I haven't found anything actually very good at explaing the navy. Mordred Viking does a good job of explaining it, but its hard to sit through a live stream. I'm really tempted to make a tutorial, it's super fun once you figure it out. But the AI is even more trash with the Navy then it is on land. So its actually easy to beat them. No death stacks. It hurts organization in battle and is INCREDIBLY INEFFICIENT. Use spotters (destroyers and light cruisers with spotting planes) to patrol. Set up capital ships with admirals. A strike fleet for the U.S. at the start would be 2 carriers, 5 battleships, 4 light cruisers, and 20 destroyers- the U.S. lacks light cruisers- you should build more. Ideally you'd want 10 light cruisers. Use Clemson destroyers for convoy escort, and Farragut class for strike fleets. And build better destroyers because those are terrible. Also, the AI never builds capital ships in any quantity- and usually doesnt build any if they do, they're terrible. Written out this may look complicated but it's easier than land combat. Its way more automated, you dont have to micro ships. Click the zones you want patrolled and forget about it.
Also, if you're playing U.K. or Japan, you have battlecruisers. Which are nice because they are fast. Alot fasters than battleships. Put those in a separate strike fleet with the best carriers. They get there before the main battlefleet shows up and if they dont just destroy whatever it is outright, the battleships will. Even if the battlecruisers are loosing, they should be able to do enough damage that the main strike fleet should be able to finish off- whatever. At least whatever the AI will throw at you.

As I understand it, your war participation determines how many points you start with, which means you can make larger demands before other participants get their turn. To be absolutely positive you get what you want, you need to start the war as the sole participant on your side and not call in any allies. That's not foolproof though if your enemy calls in allies who are themselves at war with a third party or one of your allies.

Great guide BT. I'm doing a similar run, but I prefer the democratic-commie-democratic exploit that gives you the 'shatter the empires' focus and the join the unions with the USSR pretty much for free. USA is one of my favorite nation to play.
Another tip for Navy- to streamline production at the start of the game for a country like the U.S. or U.K. organize the ships based on completion date. Earlier ones on top. Then put on all extra dockyards to the first ship. Once it completes all those dockyards go to the next in line making it finish quicker. This way the dockyards stack quicker to finish the big ships sooner. And make sure you have the number of ships set to 1. That way you wont waste production building crappy subs for example. The Soviet Union is the worst with this.
To give you idea of how well this works, I believe those carriers can finish in 1936 by going this way- along with all other ships in production at the start. It certainly takes months if not years off.
For those of you who are curious about what naval comp you should use, I use four carriers, four battleships, and 32 light cruisers. I got this from a steam guide, and as the UK, I destroyed the ai Japanese navy with only one tech researched in the naval carrier doctrine

Here's an interesting challenge idea: Play as Bulgaria in 1936 and control every single province in the world (World Conquest). 1. You have to be fascist by the end of the campaign, but you can start as any ideology you want. 2. You can integrate/destroy whatever factions you want. 3. Go down any branch of the focus tree you want. Idk why but I think this would be a cool challenge to see you undertake with how versatile and interesting the new Bulgaria focus tree is.
Challenge: True Switzerlake (Own every noncoastal province) hard mode is no puppets. Easier challenge: As Chilie (or Croatia) own every coastal province while not holding any non coastal provinces (no puppets)
BTW there is an exploit where you just name any divison template "Silver Legion" and when you press the "raise the silver legion" 6 division of any template that is name "Silver Legion" Will spawn. And before the civil war ends rename then to anything. You will keep the division. I tried this with medium tank and oh boy was it fun.
It gets even better: after the six divisions spawn, rename the "Silver Legion" template to anything else, duplicate it, and name the new template "Silver Legion". After a while (like a month or something?), you'll be able to "Raise the Silver Legion" again. If it doesn't work, rename the six divisions to something that doesn't include "Silver Legion" in the name. I did this (just in case the game recognised I still had six divisions with the name "Silver Legion") and it worked, so I can't tell you for sure if it will work even if you don't rename your divisions. Keep doing it a few times, and your army will just keep growing. Got myself some nice 24 Light Tanks divisions and 12 Medium Tanks divisions that way, and that's because it took me a while to realise I could do it. The only problem is that, when the war ended, I had like 2000 deficit in Light Tanks, Medium Tanks and Motorized, but that's mostly because I'm an idiot.
I agree that the US navy is more than capable as is but I always like to make a ton subs and also a large number of light cruisers with a very good spotting and then distribute those among my fleets. Without a decent spotting, your fleets are mostly useless and light cruisers are best when it comes to spotting.
Ouch, that hurts. But if you organize it correctly (assuming you retain 1/3- thats still 5 battleships), I bet you can still beat the AI. Its incredible how incompetent they be. Plus, you only have to damage the bigs ships enough to get them to repair. Subs and spotters should do the rest. I'll test this out after I get off work and see I can do it.
Well, you dont get the canal. I managed to naval invade it. But nothing has the range to get to west coast to actually get you the naval supremacy. I guess you could research cruiser subs and go that route. So its possible... You do get about 1/3 of the ships- and ALL of the best admirals. Which helps massively.
Nice! I wondered why Emperor Hirohito keeps declaring on me after I flip brown party. I guess I just need to cut the Phillippines loose after the war. Works for me, as long as I remember to do it after choosing the president following the war. My last run I puppetted them as part of the peace deal with the Constitutionalists, before the Silver Legion officially took power, so they were non-aligned. Anyway, I prefer not to lobby Congress unless I absolutely need the votes to pick up a focus. Often enough the random events keep my approval high, so I can use the PP for other things. Okay, here's a challenge. It's one I've been working on, but haven't been able to achieve yet: Obtain the New World Order achievement. Rules: You may play as any European country, plus Canada, the US, South Africa, Australia, or New Zealand, but you may not declare war on any other country on the list. The exception would be a civil war to flip brown party, or if the target country is run by the red party. (The only one that fits, as I recall, was already planning on breaking its non-aggression pact to begin with, and was hell-bent on turning the whole world red anyway.) Any other country is completely fair game.
I did this run exactly this way and HOI4 screwed me so hard!!! Basically all I had was the Deep South and was super surrounded. I ended up making a big gamble and dug in, made a small tank force, invaded Mexico, and flanked the West Coast. Didn't do it before the Allies got involved but ended up with basically the entire western hemisphere and Central Asia in the end.
How about a Quick Czeckmate video that might (or might not) be paired with the Munich disagreement ? Or somme quick "Rule Brittania" ? (As Canada I suppose ?)

I was doing this but when I was invading the UK Germany had spanish volunteers and they took London without my permission and that messed up that peace conference
This seems much more complicated than necessary imo. There's a little-known decision where you can annex the USSR for free as the USA. They need to be at 80% towards capitulation to do this, and you must be in the Comintern. So all you need to do to get this achievement is go Communist and join the Commintern, aid Germany to make sure they beat the Soviets (don't join the USSR's war against Germany), then annex the USSR at the last minute, and powerstomp Britain with Germany's help.
Bitter. Help! I am playing as USA. Got the Arsenal of D achievement and assumed leader of Allies. It is 1945 and Britain is basically trapped in England but supposedly have over 200 divisions. I can't get them to send me any forces, even after I sent them over fifty divisions. What gives?
If I'm at about 15% WP and only London is left, do I just convoy raid and strike force my navy around Britain to build up more WP or do I send my armies elsewhere to capitulate the other allies? I took London at 18% and of course Italy took Georgia as its first demand.
Well, these videos are older and I've had a change in attitude since. My philosophy used to be: just use 7/2, it sucks but beats the AI and it's easy for ppl to follow. Now I want to show people a better way moving forward, because I see so many people struggling because they can't micro or they can't just battleplan the enemy to death.
@@Bitt3rSteel I'd like to try this for my next game with your new advice, so for my CW army can I do a mix of 20w Inf + support art and 14/4s to avoid the pitfalls of using all 7/2?
I'm in 1945, trying to switch back to Democratic for the Arsenal of Democracy achievement. I have the advisor, and am sitting at around 70% Democratic support. No referendum popup and there are no change ideology decisions available (civil support, discredit gov., etc.). Is this a bug, bad rng, or can you not switch back to democracy at this point?
Sorry for the double-dip, but I just realized why you lost the Philippines following your civil war, but I didn't. In the early game before the war, I kept an eye on the islands. Every time they finished training a division I requested it and dropped it into an army, but didn't move it to the mainland. My plan was to ship them to the US to use against the Constitutionalists, but I forgot to do so before the Boston Rebellion. As a result, they were exiled on the Philippines until the Constitutionalists called them in as an ally. When that happened, I took my army of natives and started occupying cities and ports there, since my Freikorps troops already had the main theater well in hand by that point. The combat activity in the Philippines drew the country into the peace conference to be annexed (preferable, so they can be flipped brown for NWO,) puppeted, or liberated.

So I’m not sure if it changed recently but the Arsenal of Democracy achievement actually requires you to play as democratic USA in order to get it but everything else was well done
Yeah, I don't know how I missed that...I'm a bit embarrassed about that
Here's a challenge, use the grand battleplan doctrine. Jk can you play as Canada please?
Here's an interesting challenge idea:
Play as Bulgaria in 1936 and control every single province in the world (World Conquest).
Easier challenge: As Chilie (or Croatia) own every coastal province while not holding any non coastal provinces (no puppets)
do you mean state or province because i think that you can only control single provinces if you're in war
@@vrabb9030 He means state
>not nuking the french at every opportunity
BTW there is an exploit where you just name any divison template "Silver Legion" and when you press the "raise the silver legion" 6 division of any template that is name "Silver Legion" Will spawn. And before the civil war ends rename then to anything. You will keep the division. I tried this with medium tank and oh boy was it fun.
I think it's patched now.
This also worked in the German civil war but it was patched
@@Mr.khan_41 No, I still can't do it
It gets even better: after the six divisions spawn, rename the "Silver Legion" template to anything else, duplicate it, and name the new template "Silver Legion".
I did it with a 12 heavy tanks/8 motorized tank division. It was a surprisingly easy civil war.
I agree that the US navy is more than capable as is but I always like to make a ton subs and also a large number of light cruisers with a very good spotting and then distribute those among my fleets. Without a decent spotting, your fleets are mostly useless and light cruisers are best when it comes to spotting.
I wonder if you could just naval invade L.A. from the panama Canal? Who keeps the Panama Canal in the civil war? I might have to play this out to see.
The constitutionalists take the ENTIRE american navy.. so yeah you cant.
Nah, you keep about 1/3 of the navy, army and airforce
Thanks for your videos man! Can you make the bear achievement with Poland?
Um why would you do lobbying Effort if there is going to be elections in November and its going to be "
reset"
28:36 greetings from Emden :)
Nice video mate, next, do finish him if you have balls :D
I did, a while ago
I did this run exactly this way and HOI4 screwed me so hard!!! Basically all I had was the Deep South and was super surrounded. I ended up making a big gamble and dug in, made a small tank force, invaded Mexico, and flanked the West Coast. Didn't do it before the Allies got involved but ended up with basically the entire western hemisphere and Central Asia in the end.
How about a Quick Czeckmate video that might (or might not) be paired with the Munich disagreement ?
Or somme quick "Rule Brittania" ? (As Canada I suppose ?)
The entire area is just a nightmare atm with all the interlocking guarantees. I've been thinking about a good strat for a while
@@Bitt3rSteel At the moment I'm trying a quick civil War/paratrooper invade the Netherlands and then Australia through the East Indies but it's quite tricky... I'll let you know if I find some good strat !
Can you delete units like 9ther civil wars or lend lease equipment before the war kicks odd and cancel?
Can you do this again but in hoi4 mp game with mondern weapons tanks/vehicle’s with artillery jets etc
11:00 whats the song name
It seems that the last achievement can't be reached using the method mentioned :< (it might be patched now??)
What was that southern voice he made dear lord someone get a priest
Georgia is also in the mind of the Republican and Democratic Party in these days.
@24.00 soundtrack ?
Ya but he was going for 3 achievements in 1 game...
I know, and it's extremely cheesy and I expect it to be gone whenever the rework the USSR
ive always just said fucking with the 2nd american civil war and just micro'd the entire thing without any fancy cheese
Italy took south Georgia before my first turn
Mussolini is a dick
Yes he is
Think you could get to every country to be Democratic starting out as Germany with historical focuses on (optionally Elite)?
What is the song name during 24:30-ish?
@@НиколаМаринов-ф3т Thanks!
Bitter. Help! I am playing as USA. Got the Arsenal of D achievement and assumed leader of Allies. It is 1945 and Britain is basically trapped in England but supposedly have over 200 divisions. I can't get them to send me any forces, even after I sent them over fifty divisions. What gives?
You can flip without civil war so did you just do it for the achievement or is this somehow better
Challenge: As Austria capitulate Australia.
Additional Challenge: Do the reverse
Literally inpossible because of timing. You cannot justufy fast enough.
@@bltsevdallarfanclub641 What if Germany does oppose Hitler?
Kinda wished ya didn't do historical for once. Would've been funny if ya actually got Adam Hilt in charge.
The best state song
If I'm at about 15% WP and only London is left, do I just convoy raid and strike force my navy around Britain to build up more WP or do I send my armies elsewhere to capitulate the other allies? I took London at 18% and of course Italy took Georgia as its first demand.
There's no planning for AI stupidity, so I'd say fight the war elsewhere to get %.
Go full CSA

I messaged Bitt3r on Discord about this challenge but he changed it from the Union acheivment to the Confederate one
At least he got the Brits off your back
Why’d you do 7/2s if you said they were so shit last video? Wouldn’t making 20 widths with support arty be better?
Well, these videos are older and I've had a change in attitude since. My philosophy used to be: just use 7/2, it sucks but beats the AI and it's easy for ppl to follow.
Now I want to show people a better way moving forward, because I see so many people struggling because they can't micro or they can't just battleplan the enemy to death.
Yeah I just realized this is older. I also used to use 7/2 until I saw your video lol, and my game has improved a lot
@@Bitt3rSteel I'd like to try this for my next game with your new advice, so for my CW army can I do a mix of 20w Inf + support art and 14/4s to avoid the pitfalls of using all 7/2?

LMAO THAT TEXIAN ACCENT 3:43 XDDDDDDDD
I'm in 1945, trying to switch back to Democratic for the Arsenal of Democracy achievement. I have the advisor, and am sitting at around 70% Democratic support. No referendum popup and there are no change ideology decisions available (civil support, discredit gov., etc.). Is this a bug, bad rng, or can you not switch back to democracy at this point?
I messed up, sadly. You apparently cannot switch back to democracy. I'm so sorry
@@Bitt3rSteel No problem, thanks for clarifying! I'll just nab it on my next USA run. Thanks for your channel - best HOI4 content by far!
What DLCs did you have equipped?
All of them!
Does anyone know why the CSA changed it´s name? I mean everything is better than the Confederacy. But .. why?
It's a bug. When you are the CSA and you core Hawaii, Alaska or Puerto Rico via decision, you flip to the Free American Empire
