Is that a fair price??
I *really* have to restore my 1970 GTO Convertible. Had it since I was 18
4 speed, Hood Tach, A/C car..
This one is exactly like the one “Kevin Pickford” drives in the 1993 movie “Dazed And Confused”.
I remember those cars. But THIS one is the absolute best; so much better than what came from the dealer.
but auto :(
Remember seeing this and all other muscle cars just driving down the street when I was a kid. Jeez, I'm old.
So true William!
Me too. I grew up in a college town.
Me too..... and it's a case of "Yes and No!" We saw and even owned GTOs, some hard top and some convertibles. But we didn't see this car. Today you can find a great "70 GTO Hard top or Convertable for barely more than the average price of a new car. This car, on the other hand, is fetching the price tag it got here because you never saw it back in the day. Most all of these super big price tag auction results are examples of cars that look like the more pedestrian models we saw in traffic every day in the 1970s......but if you think back......how many Muscle cars that sell for 7 figures today did we actually see in traffic? I remember a bunch of GTOs, Camaros, Cudas and Corvettes many were Soft top.......yet I'm pretty sure none of those GTOs were Ram Air 4 cars, the Corvettes weren't L88 or ZL1 variants and the Cuda Rag tops weren't Hemi cars. Most of the cars that received these special engines were almost always hard tops and usually they headed straight to race tracks where many got abused to point of total failure. Rag tops with these motors are as rare as hen's teeth and in that you find where the crazy high price tags come from.
@@stevejewell9263 So true Steve.
About time a Pontiac hits a million dollar way overdue
Great result
Congratulations, That's a dream on 4 wheels.
Wont see that ride trying to get out of a snow bank in Minnesota.. Bought my first car in 1977, a '68 GTO 3 speed manual in very good condition for $800.. Geez i miss the old days.
I saw this car in person and did not know it was that expensive WOW
My favorite Judge
WOW.........SOLD............. time to do donuts out in the parking lot with this Goat
i know a guy that has a 70 Ram Air IV, black with sandalwood, auto. All original with 22k on it. Amazing car. Can't believe how the paint looks like it is 3 years old but its 53 years young.
There is one really happy seller out there.
That makes me miss my '71 T-37. May not be the big money car, but it still looked the part. I always loved the Pontiac fender lines, grills and headlights.
My dream car!!!
G, almost went to inquire & purchase a '70 model. It sat for awhile. Beautil blue GTO hardtop. The Judge package was done in, you can't miss it's ok to be loud, hot hot passionate PINK !!
Only one I saw, ever..
Fast-Forward > a millon bucks. NOW IMPRESS ME!
Mopar"s Been Hittin 4 - 5 Million For Year"s, FINALLY 1 Car Of Big 4 Hit"s A Million !!!!
THIS Pontiac was expensive when ordered in 69/70. BEING a convertible and a Ram Air 4 engine, and a Judge car.
If the Top goes Down, The Price goes UP!
In this case, way up...
Pontiac! Says it all!!!
A great car... but a better guy..congrats chuck
All rise!
It's kind of crazy but I remember a local family that was really into hot cars back in the late 70's & 80's. This friend of mines sister had a red 70 GTO convertible with 4 speed and I remember they took a 1500 mile or so trip to go buy this GTO. Back then where I live only had 20K or so people and this car was one of the hottest cars in town at the time. Anyhow I don't remember the exact price they paid for the GTO back then but it wasn't really crazy money or anything. Wow now these cars really bring the money!
It’s only a dream It’s only a dream
It’s only a dream It’s only a dream
It’s only a dream…
No dream it went for a million, i know, i took off my shoes and my friend took off his shoes and we found we still can't count that high.
Awsome 👍
I guess it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it. It's all subjective but it's a beautiful car. A third pedal and an M-22 would have made it 100% IMO. That orbit orange looks a lot better on that body than on a school bus or Caterpillar 😀
Yes a 4 speed manual would be the icing on top!
I believe the record price prior to this was $625,000 for a black one formerly owned by Steve Ames.
Yes you're correct it was starlight
But boy the orbit orange is such a coveted one year only color
😍Nice!!!!!!!!!!!!👍
Can't believe this went that much more than a 1970 superbird hemi
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! MUSCLE CARS ARE HOT!!! JUST LIKE IN 1983!!!!
Like in the mid 60's.
Prrrrickford!
dang I saw one in an overgrown field today wonder how many offers whoever owns it has gotten
I have one in my garage I've been working on for two years but it's a clone but she's got the look here name is Gracie
Just because you have tons of cash, doesn't mean you're intelligent.
ما اسم هذا الذي يرتدي جاكيت احمر وهل هو من العراق
I could have sworn the announcer said a Ram Air Ford GTO before i realized it was a "Ram Air IV".
You could build 5 or 6 clones for that much🥸
A clone is not the real deal. Big difference dude. Clones aren't worth much.
Clones do not come with bragging rights.
@@audieconrad8995 Who cares anymore
@Bryan well...someone willing to shell out a cool $1 mill...
@@audieconrad8995 I had a better car 1969 dodge charger RT 440 Magnum
These kind of prices suck for the average guy
The average guy couldn't afford to do a basic restoration on one of thease cars. The paint job on that car must have cost over $10,000.00.
Welp...its why the average guy doesn't go to Mecum or Barrett
Don't think my 70 GTO convertible would sell that high. 400 with Ram 3 heads on.
Everytime I watch these I wonder when one of the auction dude will stroke out live on camera since they are all huge.
It's an automatic , come on people , taking a bath is what rich people do on these cars ......
Wow. That’s a lot of cash !!!!
This sucks the working mans pride and joy of yesterday now only affordable to the Uber rich boo
Very true
$1.000.000 sold to me 👍😉❤️
Back then that car sold brand new for 3 thousand dollars....just think about that for a bit 🤔....
You got me curious, so I looked up the original prices from 1970. The 70 gto convertible was $3492. Adding "The Judge" package was $337. And the Ram Air IV engine was an extra $558. So, it was actually more like about $4387. Of course, you probably could have negotiated it down a little bit at that time.
Millionaires in a pissing battle congrats to seller have another cocktail !
It's sad..you could have gotten that gto judge. For only 4 thousand dollars..
💫💫💫💫
😢
400 dollar car in 1975
Pay a million dollars for a car you'll never drive. Whatever.
Not a 20 or 30 year old in sight
How many 20-30 year olds can afford a million-dollar car that would have sold for $100K 10 years ago?
Insanity.
It's funny watching these people paid 3 or 4 times what something is worth
Extremely rare. Those body line decals are just hairy butt ugly! Maybe that's why it's so rare. RA IV convertible Judge with a decal delete would be more rare. I'd want that one. A marketing fail from a TV show to sell the top-line muscle car? Hated it then and still hate it. $1M? Good for you. Money to burn.
I like how you are sharing your VERY unpopular opinion as if anyone else would agree with you. GM A body cars are some of the most desirable american collector cars.
I agree the king of ugly when I was a kid . $1,000,000.00 for a Pontiac what a joke.
