As an editor, I have to say great job with the build and the video itself. You did a great job concisely explaining what was necessary and knowing when it's ok to just speed through a section on double speed. Have seen bigger channels with much less feel for the medium. For a settlement that everyone just wants to skip over and forget about, you really made a cool space out of it.
Multiple playthroughs, hours of frustration trying to fix the house using every trick I could think of and giving up. You, my friend made it look so easy....Thank you for sharing this.
Thank you and you’re welcome! It took me awhile to figure out how to do this - so I thought it was worth documenting and sharing. Hope it helps you in your game!
of the HUNDREDS of settlement vids i have watched over the years this is THE BEST i have ever watched. you were concise, the descriptions made sense, and i was immersed. thank you SOOOOO much for this! keep it up!!
Thank you! I appreciate your feedback and encouragement! It is good to know that the instructions weren't confusing and it kept your attention. I will utilize a similar technique in future videos.
After several play throughs I have never been happy with this location. I am going to do my best to replicate this and make it my characters home. Great job
Thank you! Ideally, I think this location is best suited for a player home - it gets a little crowded if you have too many settlers in a fairly small space. Glad that this inspired you - hope the build goes well!!
Thanks for this i usually ignore this settlement because it's such a pain and glitches/mods atm i don't use. You have given me some ideas on this place now.
Very nice! I dread trying to build here. Kevin Alibert has a solution that requires an extreme amount of glitching that works but I like this method better. I especially like the large deck that can be turned into an open-air market. Well done. Very creative.
Thank you! I totally understand dreading to build here! I think this has to be the least popular settlement in the game. I hope that this has given you ideas and inspiration to build here!
By the end of November 2015 I had confirmed that I was not a competent builder. If I tried what you just did People would say "I see what you did but what were you trying to do ? Whatever it was, you failed again." You need to never have those kinds of worries. Your efforts gave outstanding results. Well Done.
Thank you! I have a lot of hours in FO4 (almost 4500 now - yikes!!). A majority of the time was spent building- so I’ve have lots of practice. I’d be afraid to look at what I built in my early days of the game - I know it was pretty bad. So if it is something that interests you, I hope that you will give it a try again. Start small and build your confidence 😊
That is awesome i just came across this settlement and thought how can i build anything nice at this wonky settlement but u did a heck of a nice job im gonnna give this settlement a chance
Thank you for this amazing video! So detailed and precise. The music, your voice, the pacing is just perfect. I’m happy your video popped up in my algorithm! Liked and subscribed as well. I look forward to going through your other videos and for new settlement builds as well.
Thank you and welcome! I appreciate your feedback too! I only recently started to post no mod, no glitch tutorials and tours and plan to do more (my older videos are mainly my FO4 with Sim Settlements 2 City Plan Contest entries).
@@cryingcube2 I’ve enjoyed all the videos I’ve watched so far 😎 I don’t use mods or glitches in any games so I definitely look forward to more of these lol but yes of course I wish you nothing but happiness and success!
Wow...I am blown away by your work at this settlement! I can never do anything to this place, but now...maybe I'll give it another try using some of your ideas! Great job!
Thank you! Since I know that this settlement is generally considered to be hopeless and can't be renovated without mods, I wanted to give it a try. It took a while to figure out how to get everything to work in vanilla (w DLCs) and without glitches - so I thought it was worth sharing. Hopefully you will try in your game - if you do, let me know how it goes!
I'm new to the game and I love the instructional format of this video. Also love the no glitch or mod since I try not to do either (i like my game's stability). Thank you for this!
I do something similar, but you have made a better job of the house bit! Coastal Cottage is such a good site if we take the time to work around it's....many problems.
Thank you for this great video and you explained very well without unnecessary talking like other videos I’ve watched. Costal Cottage looks great and I will definitely give this build a try
Man I love Fallout 4. Says a huge amount about the game when, years later, people are still building, innovating and making awesome tutorials (like this one) about the game. I'm guilty of being a bit of a lazy builder for most places in Fallout 4, as much as I love turning Sanctuary into a haven. I've gotta spend more time with other settlements. 😅
Thank you! I completely agree with you - almost 10 years later there is never a day that goes without new Fallout 4 content on You Tube! It has definitely kept my attention over the years. For all of the time that I have spent in the game, it may be the best money I have ever spent! My current no mods character has mostly stayed away from Sanctuary because I'm not really sure what to do with the houses without mods - I'm still thinking about it!!
Very well done. I appreciate the way you demonstrated and explained as you went along. I found a new way to fix this eyesore of a settlement, lol. Thank you very much.😅
Great tutorial! I just wish I have the patience to make everything snap properly; it’s just so annoying when you can’t place things where you want them. I just gave up building 🤷🏻♀️
Thank you! I understand your frustration with building! I've always built with mods just for that reason. Recently, I decided to try no mods to see what can be done with what the game allows - and it isn't easy! The game is a lot of fun even if you don't build - but maybe give it a try again!
You did a great job rebuilding. I've done something similar and found that I had to fill the hole as the settlers would get stuck under the house in the hole. I tried to use steps so they could escape but there ai was too dumb for the task.
Thank you! In the past I tried to use the hole under the house but found the same thing as you. It’s a unique feature and it makes sense to use it for something - but I never understood why Bethesda wouldn’t have designed it so that settlers can get both in and out of the hole.
There aren’t a lot of good furniture choices that came with the base game and DLCs. The Creation Club has a modern furniture add-on but shaker would be a better option. The modern furniture doesn’t fit my current building style.
I’m a bit confused @cryingcube2 your title says no mods, but at 6:42 there are title sets I have not seen on foundations. Are these Fromm creation club?
Yes - they are from the creation club. I own most of the creations that either gave me more building pieces or player homes. Unfortunately, a lot of the creation club items show up at the beginning of the build menus which means a lot of scrolling to get to the vanilla (and DLC) tiles.
Yes - that is an effective way to position things without mods. I don't use console commands in the no mods no glitch series so that is Xbox and Playstation friendly.
Lol! Thank you! I will have to go back and take a look at the railing (not sure which one). They were all placed the way that they would snap so I'm curious... Regarding the doors - in the real world, I think that exterior doors generally open inwards. When building in FO4, they go whichever way they fit!
You are correct - this build used materials from the Wasteland Workshop, Far Harbor and Contraptions Workshop DLCs. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. It was an oversight on my part to not include this information in the video. I listed the necessary DLCs in the description to hopeful help avoid confusion in the future ☺️
The barn floors are from the Far Harbor DLC. I listed the DLCs that I used in the description but overlooked stating it in the video. Sorry for the confusion.

Came for the video, stayed for the commentary, subbed for quality!
Thank you! Welcome - very much appreciated!
Great video. This place is most people's choice for worst settlement location, but you did an excellent job. Well edited as well.
Thank you! I appreciate your feedback. I totally agree that this the worst settlement! Hopefully this will make it a little easier to build.
I was just thinking of how I should make Coastal Cottage look and....voila, here we go.
Perfect! Glad this inspired you to build at Coastal Cottage!
This was a great tutorial and I was able to replicate 99% of this rebuild. Thank you for your hard work!

Thank you! Absolutely steal away!! I'm glad that this will help you with your build!
I do something similar, but you have made a better job of the house bit!
