much it cost to have these operations. I'm considering having something done within my budget. Thank you.
He wouldnt know. They dont teach or want Ents to know about the the severity of ENS. Look for patient based videos, blogs, websites that tell you the TRUTH.

@@dunkofhell7836 oh pretty much just had to wait it out, it constantly happens though, I'll be able to breathe fine for a little while, maybe a couple days, and then one nostril will get plugged and it's back to mouth breathing. It sucks

Dambustersteve ens damn I had surgery on my nose about two years ago from boxing got head but on my nose and broke it, went to a Specalist said I had to get surgery done and I remember he saying I had to get a septoplasty and turbinate reduction and after surgery I was fine until like 4 months later I noticed I’m having trouble breathing again like if extra tissue got built in there probably from wrong healing and now that I see your post I’m like damn lol
Does this also cause loss of smell? I lost my sense of smell summer of 2019 and right nostril is blocked. I have always gone to allergy doctor but after watching your video I think I need to see a nose throat ear specialist like you. Thank you.
Empty nose syndrome is passivley dismissed as something minor if it occurs. The truth is that it is the worst torture a human can expirience. These surgeries need to be banned.
@@rd2071 why would a surgery that helps so many people be banned. The doctors just need to inform patients better of the risk and the small risk of ens.
You remind me of another asian doc, Steven Ho, based in Ontario, who wanted to do a full-plated jaw surgery on me for some basic upper/lower tooth alignment. It's alway$ by the book (drugs/surgery) with you guys, never mentioning holistic, natural approaches.
I'm about to get this surgery. It was the first thing the ENT suggested. I have 4 completely blocked sinus cavities and super swollen turbinate on the left side of my face. I'm nervous about ENS but right now its constant pressure on my face. And the turbinate is basically touching the hairy part of my nose. I consider that ens would be the same, if not a little better more misery then i feel now.
Wow nice metaphor. I bet you use it like once a day. I got turbinate reduction in both nostrils. I'm fine, breathing is fine. In fact better. I recommend the surgery 100%. ENS or not being able to breath through the nose. I'd get it again if needed

@@beatrizj.5138 I get you. I ended up having inverted papilloma. In the left maxillary. I got the mass removed, both outer turbinates reduced, and a septoplasty. The surgery really wasn't bad. I couldn't breath in through my nostrils before. Only out, and only when I forced it. Now I can breath great. If you have a good surgeon theres nothing to worry about. The recovery isnt bad either. Just get you a few days in a hotel room. And just relax.
Levi Douglas " I bet you use it like once a day." Only when responding to comments as foolish as the one you made about congestion being as bad as ENS. You think ENS just means you can't breathe? It also means severe sinus burning, cold painful air in the lungs (because the turbinates no longer warm the air) and more frequent infections because you have lost the mucous that once caught all the irritants we breathe. How disgusting that you would encourage anyone to have surgery just because it went fine for you, knowing that if it goes badly for them, it's no skin off YOUR ass. Selfish.

The world is a bizarre place. I wonder if these doctors would be so cavalier about this surgery if they had to watch someone they cared about it suffocating every day, contemplating suicide just to escape the suffering. These doctors are like the lawyers who set rapists free---it's like they think don't have sisters, daughters, mothers who could be the next victim.
Thanks Doc for this very helpful video, three weeks ago I had turbinate removal due to a trait of cancer and constant swelling. The Dr. removed my turbinate with no problems. But what should I expect in the long run from this surgery?
The doc is talking about dryness, SUFFERCATION and a nightmare like condition called "Empty Nose Syndrome" everyone should learn about this asap... It's hell. DONT ever have your turbinates touched by a surgeon, money is more important to them than your life!
The turbinate in the right side of my sinus was huge. I couldn't use a netty pot because the solution couldn't pass thru the right side. Also had terrible pain in my upper right teeth/molars. If I had the tool I would have pulled those perfectly healthy molars. My ent removed my turbinates and referred to one or both as concha bullosa. What's the difference, the size? 10+ years later I am still glad I had the surgery, still have open airways in my nose.
Ever since I was small I had a "stuffy nose". I had to breathe through my mouth causing a whole lot of impact to my developing facial structure. The dumb "money hungry" ENT didn't address the problem with my breathing but straight away booked me for adenoid, tonsils and grommets surgery at 10 years old. And he dislocated my jaw. So now I suffer from severe TMJ migraines, an overbite and breathing problems. I'm so glad I looked further into this. I'm not even as specialised as an ENT but was able to search up the reason why I couldn't breathe.
So nice of you to do this video when everyone do anything only for money God bless you doctor my question is how do we know What our specific issue is - is it allergy - phlegm- space in the nose
Doctor please inform negative permanent damage of 'Empty Nose Syndrome' caused by reshaping the turbinates. Be cautious about sinus surgery and turbinate reduction.
Unfortunately they will continue to look the other way as it will tarnish their very lucrative operation. I do agree they should be giving full informed consent on the severe consequences though it's not in the best interest of business.
They work wonderfully for certain patients who have specific type of reasons interfering with breathing. And they do nothing at all for some other underlying causes. I'm glad to hear they work for you.
Gene Liu, MD, MMM it’s true. It is just a quick fix. In my case it’s allergies. Burt I’ve been undergoing extensive allergy treatments without results (edema with urticaria all over, big swellings)... what’s working for me now is Omalizumab. Works with my skin reaction but does nothing for my nose. I don’t want to be taking more medicine, 6 months of deflazacort was enough. 😕 but these bands, do the trick ;)
I'm sorry to hear about your results. I've performed around a thousand reductions without a single case of Empty Nose Syndrome. Although it would be exceedingly unlikely for such a minor reduction to cause such significant issues, it is certainly a potential risk. There are many contributing factors that can affect how someone does after any procedure, and choosing the right candidate and performing the right procedure for that patient is the art of medicine. I sincerely hope that you are able to find some relief.
The turbinates should not be operated on. The average person has absolutely no idea how important turbinates are to breathing and that is why they allow the operation. Out of the thousand people you operated on, I can't help but wonder how many of them could have been helped with other methods since many factors can irritate the turbinates, such as stress and diet. It's easy to blame patients for wanting a quick fix, but it is also the fault of doctors for heading straight for the scalpel instead of looking for the root cause of the problem.
Mellow Mike - If you watch my video, I do go into detail about medication options and talk about managing allergies before I talk about procedures. I am also conservative procedurally and always have patients try meds and non-surgical options first. I appreciate that you had a bad outcome, and to say that no one should ever have a procedure is unfair. I wish you the best.
@@jayloving2005 this is very common, unfortunately, since ENT's operate for profit and disclosing potential risks could reduce the amount of surgical procedures, and therefore profits, those risks aren't always mentioned or explained.
The nasal airway is not supposed to be wide open. It is not a mouth. You refer to a normal airway as if it is obstructed but the turbinate is SUPPOSED to fill a fair amount of the space to enable it to do it’s job. If the air just shoots up straight past it, how can the turbinate direct, filter and humidify the air? This is actually scary that you have an entire video on this without mentioning the very real risk of ENS.
Dr. Liu, this video was incredibly helpful. Do those membranes or whatever swell up in hot air as well? Whenever my son goes into a car or room where the air is hot, he will start freaking out about not being able to breathe because his nose gets all stuffy. He's 13 now and this has been happening for many years, along with chronic stuffy nose at night
Thank you for explaining the swelling, the turbinate function and frustrations. I'm considering an in-office turbinate RF reduction procedure, because the hospital surgery sounds risky. I've had no luck with immunology, i.e., shots. Have had balloon rhinoplasty and surgery for deviated septum. CT scan says sinuses are "fine", but turbinates are too big. I swear, I'm almost ready to check out rather than have another doctor guess which part to fix this time. My sinus pressure (that I believe contributes to my depression), he says, is a headache, for which I should see a neurologist. Frankly, I think I can take care of all this myself with nine floors minimum. I can't take my depression and allergies anymore. But thanks. Your discussion was encouraging for most. Why are most ENT's so narrow in their treatment? All my life I've had allergies and depression, allergies and depression. Now add intestinal issues due to way too many steroids and antibiotics. Oh, well, tenth floor, please.
I'm sorry to hear that things are so rough. If you've already had all those other procedures done, a turbinate reduction will seem easy in comparison. The recovery isn't as bad and is reasonably fast. There really shouldn't be any downtime for most people (unless you have a very physically demanding job). I would recommend seriously seeking another opinion re: the ENT options. There really should be no harm in seeing a neurologist as well. There should be a treatable medical reason for the pressure sensation. If you really are feeling like you can't take it anymore, you should also call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline 1-800-273-8255.
I hope you are ok, really sorry to read you feel so bad. I understand because I felt so bad too, I got to a point where I didn't know how I could go on feeling that way my whole life. BUT PLEASE DO NOT DESPAIR. I had turbinates reduced and it did help me A LOT and like the Dr said it is pretty painless and easy recovery. Please seek help and look after yourself.

Avoid any surgery whatsoever AT ALL COSTS. There ARE natural methods that will heal you without permanently altering your anatomy. You must be patient. Its not safe, they say it is but it IS NOT. you're rolling the dice for a lottery you do not want to win.
some people say we shouldnt let surgeons touch these turbinates and its very unnecessary to get reduction of turbinates. I have a surgery lined up for septoplasty, i am worried now.
@@tinabastarache2674 Hey Tina, I am also following a similar path as you. Last week, I went to my ENT dr for a follow up on my nasal congestion. My ENT dr told me my nasal pathways are still inflamed. I also told him that my right nostril is harder to breathe from than my left nostril. So he took the nasal endoscopy and examine both nostrils and agreed that the right nostril is a little more congested and I have a small nasal polyp in my right nostril. He wants me to try the nasal rinse and plumicort for a month and after a month, he will take another look to check on progress. I been taking Zyrtec, Alzestine, and flutinase, however he told me to stop with the flutinase. I been having really bad allergies since childhood, and it has cause a couple of trips to my primary care doctor and hospital. I am finally getting treatment and allergy shots for my allergies. I am doing my best to avoid surgery at all cost. I also watched @Gene Liu, MD, MMM on how to use the plumicort with the nasal rinse. I am starting tomorrow.
Keep your home clean and dust free as possible! Air out your home during the day, try to keep windows and maybe even doors open. Watch your diet. Try to stay away from dairy products. Drink lots of water to clean out your body. These things he should've mentioned. They are just trained to tell you take medicine and get surgery, but you should first try natural methods to fix the problem, not cover it.
I had turbinate reduction in Ent office. The procedure was quick and recovery uneventful. As far as the outcome it did very little in alleviating my conjestion Although other patients may have better results. Dr Liu gives a good view of what to try before having this procedure. Thanks for this information video.
It's impossible to know what to do for you specifically as the underlying cause can vary a lot. You really should see a doctor to find out why it is happening. Only then can a recommendation be made as to how to treat it.
i have similar issues like u. it may be due to various causes like allergies to dust, or cold weather, or germs.. u can try these: 1. sleep on your left side (helps to open the nasal openings for me) 2. sleep facing your pillow but still to the side 3. rinse your nose using filtered salt (can buy in your local pharmacy) using neti pot or neti bottle

Thank you for explaining this so well. I have broken/fractured my nose numerous times due to training, as well as smoke cigarettes fairly regularly. And for a year, even without cigarettes, I am constantly clearing my throat and _trying_ to blow my nose to have nothing come out. I have anxiety as it is so this really makes things worse, as far as feeling panicked and uncomfortable as it is sometimes. Sometimes with a hard sneeze, or correct pressure while blowing my nose a "chunk" of phlegm (excuse the vulgarity) will come out. But still nothing improves as far as feeling constantly having something in the back of my nose/throat, also when my chin is down to my chest there is a crackling/clicking noise, like there is air pressurized slowly escaping. Is there any tips or information you would be able to give as far as what this could be? I know that without consulting in person it's nearly impossible to tell, but any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you again for the video
Do you have deviated septum? Look if 1 nostril is bigger than the other. Dr Rahim Gonstead chiropractor on youtube is known to fix deviated septums at the end of a session for free, rather than doing surgery on the bone, he adjusts the cartilage . Just saying if you have a deviated septum, dont bother on spending 5000 for a nose job/nose surgery when he does them for free (not saying you can just go get a session in general for free and this is not an ad, just some info). I would reccomend looking up eustachian tube stretches on youtube and doing those, there is one I like where you basically take your hands and stretch your jaw out, I will send a link when I find it. This has so many benefits, and their is one where you adjust your ear which does the same thing in the long run.

@@aaron4ism Anytime brotha! Alwase down to help. And you can fix the septum by yourself too! You just hold the bottom of the nose bent opposite of the deviation and then push the middle of the nose to straighten it. Hard to explain but look up "Dr rahim deviated septum" on youtube and its usually at the end of the videos where he does them and once you watch him do it, its quite easy to do yourself. Be careful as alwase though. Ive actualy done it myself and it worked!
Hi everyone im from France.. about a year ago i had a big surgery on my nose * Turbinoplasty, because i couldnt breath properly since a bit, so the doctor though that i had a deviation .. few month after the surgery , my breathing got worst. after some enquiry it turns out that i was just allergic to mite and dust and nothing else, that what caused the inflammation of my nose .. so i never needed any surgery .. anyways today im suffering from a dry nose that wakes me up at night, and making my life harder.
Oh sorry what i mean is can you breathe with ur nose or is it completely blocked? Because mine is completely blocked rn. And im trying to find any therapy.
I wish I could tell you. There are many reasons why this may be the case. Only someone who has seen you in person and evaluated you can answer your question.
Thanks for the info! It helps to know what to expect. I just had all of that done today. It'll be so nice to be able to breathe better.
i had my septoplasty with fess with b/l partial inferior turbinectomy surgery but even after 2 weeks of surgery i am unable to breathe properly in one of my nostrils can you tell how long does it takes to breathe properly

Thanks Doc for this! Looking in the mirror I wrongly thought polyps and turbinates were one and the same thing. Now it's much clearer.

Hi. Just want to say I experienced this for 4 days, and I couldn’t breath with my nose the whole time. Turns out I have Covid-19 and this was how my body was reacting to the virus. The nasal meds the ENT prescribed:
Admichin 500mg
Nasal drops & sprays: Otrivin & Avamys
Will search for my prescription to know if there was something more from the ENT.
Please let me know if you have any concerns I can answer
Please note that the Covid prescription & medicines came only after my Covid test result returned positive, which was days after I had seen the ENT - Ear Nose and Throat doctor, was already on the respiratory medications and had experienced relief from the nostril swelling...

4. Exercise
Do your own research!
Good luck

had a FESS operation together with an inferior turbinoplasty.

This is not true or not entirely true or there is more to it then this.

Be careful of messing with your turbinates (surgical): Empty Nose Syndrome.
you are right but what solution apart from the operation?
I know but it’s like choosing between two evils. What choices do we have when we’ve tried medication that doesn’t work.

This video is filled with a lot of important information
He dosnt mention turbinate reductions by even a small amount can cause empty nose syndrome.
"I consider that ens would be the same" LOL!!! Right---and getting a perverted phone call is the same as getting raped.
Wow nice metaphor. I bet you use it like once a day. I got turbinate reduction in both nostrils. I'm fine, breathing is fine. In fact better. I recommend the surgery 100%. ENS or not being able to breath through the nose. I'd get it again if needed
Levi Douglass I’m having surgery soon . I have tried everything since May 2018 and nothing has worked . I have tried steroids , allergy pills , all kind of nasal sprays and nothing works. But my condition is worst at night time when I’m going to sleep . I have to switch sides because one side get more congested than the other nostril . I Wake up with headaches and very tired all the time . I have no option but surgery 😓😓😓
Selfish.

Thanks Doc for this very helpful video, three weeks ago I had turbinate removal due to a trait of cancer and constant swelling. The Dr. removed my turbinate with no problems. But what should I expect in the long run from this surgery?
Hopefully, not much. You might experience more dryness in the nose.

The doc is talking about dryness, SUFFERCATION and a nightmare like condition called "Empty Nose Syndrome" everyone should learn about this asap... It's hell. DONT ever have your turbinates touched by a surgeon, money is more important to them than your life!
How is your breathing?
@@dominickwick2638 my breathing is great Sir, but why do I still have huge green boogers forming in the nostril that I'd had the surgery in?
Do not get Tubinates reduction please I beg you!

So nice of you to do this video when everyone do anything only for money God bless you doctor my question is how do we know
What our specific issue is - is it allergy - phlegm- space in the nose
Doctor please inform negative permanent damage of 'Empty Nose Syndrome' caused by reshaping the turbinates. Be cautious about sinus surgery and turbinate reduction.
Unfortunately they will continue to look the other way as it will tarnish their very lucrative operation.
I do agree they should be giving full informed consent on the severe consequences though it's not in the best interest of business.
I am so thankful for this doc great explanation keep it up and ty youtube recommendation
I have been using “breath right” nose bands to sleep. THEY ARE AMAZING, really really great. I recommend them a lot.
Even with a small procedure, you can end up with Empty Nose Syndrome. I had only a 10 percent reduction and now my life is unbearable.
I wish you the best.
idid surgery 2 months ago, i suffered a lot now ENS like drowning in water.. Dr didnt inform me before surgery
Same
I have the same issue , my nose even swell up on the outside and sometimes gets very red
Wow out of like 20 videos ive seen this is the most helpful for me . I have severe allergies and only my right nostril is wide open all the time
Thank you for explaining the swelling, the turbinate function and frustrations.
