Fantastic guide, as always. Just finished today (0.7% on steam have the Trotsky acheivement!!). Feels really good when you hit that peace deal with the soviets. On my 6'th or so try I got USA to declare war (had actually given up and was going for south america in that game) - I won the border conflict - had about 15 inf on US border - 21 units in total - deployed the 7 port guards - trained ~20 cav 12 width that moves by US avoiding fights but going for supply hubs as far off as Chicago and Miami. Parked cav on some hubs and the AI didn't even manage to send troops to fight them back. - war ended august 1939 without allied intervention. Happy days!
Nice tuto, i would add that I tried with cavalry to rush USA, and rushed California too because it's a source of manpower for USA. Dont forget to use every troops you can from the countrys you conquered before.
Cavalry is a great way to win the first stages of this strategy, even the civil wars if they happen. (just make sure you create the template after it breaks out). then rush the horsies down to centro and western Us. When you core aztlan you get millions of manpower.
Allright guys, I thought I got good enough to try some of the more difficult achievements without guides, so I've been doing Commie Mexico runs, but it is difficult as hell, so after quite a few runs I went ahead and just checked Bitt3rSteel's vid on it. I followed the guide when I had the idea that the it might be more difficult on the current version of the game so I made it to the version right when Man the Guns came out and taking the USA went as smoothly as it did in the video, so if you're struggling to fight the USA as Mexico, I highly recommend putting the game version back. Not only does the USA not get nearly as many troops, but the old supply system also makes going for encirclements and stuff much easier.
@Cementāriī 🇭🇺 Ironclad. Warning; the ui and menu are from before they reworked them so it can be quite jarring if you started playing after said rework. I know it was for me; I got the game after Battle for Bosporus came out.
Followed your video for the most part and it worked. Had to save scum a little for US to declare war on me. Also I recommend building a whole bunch of cheap cav divisions to help with encirclements and snaking your way into the victory points once America can't fill their front line. You also have a cavalry genius you can hire, and a cavalry general.
@@markselby9352 Alt F4 or close the game with task manager. It will exit the game without saving so you will get the last auto save. Not helpful for going back far, but for doing to get an event to fire or a naval battle that went wrong its helpful. Works for all Paradox games.
Also you don't need to take a Soviet state at the peace conference, you just need to occupy it during the war. So I think it is better to get military access in Germany when you are at war with USSR and make naval landings around Leningrad to get Sunset Invasion achievement.
Aw. Should’ve gone for Party of the Revolution! You can still put Trotsky in power AND you get a sick flag (black with red star in the middle). Still, great video! Was anxiously waiting how you’d handle my favorite country to play as :D
Bitt3rSteel nope! If you wait for Trotsky to come to Mexico, you can put him in power with the left focus tree. You can also still get all of the buffs from the right side of the tree (minus anything from “Communist Revolution” of course).
You do realize that black flag with red star in the middle is from the Steam Workshop mod right, Communist Mexico always gets that shitty Red flag with yellow Central America on globe in it. You downloaded a mod to replace and probably forgot that it existed XD
@@Gun_Metal_Grey no. in the left side, the communist tree gives a black flag with a red star. While on the right side, the communist path gives a picture of mexico in a red background as flags.
Fantastic guide. Had a little RNG issue where the US wouldn't declare war during the Panama border conflict. On the third try they finally did. Also worth noting that you NEED the US navy, you can't get naval range from Guam into the Sea of Japan except with the large US capital ships to launch that naval invasion.
25:16 Hi, I’m not sure you’re correct about the US always declaring war. I lost the conflict for a nonsense reason like you (77, green, and with poor man’s shock Tripp’s. the world event even thought I won) Anyway, after I lost I waited for three months and ended up having to justify on the Americans.
I've been hearing this alot. I ran about 7 test games and every time the US declared war...I must have been very lucky :/ If you don't fancy restarting, you can try and go for nationalising the Oil. That usually gets them. Or manually going for the Philippines
I don'r know what to do, when I attack with my properly geared, well rested and organized infantry, it has like 15 attack each elite division (10 infantry, 4 arty, 1 AT and 1 AA) while the enemy has in excess of 200 power with his 1 row underpowered and obsolete division, I win because of 20 divisions against 2 and it goes not so fast and not very smoothly. Any insight?
What's your opinion on using cavalry for this run? There is a cav genius for the high command, and given that only the first land doctrine was invested there won't be any bonuses leftout for the cavs. It also is very mobile so making the encirclements against the US troops much easier, which is mandatory anyways given how sturdy National Guards type infantries are. The cavs can later be changed to mechanised division whose IC would not be a problem at that point of the game because most of the US's industrial might will be at your hands.
Oh, it will very much be superior. I had tried it a few times in test runs, but settled on INF to show it can be done just as easily, since newer players often don't feel comfortable with different templates etc
Man, you're my super God, most your HOI4 videos are great, because I often manage to win as well. This one though, really tough. Either Trotsky would come much much later, either I have a revolution of some kind in-between, and then I'm slow fighting the US... The fact is: I'm so slow that I have to fight all the allies. I can't find a way to finish the war before September 1939, as you do. Is that a patch thing (now is 1.11.x)? Anyway, you're inspiring!
Any chance you can do a Bevrijding guide? Every time I try I’ll get up to relocating to the indies but then Japan strikes the southern resource area and I’ll be screwed
This was indeed very strange. I got the message that I took the Panama Canal, but the territory did not flip to me. It stayed blue (in the US's hands). The US didn't declare war on me either.
The news event is bugged. It will always say you won, regardless of outcome. How the US reacts is RNG sadly. I have nevr had them not declare war on me, but apparently other people have very different results. Sorry :/
Unlike alot of others here in the comments lately, I managed to do everything like in the guide, but what kills it is simply that getting behind enemy lines is not viable anymore with the supply update. If you do not keep a constant line of supplies your units just wont move and you cant capture the victory points. I have done 12 tries this weekend with different strategies and I only just reach the east coast before amarica is up and running or they join the allies and get british/french soldiers to the front line. I hope you make an update soon because I really love this strategy.
Same here, the americans join allies and bye-bye they don't launch any naval invasion and I go far as LA and Dallas, try to capture their supply points this helps a lot.
I just did this yeasturday with the lates DLC's. Defeating USA is even faster now. You just need to be constantly be aware where the supply depots are. Make sure your units are supplied, and theirs' are not. And I allowed them to do naval invasions. That way I could easily encircle their troops faster.
@@janneaaltonen3338 Yes the supply depot capture is essential but your invasion must be timely planned if you delay the usa join allies and is bye-bye, I take half usa before they enter in allies but after the goddamn brits are naval invasion all my ports 😞
@@fernandopenatti7089 When did you invade? I could have been lucky. They have never joined allies in my games as Mexico. But as I read the comment's here, apparently they can do that... I usually do the invasion to US somewhere in October 1938, And it's usually over by April /May 1939.
You actually don’t need a lot of warscore in the Soviet peace deal, I had about 10, and the Germans don’t usually puppet, and I grabbed Bessarabia, which counted as a coastal European province
At 12:30 you mention how exercising your troops has wrecked their equipment. You had their fallback line across a mountain range which has a +40% attrition debuff. Train them on the plains on the east side of the US/Mexico border for no debuff. Great video by the way!
Whenever I poke at this attempt Trotsky takes his sweet time (18 months past the time your run shows) and next thing I know it's late 39 early 40 and there's no way I'll be able to go after the US.

Is there a mod to change the Mexican flags for better ones? or and also if they know a mod to improve the three types of doctrines.
Iceland counts as EU costal province btw so even quicker way to do sunrise invasion is just to naval invade Iceland from mainland mexico
I wasn't sure about that, since the description specifically mentions a province on the continent. Thanks for the tip!
On my 6'th or so try I got USA to declare war (had actually given up and was going for south america in that game)
- I won the border conflict
- had about 15 inf on US border
- 21 units in total
- deployed the 7 port guards
- trained ~20 cav 12 width that moves by US avoiding fights but going for supply hubs as far off as Chicago and Miami.
Thank you for the good stuff
Followed your video for the most part and it worked. Had to save scum a little for US to declare war on me. Also I recommend building a whole bunch of cheap cav divisions to help with encirclements and snaking your way into the victory points once America can't fill their front line. You also have a cavalry genius you can hire, and a cavalry general.
How do you save scum with Ironman?
@@markselby9352 Alt F4 or close the game with task manager. It will exit the game without saving so you will get the last auto save. Not helpful for going back far, but for doing to get an event to fire or a naval battle that went wrong its helpful. Works for all Paradox games.
Also you don't need to take a Soviet state at the peace conference, you just need to occupy it during the war. So I think it is better to get military access in Germany when you are at war with USSR and make naval landings around Leningrad to get Sunset Invasion achievement.
Great content, have yourself a new sub!
Great video as always, but I'd also like to just say how refreshing it is to see a HOI4 youtuber who can actually pronounce names correctly lol
Mexico: "We run the risk of three mutually exclusive civil wars..."
Me: Laughs in Spanish fourway
Mexico número uno 🇲🇽🇲🇽
New video pog
Aw. Should’ve gone for Party of the Revolution! You can still put Trotsky in power AND you get a sick flag (black with red star in the middle). Still, great video! Was anxiously waiting how you’d handle my favorite country to play as :D
Interesting, I always assumed Trotsky came only from the right branch of the tree
Its however mutually exclusive with the right branch. It will lock you out of going for all those juicy National Spirits.
While on the right side, the communist path gives a picture of mexico in a red background as flags.
this was a great guide not gonna lie
Fantastic guide. Had a little RNG issue where the US wouldn't declare war during the Panama border conflict. On the third try they finally did. Also worth noting that you NEED the US navy, you can't get naval range from Guam into the Sea of Japan except with the large US capital ships to launch that naval invasion.
You can, with Sub spam. And you have the time needed to get those by the time you are ready for war.
But having the US navy is so much easier
Nice guide. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@Bitt3rSteel but even with the guide it doesn’t work for me :( probably need to lower the version.
thank you. I got to New Orleans and then USA switched to partial and started spamming troops haha
ill try again another time good guide tho
Napoleon done, this one is next. Would love to See restoring the Holy Roman empire
Cheak all video
Fun fact, I have a video on that!
@@Bitt3rSteel hmmmm, some investigation is needed here.
You're the first competent mexican president in Mexico history
Mexican history is wild
25:16 Hi, I’m not sure you’re correct about the US always declaring war. I lost the conflict for a nonsense reason like you (77, green, and with poor man’s shock Tripp’s. the world event even thought I won) Anyway, after I lost I waited for three months and ended up having to justify on the Americans.
I've been hearing this alot. I ran about 7 test games and every time the US declared war...I must have been very lucky :/
If you don't fancy restarting, you can try and go for nationalising the Oil. That usually gets them. Or manually going for the Philippines
I just had a similar issue except I won the conflict but when I justified on them big boi uk and all their friends came to the party
I got a civil war with the mexican junta, followed all your steps basically :P
I don'r know what to do, when I attack with my properly geared, well rested and organized infantry, it has like 15 attack each elite division (10 infantry, 4 arty, 1 AT and 1 AA) while the enemy has in excess of 200 power with his 1 row underpowered and obsolete division, I win because of 20 divisions against 2 and it goes not so fast and not very smoothly.
Any insight?
you are attacking in the mountains
Moreee, Moreeee... GIVE ME MORREEEEEEEE!!!!!
was a nice video to watch; now i'd like to see you Crush the Dream
Thx for your opinion.
great vid! just managed to beat usa with it!
These achievements would be quite different with "No Step Back" can you do these under the new DLC?
please revisit this playtrough, im having hard time doing this achievment on nsb patch 😵💫
Agreed nsb changed everything
Can you revisit this guide on the latest DLC
0:43 Can you pause more often so the viewer can read the pop up screens?
Idk if it’s just me but I feel like a couple cav units would definitely help against the USA
Oh, for sure. I just tried to keep it simple since the US can be a challenge for newer players
When Mexico is a much more fun to play than a major Axis power. *cough*Italy*cough*
nah, just naval invade Paris in 1936
Man, you're my super God, most your HOI4 videos are great, because I often manage to win as well. Anyway, you're inspiring!
i swar i didn*t saw that music coming :D
Im curious as to why you didnt use cavalry during the Mexican American war. Wouldnt the mobility have ended the war quicker
Probably, but I try and keep it simple for beginners (unless I want to do whacky stuff, like tanks!)
Great Vid bro! Looking forward to more! 😁
Btw which DLC do u use for Mexico to get a cistom focus tree?
the dlc is Man the Guns
Ah thanks!
Ohh boy here we go
Maybe that's stupid... but a would a few "speedy" cav-brigades for encircling and victorypoint-rushing be useful?
Any chance you can do a Bevrijding guide? Every time I try I’ll get up to relocating to the indies but then Japan strikes the southern resource area and I’ll be screwed
Good video also early
In my game, I've take panama canal via border attack, and USA doesn't start war on me, pretty sad
same for me as fascist mexico with calles :(
This was indeed very strange. I got the message that I took the Panama Canal, but the territory did not flip to me. It stayed blue (in the US's hands). The US didn't declare war on me either.
@@MrDockx i want to know if the decision to attack if when you pick "operation just cause" decision or when you pick the focus.
Mistakes were made
Ironic that El Paso was one of the last regions in Texas to fall, given that it has the strongest ties to Mexico
The US just didn’t declare war on me for some reason so I had to justify but that called in the uk so I died
I love how Japan started justifying on me for Baja California, Cali and Arizona only moments of me landing in the USSR... thanks Paradox
Thanks
Whenever I poke at this attempt Trotsky takes his sweet time (18 months past the time your run shows) and next thing I know it's late 39 early 40 and there's no way I'll be able to go after the US.
