You can use a glass halfwall in the warehouse section to fill windows with glass. It will look like glass window with bars. Also, you can use weapon racks in the decorations/display section to repaire walls, some of them are snapable.
I'm kinda glad they didn't quite frankly, sure i get the disapproval, but i think having houses you can't scrap or roofs you can't completely fix, or a big hole in the ground adds to the experience. now from a gameplay perspective yeah i get it, but i like having to figure what i can come up with. if there's one thing Bethesda should've did, was add paint to walls and scrap or burn dead bodies, basically light em on fire. if those two things were in the game, i think most people could live with the Sanctuary houses as they are. that said their are mods that will fix them up completely, or completely replace them all together with something new. i don't really bother with mods like that, but not being able to paint walls is a missed opportunity.
Love the vids! I used the mesh from the junk fences to cover the windows. Looks like you just rolled some construction mesh fencing over the windows to keep out the stingwings!
I watched this about a month ago and I've slowly been rewalling all my sanctuary houses. Each time I finish one I just keep thinking how dang good it looks! And it's so simple! I had this idea to make all the backyards little gardens and assign two farmers to those crops and beds so everyone practically gets their own house! Thanks for your help, love your channel!
I don't think your videos are too long. Many You Tubers rush and it comes across more like, "Hey look at me!" And less like, "here's how WE can do this."
I pillar glitched one of those rectangular windows from the Vault Tech dlc on top of another one & then glitched the two into the walls in sanctuary to fix the windows. You can adjust the size & the round windows fill the smaller size holes on the sides of the house. Gun racks are really good at patching walls & windows too. 🖤✌️
@Chase Venus I hear you Bro, don't let Bugthesda get to you, after all, we don't have to buy anything from Bethesda or Zenimax or their affiliate companies. That will send a strong message to them! Bethesda thinks they can strong arm their gamers, they better think again as we gamers hold the true power over Bethesda or any other gaming corporations. What power is that? Well, glad you asked! Now as far as rebuilding the settlements, remember you don't have to rebuild them. In fact, take a break from building, maybe even the game. It'll still be here when you get back. Oh, I just remembered there are mods that can do a lot to change it up. I know Paul doesn't use mods, and I can't blame him. He trys to work around the problems without mods.
Man i love you, the method from the video wasn't working for me until I tried the pillar thing and it worked perfectly, I was starting to lose my sanity lol
Replaying for the umpteenth time and decided to go mod-free as a completionist. Thanks for all the great videos. They really help when dealing with the base game.
Hey Professor, I miss your Fallout classes! Seriously, I'm still playing this game...lol Even if you give us a tour of something you've created... You always inspire your students...pushing us to higher levels of creativity... 💕Missing you, Man💕
I actually ended up rebuilding one of the Sanctuary homes from scratch and got it looking pretty good. It's one of my favorite parts of my current Sanctuary build.
Huh, I literally just popped in my fallout 4 disk to do some random building after a very long time as this video came out... At least I know where to start now lol
Love these building vids and watched a lot of them, yet i barely build shacks for my settlers.😑 Also why do people complain about vids being too long, doesn’t make sense to me.
I am one of those, before our internet have a data cap, so I tend to not watch 10 minutes longer video. Imagine you have only 50 gigabyte of data to use for one month. 😢
People complaining about long videos are people looking for a solution to something and don't want to go through a long video to find the 30 seconds of the clip they need. I've run into this myself. This guy's videos are super interesting though, so I watch the whole thing. But yeah, it just depends on the audience you're targeting. Because his videos are about teaching building skills and techniques, it's not really plausible to put it in 2 or 3 minute videos. There are other vids for finding something specific, or just fast forward in these vids.
Love your videos for my PS4 builds/playthroughs. I use no mods on PS4, but mod the heck out of my Xbox plays. Always love seeing new tips/glitches. Amazing the tricks there still are after all these years
You can push the cabinet out through the front/bottom window a little more, making a shelf outside for decorating. Warehouse half wall all glass windows will cover and can be used as windows.
Another great vid! Your vids have made settlement building so much more enjoyable for me. The build system was put in the game in typical Bethesda style... unfinished and with more bugs than a 4th of July bbq. Thanks for all of your extremely helpful vids
subscribed to your channel. and this weekend, you're gunna be my best friend. I have had a horrible time trying to figure out how to build in sanctuary and your channel is unique in the way that you break the information down and make it fun and easy. I'll be attending your classes this weekend. Thank you so so much for this. You're a hero
Man, I really appreciate you finding these great work-arounds for fixing up vanilla, they're inventive and hella resourceful! That being said, just a couple wee mods like Scrap That Settlement and repaired roofs and Unlocked Settlement Objects give you so so so much more control and more options that the perfectionist in all of us squeals in delight. I'm positive you must already be aware man, but its bursting outta me like an alien while watching you install that wood floor. Still think you're a pimp for your efforts in vanilla, though.
Love these vids. While you Were fitting the walls I noticed all those open spaces and wondered if I could set up some sort of shopping center on those window areas out and open walls
That area at about 11:50 I usually just build a Slocum's Joe's from the CC. It's a nice addition, I have seen it on sale before and it adds several food, coffee and a few tea items, plus you can build this shop fairly early on in the game to earn some settlement income. I recommend watching videos detailing it, Oxhorn may have a video on it. Btw, this is just an after thought about the two Fallout games, I've noticed many players who had left Fallout 4 to go play Fallout 76 have left Fallout 76 in the dust and are returning to Fallout 4, streamers included! Glad to have you back Paul in Fallout 4!
I rewalled almost entirely with concrete. It’s bulky, but it covers up a lot, and you can get a bit creative with the “pillars” and vertical hallways. They are also a lot more forgiving with the clipping when snapping additional pieces into place.
Hey my dude, I know these are oooooold videos. However I do want to say thank you. These tutorials have really helped me out in my current playthrough for building!
My problem with building inside the Sanctuary houses is consistency. What drops right in for one play though, takes an hour of changing floor/wall/roof combinations in another. I still do it, but I spend a lot of time grumbling at the TV.
0:39 You will do 30 hours of work and then you run into problems, new game and all your 100 hours lost, now do that 20 or 40 times, Just use a high quality mod, its better than anything you can do and its free, also instant, even if you start a new game.
A few years ago right before you started the no mod shop vids i ran across some kids video. In said video he rewalled them using the stair glitch from the outside. But obviously yours is ten thousand times better.
If you have the Slocums Joe add on from Creation Club the white brick walls give a nice finish as they blend in well with the existing buildings. Also one on adding doors, the doorway to the house with the workshop just snaps into place as does the side door on what was once your house. I've tried all the other houses but these are the only two that you don't need to glitch in place.
I would use the Nice Wood Wall with the slightly diagonal cross board. Those will clip into the house walls without using Glitching. Then you can snap connect more to the 1st section and carry it down trough the house's side. You can also Pillar Glitch full length sections doing an entire side of the house in a single pass.. The Diagonal board makes a difference when connecting more wall sections to the 1st. So rotate 180deg if you find your unable to connect. I sometimes fill windows with paintings of scenery.
Sweet! That house I was working on just a little last night. I was struggling with that room with the broken fan. Now what I did was before I did anything else like a floor, roof, and walls. I placed a larger rubber mat and then I set a bed and a night stand on that mat. I used the piller glitch using one of those conduit pipes like the ones you use...man those are awesome for the wrong purpose. Lol. I was able to pillar glitch that mat with the items into that room. I had to adjust a few times but it actually worked out pretty good. Now since I've been watching a couple of your videos today with the floors and walls in Sanctuary Hills, I'll most likely do something like what you did. I was just throwing in some walls in some areas where the walls were really opened. I was just doing a quick setup so I could have my settlers go to the homes instead of my original way I had my settlement which I kind of explained in flooring video right before this video. One thing I definitely need to go watch again is your top tips for settlement building. I forgot how to move things up and down while standing still. I've done it by accident and I couldn't figure out how I did it. So I definitely need to figure that out because yes it is very difficult sometimes trying to get things into place without doing that method. Thank you again for your awesome video. You're giving me all these ideas but I want to know more before really trying to make something greatly in my eyes. Like this house, thankfully I only really just put a bed and power in it that I can easily do again after doing certain things first. If you know what I mean.
Oh question. I noticed something I don't have when you're in workshop mode. What is that item that is showing in your special section? I don't have that whatever it is.
Just fired up Fallout 4 again to try and get through the seemingly endless covid isolation. Thankfully I can lose days playing this thing. My prev saves had all corrupted, though, and wouldn't load. I had all sorts of stuff going on - Mos Eisley, King's Landing, Art Deco spaceport, Liverpool waterfront, HP Lovecraft Themepark - all lost like tears in the rain. Hey ho. I love the building mechanic in this game; it allows my imagination to run amok. I use mods to stop the raids and keep the weather sunny so I can get on with building. Other than that I try to use just vanilla assets and yours and norespawns' videos have been invaluable. Especially happy with sacking off Preston Freakin' Garvey and his missions from hell. I've shot him in the face many times in previous games. He can rot in Concord.
It was at Kingsport. I had Joseph Curwen in the lighthouse, Innsmouth down on the beach, and the old non-euclidean architecture based round the old house. I'm reading a lot of John Le Carre at the mo' so I reckon cold war Berlin is on the cards. Templehof looks like it will be interesting to work out. Just finished refurbishing Sanctuary using some of your techniques. Looking sweet.
I use mods but I still enjoy watching your videos you are a smart man. Great job on all your videos. I played through Fallout 4 9 times no mods but my 10th time playing through it I started using mods.
Thank you, Sifu Paul, for another amazing set of techniques! Haven't tried it yet, but what about using the basketball goal to glitch in the wood table to cover junk in the floor? (like you showed us in the Diamond City build)
Thanks for this! I may use this idea in an upcoming build of mine. I really wish they had given us those half vertical walls, too, at least ones that snap. To add to my wishlist for building materials, I would want quarter sized walls, and both half and quarter sized roof pieces, too. It would give us far more options when snapping, and somewhat less reliance on glitching to make things look perfect.
5:42 In teh Warehouse Section there are some Greenhouse Walls... I rug Glitched 2 in a corner to replace the windows on the Players old House... It looks really good!
@@SkooledZone Honest to god, your videos have been a God Send! The only thing I have not done in Sanctuary that really I should have gave more time is Reflooring... I tried following your video but didn't get it right and just ignored it... LOL! I tend to get frustrated too easy... I have so many ideas now though to improve my settlements - Even finding it so much easier leaving Preston in the Museum while I build them! No Recruitment beacons means way less raids... :P
Very enjoyable to watch; always interesting to see what you can come up with, without using mods -- even as someone who uses and has access to them! My only criticism -- and this is exceptionally minor -- but, maybe consider adding some relatively tame, quiet background music to your videos? Doesn't have to be a long playlist, just something that you can loop; I'd suggest using the Pipboy Radio if you didn't want to edit anything in, but the announcer interjections might get annoying. Either way, loved the video! Looking forward to more!
Ah, dem 1x2 warehouse floor tiles and half-size warehouse and barn walls. They are the saviours of my renovation projects :D 3:34 the difference in heights between half-warehouse/barn, shack and full barn/warehouse wall is really really useful, actually. Projects like Taffington Boathouse and Egret Marina need the extra barn wall height. Consider pictures as a wall hole filler, too. Worked for me in Egret. I've put lights in the Sanctuary houses that have beds, so I might have to go back and re-roof and wall them now... don't have enough wood for a full re-floor :(
I use the big white wooden Barn Doors to patch holes in all of Sancuatry's houses. Every house in the neighborhood is trimmed in white. It looks good everywhere, and it's just about as tall as the vanilla walls.
Sanctuary completely messes up settlement building for me. Being the first settlement you come across it should have been optimized better. Great vid tho
I use the windows from the warehouse section and glitch them in place of the windows in the houses in Sanctuary they work fine. There are windows in frames and then there are the walls with windows that I use for the sections that have openings on the bottoms of the windowsills that work perfectly in my build in Sanctuary.
Haven't seen your videos in a long time in my youtube list of recommended videos. Also glad to see your still doing fallout 4 build tutorials. But when it comes to glitching and patching holes into pre existing house I tend to use the cheat engine mod where you can place anything anywhere. I just don't have the time and patient to carefully adjust the build.
Honestly this is a godsend for me. I have the mod that let's me remove the junk on the ground. Well when I do that, and try to place something on the ground it falls through the floor automatically like the rug glitch but worse.
Nice vid once again, for the windows, i usually put the chainlink fence piece without posts in them, that way you still have a windows but grenades etc cant me thrown in and attacker cant jump through the windows 👍 When i play with mods i put the warehouse rolling door scaled down in front of em 😁✌
I know you said it in your other video, but what’s your day job, because Every time I watch your videos I think you’re a teacher. Great videos.👍🏼 very helpful, Did my Roof the other day looks great.
"Fingers crossed they won't use the same engine in the next Bethesda game". That aged well. 🥴 This series is great, I'm FINALLY playing Fallout 4 after bouncing off it when it first came out. I've gotten into settlements and rebuilding Sanctuary. Even with some settlement mods, I've found the inability to fix up Sanctuary houses frustrating. I'm going to try some of these techniques combined with mods like Homemaker and Scrap Everything.
Anyone else wish that when your in building mode other settlements can't be attacked? I was rewalling sanctuary and kept having to quit to go deal with other settlements because my ocd won't allow me to ignore them lol. Anyway great video Paul very helpful.
When you did the floor video I experimented by putting walls around floor before moving into house, Couldn't remember if work so I'm gonna try your technique
You can glitch in the wire junk fences for the windows. Also the half glass industrial walls for glass. Been doing it for ages even though now I've got place anywhere so don't have to glitch it to get it to work.
In ESO, when you’re in cyrodil you can repair walls for your alliance using kits and you just go up to them and use what kits you have in your inventory. I wish they had that option with the Castle and sanctuary using the materials you have in the work bench.
I never use mods Because the Internet is not always available So i just ust what games offers me and your videos are a big help as well so yeah its all good:)
The secret-sauce of your videos is 1) your extensive planning, 2) great knowledge of your toolset, and then 3) your willingness to go off-script and play with ideas you spontaneously come up with while recording your lessons. You can use a glass halfwall in the warehouse section to fill windows with glass. It will look like glass window with bars.
Also, you can use weapon racks in the decorations/display section to repaire walls, some of them are snapable.
It's a little strange that Bethesda did not include a mechanic for restoring or completely scraping the houses.
IKR?
"It's a little strange that Bethesda did not..."
No it's not. All you need to know is right there.
I'm kinda glad they didn't quite frankly, sure i get the disapproval, but i think having houses you can't scrap or roofs you can't completely fix, or a big hole in the ground adds to the experience.

I had this idea to make all the backyards little gardens and assign two farmers to those crops and beds so everyone practically gets their own house! Thanks for your help, love your channel!
That's a pretty good idea. In each garden you could built different crops and make sanctuary an adhesive farm :)
That's a great idea. I also make sure to assign the farmers beds, in the same house that has the garden plots, to keep them local. :)
I don't think your videos are too long. Many You Tubers rush and it comes across more like, "Hey look at me!" And less like, "here's how WE can do this."

Yup, I never got the artillery piece because I didn't complete the Minutemen quests. Sided with the Railroad.
That's too bad, the HP Lovecraft Themepark would've been cool to see! :)
Oh man, quarter walls would've been amazing
If your trying to explain something it's ok if your vid are long just stay on topic and everything is fine.
Dude your videos are the best
I appreciate that!
5:42 In teh Warehouse Section there are some Greenhouse Walls... I rug Glitched 2 in a corner to replace the windows on the Players old House... It looks really good!
Nice!
It is possible to pillar glitch the glass warehouse walls into the the big Windows on the house depending on how forgiving your game is.
Keep it up dude bro 😁
🤘😄
Ah, dem 1x2 warehouse floor tiles and half-size warehouse and barn walls. They are the saviours of my renovation projects :D
3:34 the difference in heights between half-warehouse/barn, shack and full barn/warehouse wall is really really useful, actually.
Your voice is easy on the ears.
🤜🤛 Fist bump. Thanks
Right on 👊
Sanctuary completely messes up settlement building for me. Being the first settlement you come across it should have been optimized better. Great vid tho
Atleast be able to clean it up a little better...
Tiny Table Wargames get rid of those broken houses and the big trees, and any rubble that was on the floor would have been so much nicer
Yay, he's back!
Glad your back!!
I use the windows from the warehouse section and glitch them in place of the windows in the houses in Sanctuary they work fine. There are windows in frames and then there are the walls with windows that I use for the sections that have openings on the bottoms of the windowsills that work perfectly in my build in Sanctuary.
I have been glitching the walls in Sanctuary a couple years now, I've gotten pretty good at it.
Nice vid once again, for the windows, i usually put the chainlink fence piece without posts in them, that way you still have a windows but grenades etc cant me thrown in and attacker cant jump through the windows 👍
When i play with mods i put the warehouse rolling door scaled down in front of em 😁✌
Awesome video! In a previous gameplay I pillar glitched the half glass wall from the warehouse into the walls with the smaller windows.
I know you said it in your other video, but what’s your day job, because Every time I watch your videos I think you’re a teacher. Great videos.👍🏼 very helpful,
Did my Roof the other day looks great.
Actually went to university for teaching but opted to try my luck in Hollywood. Ended up getting into UA-cam. So you weren't far off. ;-)
Good old Preston patrolling up and down the streets of Sanctuary as usual 😂
I wish there was a way to get rid of all the brush and dead bushes. You'd think that after 200 years, they'd have cleaned it up a bit.
"Fingers crossed they won't use the same engine in the next Bethesda game".
That aged well. 🥴
This series is great, I'm FINALLY playing Fallout 4 after bouncing off it when it first came out.
When you did the floor video I experimented by putting walls around floor before moving into house,
Couldn't remember if work so I'm gonna try your technique
I like to use the green house sections for new Windows in the houses look ok I think 👍🏴🇬🇧
I like the concrete walls. You can sink the brick walls into them and make them look really nice.
You can glitch in the wire junk fences for the windows. Also the half glass industrial walls for glass. Been doing it for ages even though now I've got place anywhere so don't have to glitch it to get it to work.
Oo is that mod on PS4?
I don't know I use PC but I imagine if they don't have place anywhere they have something similar. I found it on the nexus.
In ESO, when you’re in cyrodil you can repair walls for your alliance using kits and you just go up to them and use what kits you have in your inventory. I wish they had that option with the Castle and sanctuary using the materials you have in the work bench.
Totally! And without any microtransactions. ;-)
I never use mods
Because the Internet is not always available
So i just ust what games offers me and your videos are a big help as well so yeah its all good:)
Thanks Paul!
