Who is she? Every now and again I'll check on The breakfast club when I see someone I don't know or haven't heard of before that's probably not in the music industry just to see what's popping what do you know about her
@@melanatedrichconvo7927 A therapist but she is most famous for her instagram posts. No way can break down mental health and trauma the way she does so that is why she is popular on Instagram. I suggest following her!
She has such a calming, therapeutic voice. Listing to this has opened my eyes to parenting. Let's not forget we were once children. Let them babies be babies and do baby things.
My mother always ordered pizza with anchovies, and it was supposed to be a ‘treat’ so saying I don’t like it meant I was being ungrateful. Anchovies are little salted fish canned in olive oil, with bones included, on pizza. Imagine that being the treat for a birthday meal, and being told it’s good as a child? Guess what I still don’t eat? Forcing people to eat things they have tried and don’t like is so strange to me.
Anchovies are the least popular pizza topping so I get it. My dad used to force feed us gross breakfast cereals and I hated drinking the soggy milk after. I would sit at the table all morning. Traumatized... I never forced my kid to eat what he didn't like. It's such a waste of food and time.
Awesome, well needed conversation. It hit home when they were talking about how to interact with our kids. I’ve had to check myself a few times because the same insecurities I had as a kid, I can’t expect my children to somehow have my 40+ year old mind at the age of 12.
Same here, granted my kids are still very young 5 and 2 but I just focus on adding good moments instead of beating myself up for lashing out on them ir getting frustrated.
So glad I found this Charlamagne, I appreciate a lot of the things that you have shared each time I've heard you being interviewed. I have just now found that you have this Podcast. Can't wait to explore more of your episodes. Nedra Tawwab also seems excellent! Wisdom and stories like these are like informational gold. I'm really grateful for these kinds of offerings.
Yeah but at the same time it’s so obvious he didn’t read the book. So he kept asking questions that were off topic. Good questions, but not about what she’s an expert in…
This Book [Set Boundaries, Find Peace] is so practical, I most def keep in my Arsenal 💁🏾♀️🤗💖 (I recommend the Workbook too)‼️ Emotional maturity & wellness is key❣️
I like her, I needed this. And becoming more aware, black parents who are present pls make it a point to be present emotionally as well as physically because what's the point if we grow as adults not knowing how to verbalize what we're feeling.
Many don't understand that you can state what you need at an "intake appointment". It's important to have a therapist that most definitely understands your culture, upbringing etc and not be afraid to call you on your ish. You have to be able to open up and feel comfortable.
Very true. Also, clients sometimes want to just " get it off their chest" so they'll show up for the intake and not return for a follow-up appointment.
The breakdown and types of boundaries is vital. I also admire she linked other topics such as parenting, communication & significance of self expression at a young age.
Im happy I clicked to view this episode, as a Mom of 2 boys 4 & 11yrs old. Both kids are so different and I have taught both of them about boundaries. My 11yr old is pulling away to the pre-teen stage this really helps.
I am a big advocate and supprter for people living their lives the way that they choose to want to. What I do not support is them bringing their confusion, chaos and straight up b.s. into my life in the process. Certain sh*+ you just can't do if you want to be a part of my life and that's all there is to it. If you condone sucka sh*+, you're a sucka, too.
So happy to see my Favorite therapist from IG on here!!! She provides so many helpful posts that just help me every day and not to mention her Book!! Thank you Nedra💗🎆
🧐Taking a closer look at myself so glad my therapist recommended Nedra Tawwab's book to me. I was scanning through trying to figure out who she is and ended up watching this Breakfast Club episode! Happy to know that it is becoming the "norm" in our culture to talk about our Mental Health. Very healthy and engaging even without the veggies! Let's Keep Talking...☺ until then I'm heading to Amazon to order the book!
This was so good. I can take things that I can apply to my relationship, my parenting and for my childhood trauma. Bring her on more. And I will definitely be reading the book and look for more interviews.
They feel free enough to say I dont want to, because one they dont have the proper respect on expressing themselves. And two they tested the parental fences enough to find a weakness that they realized they can push back against the parents " "boundary" wall and they fold. So that means the parents have to have a conversation on respectful boundaries. Because at the end of the day you still are responsible parents and have to set boundaries. Otherwise the children feel they can choose to listen or obey their parents🤷🏾♀️ The cycle that we was raised with hearing because I said so. May not be the route you go as a parent. Just having regular conversations and listening in a way your child needs to be heard.
I agree, I also noticed that if the kid is giving a choice: hey do you want to wear this PJ after shower or that? . that way the kid has a say but they will still get up to take the shower. at least that worked with my 5 year old
Great stuff! I’ll be purchasing this book as a valentine’s day gift for a few ppl. Also - I loved how CTG held up the book at the end and also replaced the two that are usually on the wall behind him. #support 👑
I follow her on Instagram but I purchased the book and I look forward to reading. Her daily tidbits have been so helpful and I encourage everyone with an Instagram to add her to your feed
Boundaries are not about pushing people away all the time. Sometimes we don't let anyone in because of trauma and abuse and other events. People feel like no one can be there for them and then isolate. Boundaries are dangerous when they're too close or too distant.
Bought her book a few weeks ago when Charlamagne recommended it…. life changing. So glad to see this today - Go buy that book.
I wish they will put the link to the book in the bio so we ain't got to go all around the internet searching for it
@@melanatedrichconvo7927 right smh
Healing and boundary setting is the most revolutionary thing Black people can do in these times. Thank you for sharing.

Wow envy you have truly improved on your questions this past year. Kudos to you…. You’ve come a long way
