Hey guys I’m 25, and it’s barely been 6 days into my recovery! If you’re scared don’t be! You won’t feel anything during the surgery you will be completely asleep. Right now my throat is in pain and the pain is radiating to both my ears, mostly my right ear but that’s to be expected since your lymph nodes and nerves are closely connected. My doctor has prescribed me pretty strong pain relieving medicine which honestly takes about 90% of the pain away! I know if you’re reading this you are completely scared and that’s okay it’s a scary operation, but take it one step and one day at a time! And soon you will recover just as quickly and go back to your regular life :) good luck and I wish you well my friend! You got this!
i woke up one morning and i was sleeping with my parents and it felt like someone was scraping scabs out of my throat😭 but it gets better the next few days. How are you now?
Oh man I needed your comment so bad! I’ll have my tonsillectomy next week. I’m little bit nervous. How ling did it take you to recover and what can I expect. Looking forward to you reply. Thank you!
I would just like to thank everyone in this comment section for the anxiety it has caused me and I would like to thank the video for the same thing truly appreciate it
im not a doctor, im not premed, im not even a med student, but i binge watch these videos from time to time. its genuinely interesting to see what doctors do in such a clear, and easy to understand format
lol it was my worsts nightmare i need to not eat for several of hours before the operation then after you can only eat soft foods and drink water and you cant talk too
i just got my tonsils and my adnoids removed on july 31, about 3 days ago, the surgary isnt bad at all, my surgary took about 45 to 60 minutes im 14 years old and my throat hurts like heck, but the doctors gave me some very nasty pain medicine, it helps alot, but i have to take the medicine every 4 to 6 hours, its very important to eat and drink soft foods and drinks, because your throat will be swollen and makes it difficult to speak clearly, sorry for my spelling mistakes.
So how old were you? I'm 16 and my that is currently in agony and I'm trying to convince my parents to take me to the ER and after reading some of the comments I'm nervous if j should or not get the surgery
I got my tonsillectomy done at age 25. The procedure went smoothly, I was in the hospital for only 4 hours. My doctor was great and explained everything clearly so I knew what was going to happen. When the anesthesia wore off once I got home, that’s when I felt the pain. My throat was white from where the tonsils were removed and I had 2 large holes. My uvula got extremely swollen, which made it hard to eat or drink. The pain was manageable, after the 5th day I was used to it and i barely noticed any pain anymore. I didn’t eat solid foods until day 11 after the surgery. I hardly talked at all until 2 weeks after the surgery. I slept a lot, which is crucial in the recovery process. The worst part about the surgery was the taste of the skin healing... it made me want to throw up. I had really bad breath.
Adenoids hurt way worse than tonsils 😩!! I got both removed and BOY. Most pain I’ve ever endured. I’ve had organs removed and it hurt less. You’re a champ! To be fair I wasn’t given any pain meds besides mild bum pills
@@Canadianclassicriches Same here Both were removed at 7 because I had trouble breathing from them. I also got infections from them and snored a lot. I had to stay overnight though for observation because I have asthma. My throat was sore, and I missed school for about a week but after that I was fine.
What do you mean? Mine were removed 2 days ago and it was only the day of the surgery when I couldn't eat anything. Now I am forced to eat solid foods like chips, crakers etc. Whats more the doc says I can only go home after this week.
I think I won the world record for the worst tonsillectomy here it was: I got them removed I barely slept I woke up at 2:00 in the morning and spit blood a lot got it to stop too Woke up at 5:00 in the morning and threw up black (blood that got into my stomach) (Next day) Went to the Hospitals ER Got put in the same room that my dad passed away in moved rooms Got an i-v stuck in my arm for 3 hours Got out of the hospital Went home Cried for hours Screamed for an hour Slept for 6 hours on my couch (Next day) Went to school Threw up more black Went home Slept (NEXT DAY) Went to school Threw up black AGAIN and spit blood Went home Slept (Next day) Stayed home Wanted to die (6 weeks later) I’m better Actual quote from my mom “If I knew it would of hurt you that bad I would never have done it” AND THAT IS THE STORY OF MY TONISLIECTOMY PLEASE LEAVE A LIKE THIS TOOK ME FOREVER
I had a tonsillectomy at 32. I have never felt so miserable in my life during recovery! I couldn't eat solid foods, brush my teeth or talk. I felt like my breath would come out in the shape of a skull like you see in cartoons since it was so rancid! Glad to be over that phase of my life!
That’s literally how I am. I can’t even eat or drink the liquid stuff is like hell, how long did this last until getting back to normal regular eating.
For all those who will go through this procedure I cannot express how much my life has changed for the better. Allergies caused my tonsils and adenoids yearly issues that caused an infection in my lungs and tonsil stones every single year! After having them removed I was down and out for a few weeks but I don't have the issues I had before. I use a prescription nasal spray when needed and sometimes eye drops. But if your afraid to get the procedure, don't be. It is all for the better and your health will improve. It might be scary to get an IV done but the surgery is worth it and when detected by a medical doctor should be taken care of.
My daughter in the age of 3.5 year had tonsillectomy, for few months I was good, she can eat everything , but after some months, she started having respiratory diseases and allergies with so much cough every time specially in winter season, so if you get a cold or dust allergy you will get respiratory infections after tonsillectomy and Adenoidectomy... Not worth having tonsillectomy, only the benefit is you can swallow everything easier , but the other side effects are there...you can't get rid of antibiotics and medicines or any permanent use of nasal sprays even after that because after surgery long term effects for other infections are waiting for you...
@@sidrahasnain6226 don't worry ..she ll get better...even my son faces the same....i just pray to God and moved to siddha for the betterment of his life....my son had both his adenoids and tonsils removed.....i too feel the same if the adenoid alone would have been removed ....but anyways they ll get better when they grow up
Can you explain what you were going through before you got the surgery? I have been going through allergy symptoms for 7 years. Constant symptoms of colds and mucus dropping down the back of my throat. My symptoms replicate cold symptoms. I can’t stand anymore. I take allergy pills and they help . But I hate taking pills every day. Lately for the last year I feel like there’s this lump/ swollen feeling in my throat. As od this week before I go to sleep my neck feels swollen and I’m not sick I don’t know why but I’m wondering if it’s cause if my tonsils
My tonsils were removed almost a week ago. I was literally just expecting a lil snip snip, eating ice cream for a few days and everything would be done. Booyyy was i wrong, it's literal hell on earth
+Charmae Angui It might be just a nerve that was injured or something but im not a doctor and it feels like i got this procedure done years ago so I can't remember if i had that pain, check with your doctor!
I had mine out in January. I was 33 years old. Worst pain I ever experienced. Absolute best thing I ever did. I used to get sick every 6 weeks. Haven't been sick since! Don't worry in the end you won't regret it :)
I had a tonsillectomy done in october 2021 for extremely holed tonsils and pain due to stones in my tonsils. I was so excited to get them out and finally live without throat pain and smelly breath. I knew it was a big price to pay though, hearing everyones stories saying “its the worst recovery ever” and boy it sure was. I was one of those 5% chances of a severe bleeding. It was about 1 week into healing, the scabs were falling off prematurely and opened a small vessel and it would constantly bleed. The first time it happened i was absolutely freaked out, especially after reading online “if you have any bleeding, contact your physician immediately” making me think id die if i wasnt seen asap. This caused me to have a horrible anxiety attack making me pass out on and off. Lucky for me, the passing out must’ve restricted my vessels cause the bleeding slowly stopped. Went to the hospital and they made me stay over night, so that if there was any bleeding again, theyd cauterize it. Stayed the night and there was no bleeding so i went home happy. Next day, i bleed again. Thats when i go to the hospital agaaain, and thats finally when they decide to cauterize me. So i had to get a second surgery, and after that one, i healed perfect. Now i live normally. So if you’re thinking of getting yours out, it better be hella worth it.
My daughter had hers tonsils and adenoid removed today, she did great... she can't eat solid food ,not till 2 days more ,only liquid and cold items . She's mad cuz she's hungry, she wants real food😕😕
Girl I feel her pain. I lost 8 pounds from only eating ice cream, soup, and jello. And I literally begged my mom for a tiny and I mean TINY piece of hamburger or chicken. It sucks
I got mine removed when I was 12- but I remember that it did not take 8-10 hours in the recovery room. Now I’m 15 and happy this is done with! It helps so muchh
hi! So tbh, it hurt. You don’t feel anything after the surgery! It hurts to eat for a few days. In the Mornings when the pain killers wear off I would cry, but looking back now, it wouldn’t hurt as much. The medicine is terrible! It taste bad, but other then that I think you will be fine! For my surgery I got my adenoids removed also so maybe that’s why mine hurt, but your will be fine. Good luck, hope you recover well 💗
@@strawberryxkiss6748 Oh thank you so much I asked a lot of people and some of them said it doesn't hurt at all and some of them said it hurts a lot! But you said it in a lot of detail. Thank you so much!
I recently got my tonsils and adenoids out a week ago and I’m 24. I am still healing and the scabs have not fallen off yet, but I’m told they will soon. Keep hope and keep pushing strong because now we won’t have to deal with tonsil issues any longer. It’s will hurt, but you will get through it.
I had my tonsils removed as an adult, and it was truly the worst pain I have ever felt in my life, and I have a fairly high pain tolerance. If I had to do it all over again I wouldn't.
@@puglug5286 I don't wnat to make you any more nervous than you already are, but I'm not going to lie to you either. Imagine a sore throat, and multiply it by 100 then imagine that non-stop for 3 days straight. Eating is painful, drinking is painful, breathing is painful. At day 4 after surgery even with the pain meds it was agony. On day 5 I sneezed and literally thought I was dying. After the first week things were fine. But It was not a pleasant experience. I will say that If i had to do it all over again I probably would, because I haven't has so much as a sore throat since I got them removed. I was worth it. But I'm not gonna sugar coat it. It Fucking Hurts
Just removed mine today! My very first surgery experience lol. I had severe pain all over (migraine, ears, neck, tonsil area). Thankfully i'm on some meds right now and feel sol much better! Focus your mind on the benefits to get you through the pain and pray for an easy & fast recovery!. Good luck everyone :) 💖
@@C2H-FF Hi! Yes, in general it is but has to do with the individual as well, some people hurt less than others and have easier recovery. In my case it was tough but in the end it totally worth it
I’m at my 21th day after surgery and the first week was hell for sure. Especially the first night after surgery and the 5th-7th day. I promise you after that it gets a lot better. At day 9-10 I could eat almost anything. I still have some minor pain today when I wake up or when I yawn but no pain when I swallow anymore. Drink lots of water it really helps a lot. Follow your doctor’s instructions and wait for maximum 10 days then the hardest part is over. Stay strong !! ❤
I had this done just around almost 8 years ago and I’m like a whole different person with the my health. I was really scared of the surgery but they gave me really nice food afterwards x
@@charlotteanderson5126 i think i have it because my like on two sides on my throats hurts when i swallow. and i love spicy food so idk whats finna happen i pray i dont have it because i dont wanna get put to sleep ..
I had a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy when I was 4 but remember it quite well. The doctors were amazing. Sadly my body didn't take to the shock that well and I got sick so we went back to the hospital and I stayed overnight for observation.
After several bouts of tonsillitis, I had a tonsillectomy done a few years ago. I'm an adult and it was pretty painful, but for me, it has been well worth it!
I have a major strep throat right now and it kills me! I can't do anything. I can't sleep, I can't eat, I can barely drink and the pain is extremely consistent and constant, I can never make it stop, at all.
Sadly all of that ice cream stuff about getting your tonsils out is not true. :( I got mine out and they said no dairy products because it will make the pain medicine stop working. Still get popsicles though :)
My brother was three or four when he got his adenoids removed and tubes put in his ear (around 10-11 years ago), and just today my sister, five, got both her tonsils and her adenoids removed. She keeps humming to herself and she’s hardly talking. I can’t imagine how much pain she’s in, but this was really informative to what happened during the surgery.
I had my tonsils and adenoids removed almost 5 years ago and I remember that the night before my surgery I stayed up late and ate a little bit. I have low blood sugars so I have to eat every 3 hours but I couldn’t eat the morning before surgery so yee. We made sure it was in the time period that I was allowed to eat before surgery. Later that night there were really bad storms. My anxiety was just awful back then so I asked my mom if we could go downstairs and blow up the blow up bed so we did. I didn’t get much sleep. My little sister was staying with my grandma because I didn’t want her to see me in pain afterwards. Plus she is quite loud and annoying. We went to the hospital and they went over what they were gonna do. They had these little toy cars in the Hospital so they let me drive one to the surgical room. It helped relieve my anxiety quite a bit so I really appreciated that. I got onto the surgical bed and then the anesthesiologist explained to me what she was about to do, so she put the mask thing on me and told me to count backwards from 10. I did and when I got to 8 I heard them complaining on my red hair-the ironic thing about that is it takes more anesthesia to get a red head to go to sleep for some reason so I’m just there thinking “why are you talking as if I’m sleeping” I got down to 0 and was still slightly awake when I felt a bit stronger of a sent of the anesthesia because it smelled like bubblegum or something. The next thing I know I’m in the recovery room with a few other beds near me and there was gold nail polish and a monster high puzzle at the end of my bed. Back then I was obsessed with monster high so I thought that was just the best thing. There was a nurse who handed them to me when she saw I was awake and asked me if I wanted to go see my parents. I nodded my head yes, so she and some other nurses took me back to the room I was originally in. Then I fell asleep. After a few rounds of sleeping for about an hour and being awake for five minutes I finally stayed awake and the nurse asked me if I wanted a popsicle. I nodded yes again and she brought me one along with my medicine. I took the medicine and ate the popsicle. The majority of that popsicle melted and fell down onto the covers of the bed I was on lol. Next thing I know I’m itching all over my body and my mom notices and sees that I’m breaking out all over my body. I was allergic to the medicine. My mom got a nurse who then put some antibiotics (I think lol) into my IV. The rash went away after awhile. When I was finally ready to go home I had had probably an entire pack of popsicles of which I probably only got a third of into my mouth XD. The nurse told my parents to switch between giving me three Ibuprofen and two tyenall (I can’t spell lmao) every three hours. After about three and a half days of that I couldn’t take the taste of them anymore (I took the ones that melt in your mouth cuz I couldn’t swallow pills and with just having my tonsils removed there was no way I was going to learn how). I found sneaky ways of hiding the fact that I hadn’t taken them from my parents. They found out though and tried to convince me to take them. They ended up calling the doctor who said that it was fine that I wasn’t taking them as long as I didn’t have a ton of pain. I ended up going through more than half of the recovery time without medicine and the two “most painful days” when the scabs fall off. How-no idea. But yeah overall I got to miss a ton of school and didn’t need to make it up so that was epic lol.
I had a successful Tonsillectomy 15 days ago. I was in the hospital for 5 days just to make sure everything is going to be taking care of. This video is exactly what you'll expect before and after surgery. Thank God everything works well. Im still in recovery but feeling good now. The first week was really difficult but its okay I can breath much better now and no too much allergy experience like before. Bad breath due to my tonsils is gone too and i hope no more recurring sore throat. Which is the main reason why I decided to through this operation.
my tonsils had been swollen for 7 months straight until i got them removed yesterday, finally! i’m 21 and have been suffering for a while. so far my experience has been okay! my advice is to stay on top of pain medication regimen or else you’ll continue to play catch up! good luck on your surgeries!
I got mine removed three days ago and I was told it starts to hurt worse by around the sixth day the most and I’m so nervous but the surgery itself was very easy because my doctors made it very simple on me and my family and the anesthesia worked very well
Best Tonsillectomy Recovery Ever!!! Age 21 Day 1- Before the surgery They messed up my Iv but whatever. It didn’t hurt that bad. I generally have pretty bad needle anxiety but for some reason I was really chill. Then I dressed myself up and got wheeled out after they put heart monitor patches on my chest. Anesthesia: The doctor was really nice. Put it in while I was being wheeled in a bed to the operation room. They told me I wouldn’t remember most of it and I remember speaking like 2 sentences before I was out. I felt a little lightheaded but not dizzy. Pretty pleasant. Kinda felt a little like nitrous oxide but it took a little extra work to really connect what I was saying to the words that were coming out of my mouth to the doctors lmao. I was just a little slower and then boom. Before I even knew it I was out and I have some good drug tolerance. I figured I could fight it a little longer haha. It didn’t feel hot. Maybe a little chilly but nothing unbearable. I only felt it in my hand before I was out and it definitely wasn’t a panic inducing feeling for me. After the Surgery: I woke up feeling like I slept a good nights worth of sleep. Wide awake! I didn’t sleep on the 2hr drive home and my meds took about 4 HOURS for me to get. 😤🙅♂️ Talking right away. Singing right away. Smoking right away 🤷🏻♂️ Coughing is even fine. The only thing that is annoying are the hiccups. By day 2 the pain was the same but half of my scabs have already formed AND fallen off. Day 3: a little more sore but that’s bc the hotdogs were NOT a good choice lmao. Citrusy popsicles or soda didn’t feel good on this day either but it really only was THIS day. It’s Day 4: my scabs are completely gone. Just a little green fluid in the back. The only thing is that I’m tired all the time but I need to wake up every 4 hours to take my medicine. Yawning isn’t bad but it is uncomfortable. I have only heard bad stories and I figured prepare for the worst... but it would have been nice to see some good recoveries out there too! I hope some people can relate!!
Thank you so much man, I'm 18 and I'm FINALLY getting them removed tomorrow, it's 3 am and I have to be at the hospital at 7 am lmao, seeing these comments made me anxious like I HATE physical pain and I dont wanna wake up during surgery cuz it'll be a literal nightmare, but after reading your story I'm fine, thanks fam
What is it like when the Scabs fall off? I got my surgery done yesterday morning around 8am and this is day two. I’ve had a lot of ice cream and soup, and today is 10x worse than after the surgery. I can’t even talk.
Isabella Dimsdle dont worry the pain gets worse at the 2nd-3rd day, it feels better afterwards, it’s the 5th day and I can already eat some hard food lol just take your meds
Hi my tonsils had been removed today I had recurring tonsillitis an it had been removed today thank God for taking me through that surgery successfully an bringing me out all well
This is pretty cool. I got my adenoids out, and I had no idea exactly what it looked like. For anyone wondering about the adenoid surgery and my experience, I went under fine and woke up drowsy from the anesthesia. I went home with a couple popsicles and pretty much was fine in about a day or 2. No longer getting ear infections was amazing.
Thank you for sharing your experience! >"...4 year olds screaming for their mums.." That is such a sad mental image, but, like you, they are most likely doing well today!
I remember my tonsillectomy at 4yo. I was in a lot of pain before the surgery, but trust me, the endless ice cream afterwards absolutely made up for it. I was SO much happier after!!
I got my tonsils and adenoids removed on 2/5/2022. (I'm 15) I got them removed because I had tonsilitis since December last year. The surgery took only 15 minutes and I stayed in the hospital overnight. I was given lots of fluids and pain medication to help. I was severely dehydrated and had my blood pressure monitored every couple of hours. For the first day, I only ate soft, cold foods such as ice cream, jelly and yoghurt. On the second day, I was told to start eating normally again but not to eat any food that was hot. I still ate softer foods such as noodles and pasta. On the third day, it was basically the same. I sleep a lot because of the pain medication I was given. I still struggle to talk and I have a very raspy voice. When I wake up, the pain is insane but after taking medication it settles down. The back of my throat is super swollen which makes it hard to eat and I'm starting to get scabs.
I had a tonsillectomy when I was 4. I remember my throat feeling endlessly sore before the procedure. I don’t remember how I felt after, except for the pure joy of having popsicles and ice cream whenever I wanted!! 😁
I had both out when i was 8 due to having strep throat every other week for a year and nearly dying from them closing. Worst 3 weeks of my life. I couldn't eat anything due to the pain and if i drank something it felt like i was drowning. But i have no regrets in the end for the most part. And i ate so much freaking ice cream that week (I've been hearing people saying they weren't allowed dairy products. That's bs cause it helped me so much and i probably wouldn't have been okay if not) I'm greatful to never have strep throat again, but am disappointed that every time I've gotten a nasel drop since, it's hurt like hell. To those about to get theirs out. I wish you luck and you will not regret it in the end.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who isn't a child and who's starting to feel some of symptoms of these tonsil whatever you call it. Only prob I have currently is the feeling of blockage of my airway or hard to swallow in general. It's pretty swollen from my self-examination, this is the first it really bothered me, though, it seems people who have removed them seem indifferent or better. I rarely get sick so I prob should consider this surgery and get them removed so I can probably sing louder.
I just got mine removed today, both my tonsils and adenoid were gone when o woke up. I like how they don’t show us the tools before they put us to sleep because as a anxiety driven 13 year old boy this is less scary than school
I'm 28, I got my tonsls out a week ago because I had chronic tonsillitis. It just kept coming back every month since Nov. But seriously, the recovery from the surgery's been hell. The most painful experience in my life so far. I couldn't eat and swallow without agonizing pain for a week. And the bastard docs gave me some shit weak pain med. Nights and mornings are the worst when it all gets dry. Drinking plenty of liquids is crucial even if it hurts.
Most of all I liked the phrase about anaesthesia. You know, my adenoids were removed in far away 1997 in Minsk, and I was only 6 years old. The doctor had given me only local anaesthesia and nobody paid attention to the allergic reaction that occurred. As a result, I have felt everything and turned blind for at least 30 seconds because of pain and shock. I will never ever forget that day.
@@C2H-FF I got mine removed this morning on 1/6/2022 @ 43 years old and I must say that the PAIN is amazingly under rated. Ouch I can't even drink water !!!
I got my tonsils removed a week before I turned 9. It was horrible. I had recurring/chronic tonsillitis for 2 years or so before and got “strep throat” 9 times in a school year. I couldn’t talk at all for 3 days and then I had a super sore throat for 2 weeks. Tbh this video kinda scares me now that I see how it’s actually done... but it’s worth it in the end and when u get older so u won’t get sick as often anymore! Whenever I get sick the worst part is the sore throat cuz u can’t even drink water and swallow without immense pain
I had a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy done at the same time when I was little. I want to say about 7 or 8. The recovery was sooooo painful. I remember I could not swallow w/o being in so much pain. All I could eat were smoothies and ice creams. And my parents decided to have the procedure done in Mexico lol
Taylor Mcwhorter damn, that sucks not only Bc you don’t get a break but ik that a lot of ppl have DANK breath after the surgery, ik I did bc my mom wouldn’t even let me go near her face and I was 6 at the time so that says a lot
Huang Junhua thats not the point their trying to make. There's been many cases where a person have regained consciousness during a surgery yet they cant move, but feel everything.
It can happen, but it does not happen as often as news reporters and the internet like to make it sound. Before the surgery, the patient is asked if they use drugs like marijuana, or other certain medications that can interact with the anesthesia. It's so important to be honest about any drug use, including alcohol and medications (though marijuana and opioids are the big ones). They won't tell the police, don't worry :) if you're honest and you follow the pre-surgery instructions, your chance of waking up is minimal.
I woke up during my impacted wisdom teeth removal surgery and I was able to move.. moaned in pain while the doctor said uh oh you waking up? And before I knew it I was out again lol but not being able to move or make any noise would have been pure torture 😫
I got my tonsils and adenoids removed 3 years ago I remember having to take medicine to stop the pain every 2 hours! Even in the middle of the night . I didn’t go to school for 3 days because it hurt to talk . One of those 3 days was Halloween so I didn’t eat any candy other than sucking on lollipops but I did eat so much ice cream and popsicles . My brother thought I was aloud to have ice cream after my surgery so he got me a McFlurry than realized I couldn’t have it so he ate it in front of me! Before the surgery the hospital said I could pick a movie to watch after my surgery that was stupid because I was so drowsy that I slept threw the whole thing.i had to stay overnight at the hospital good thing my mom was friends with my nurse so I got extra care. Well that’s my story . And for those who are scared inhale and exhale take a deep breath the hell will be over in 2 weeks. GOOD LUCK .
I got my tonsils out in first grade because they were giving me sleep apnea, and I had strep throat every month. I missed a week of school to stay home eating lots of ice cream and watching TV. 10/10 experience
I had my tonsils removed yesterday. I’m on day 2, with waking up in the night with 6/10 pain, but drinking juice and eating ice cream makes it a consistent 3/10 pain. If you’re scared, don’t be. It’s just like tonsillitis.
i was 9 years old when i got my tonsils removed....i still remember that i was on ice cream diet for 1 whole week...n my elder brother (11 years that time) used to steal my ice creams.... today i am 28 years old....dont get scared of this operation.... it doesn't hurt at all
My tonsils were in very bad shape, when I was 12/13 years old. A slight cold drink brought immense pain, at times it was filled with puss. I took two injections that my doc suggested and after that I tried to take hot water every time. But gradually I tried both hot and cold beverages in small sips and it got less sensitive towards cold beverages. Now totally fine with cold beverages.
I am on day two of this and lemme just say I always had the worst sore throats and when I got sick my already enlarged tonsils would swell up and it was terrible. So far I can’t really feel pain all it feels like is when you need to cry and it’s all balled up in your throat and you can’t just get rid of it. This has so far not been bad once so ever.
I had my tonsils and adenoids out a week ago, I've lost weight and I can barely eat anything. 😫 It's like having tonsillitis but worse I guess?? To all you people looking at this video before you have your tonsils out, you'll be fine and you'll survive. You'll have a team of doctors looking after you and they won't let anything bad happen. :)
stxrdust Thank you so much for the positive vibes. My 8 year old is having her tonsillectomy in exactly a month from today. She had big tonsils and,its causing some mild sleep apnea if she lays flat. Plus she gets at least 4 to 8 throat infections a year! Im trying to get over strep throat as I'm sitting here and,i had the worst of it Monday. A fever of 102 and, vomiting numerous times included. I always get sick to my stomach with strep. I guess it's my body's way of getting the infection out. IDK but, none of its fun! My mama was 2 scared to let her babygirl at that time have surgery. I get strep often in the fall and, winter months. Now I'm almost 41 and, really wish my mom who's passed on now (god rest her soul) would have listened to the doctor & had them removed. So I look at it this way I'm helping my babygirl out for the rest of her life. I hate that she's got to have her first ever surgery but, I also believe in Jesus Christ and,i know him & his Angel's will be watching over her during surgery and, guiding the doctor! I'm just trying to keep as positive as possible for her! So I'm letting her read the positive comments! God bless you!
I suffered with chronic bulging tonsils. They never went back down after getting tonsilitis at 9yrs old. Interfere with my breathing, sleep apnoea was bad. I finally got mine removed on the 8th of October this year at 27yrs old. Only now did I decide to watch how it's done. I think I've handled it pretty well, every one recovers differently. Managing it with paracetamol and ibuprofen. Day 3 is when it got worse. Constant pain in ear, throbbing head ache and very swollen sore throat. Swallowing is a struggle and when it's bad it's like someone's drilling a needle into your ear. But it can only get better from here.
For any random person stumbling across these videos. It's not that bad. Take your meds and eat oatmeal. It's like having strep with tonsillitis. I am sure it's pain you experienced before. Stay away from all the videos and the internet readings.
I just got my tonsils out on the 23rd of august and I’m 22 years old. The pain the first couple of days was hell but it’s slowly decreasing. Hopefully the pain will completely go away within a week.
Hey, I’m a fellow 22-year-old looking at the possibility of a tonsillectomy this summer. Any advice or stories about your recovery? I’ve been very anxious about dialing the number to schedule the surgery
I got my tonsils removed two weeks ago. As i woke up i was so dizzy my parents took me home i ate like 3 or 4 popsicles. Then i was choking oh my god that hurt like hell. Next day i was laying in bed all day eating popsicles and drinking water. After a week my throat started to get a lil better. Then i realized i didn't have to go to school . so i told my friends to keep me updated on whats going on in school. I ate a lil bit of pizza because it didn't hurt to swallow anymore.
My daughter who is 8 had hers done 2days ago. I must say she is a solider fr fr. Her little butt was scared to death before the surgery when she got into recovery she was fine and the nurses said she didn't ask for any pain meds or say it hurts. They said the only thing she asked for was water. Got her home she still didn't complain of pain. She threw up a lot but I truly think that was the anesthesia wearing off. 2 days later she still really won't eat food but still drinking and eating ice cream and stuff and still has complained of pain. I don't know if she is not telling me it hurts cause she doesn't like to take pain meds but she sticking it out and still talking her ass off and swallowing.
Me watching this after my tonsil removal. I’m 5 days into the Recovery process and it’s definitely painful but not as bad as I expected it to be so far.
Im so glad I got mine removed, i can actually breathe through my nose properly and I'll no longer have my tonsils swell up like balloons. Im 25, they usually dont remove them for adults, but my surgeon said mine are some of the largest he's ever removed. Theyre being tested for lymphatic cancer now, which is a little scary, but im just so relieved to have them gone. Throat is definitely sore but I'd take this over having them any day. Mine were already pretty close to touching whenever they werent swollen, and when they did swell they would literally rub against each other, making swallowing even water excruciating and difficult.
I got this procedure done when I was twelve. It was a pretty easy thing to go through. The doctors even took a picture of me with the shower cap on while I was all loopy from the sedative and stuff. The one thing that still bugs me to this day about my procedure is that, instead of removing a portion of my uvula like they were supposed to, they just removed it entirely. My uvula was so large that it touched my tongue and made me have serious snoring problems. Now I have no uvula...it sucks.
I just want to say praise GOD I don’t have to worry about nothing because I’m saved and going home!!! Turn to the LORD and have all!!!! GOD is so good amen!!!! Keep doing for the LORD using your special gift amen hallelujah praise GOD!!!
Had my tonsils taken out and today is recovery day six. 8/18. Surgery day 0 was 8/12. I'm one of those cases that aren't really that bad. I read all the horror stories I'm sure you're reading before your surgery and nearly canceled mine lol. I've been managing pain with just tylenol and ibuprofen. I've been able to eat and drink okay. I opted not to talk because I don't want to strain my throat. My tip with that is to get an Alexa. On the app you have the announcement option and I type everything I need to say outloud and it reads it out for me. Also get a humidifier. I tried without and woke up with a dry patch in my throat around the 3rd night. It started making me cough and omg after I slurped down some jello to stop it, I went straight on Amazon and ordered one for next day delivery 😵💫. Cold coconut water helps. The potassium and magnesium helps with wound healing. I've been eating salmon once a day because the nutrients in that really helps and its easy to chew up and swallow. I hope this helps.
@@vmr623 My tonsils were huge to the point it would hurt to talk because of the pressure on my vocal cords. Also tonsil stones were playing a role and causing bad breath.
I had my tonsils and adenoids removed a few days ago. Anaesthesia is literally amazing, I wish I could sleep like that every night. It pains like hell for atleast a week, and don’t be under the impression that you will enjoy ice cream. For 3 days, even eating ice cream will feel like a torture
I got mine removed when i was like 5/6. Could eat or swallow it was awful. My voice is no longer weird though. It was worth it. Best to do it when your kids are small because the younger the easier it is to recover
your lucky mine are so swollen I can't breath I can't eat I can't swallow I can't talk and I've had strep for over 4 times this year and they won't take them out 😠😢😢 it's getting very painful
I used to have a lot of tonsil stones and I would always have sore throats and strep. My mom made an appointment with an Ear/Nose/Throat doctor and he looked at my tonsils and scheduled a surgery right away. It's been a week and it hurts but it's better than always being sick.
I'm getting mine out August 9th I'm so happy!!! Last year has been so horrible due to 4 cases of strep in the whole year. :/ I hit this major depression because I had no idea what was wrong with me! I went to my ENT doc around April & he said I looked okay when in reality I felt like shit I kept explaining what my symptoms were and he just said "come back if it worsens" all along I knew were my tonsils but I guess he wanted me to come back and see if I got worse! I stopped talking to everyone because having tonsillitis causes very bad breath! I hit depression and anxiety!!!! For a whole year!!! Until last month I decided to go back again and demand to get them removed!!!! I just came back from my appt and I'm happy to say I'm getting them removed!!!!! It has been one hell of a year!!!! A very uncomfortable year :/!!! And now I'm glad I'm starting a new chapter guys!!!! Yay for surgery.!!
That's awesome!! I'm actually getting mine out August 8th and I'm pretty happy about it too, this year I've had the worst sore throats and I'm ready to just be done with it! 😄
I removed my tonsils when I was 14 After the surgery it was hard to swallow my saliva..I was feeded only soft food for a month or two..it was hard, took me like half of a year to fully recover from the pain but now I'm 19 and I'm doing just fine. I made the right choice and my voice tone changed too... It's indeed No Pain No gain..make your choices it's your life..
Back in the day, it was regular practice to remove tonsils when children reached 5 to 6 years old. We were promised lots of ice cream and allowed some extra whining. My daughter had to wait until a young adult. She agrees with the poster who said it was unexpectedly hell on earth. I don't recall having my own tonsils out as being all that bad, so maybe we should consider going back to that practice. A lot less strep throat - that's for sure!
I had to have both my tonsils and adenoids removed multiple times when I was a kid. All I remember from each time was right as they put me under, and then it was like a switch flipped a second later and I woke up. For some reason they kept growing back.
My tonsils are removed 5 days ago, The first day I could eat en drink , the next day I couldn’t eat any thing just drinking water I also lost my appetite ! the Dr. told me exactly what’s gona happen to me after the surgery and it did happened, two hours ago I bled for fifteen minutes from the wound after I coughed, I was careful not to cough but this time I couldn't resist, it easier for the children the Dr. said because the recovering faster, don’t worry if you want to do it ! it’s just tow dark weeks in your life and that’s it, you will invest that for the future!
I have chronic tonsillitis I’ve had huge tonsils ever since I was a little kid but my mom didn’t want to remove them, now I’m 17 and I’m so done they literally hurt 24/7 and I’m debating whether I should get them removed or not.
Just had my tonsils removed yesterday, for me I have zero pain and am able to eat Comfortably enough, I tought this would be much worse, its mostly just a dry feeling in my mouth, I tought it would be much worse, I suppose it all depends on the person and how well you deal with pain and how good you heal
Come back to this day 2 after getting them out and honestly , it has been nothing what people have said , everyone said it’s gonna hurt , no maam . it’s my 2nd day and i’m feeling GREAT ( everyone’s pain tolerance is different) but it’s going to be okay! honestly best thing ive done, dont be scared especially if it’s something to better your health.
I was about 4 when my tonsils were removed. I still remember going into the hospital that night and trying to play with a rainbow coloring thing but my mom kept wanting me to try on cute hats for some reason. I remember my disappointment that I didn't get to play with what I wanted because the doctor walked in, but I don't really remember much else for that day. I vividly remember waking up though. I was on a white bed hospital bed, surrounded by strangers in white, everything was so bland in color, and tubes were coming out of me. Of course, I was a little four (ish) year old with severe anxiety, so waking up in a weird place with unfamiliar people was not okay, and I instantly started screaming. The doctors couldn't calm me down and I wouldn't let them touch me without thrashing so they eventually had to go get my parents. I'm pretty sure this was immediately after the surgery as I hadn't been moved to a proper room so my parents weren't supposed to enter there, but I wasn't having it. My parents came in and I stuck to my mom's arm like a koala, so the doctors had to let my mom be really close to the bed while pushing it to the room I was meant to be in (I think they had to actually let my mom lay on the bed with me at one point). My dad was upset that I called for my mom instead of him. The rest of my time at the hospital was happy, I mostly remember eating purple Popsicles and seeing my grandpa come in and smile. I think I stayed there for about 2 or 3 days since I was so small. And I had to use this weird machine at night that I don't remember anything about besides it was loud. Also I might have hurt my throat from screaming but I don't remember.
i got a combo tonsillectomy + adenoidectomy due to chronic sinus infections and strep. my surgeon was phenomenal and had my whole operation done perfectly in 24 minutes. that was over a decade ago and i never have gotten a sinus infection or step once since.
I got my tonsils out 6 days ago. The day I was getting them removed thinking it was all gonna be about ice cream and no more pain with tonsillitis but boy was I wrong. Today I woke up at 5am crying in pain and was bleeding for 20 straight. Hopefully the next few days aren’t as painful as today!
Me and my brother were born with abnormally large tonsils. Mine weren't too huge where it became a problem, but my brother's was. He became malnutritioned since he couldn't swallow, and had to get them removed
I was THISCLOSE to getting mine removed but then my boyfriend recommended I start gargling mouth wash and it helped my recurring tonsillitis. I haven't had it in months and my tonsils aren't inflamed anymore!
15 years old and got my tonsils removed almost a week ago. Already lost 13 pounds and I️ keep waking up in agony and I️ stopped breathing when they gave me the anesthesia so I️ basically almost died in my sleep. I’d much rather have my tonsils and adenoids.
How are you now?

i just got my tonsils and my adnoids removed on july 31, about 3 days ago, the surgary isnt bad at all, my surgary took about 45 to 60 minutes im 14 years old and my throat hurts like heck, but the doctors gave me some very nasty pain medicine, it helps alot, but i have to take the medicine every 4 to 6 hours, its very important to eat and drink soft foods and drinks, because your throat will be swollen and makes it difficult to speak clearly, sorry for my spelling mistakes.

Ive got tonsillistes , sorry im not good at spelling, but i dont need my tonsills removed!
Tell me how do you feel one year later, do you get no sore throats ever anymore?
@@ibrahimhadid9257 I’m back to normal. Don’t get any sore throats.

Both were removed at 7 because I had trouble breathing from them.

I had a tonsillectomy at 32. I have never felt so miserable in my life during recovery! I couldn't eat solid foods, brush my teeth or talk. I felt like my breath would come out in the shape of a skull like you see in cartoons since it was so rancid! Glad to be over that phase of my life!
one of the most important things during a tonsillectomy recovery is regarding age, but i hope you're absolutely fine now
On which day did you feel like back to normal and able to go to work?
I felt like there was a scab when I got my tonsils removed
That’s literally how I am. I can’t even eat or drink the liquid stuff is like hell, how long did this last until getting back to normal regular eating.
@aminaebadatian9476 About 4-5 weeks before I was able to finally use mouthwash, brush my teeth and eat something solid
Thank you for this reply! Besides the pain, it's important to inform people on the benefits after having them removed. I can't wait.
Super excited for mine! Thank you for showing some of the benifits!
I feel so bad for those who are experiencing some severe pain after this surgery. It wasn't any worse than a sore throat for me...

“Guilltone clamp” what a banger name for something medical
I had a successful Tonsillectomy 15 days ago. I was in the hospital for 5 days just to make sure everything is going to be taking care of. This video is exactly what you'll expect before and after surgery. Thank God everything works well. Im still in recovery but feeling good now. The first week was really difficult but its okay I can breath much better now and no too much allergy experience like before. Bad breath due to my tonsils is gone too and i hope no more recurring sore throat. Which is the main reason why I decided to through this operation.
I was so worried about the removal of my tonsils, when I watch this video it helped me relax a bit more.
It made me cry even more I’m getting mine tmr aka today it’s 3:00am
i have tonsillitis its so paintfull to swallow😢
The Slayer how long does it last
Get them removed!
I know. I have it too
I have tonsil stones 😢😢😢😢😢😢
How old are you
my tonsils had been swollen for 7 months straight until i got them removed yesterday, finally! i’m 21 and have been suffering for a while. so far my experience has been okay! my advice is to stay on top of pain medication regimen or else you’ll continue to play catch up! good luck on your surgeries!
I got mine removed three days ago and I was told it starts to hurt worse by around the sixth day the most and I’m so nervous but the surgery itself was very easy because my doctors made it very simple on me and my family and the anesthesia worked very well
Best Tonsillectomy Recovery Ever!!! Age 21
Day 1- Before the surgery
They messed up my Iv but whatever.
How did you recover so fast
@@PerfectParadox2k Dude dont I regret eating hard food, it's almost 3 weeks and i still get pain smh I got scars of hard food
How does this feel ....
who else thought when they were about to pull the tonsils out it was gonna burst?
no just me ok

I was planning to have mine removed, after taking a quick look at the comments I decided I will abort the mission. Thanks a lot!
Thank you for sharing your experience!
>"...4 year olds screaming for their mums.." That is such a sad mental image, but, like you, they are most likely doing well today!
that is sad but March 27 I got my tonsils out too
I remember my tonsillectomy at 4yo. I was in a lot of pain before the surgery, but trust me, the endless ice cream afterwards absolutely made up for it. I was SO much happier after!!
I got my tonsils and adenoids removed on 2/5/2022. (I'm 15)
I got them removed because I had tonsilitis since December last year.
Thank you for sharing your experience. Hope you feel better soon!
Omg i feel the same i hate surgery too
I just got mine removed today, both my tonsils and adenoid were gone when o woke up.
I remember I tried to eat hot Cheetos after my tonsillectomy 😂 that was the most painful thing I've ever experienced 😂.
Omg😂
I did too
I ate a cheeseburger after my tonsils came out I feel you're pain bro.
No...why...
Natalie Valdivia OMG #HOTCHEETOS4LIFE
Most of all I liked the phrase about anaesthesia.
Just got my tonsils removed today!!! Had a great surgery and hopefully I’ll have a good healing process :)
I bet your having some pain now
Was it painful 😞 please reply
@@C2H-FF I got mine removed this morning on 1/6/2022 @ 43 years old and I must say that the PAIN is amazingly under rated. Ouch I can't even drink water !!!
@@DonnKeith are you sleeping better
2 weeks Ice pops and slushies is my favorite part
Mom make me go to school tomorrow got them out the 13 it is the 17
Taylor Mcwhorter damn, that sucks not only Bc you don’t get a break but ik that a lot of ppl have DANK breath after the surgery, ik I did bc my mom wouldn’t even let me go near her face and I was 6 at the time so that says a lot

Adél Svobodová same I'm just so so scared anxiety triggered 😣😣😣
oh you can damn try LOL its not going to be possible XD once they jack you... you out for 6 hours

YOU WATCH EDDSWORLD?!?!? 😃😃😃😅😅
I went on that surgery on January 11 2012. I also had grommets inserted on that same day. This day was the most memorable event of my entire life.
"Grommet this, grommet that, THE FUCK DOES GROMMET MEAN!!?!?" Like if you get the reference lol.
I have tonsil now.the doc said is infection.and inject me a antibiotic only im 25yirs old.what can i do
I have no memory of getting my tonsils removed I was just five, my family just told me and later in life I met the doctor who removed them
I had my tonsils removed yesterday. I’m on day 2, with waking up in the night with 6/10 pain, but drinking juice and eating ice cream makes it a consistent 3/10 pain. If you’re scared, don’t be. It’s just like tonsillitis.
i was 9 years old when i got my tonsils removed....i still remember that i was on ice cream diet for 1 whole week...n my elder brother (11 years that time) used to steal my ice creams.... today i am 28 years old....dont get scared of this operation.... it doesn't hurt at all
What type of symptoms when u have this ..my daughter have tonsils..nd she is only 6 years .. do pray for her nd plz share your experience
Thank you for helping me lol I’m getting mine taken out tomorrow
God bless you!
nefarious I am getting mine out this Friday and I am super scared but after reading this comment makes me feel happy
Thank you for sharing - I hope the pain gets better soon!
Are you fully recovered now? How is your sleep now?
I had an adenoid ectomy 3 weeks ago, although the recovery has its ups and downs, im feeling so much better!
For any random person stumbling across these videos. It's not that bad. Take your meds and eat oatmeal. It's like having strep with tonsillitis. I am sure it's pain you experienced before. Stay away from all the videos and the internet readings.
nerd chick what if you don't take your meds please reply I got mine out 5 days ago it's painful
Why wouldn't you take your meds? 😑

I was happy when my tonsils were surgically removed when I was a child cause my breakfast, lunch, and dinner was ice cream. Lmao😂❤️
tell me plzz
Can i remove it my medicine or not🙏🏻🙏🏻plzz
How much that removing tonsil?
Asgar Ambross It’s not very recommended since our tonsils are our first line of defense. I’m more prone to allergies now😩
Lyn Nasayao I do not know cause I was a kid and my parents had insurance so it was pretty cheap
Ok.thank u
TIP
it is going to hurt and you may regret having it done but it helped me so much and it will all be worth it in the future
I just got my tonsils removed today and I’m in so much pain :,)
I had mine removed yesterday, I wish I could tell you it will get better, but I would be lying if I did.

Hello, can you tell me how much I went back to solid food today is my 8th day
Why did you decide to get them removed? Was it due to bad breath sore throats swollen lymph nodes?
@@vmr623 My tonsils were huge to the point it would hurt to talk because of the pressure on my vocal cords. Also tonsil stones were playing a role and causing bad breath.
I’m 13 and I’m on day 4 of recovery. Hurts like crazy but definitely worth it👍

I'm getting mine out tomorrow. I'm so nervous I'm nauseous. :(
Hope you have a swift recovery!
I got them out about six hours ago, it's going fine so far.
your lucky mine are so swollen I can't breath I can't eat I can't swallow I can't talk and I've had strep for over 4 times this year and they won't take them out 😠😢😢 it's getting very painful
I used to have a lot of tonsil stones and I would always have sore throats and strep. My mom made an appointment with an Ear/Nose/Throat doctor and he looked at my tonsils and scheduled a surgery right away. It's been a week and it hurts but it's better than always being sick.
would you recommend it?
I had mine out 32yrs ago. My 9yr. Is having hers out this week. Hoping it's just as simple and easier then mine.
glad i can breathe at night now but the recovery was the absolute worst pain i've ever felt. felt like straight up razor blades.
@Dayana Diaz Mine went away in the first week and it actually wasn’t that bad pain wise for me.
I'm getting my out tomorrow at 1st August before my birthday lol. And can anyone give me a advice ?
That's awesome!! I'm actually getting mine out August 8th and I'm pretty happy about it too, this year I've had the worst sore throats and I'm ready to just be done with it! 😄
I removed my tonsils when I was 14
After the surgery it was hard to swallow my saliva..I was feeded only soft food for a month or two..it was hard, took me like half of a year to fully recover from the pain but now I'm 19 and I'm doing just fine.
@@stephweasenforth7891 How are you now?
@@RYMAN1321 as normal as any other person my age, I guess. No real complications from having them removed so many times.
I had my tonsils out best decision I ever made in my life! Thank god I did
Why....
Prevention is better than cure.
How much it costs to remove them ?
This channel helps me a lot understand the medical world. Thank you and continue to upload many videos😊
i got a combo tonsillectomy + adenoidectomy due to chronic sinus infections and strep. my surgeon was phenomenal and had my whole operation done perfectly in 24 minutes. that was over a decade ago and i never have gotten a sinus infection or step once since.
How are you now?
Me and my brother were born with abnormally large tonsils. Mine weren't too huge where it became a problem, but my brother's was. He became malnutritioned since he couldn't swallow, and had to get them removed
I was THISCLOSE to getting mine removed but then my boyfriend recommended I start gargling mouth wash and it helped my recurring tonsillitis. I haven't had it in months and my tonsils aren't inflamed anymore!
My 10th year old sister might need to get her tonsils removed wish her luck💓
15 years old and got my tonsils removed almost a week ago. Already lost 13 pounds and I️ keep waking up in agony and I️ stopped breathing when they gave me the anesthesia so I️ basically almost died in my sleep. I’d much rather have my tonsils and adenoids.
