I'm happy that they're taking influence from Swiss Family here with the new treehouse. Seeing that there isn't a full-on IP tie-in for the treehouse is kinda a breath of fresh air for me. Finally, a new Disney attraction not completely IP based! I'm excited for the treehouse to reopen hopefully soon. I think, Peoplemover should be next when they get to that in a century or two LOL
I hope that this is a successful trial balloon that shows Disney that not everything in Imagineering has to be based on some hot new IP. It's ok to go back to the 2000s when Rohde and the gang were taking some risks with Expedition Everest and Mission: Space
It definitely looks different than the original one that was at Disneyland but I am excited that they are incorporating the classic treehouse look and vibe to the Adventureland area and maybe this is the first step of bringing back classic attractions to the park so fingers crossed that PeopleMover is next on the list 👀
I'm glad - after decades of nothing but I.P.-based attractions/revamps/overlays, etc. - that they're FINALLY having a standalone attraction that's just its own thing again (like so many iconic, "can't-find-'em-anywhere-but-Disneyland" attractions such as Pirates/Mansion/Tiki/Jungle cruise, etc.). I mean, yeah, it's an amalgam of those I.P.s (as you mentioned), but it's not a full-on sell-out (like so many recent reimaginings). I remember going to an "Imagineering Day" ('member those? the sort of "open house"-type events wherein friends, family of Disney employees - as well as civilian guests could attend on the Disney lot in Burbank, back in the 90s/early 2000s?) and I sat in on a presentation on the upcoming Cars Land at DCA. Marty Sklar, after doing the presentation, opted (foolishly) to take questions from the small audience in the tiny room in the Frank Wells Building. One audience member raised his hand and asked "Will Disney ever again have any attractions that are standalone, non-I.P.-related rides, ala the Haunted Mansion or Pirates?". Marty, looking like a stunned deer in the headlights was broadsided by this and hemmed and hawed and stuttered out a meager, "Well, uh, I think, uh, that, uh, maybe, uh, I don't know, uh, perhaps...Uh...maybe...yes?". I knew right then, that was the end of that era.
Swiss Family Robinson will be CANON with SEA?!?! Perfect! I've only ever been to the Magic Kingdom Treehouse. Adventureland is so atmospheric at night but the walk-through treehouse, where you go at your own pace and look at everything... better during the day when you can see well (and get shade) [also, LEGO!]
For the longest time I thought that Antonio's room was gonna be announced but this is way more cool and my mom is happy to hear about it as she remembers the original treehouse alongside my late grandparents and my uncle. She even remembers the people mover as a way to take a break from all of the walking in the California sunshine and was bummed out when she couldn't ride the rocket rods while pregnant with me in the summer of 2000.
Honestly, with how quiet Disney was about the Treehouse, I was getting suspicious that they were going to turn it into extended queueing for POTC (given how bad that line will spill into NOS). Seriously have no idea why they didn’t announce this at D23.
Here's a question. How do we not know this isn't the treehouse to feature in the new Disney+ Swiss Family Robinson? "Inspired by Walt Disney's Swiss Family Robinson" indeed.
I was worried that it would turn into an open air shop under tree house and then close the treehouse in the name of accessibility (like they did all the other Disneyland tree houses). I am pretty happy that they are mostly restoring to an older configuration but I wonder how the traffic flow will work without the stump.
I'm always a bit sad to see things change, but I think the major part of that is not really being able to say "goodbye" to those things. I don't live quite close enough to Disneyland to be able to just hop over and spend an afternoon over there and enjoy the all the parts of the park. So when things change I likely won't be there to experience it one last time before it goes away, which is sad. Although I am looking forward to the new treehouse and it's SEA ties.
So happy about this! I also come here with a request though for my favorite Disneyland historian. I would love to see a video from you about IP based attractions from opening day/60s era Disneyland! While I'm as sick as everyone else of nothing but IPs in the recent era, I also find it so shocking how few realize there was a lot of IP based attractions in early Disneyland. I would love to see one of your well researched and entertaining videos talking about the history of IP in Disneyland!
Hmmmm Just thinking here. At 2:23 how did they (the Swiss Family) get all those books off a ship stuck on a reef during a storm without them getting all wet. There was water splashing around everywhere. Fun watch, great humor......
This is a good compromise for the time being and a victory for the purists. Inclusion of the Swissapolka will be a massive victory. I maintain the treehouse will officially be fully "Swiss Family Robinson" again one day.
Brilliant! Genius! Acting! Dr. D, you did guess this. And I was 93.7% sure about it too! I am also expecting an 'offhand' SEA reference in the plot of the new SFR series or movie coming up soon-like. Mayhaps a bit more than just a reference... much more! Kungaloosh!
Same. Also, I wonder what they’re going to do with the Tarzan statues that were in the treehouse. If they decide to auction them off that’d be cool. I for one would love to have those statues in my home considering that my favorite Disney movie is Tarzan.
Imagine if this was the beginning of a non-ip renaissance for disney… it would bring disney parks back to grace. I have forever wanted a lumberjack ride in the pacific northwest, not splash mountain or big thunder but something else entirely. Native American architecture, lumberjack animatronics, etc. Anyways, i’m just rambling
i was so excited when i saw this would be a return of a classic and also a new original idea with real creativity. i really thought we would just get an ip of whatever was most popular this year.
I'm not too surprised it's reverting to the public domain property Swiss Family Robinson. I would have been more surprised if Disney had continued to pay ERB Inc. for using the Tarzan trademark. Speaking of public domain properties and tree houses, how have we avoided a Disney version of ACD's Lost World up until now?
i honestly thought they were gonna tear down tarzan's treehouse and I'm so happy its becoming something new. Tarzan's treehouse will live forever in my heart tho
Funny he should mention Joe Rohde since the whole SEA thing, reminds me of the Explorer's Club and I saw Rohde in his new guise with Virgin Galactic on Josh Gates show about the Explorer's club because of course the man with the disturbing ear would be a member.
See, I don’t think we as a community could ask for anything better. This very well may be Disney’s short-term response to the insane amount of complaints coming from the community about rides and attractions using IP to carry themselves. This works the other way around. The Swiss Family isn’t exactly the most talked about film at the moment. I imagine the theming and overall vibe of the treehouse will wind up supporting the film, instead of the film supporting the attraction. I love it. Walk-throughs have never really been my thing, but I think if they do this one right I will feel justified in falling in love with it. It will add so much more atmosphere to Adventureland than Tarzan ever did when it was around. And that’s coming from someone who spent his childhood in Tarzan’s treehouse. I respect Disney for making this decision and I hope it gets a lot of positive feedback so they have a reason to continue making these kinds of decisions.
So it's still not going to be an accessible attraction for guests with mobility issues. I get that it would kind of be impossible to do that (and I'm not yet someone who needs mobility help yet), but I'm a little disappointed that it's not as inclusive for those guests.
I was never in the camp of an Encanto tree house. I didn’t know what it might be but I was pretty sure it wasn’t Encanto. An Encanto treehouse sounds ExPaNsIvE and Disney is allergic basically
Somehow I didn’t even know the Tarzan treehouse was gone. I don’t really care about the theme as long as there’s a treehouse because I like to see the view.
This seems like a good decision. Just having a general Adventureland Treehouse makes it more viable for the future. There's no guarantee that the Swiss Family Robinson reboot in the works will be successful. Disney lost the license for Tarzan so that's out. And other movies like Encanto are popular now but are not guaranteed to always be. Connecting it to a particular film would mean it would need another re-theme years down the line. But a general Adventureland/S.E.A. theme would always be relevant to the park.
I have absolutely zero idea what "swiss family robinson" is I thought that treehouse was built for Tarzan1999 This is also the first time I've ever heard of S.E.A. & that sounds immensely more cool than a swiss family. Would of honestly loved a mash up of S.E.A. and Atlantis: The Lost Empire2001
I 100% thought it was going to be Encanto. That said, I'm excited about this S.E.A. connection for the tree house! Also, total theory here, but I wonder if maybe Disney lost some rights to Tarzan, and maybe that is why they needed to re-theme it? Maybe the music rights contract expired and Phil Collins wanted too much money to re-new? Again, all theories here, but since they didn't go an Encanto route, it makes me wonder about why they went in a Swiss Robinson direction.
This makes me wonder, lore wise, what is Adventureland? Like Disney treats these lands in all the parks as somewhat canon, so I wonder how the original characters (SEA) fit into the other IPs.
Adventureland could be the area where the Robinson family shipwrecked. It could be the area in Africa where S. E. A. is currently exploring, who knows?
I’ve been waiting for this since I heard the news. Granted it’s been like two minutes. You’re so quick. Sooo pumped. I assumed it was going to be Encanto, which as much as I love I wasn’t thrilled about. I just want more SEA in the parks so I too am giddy

Most people are probably going to just call it the Swiss Family Robinson treehouse anyways, but I think if they wanted to have SEA in there, they should have just done it. Or maybe just make the family part of the SEA. It's weird how they're creating this new family that's "not" the Robinson family, but... basically is. If anything, why not make it the Falls' Family treehouse? We know Albert Falls has a family, and he seems like the type of guy to live in a tree, so why not? Idk. I'm not sure if I'm satisfied but I'm somewhat optimistic. Still pretty confused though.
While I’m sad it’s not an Ecanto’s house or a straight up Swiss Family Robinson treehouse, I’m very glad it’s not IP branded. Yeah it’s sort of inspired by SFR but it feels fresh and original. Also I think they’re keeping it vague for now because Disney is working on rebooting SFR and a S.E.A. streaming series. If either one of those get made I’m sure the Adventure Land Treehouse is going to get an easy skim. Also it will be very easy to overlay Lion King & Encanto for their anniversary. So I think it was a right decision to keep it original.
do you think they will freshen up the WDW one too? Do you think it has something to do with the Swiss Family Robinson tv show? Do you think Disney is slowly expanding on S.E.A visibility in the parks for a movie/show? Kinda like they did with the Jungle Cruise movie?

Here's a question. How do we not know this isn't the treehouse to feature in the new Disney+ Swiss Family Robinson? "Inspired by Walt Disney's Swiss Family Robinson" indeed.
that's what i was thinking too
This is the first time that Disney has EVER gone back to their original idea for an attraction not counting sequel attractions.
I guess that Under New Management back to Tiki room counts in Magic Kingdom
Captain EO did make a comeback.
Captain EO only came back temporarily, not that I'm against a more permanent installation like this.
I was worried that it would turn into an open air shop under tree house and then close the treehouse in the name of accessibility (like they did all the other Disneyland tree houses).
I am pretty happy that they are mostly restoring to an older configuration but I wonder how the traffic flow will work without the stump.
Remember: there was an S.E.A. Disney+ series that was suppose to air.
Don't know how far along it is but it was still in production last I heard :)
Can’t get enough of that sweet, sweet SEA
I'm always a bit sad to see things change, but I think the major part of that is not really being able to say "goodbye" to those things. Im honestly realy sad I have to say goodbye to Tarzan's Tree house but BOY AM I EXITED FOR THIS!!!
Just pointing out that Everest isn't the newest non-IP attraction. That would be Mystic Manor which opened in 2013.
SEA is a great non-IP attraction theme
I assume they mean in the US parks .
I was shocked and also SO HAPPY!
So happy about this! I also come here with a request though for my favorite Disneyland historian. I would love to see a video from you about IP based attractions from opening day/60s era Disneyland! If you never went to Tarzan’s treehouse, does it even exist? Ok. It did. i’ve seen pictures. For me it didn’t. Swiss Family Robinson forever.
Hmmmm Just thinking here. At 2:23 how did they (the Swiss Family) get all those books off a ship stuck on a reef during a storm without them getting all wet. There was water splashing around everywhere. Fun watch, great humor......

I'm glad they're keeping the Swiss Family theme. That's possibly one of the best movies ever made.
This is actually pretty big. This is the first IP-less attraction Disney has built in a LONGG time!
The pictures on the bamboo fence remind me of the campsite from Tarzan
Same. Also, I wonder what they’re going to do with the Tarzan statues that were in the treehouse. If they decide to auction them off that’d be cool. I for one would love to have those statues in my home considering that my favorite Disney movie is Tarzan.
I am so excited! My vote/guess was for some kind of Swiss Family mixed with S.E.A. and it happened!!!
Imagine if this was the beginning of a non-ip renaissance for disney… it would bring disney parks back to grace. I have forever wanted a lumberjack ride in the pacific northwest, not splash mountain or big thunder but something else entirely. i honestly thought they were gonna tear down tarzan's treehouse and I'm so happy its becoming something new. Tarzan's treehouse will live forever in my heart tho
I wonder if each little "pod" area will be a tribute to various Adventureland stuff. One for SEA, for for SFR, one for etc etc
At this moment, I'm drinking a melon frosty fanta in your honor. Love the channel!
I have come from the future. “Connected” is the understatement of the century.
This is the best possible outcome I’m stoked!
Funny he should mention Joe Rohde since the whole SEA thing, reminds me of the Explorer's Club and I saw Rohde in his new guise with Virgin Galactic on Josh Gates show about the Explorer's club because of course the man with the disturbing ear would be a member.
I’m so impressed by the speed of not only the video but of the thumbnail too lol

It would be neat if they had meet and greet characters there.
Yas!!!! More S.E.A!!! So excited!!!
“Muppets Haunted Mansion” should be an overlay and WDW. 😂
Happy happy, Joy joy, Happy Happy Joy Joy! I KNEW they wouldn't do Encanto!!!! It made NO sense!!!! The magic is back baby!!!
I wish Disney would build more non IP attractions for their parks.
Hell yeah. The treehouse has been ruined since it went Tarzan. It removed the magic, grit, and immersion and made it look and feel cartoony.
Awesome something to look forward to Swiss Family Robinson 👨👩👧👦
I thought the treehouse would be Encanto, but I’m happy we get more SEA lore.
This gives me hope for Disneyland
Incredibly bold choice to not have be Encanto, but rather paying homage to the old treehouse. Good work Disney.
So it's still not going to be an accessible attraction for guests with mobility issues. I get that it would kind of be impossible to do that (and I'm not yet someone who needs mobility help yet), but I'm a little disappointed that it's not as inclusive for those guests.

So happy 😊 Swiss family treehouse was my favorite 😍
SUPER excited! NEXT UP: Bringing the PeopleMover back to DL! We can do it!!!
Can't wait for more Treehouse SEA lore theories.
Somehow I didn’t even know the Tarzan treehouse was gone. I don’t really care about the theme as long as there’s a treehouse because I like to see the view.
I had assumed it was going to be a zipline to Galaxy's Edge. Talk about surprised!
I am so disappointment that it is not the Tron Treehouse I was hoping for. 😪🧐😓
Woohoo!! A fine choice indeed.
This seems like a good decision. Just having a general Adventureland Treehouse makes it more viable for the future. Would of honestly loved a mash up of S.E.A. and Atlantis: The Lost Empire2001
my dogs bark whenever i play the offhand news intro outloud lol
"The microphone is working"
*microphone instantly stops working*
You know I ran here right. As soon as I saw no IP I was like great scott Offhand did it, the crazy bastard did it lol.
MAN! This just dropped today!
You are on it like the Mouse is on money!
I 100% thought it was going to be Encanto. That said, I'm excited about this S.E.A. connection for the tree house!

Is it bad that I thought about you as soon as they announced it 😂
This makes me wonder, lore wise, what is Adventureland?
Like Disney treats these lands in all the parks as somewhat canon, so I wonder how the original characters (SEA) fit into the other IPs.
Adventureland could be the area where the Robinson family shipwrecked. It could be the area in Africa where S. E. A. is currently exploring, who knows?
@@araanimations It's amalgamation of all wild jungles.
I’ve been waiting for this since I heard the news. Granted it’s been like two minutes. You’re so quick.
Sooo pumped. I assumed it was going to be Encanto, which as much as I love I wasn’t thrilled about. I just want more SEA in the parks so I too am giddy
I was on the side that we'd get the Encanto theme. It really just made sense. But, i'm blown away and excited for what we're really getting! Especailly with more S.E.A. integration! I hope Disney does more going forward!
BRO YOU GETTING ME SO EXCITED!!!!!
I'm intrigued but really somewhat confused. I think they really should have gone with one or the other - not both. 5:13 I assumed the treehouse was gonna be Moana themed
This is the best news they’ve dropped in years.
I'm just happy something original is in the works.
do you think they will freshen up the WDW one too? Do you think it has something to do with the Swiss Family Robinson tv show? Do you think Disney is slowly expanding on S.E.A visibility in the parks for a movie/show? Kinda like they did with the Jungle Cruise movie?
So Dalan, in your considered opion, what happened. Did Ron Moore's new Swiss Familiy Robinson get the axe, or is Disney hedging their bets against it? If it fails, OK. If it succeeds, well, that's an easy re-theme.
I had heard something about them theming the tree house to TRON :)
Losing Tarzan is a travesty
Disney need to scrap plans for Zootopia/Moana in Animal Kingdom and just upgrade the existing Dinoland, giving it a S.E.A. theme... steampunk, time-travel, dinosaurs... what more could you ask for?
I had absolutely no predictions for what I thought they were going to do, but I wanted a return to the OG Swiss Family Robinson treehouse, so I'm very happy that they're (at least at this juncture) using the origin as a basis for a return. I was super disappointed first time I went to Disneyland and saw the treehouse had been replaced with a Tarzan theme... it just felt so.... boring by comparison. Like ok, there was speakers sending relevant sounds, but the bit of characters and sets were so lifeless by comparison to the Swiss Family Robinson treehouse. OG treehouse felt lived-in, like all the little nooks and sets with all the pieces told such an interesting story and I loved going through it even as an ADD-riddled child.
Does this mean a Swiss family reboot? With unsettling photo realistic cgi?
I'm glad it's not Encanto.
does anyone know were i can send Offhand Disney fanmail
I thought they were going to make seating for Fantasmic
The second I heard this news I thought about how you were probably going crazy
did your microphone break? 40 seconds in the sound completely changes
If you squint, S.F.R. kind of looks like S.E.A.
The fact that they're taking a tree house that has been based on IPs since the start and turning it into a non IP based, original attraction tells me either Bob Chapek wasn't paying attention with treehouse ideas and didn't care or we're getting Adventureland Treehouse: THE MOVIE, starring Johnny Depp and The Rock in 2025.
I’m happy. I was worried it would be encanto
honestly if they get rid of the one in disney world for encanto I think that would be a good move
what is S.E.A?
The mic may be working again, but the sound dropped badly
I know it’s off topic but Orlando got a XFL team so I wonder if Disney will get involved with them if the league takes off
If something is forgotten enough it becomes not IP
IVE BEEN SAYING THIS EVER SINCE TARZAN WENT DOWN LETS GOOOOO
S.E.A-dventureland treehouse
I think Disney should do the same thing they’re doing with the MCU, that for every movie or series cannon in the universal timeline it appears as part of the watch series. The same should be done with S.E.A. media and characters that connect in the DCU. 😂
I DEMAND THE SWISSKAPOLKA!
So relieved it’s not the Encrappo treehouse. Worst Disney songs ever.
