I saw about 8 months ago a guy driving one of these going over the Brooklyn Bridge. I was able to get next to him and said, I cannot believe you are driving this thing around!!! He told me, hey, what's the point of having it, if you can't show it off on occasion! Much respect to that guy, and that sentiment !
There was only 2 of these sold in North America, this is one of them, the other one is in a car museum. It was definitely a clone. I've seen many very nice hemi cuda clones through the years, I actually own one myself. They are nearly identical to this car, just not real hemi cars from the factory. No big deal, they're still awesome and still very valuable. I couldn't imagine driving a $3.5 million car, but my $95k clone? Yup, she's getting driven all summer long.

I'm happy for the guy that bought it, he is very lucky. This blows the doors off all the hotshots who think they're soooo cool driving around in their Porches, Lambos, and BMW's
Likely many of these were driven in rust belt winters and succumbed to structural damage. Leaf springs popping through the trunk floor, torsion bar mounts breaking off and letting the front end crash to the bump stops. Chrysler cars of that era rusted very quickly.
You're buying a memory here. This is a car that belongs in a museum as an icon of a decadent era, where working men (most of the guys who bought these were just working dudes) went to the drag strip on the weekend, or tore up the main street of their home town in stoplight races. These days the working man can't afford the new muscle cars, and they can't afford to lose their car, license and insurance for drag racing. Truly a time gone forever, and that car is a little piece of the great memories of a carefree time. BTW, as the 60s and 70s generation grows older and since the new muscle cars eclipse their ancestors, you can expect the value of these to actually drop over the next few decades. Newer generations don't have the same fondness for them that the older generation does.
Roadghost88 nah the younger generations do like these, there’s Defo a lot of young lads love McQueens Mustang, and the 68-70 Dodge Chargers look loads better than the modern ones.
With 3.5 million dollars you could probably fully restore 10 Barracudas. What a fucking waste of money, and I bet they just bought it as an investment too. If I had the money I would always restore anything I was looking for instead of buying a clean example. One more piece of history saved from the scrapper/elements.
Not really, he wanted to go fast cash. These cars can go for much more on the internet, then you get international bidders, that thing would go for over 10 mil.
Well, I was about to spew shit about muscle cars being over the hill, but apparently another 4sp Hemi 'Cuda ordered new by a Frenchman got up to 4.8 mil but the buyer wanted 6. -_- These old 13 second cars are not worth this money for performance by a long shot. They have looks and if you grew up with old V8s then they have sound, but I get the feeling that these billionaires are only chasing clout. Another trading card to add to their deck. For 3.5 million dollars, you could buy multiple cars, make all of them cooler, AND build a shelter for them.

Hello Richard, how are you doing. I hope you are safe and in good health. Looking for a new friend and i saw your pic here. I hope you don't mind thank you.
I grew up with these cars on the road. The Cuda was one of the most popular cars with Mopar torque under the hood. Duster 340, Road Runner, Charger, Challenger and Cuda made Dodge and Plymouth the car to have...
I saw a sign out front of the residence of a guy I was buying a car from that said "You can't buy happiness, but you can buy a Corvette, and that's basically the same thing." I died laughing. @Sabrina Dugan no one cares
Ray Perez wast of money just like you bum
Imagine how the guys that had one back in the day feel when the car they beat to crap and sold for 500$ sells for this amount all these years later
This particular is one of 11 made only 2 sold in the 🇺🇸

Likely many of these were driven in rust belt winters and succumbed to structural damage. Leaf springs popping through the trunk floor, torsion bar mounts breaking off and letting the front end crash to the bump stops. Chrysler cars of that era rusted very quickly.
@@carynunez3155 still not worth that kind of money...ridiculous...some people have more money than brains apparently.
1 of 11. Only 2 examples in the USA. The rarest of the rare. It's probably the most iconic representations of that Era of American muscle cars.
Correction:
Buying history.
A big piece of technological history.
Only a certain few of the younger generation appreciate these.
After reading this I went out bought a project 64.5 project mustang that I've been contemplating the last few months, thanks.
People today still love cars from the begining of time to collect im sure this car will hold its value!!
“What’s another couple hundred thousand when your already in it for 3,000,000” a shitload of money still lol
I will give you $3600 💰 cash when I get paid on Friday
Lol
that's what I gave for a new small block cuda in 1974..
9:02 that's the face of a true Mopar guy, poor guy was devastated to sell his pride and joy even after 3.5 million dollars
It’s only money. I would never sell that car.
He's laughing 😂 all the way to the BANK!
What’s he doing at the auction if he’s not wanting to sell it. All the bullshitting around with the reserve is stupid.
Imagine that driver denting the car on the way out of the auction room
With 3.5 million dollars you could probably fully restore 10 Barracudas. What a fucking waste of money, and I bet they just bought it as an investment too.
If I had the money I would always restore anything I was looking for instead of buying a clean example. One more piece of history saved from the scrapper/elements.
Incredible piece of American automotive history
But not for 3.5 million
This is why these auctions drive the cost up on everything. Then when you look at a car for sale some schmuck thinks his is worth 10 times its value.
try 100x the value of this car lol
The car is worth 30k in today's dollars
Its like trying to buy a toyota 4x4 or a jeep lol.
Not really, he wanted to go fast cash. These cars can go for much more on the internet, then you get international bidders, that thing would go for over 10 mil.
Shoo, my generation thinks that their Honda Civic is worth at least $2250
I'm watching this six years later. I wonder how much that CUDA is worth today.?
I think the world economy tanked a little bit during this past year year and a half
It could be worth possibly 10 to 20% more. EASILY 4 million possibly 5. Only 2 were made with the 4 spd. manual HURST.
@@possiblycrazy442 Totally agree. I call it "STUPID MONEY."
I like this cuda "71 model , but 3.5 million , WTF...
The '71 Cuda grille is absolutely awesome!
Por que cuesta tanto??? Que tiene ???
@@josezunigasilva7579 solo se fabricaron 11 de ellos y solo dos existen en los Estados Unidos.
The 1970 cuda was much better looking, shouldn't have tried to copy the challenger dual headlights!
We used to go to NY State drinking when we were 16. Yeah I know, in the little town of Ripley Any there was a Plymouth dealership that somehow managed to get 3 or 4 Plymouth Superbirds for sale new. I never did stop and look but those things sat on that lot for a couple years before they finally sold them. Why wasn't I paying attention.

now add on another 18% for this scams in house auction fee.
anyone having $3.5 mill to spend on this, has many more millions to spend on other things.
no shit
There are 2 of these in San Diego on Universal Drive at a Specialty Auto Dealership. Both in great condition. 150K. 3 million is a joke.
They weren’t this one, only made 11 of these
The only year it had 4 headlights.
1 of 11? Suprised Jay Leno did'nt buy it!
Only one left with documentation 1 of 2 left the other isn't number matching
When I was 19 I had a 71 barracuda! I loved that car. Who would have ever known what they would be worth today.
Ya the car we had in the 60s and 70s as teens and 20s yrs olds if we had only would have had crystal ball. Didn't had the crystal ball but did have lot's of fun and good times . wouldn't trade that part of my life for what the same age group had in the 80s 90s or 2000s but I do love my new hell cat no more 150+ on the street now day .I go to the track more fun than jail
@@eugenesolonka5468 Problem with most stoners back then was they weren't worried about having a crystal ball...they were after the crystal "meth."
I almost bought a 71 Cuda 340 when I was 20 back in the 80's. He wanted 2900(2 thousand 900). Super clean car too. RED with black interior and A/C too. It's like the girl you wanted to marry but she said no. C'est la vie.
Reg cuda bout 50 60k
3.5 million and came with those shitty wheels!!!! Lol. 😂

I saw a sign out front of the residence of a guy I was buying a car from that said "You can't buy happiness, but you can buy a Corvette, and that's basically the same thing." I died laughing.
If you're wondering what kind of car it was, it was a 1970 Pontiac GTO. It was an unfinished project. It did have a motor, but it didn't run.
Yet they always fell short of both Ford and Chevrolet..
I love cars from the past but 3.5 million seems like one hell of a stretch.
Biggest waste of 3.5M IMHO.
