    Great review, Matthew. How about going thorugh the 30 foot scene? dehler 30 OD, J99, etc.
    Pros/cons. This looks slightly smaller, yet more power. Sounds like a classic Farr approach?
    And glad to see how Farr Yacht Design adressed the keel issue.

    Two things missing in the keel design reporting. Nice to see the detailed explanation of the new design but would love to see the stress/FEA analysis of the design. Also, the same analysis of the failed design. It’s nice to see, in detail, what the new design is, but to gain a better understanding of the original failed design would be helpful.

    The Dehler 30 OD would be the closest similar design. Would love to see these two go head to head.

    Hey it’s upright - the keel is still attached?!

      Farr have addressed the Keel issue. The investigation left experts stumped, so they added redundancy.

      @@NoWheyHombre your comment is in no way accurate, we are still waiting for the full report from the Australian authorities.

      @No Whey Hombre The "investigation" is being done by a biased committee, and hasn't been released.

      @user-ee6wb1ct3n was referring to the internal investigation with some outside experts.

    Pogo 36. For single/double handed fun. Not for racing.

    4 or 5 isn't a full crew, full is 8 or 9. That many open slots is the only thing that allowed a regular person to get out and have a serious but non-professional racing career.

    Anyone else not think that incorrectly worn lifejackets in a promo is a big negative...we all know the history of the X2 so little details mean a lot

    • @otm646
      @otm646 Рік тому

      You know darn well that race crews aren't wearing jackets inshore, even having a jacket on for the promo is a health and safety nod and not reality.
      We're all adults, worry about yourself.

    There is zero point wearing a lifejacket if it isn't fastened. If this is a reflection of the attitude of the project leader then should we be surprised that a boat lost its keel?

      don't se the problem he had it fastened in the sailing footage and was just opened when they was taking / interviewed on the boat. probably just forgotten to close it after they had put a microphone on him

    Why are Planet Sail devoting so much time (2nd video in 2 weeks) to this design which is still under question…..even the builders say they don’t know what actually caused the loss of a keel and still no final report published on the Nexba incident from the Australian authorities - IMO this design should be under a strict worldwide “no sail” order until that report is published. A car design, or an aircraft that had such a huge issue like Nexba had would be kept in the shed until the authorities formally sign off that it wasn’t a design issue and that the keel modification the builders have since made has resolved the design adequately to make it safe and fully dependable.

    This boat almost killed 2, and Farr X2 has yet to disclose the catastrophic keel failure and how it got fixed. It is a shame that PlanetSail provides a propaganda window to an unscrupulous boat builder.

    • @CG-99
      @CG-99 Рік тому

      You are totally correct. Somebody must be paying planet sail a truckload of cash as they try desperately to market their way out of an almighty deep hole. None of these boats should be allowed on the water until the full report from the Australian authorities is published and we see clearly the design / build is signed off as safe.

      It would at least be useful to know if any one or more components failed and how they failed (didn't meet spec / incorrectly installed etc) all they have said is there is now a locking pin. This does not satisfy me. People think the Boeing 737 Max has problems ...... It's time for some transparency
