So guys do NOT worry if it doesn't work out the first or the second or the third try. Eventually it will like it did for me. Also REMEMBER, if it hurts then stop immediately, rest for some days and then go right back at it with a slightly different approach! You don't have to force the sound. I did this for three days and I can say confidently that I do fry screaming. I reached high notes I did not even know I could. Could you make a video where I could learn how to control my breathing exercises to build my endurance in general? Because the truth is I learned how to do it, but can not do it throughout a song. Thank you for your videos!

P.S. When you get a fry (that sharper and compressed sound but still not a "full" scream) and fry scream, the last thing that requires patience is to work on articulation, to be able to make more than just a single scream. In the beginning vowels are the easiest (a, e, i, o, u), later you can try an alphabet, some simple syllables, then simple words. You can try to combine syllables, words etc. to scream whole sentences or verses and step by step you will be able to scream whole songs :D
@@sibilaextremevocal I totally agree. I can do the screams and change the tone easily because I sing. I figured out the last step in your videos too, which was the hardest one. But I figured out as you said, that it’s more than just the screaming, as I cannot articulate yet, or do it consistently. These are the two things I will try to work on next, and I will watch the videos you recommended. Thanks for taking the time, really appreciate it! I hope your audience grows big, cause I went through many videos, before I achieve anything. That was by far the best tutorial !
Hi Panagiotis (cool nick btw. or is it a name? :D)! I am very glad that the video was helpful, thank you very much for your comment, I appreciate that much!
@@sibilaextremevocal No problem bro. You have a very detailed video which is crucial since there is no live interaction. I will even get your videos from Udemy when I will be able. And it is my name actually. It sounds weird cause it's Greek i guess 😂
Been dabbling in this for a couple months. Got the basic down but kept getting an itch in the back of my throat and didn't know why. When following your instructions for pitch I could feel that my problem was transitioning from one pitch to another--I was relying on my chords and not the air. I wouldn't have figured that out without your help--thank you so much for making this!
Hi Jeffrey, I'm glad the video was helpful! It's really great that you managed to diagnose your issue and you solved it, impressive :D Sometimes that itchy sensation can be also caused by too high volume or intensity. Thank you for your comment!
I have gone through numerous UA-cam videos and by far this one is the most detailed one and aims at teaching rather than providing a bait for a paid version. Thanks mayn you are doing a really great work , Respect ❤️
Hi, thank you! It's great you like the video, I tried my best to deliver something simple yet detailed and useful. Actually this video is a part of my Udemy course, there are some slight differences in this one but the core and main part of the tutorial remain the same, otherwise it wouldn't be helpful at all. If someone finds the video helpful, likes my way of explaining stuff and wants more exercises and ways to practice vocals, then he/ she can check out the actual course on Udemy, but there is no cheap bait behind that. :)
Oh, that's some really nice surprise! If you needed any help with your vocals, feel free to contact me anytime and I'll do my best to help (email xvocalcenter@gmail.com or facebook Extreme Vocal), Have a great day!
@@sibilaextremevocal ohkay !! so now it has been 7 days and I can now make that fry scream correctly! thanks bro 🤘but I am only able to do a high pitched scream , I have tried but I'm not able to do a fry scream like Phil Bozeman or Randy Blythe: deep lows, will i have to learn false chord for it ?
This is the first fry scream tutorial where I learned how to shift my voice from chest to head! I'm only at step 3 and have to build my way up, but it already helped so much!!
I bought your course on udemy and this video, with imagining lifting up the fry to specific parts of the head basically changed my life. Btw: I recently told a friend of mine about it and she couldn't believe it when she did her first fry scream and what she is able to do with her voice. Dude, this is GOLD!
I knew I would have to learn fry scream when I realized the scream I do (I learned is false chord) just doesn’t sound right. Thanks for getting me started!
this was awesome man, ive gotten until step 4 easily and that's never happened before. thank you so much for this. I can't seem to sustain my fry when i close my mouth but im sure I can make something happen by trying again with this, you've had the best tutorial so far man you can't imagine how happy I am
I find that it is easier for me to activate vocal fry lower and then increase pitch. I struggle to get the vocal fry as I increase in pitch especially towards my head voice, the fry sort of 'thins out' to where it basically isn't there. When I did the exercise where clean notes were sung and then fry added it was fine at first but it was difficult to add it as the pitch increased. BTW, great vid:)
Bro! Just want to tell that, I have watched at least 30 videos trying to learn how to get the fry scream and this one is the only one that was actually easy to understand and repeat. Actually it is the first time I leave a comment because now I feel I'm in the correct way thanks to you. Thank you so much.
Hi! Personally I struggled with the fry scream technique pretty long, watched dozens of tutorials too and made many mistakes in the beginning so I know that pain (sometimes real pain when I was destroying my voice :D). It's awesome to hear from you and I am more than glad that the video was helpful for you! If you had any questions about fry scream or vocals overall, feel free to contact me anytime and I'll do my best to help! Thanks for the comment!
The best Tutorial I could find. You look so graceful while screaming too :D Thank you so much, I finally understand the technique behind a fry and the fry scream
I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong but when I do it it’s just highs that I can do, and I feel like I clinch my upper throat a lot, but there’s no discomfort. I do false chords really well, I just can’t fry, and I feel limited without learning them. This Vid made me realize I’ve been doing it wrong the last couple years of trying
Do you have any recordings? If yes, feel free to send some on my email - xvocalcenter@gmail.com PS This exercise works the best for high pitched fry scream in the beginning because it's easier to get a fry with the head voice. If you want to master the mid or lower screams, it would be good to use the lower register (chest voice).
Omg I love this video. Its so helpfull that you can mimic/recreate the sounds in the indivudual steps, to show what learning the sound should sound like. All the other ways just show the mastered versions that take years and you have no idea if you're close to it. But this really really helps out
Hi Tobias! I am glad the you like those steps, I wanted to show the gradual "evolution" of the sound because from what I observe while practing vocals with other people, it's pretty helpful. Also while I was beginning my adventure with vocals it frustrated me that almost every video was showing the final, mastered form, as you have mentioned, and at the time I couldn't replicate such sound and didn't know how it sounds at the very beginning of practice. That's why I wanted to kind of put it into the first factors :) Thank you for the comment, have a great day!
Dude, thank you so much for this lesson. This is the best tutorial in fry scream that I've seen so far (and I've been seeing LOTS of them hahaha). It helped me so much! Thank you 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Hi Teresa! I went through a hundreds (literally) of videos about screaming so I understand :D That's why I wanted to create something really helpful and it's great you like the video! Thank you!
There's no need to feel that way - before I learnt how to do a healthy and good sounding fry scream I was looking for the exercises that fit my voice for almost 2,5 years :D Not mentioning the fact that up to 2020 the most of my students were better at fry scream than me, which motivated me to master it on a proper level (in my bands and other projects I was doing mostly false chord, now it's 50/50 and it's much better solution because of a richer dynamics and wider range of sounds I can make). Try out other methods and exercises, and see what fits your voice best. Thank you for appreciating the tutorial! PS In case of any questions, feel free to write me an email - xvocalcenter@gmail.com
While there are plenty of more technical and elaborate fry scream tutorials out there, this is the only one that has actually worked for me! Simply and effectively explained. Dziękuję!
I've watched many videos on Fry's and this is the first one I've found has helped me get the signature fry sounds!! Definitely a very well done video, the piano support helped tons. Subbed for sure! Keep it up homie

If you feel discomfort in your throat, there might be 3 most common reasons: 1. You try too loud/ too high/ or too intense (usually two of those are present at the same time), 2. Your breath support needs fixing, it can be that you tighten your neck or throat to create a fry noise/ fry scream 3. Too high air pressure (it can be caused by shallow breathing or using too much air for making sounds). Feel free to send me recordings with your attempts for fry scream, I'll do my best to give you a constructive feedback - xvocalcenter@gmail.com :)
It helped a lot that we have the same vocal range, very useful tutorial, but Idk why I can't do the vocal fry on top of the falsetto, I either do the fry sound alone or the falsetto alone, but never both at the same time
Hi! Using the falsetto or the mix voice or the head voice can be helpful, but from what I observe while practicing with others is that it's not a necessary part if it's hard to get it. Instead of the upper register or mix, you can place the vocal fry closer to your nose and then add the compression along the support without tightening your vocal folds and throat. Here is an example: drive.google.com/file/d/1zxMX8Zl9IWmlD-pM40zg9XjfWGFjyZo2/view?usp=sharing Here is a video about the compression, I see that many people I practice with find that method helpful! ua-cam.com/video/AJAbKuipkoA/v-deo.html

Thanks ! Im' not into this type of screaming at the basis, mostly because I'm wasn't able to sustain it. But now with your advices and a little practice I finally feel it ! :)
i love this video! do you have any suggestions for transitioning a tone + fry into fry that sounds more like a fry scream? i'm confident with the pitch of my vocal fry but i can't get that nice shrieking sound out of it
Hi, I am more than happy that you like the video! The "missing" point is (probably) the compression. Here is a tutorial that I recorded for you: drive.google.com/file/d/1GL5c0HrEwUxzD2YYUL0PEq5lIXxzQ9tm/view?usp=sharing Beside that, feel free to check out the course I've created on Udemy, there are more various ways and exercises for nailing the fry scream :) www.udemy.com/course/ultimate-extreme-vocals-course/?couponCode=BLEGHH
This is the best scream tutorial that I've ever seen! Thanks dude! I did all of the steps for almost 4 weeks but the last one is the hardest I guess. Is there any further explanation how to get more power to push the fry voice? I Wonder if compression is the part that I missed.
Hi! It's great that you made such a progress in 4 weeks, many people need even a few months :D The last step is about projecting the sound, it's about the compression but also about an intention - we want to release the sound, like we were throwing it from our mouth to the wall. For me it's reminding having a proper guard and then throwing a good quality punch.
@@sibilaextremevocal thanks for replying! by release/throwing the sound, does it need more air or a higher volume to achieve scream? No. I mean, I've been following your tutorial for 4 weeks. 5 months is actually the time that I've been trying fry scream, but haven't got there till now >.
It's more about the intention and letting your voice and body to act as it decides to. You open your mouth and met the sound outside like you wanted to throw it against the wall
I'm probably doing something wrong if my throat hurts and tickles, huh? Cuz like, I got the sound right, but it kinda hurts and my voice feels a little hoarse after. Either way, thanks for making this vid! Its the only useful one out of all the tutorials I've watched
Hi! Tickles and pain are a very direct signal that your technique might be not ready for a very intense scream yet. The most common reasons of pain and discomfort while screaming are: 1. Too high volume or/ and pitch 2. Shallow breathing (it causes extra pressure on your larynx and vocal folds) 3. Your breath support is not coordinated with your voice and you compensate the lack of proper support with tightening your neck and/ or larynx It would be easier to tell what exactly has to be improved if I had a chance to listen to your vocals so feel free to send me your recording on email - xvocalcenter@gmail.com!
Incredible! Watched so many videos on how to growl etc and haven't got anywhere, but even 5 minutes in & I've made progress. Great video! Ps: It helped that I liked doing impressions of the ghosts from The Grudge at school 😂 Thank you 👌🏻
Fantastic tutorial, the best I’ve seen on youtube! Quick question, should we keep practice sessions short to avoid damaging the vocal chords? Am I right in assuming this should not hurt at all if I’m doing it right?
Hello, thank you, I am very glad to read that! About your questions - sure, practicing for a shorter time like 10-20 minutes a day (after a decent warm up) or 5 minutes "here and there" throughout a whole day might be a good idea. Pain is a signal that something needs fixing and it's usually related to: 1. Not the best breath support technique (tightening abs way too hard, not engaging the core muscles enough or lack of a proper connection and coordination between core muscles and voice), 2. Aiming for too loud sound, 3. Compressing too much, trying too hard. A slight discomfort, like after trying out new exercises at the gym or after visiting the gym for the first time is something quite normal but a situation when you feel that throat and larynx are really irritated, then the technique needs some improvement. Last year I've created a free course about the most commont "fry scream killers" and how to improve the technique. Maybe you will find something useful in it: www.udemy.com/course/why-you-cant-fry-scream-5-things-killing-your-fry-scream/?referralCode=64DF0CE9898D381E4FBC

Very good tutorial. Sadly I've been practicing the fry scream for years. I can get the fry sound and i can do a sustained scream pretty wel but i can't do lyrics my scream breaks.
Hi! Thank you, that means a lot to me :) About your fry, do you have any recordings? If so, feel free to send me one on mail - xvocalcenter@gmail.com, I will do my best to help.
Thank you for the helpful video! I can’t seem to keep the fry sound when closing my mouth. If I really compress and squeeze I can sorta but that feels wrong and hurtful to my throat, I assume closing the mouth it should feel exactly the same just like humming and opening up into an “ah”? Thanks for the help!
Yes, you described it very accurately! The sound may feel as if it starts to boil and becomes more focused and dense. If it's hurtful, then there's probably something to fiz in your technique. Feel free to send me a recording - I will gladly help :)
This is definetly the best video Ive found on fry screams. The only thing that Im struggling on is putting power onto the sound or maybe Im just holding back cause its 1am😅 (Also this is my first try so maybe that too) But I think I finally at least made the basic fry noise without any power so thank you and this video is really really helping me out man. Keep it up!
Awesome, I am very glad to read that! Very good that you are able to make a fry noise after the 1st attempt - it's damn impressive! Remember to not push your voice too hard, be calm and patient, your fry will gradually improve. :) If you had any questions, feel free to contact me anytime on facebook - extreme vocal or elsewhere, Cheers!
Excellent video! It is very helpful, but I just can't get the "top of the head vocal fry" nor the "vocal fry on top of falsetto". I've seen lots of videos and this always the part where I get stuck.
Thank you Flupahboy (btw. nice nickname :D)! There are at least 2 ways - you can try to get fry with mix or lower register or you can practice clean singing using head voice or falsetto to get used to those registers. For me the 2nd thing did awesome job, I struggled with head voice and falsetto pretty long.
everyone says fry scream is better for beginners but I've watched tons of tutorials on how to fry scream and I still don't get. However, it was easier for me to learn false chords, and do them pretty easily
I don't think that fry scream is that recommended for beginners, especially if they lack experience with singing and managing the airflow and the proper breath support. Fry scream is more subtle than false chord and it's much easier to do one thing too hard (for example the vocal folds connection) and another too "lazy" (for example the breath support or compression). Balance is the key for learning how to fry scream and the most of people, especially beginners (especially those who don't have experience with voice emission and singing etc.) don't have it and that's why so many people struggle with fry scream. False chord is more straightforward, pretty primitive. There are people who struggle with it too (for example if they have hard time in locating the false vocal folds or using enough of the support, or if they have constrictions in the throat, larynx or jaw) but overall false chord seems to be more "friendly" for total beginners. Fry scream is great because it requires pretty low effort and amount of air, compared to the false chord. It also sounds sharper because of the higher compression and lesser amount of air but false chord on the other hand is way louder in the beginning, and is very good for mids and lows.
Not so random ;) Everything that is important to my activity as a coach or vocalist happens outside of you tube. I'm glad the video is helpful for you, cheers!

I could never believe i could make a voice like that before I watch your video.Man you are GOLD. Keep it up bro.
I practice this on the bus ride to work every morning. It also provides a little Comfort space.
It's really great that you managed to diagnose your issue and you solved it, impressive :D
Sometimes that itchy sensation can be also caused by too high volume or intensity.
@@sibilaextremevocal yeah sir I'm going through your Udemy lessons as well 🤘

Hi Sabsndi, that's wonderful and I am more than happy to read that, thank you for sharing it with me!
Everyone's voice is different so it's great that you found a way that suits your voice better! :)
The only channel that actually taught me how to do it. BIG THANK YOU!!

The best Tutorial I could find. You look so graceful while screaming too :D Thank you so much, I finally understand the technique behind a fry and the fry scream
still brand new to this but so far this has been the tutorial that has gotten me the furthest thank you
Awesome! If you ever had any questions about the fry scream or needed help, keep me updated and I will do my best to help :)
If yes, feel free to send some on my email - xvocalcenter@gmail.com
PS This exercise works the best for high pitched fry scream in the beginning because it's easier to get a fry with the head voice.
That's why I wanted to kind of put it into the first factors :)
Thank you for the comment, have a great day!
Love ❤from Nepal

For the first time ever, I am making actual progress. Best tutorial!
Thank you :) I am very glad to read that you make progress - good job!
i feel dumb cause i cant even get this down and it’s the best tutorial on youtube

This is the best tutorial vid I have ever seen thank u so much for this
I actually had this feeling once or twice, thank you. But still more times have throat pain, need to be careful with this thing
If you feel discomfort in your throat, there might be 3 most common reasons:
1. You try too loud/ too high/ or too intense (usually two of those are present at the same time),
2. Your breath support needs fixing, it can be that you tighten your neck or throat to create a fry noise/ fry scream
Here is an example:

Here is a video about the compression, I see that many people I practice with find that method helpful!

This is the best scream tutorial that I've ever seen! Thanks dude!
I did all of the steps for almost 4 weeks but the last one is the hardest I guess. Is there any further explanation how to get more power to push the fry voice? I Wonder if compression is the part that I missed.
Hi! It's great that you made such a progress in 4 weeks, many people need even a few months :D
The last step is about projecting the sound, it's about the compression but also about an intention - we want to release the sound, like we were throwing it from our mouth to the wall.
@@sibilaextremevocal I think I got it. I'm gonna try harder then! Thanks dude!
THANKS. perfect explaning!!!

@@sibilaextremevocal dude hell yea!! Cant wait to see more in the future!🤘😈🤘
The most common reasons of pain and discomfort while screaming are:
1. Too high volume or/ and pitch
2. Shallow breathing (it causes extra pressure on your larynx and vocal folds)
3. Your breath support is not coordinated with your voice and you compensate the lack of proper support with tightening your neck and/ or larynx
It would be easier to tell what exactly has to be improved if I had a chance to listen to your vocals so feel free to send me your recording on email - xvocalcenter@gmail.com!
@@sibilaextremevocal thank you so much for the tips! i will definitely email you!
Thank you bro.

Thank you Keiji, I'm happy that the tutorial was helpful!
Pain is a signal that something needs fixing and it's usually related to:
1. Not the best breath support technique (tightening abs way too hard, not engaging the core muscles enough or lack of a proper connection and coordination between core muscles and voice),
2. Aiming for too loud sound,
Maybe you will find something useful in it:

Very good tutorial. Sadly I've been practicing the fry scream for years. I can get the fry sound and i can do a sustained scream pretty wel but i can't do lyrics my scream breaks.

@@sibilaextremevocal Thank you! Imma start looking for falsetto tutorials now
everyone says fry scream is better for beginners but I've watched tons of tutorials on how to fry scream and I still don't get.
I watch ton of fry scream video but this one is the best and i think it's working for me, thank you random dude with long hair from UA-cam.. (0 w 0
Not so random ;) Everything that is important to my activity as a coach or vocalist happens outside of you tube. I'm glad the video is helpful for you, cheers!
