“You have escaped Tron’s game grid for now users...” then cut right back to the elevator muzak. So awesome!!!! THIS was and still is my Tomorrowland! Thank you for the video.
I honestly have a crush on Corey Burton's evil computer voice. (I also have a crush on a very similar non-Disney role of his, Brainiac.)
I consider that elevator music to be the evil computer virus's "theme song." I was only 6 when I rode this visiting from Japan in 1994.
Younger generation won’t ever realize how cool this ride was: best memories ever with my Grandparents!! 😞💓
Gen Z is too busy worrying about their genders and pronouns to appreciate literally anything.
@dobees 818 Ohhh, noooo... someone who gets their propaganda from Fox "news". Grow up.
OMG you are so right. I haven't been up there in twenty years unfortunately because of health issues I would have to do a wheelchair if I were to ever go up there again but in the meantime yes I remember the old people mover I remember the old Captain Nemo the old carousel and whenever I look through these little video clips I always say show me from the 1990s oh yes and pirates of the Caribbean used to be better, now it seems like just a waste of space
I loved the noise that used to make on the tracks also
Still my favorite ride!!
They should just revamp the Peoplemover. The track has been there for ages unused. It's a Walt Disney classic.
This is (was) one of my all-time favorite rides. That said, to bring the ride back would mean to restructure it entirely (including the buildings it goes through) in order to comply with the Americans With Disabilities Act. If they'd've left it running, it would have been grandfathered...but somebody had the bright idea of Rocket Rods.
I think the best window of opportunity for a complete overhaul, is when Star Wars Land officially opens. Yes, a complete update of Tomorrowland. It will be well past time for the next "1967" or "1998".
That should include an all new People Mover, and something better for the circle theater building. When S-W-L opens, I would divert guest traffic in its direction. Then, bite the bullet and close off the T-L area, excluding the Submarine Voyage and Monorail. Get out the big machines and tools, and get to work. It will benefit the park greatly in the long run.
5keeper7ful I just wish they brought back the retrofuturistic style of Tomorrowland. It looks way more futuristic than the 1995 new Tomorrowland. Doesn't feel like the future. :P
The reason why they cant bring it back is because the tracks are, in essence, structurally unsafe. This is because in the late 90s, they converted it to Rocket Rods, which was a semi-fast ride. Not only was the ride a failure, but it put so much stress on the tracks that they had no choice but to abandon it. The infrastructure runs through too many buildings within Tomorrowland and overall would be hard to demolish and remake, unless you would be willing for them to close down the Tomorrowland section of a park for at least a couple years (which I don't think is ideal). However, I do wish that they kept the Peoplemover, but I understand why we cant have it.
@Akira Fudo I think the other major reason they won't bring back the people mover is it didn't see much use. It was my favorite ride. But part of the reason it was my favorite is it never had a line. For years, I would go on the ride and it would be literally just me and my mom. During the entire time, you wouldn't see any other person on the ride in any of the other cars (much like most of this video). Everyone would rather stand in a long line to ride Space Mountain or Autopia or Monorail than go on this totally open ride. There's also the idea that an earthquake could strand people on the ride. And the monumental cost of refurbishing the tracks. But hey, if they'll keep stuff like monorail and splash mountain, those aren't really good reasons.
Of course, that doesn't mean I'm giving up advocating for its return. They need to bring it back just for me! Gimme gimme gimme! What confuses me is that other attractions like Circle Vision were always packed, but they took that out.
I have a deep respect for archivists who record things knowing that one day their footage will be so interesting and valuable!
This was back in a time when you could stand at the end of Tomorrowlandland see everything moving. Rocket jets, Autopia cars, skyway buckets, monorail trains, peoplemover cars, submarines and the carousal theater. It was very kinetic.
Yes! It really was something special.
Nice to back in time every once in a while.
For some strange reason, the instrumental music to the now-defunct Peoplemover at Disneyland has always reminded me of the 1967 hit record by the Fifth Dimension 'Up, Up and Away in My Beautiful Balloon.' As a matter of fact, the Peoplemover was my personal favorite ride at Disneyland.
Mine too❗👍
I loved this ride. Please bring this ride back, it was so nice and relaxing.
Yup.
Me love people mover. 😍
Did you know Eisner axed it just because of this? He didn't want someplace for people to just six and relax.
@@TheTiktok4321 :( no more people mover
@@cocoaman1564 there is talk of its return.
This is one of the BEST peoplemover videos out!
I really miss those vintage days at Disneyland. Classic narration and unique attractions! You are missed Mr Disney.
As I am only 13, I have never been able to ride the people mover but unlike my family, whenever we visit I find myself staring in awe at the abandoned tracks, wondering where they lead. After many visits and about 4 years of observing these tracks and finding little bits here and there, watching this gave me chills. Geez, I love this. Also BRING BACK THE PEOPLEMOVER PLEEEEAAASE
Such a relaxing ride. I always liked the retro, outdated feel of it too. R.I.P. Peoplemover.
WOW! Man I miss this attraction. They really need to figure out how to bring this back.
the foundation for a lot of the supports is compromised, would need a ground up rework
OK, I’m sold. It’s time to bring it back, to Disneyland. Disney World spent a lot of money, and about a year of downtime, to rebuild their PeopleMover. It’s Disneyland’s turn.
Huge thank you for making this retrospective piece on the Peoplemover...my favorite ride at Disneyland as a child!
Ken Hayashida I loved it as well. It was the best when your feet were tired and I I just loved overlooking the rides.
I would want the superspeed tunnel back too. Maybe TRON Legacy?
The People Mover was a ride you got on because the line was never long, and the goal of any kid at Disneyland was to get on as many rides as possible.
BRING BACK THE PEOPLEMOVER DISNEY!!!
+Cutelatinguy2 didn't it kill two people XD (well they killed themselves)
Ed D I'm sure at some point there probably were some people who didn't obey the safety instructions
and got hurt or maybe killed.
+Cutelatinguy2
DITTOS!
Cutelatinguy2
Yes, at two people got killed on the Peoplemover....I read that in Mouse Tales-an excellent book that details the trials and tribulations of Disneyland...there was a sequel too-
3:22, ohhhhh man. I miss that arcade. On a hot or crowded day it was neat to go hang out in there.
I'd play Galaga and some car racing game that you would sit in and steer, it had a turbo boost, but I can't remember what it was called. Probably something obvious like "Turbo Booster." LOL
OMG!!! I miss this!!! Almost made me cry!!!

"I AM Krypton..."@@kellyweingart3692
Ohhhh the feels!!! I literally imagined being young again sitting next to my family members on this attraction. Take me back!!!
Growing up in the 70’s, this is what Disneyland will always be to me. Low crowds , rides like the people mover, simplicity at its best. No two hour waits to get on a ride because “AP’s or KeyHolders” made the park experience terrible. Hope they bring back this slow moving, relaxing ride!
This never gets old
Thank u so much, u took me back to my childhood in the 80’s - such a good time!!! I can’t believe the peoplemover is gone 😢
To this day, Monorail is my favorite ride. It was the best ride to get away from the crowds and just relax for a bit. Never waited more than 20 minutes to get on (and that was on a busy day). This takes me back. Im sad for kids today that will never know this.
This was better than any roller coaster ride to me.
The People Mover was my favorite ride at Disneyland, especially at night. You didn't need a bucking roller coaster experience to enjoy the ride around Tomorrowland. I really miss that experience.
This is so cool and very nostalgic! I miss the People Mover. I’m guessing this was filmed sometime in the early 90s due to the Disney Afternoon decor along the pathway towards Small World. Wish they’d bring People Move back along with the Skyway to Disneyland
One of the golden videos on UA-cam! Thank you for sharing!
6:19 That cute lil '60s instrumental music puts my soul at ease.
4:48 WARNING!!! You have invaded the electronic realm of the master computer program! Prepare for the game grid of TRON!
I _AM_ KRYPTON
Man the Tron section was soooo cheesy! Loved it! So glad I got to "experience" it.
Corey Burton as an evil AI
I grew up with the Magic Kingdom Peoplemover and it’s still one of my favorites, so sad that Disneyland doesn’t have it anymore because this track seems so much more interesting. Would love to see it back someday
I sure do miss the peoplemover I always ran for my own car so i could stretch out and enjoy, thanks for the amazing journey down memory lane

@@MrMywildside Only if they keep Corey Burton's iconic villainous computer voice. (This time make it closer to another iconic evil AI role of his... hint: Krypton)
Thanks for allowing us to visit old memories! Man, I miss the Peoplemover, and that Starcade!
Thank you for taking the time to put this together! Took me right back to some very happy times of my youth!
"Paging Mr Tom Morrow" This is a cool little nod to Flight to the Moon.
love the peoplemover! i was at disneyland in april of '81, '82, and '83. this brings back really fond memories for me. i remember digging the music then and i still love it now. it's got that whole "baa, ba-ba-ba, ba-baa" sixties-optimistic-about-the-future sound to it.
... and I'm right back at my childhood. Much, much love.
That was awesome. I think the newer rides are more fun, but there was something about the sit-and-chill rides. I miss the Skyway a lot. I also miss the Rocket Jets being as high as they were. And I think the sleek white look to the Land was better than what they have now.
Thank you for posting this! My childhood friend and I use to laugh so hard at the music. So MUZAK and so 70s even though they kept using it well into its last days
My favorite ride as a child in the 70s. 🥰
Bring it back!
How I miss those good ‘ol days! I remember the People Mover pre-Tron. I also remember those other rides like Circlevision and the rest. 😌
Classic. Wonderful memories! One of my favorite attractions ever.
audio is the BEST!!
This was so great to see! I never experienced this or the skyway buckets, but love both systems. Monorail too. Thank you. :)
I LOVED that 3D mural in CircleVision. It moved too. Miss it

Great job! Fantastic and beautiful...very happy to see this on UA-cam!
One minor nit-pick is that this audio clip is from the 1980's because Star Tours opened in 1987.
The original Peoplemover ride toured the person past Adventures in Inner Space and then included Space Mountain when that ride opened in May 1977.
We both agree that this is great - but I don't understand your nit-pick. This is not about the original people mover - but the 80's version, unless the video has been edited and re-posted since 3 months ago.
The 80's version only included Star Tours after 1987. Therefore, for most of the 80's the tour on PeopleMover was slightly different because StarTours was originally the Monsanto ride into Inner Space. As I wrote, it's a MINOR nit-pick.
Thats a cool video, thankyou for that, it brought back alot of memories from when I was there in 88 !!!! I remember the Tron and Star Tours section to this day, that is what stood out for me all those years ago as I celebrated my 10th birthday there !!!!
One of my most favorite rides ever!
Linds, I had left a message SOMEPLACE during this Disney-music-listening craze, asking about the Peoplemover......we ALL loved that! Thanks for sending!
Wow, this video brings back memories
This ride along with the skyway are two rides i wished Disney would have tried to save. I never got to experience these rides but still enjoy watching old videos of them.
I grew up in Orange County. Went to Disneyland a few times growing up. This is my favorite era of Disneyland I love and will never forget.
Love the video! I miss the Peoplemover!
We loved this ride! We would get our snacks & kick back for a little time out. It was also the best place to watch the fireworks & then catch the monorail back to the hotel. Disney had a master transportation plan for around the park & between lands. That’s all gone now.
Great video and soundtrack. Brings me back. Now DL is just too crowded. Still a great time. They NEED to bring this ride back.
Thanks for the memories! This was all so familiar. As a teen, I spent a lot of time in Tomorrowland watching a band called Polo play at the Tomorrowland Terrace. I went on The PeopleMover as well as The Adventure Through Innerspace many more times than most people would because they never had long lines. I also regularly saw Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln regularly for the same reason. I still make my kids see Mr. Lincoln when we visit.
I miss this thing....
Very nicely done actually. Good audio quality, and I enjoyed the various shot angles from the same spot along the PM route. Thank you!
This is really nostalgic. Since I was born in 1980, all of my childhood DL trips involved the People Mover. It's silly to say this but it was my favorite ride.
It was such a great way to break up the day and have a relaxing tour experience. Then you always felt rejuvenated with a second wind to take on the park again after. I was genuinely saddened when they decided to close it down.
This is way better than Floridas version! Bring back the peoplemover at D23 in August
Before Tron, it was the Superspeed Tunnel, with racing cars speeding by you. The Captain Eo pretty much sets the date stamp on this ride, about 1983-84, i guess. Everybody misses the original Peoplemover. They should rebuild it and connect both parks, with embarcable/reboarding stations. And get rid of two admissions., combine the oarks
The main video that this video sourced was from Mr. DIsneyfanman. His video was from 1990, & Star Tours opened in 1987. The Peoplemover cars were given their gray with the small color stripe paint job in 1987 when Star Tours opened. The Peoplemover & Skyway were my two favorite attractions at Disneyland. I was at Disneyland in 1994 for the Skyway's last day of operation, & 1993 respectively for the Motorboat Cruise!😥
Hello from Phoenix Arizona❗🔥
I love this, I just wish it could be full screen
I wish it was back at Disneyland!
Wow! Thanks so so much for this! What memories! Probably 1983-84?
I was thinking 90-92.
You are awesome for posting this!! Thank you!
This was one of my favorite things to do at Disney land I really wish they would bring it back it would be a very big help to handle the crowds and be a great way to see and learn about what there is to do at Disney land.
bring it back to the 21st century with 60's style and design
Old is gold.
I loved the People Mover!! The crowds would come if it was there. You have to remember back when it was operational there were less people in the park and visitors only came maybe once a year. Now look how crowded Tomorrowland is!! And yes due to Rocket Rods the whole track would have to be re-built.
I always wanted to see what Rocket Rods was all about, but it was never operational when I would visit.
So fun to relive!
Wow... this brings back so many good memories! I remember that I especially loved the tron part! 😎👍
Hopefully they bring this ride back, along with the others like the sky tram thing and the submarines!
I miss this ride so much!
We just got back from our first trip to DL, we are a WDW family, and I was in awe at the deteriorating PM track. I love the TTA in DW and seeing such a sad looking track made me really want to ride it. Watching this video makes me believe that the PM, in its prime, was amazing! 😢
I would give anything to go back in time and experience old Disneyland
Awesome video. Music appears to be from Walt Disney World Peoplemover soundtrack, but overall a great blast from the past. Thanks for posting
This music was the soundtrack heard aboard Disneyland's PeopleMover attraction for many years. The spoken narration changed from time to time, but the music was always consistent.
There were speakers throughout Tomorrowland that played the music for ambience. In the late 80's, I sat by one of the speakers and tape recorded the whole thing. This music is different than that.
By "different" I mean only a couple movements are different. It's about 85% the same.
I love this. It took me back.
That's cool. I didn't know the Disneyland version went through Space Mountain too. I thought that was unique to the Magic Kingdom version.
It was modified to go through Space Mountain in 1977.
I just have a hard time believing that Disney doesn't have the resources to fix this track and bring back the people mover!
It's obvious why they don't have the resources. Due to laws and safety standards that have been introduced since Disney stopped operating the track, it would be illegal and dangerous to reopen it. They would have to demolish the track (which would also require them to demolish every building in Tomorrowland as the track is embedded into the buildings), build new track that complies with the new standards and then rebuild the demolished buildings. This would take a very long to complete and would force Disney to close all of Tomorrowland for just as long.
oh they definitely have the resources, their priorities are more focused on tearing down splash mountain to please a small percent of its guest...
please bring this ride back. i loved the differenrt colored cars. It was a wonderful place to chill out.
The arcade at Space Mountain! 🥰
8:59 - the start of the most violent 10 seconds of any ride at Disneyland. But I loved it!
Damn I miss old Disneyland
It was at its peak here. I miss it so.
Thank you for giving me back my youth - Florida is awesome but not the same ❤
How could Disney get rid of a iconic ride... Bring it back and throw in that 1960s vibe ..the people mover existed at a time when magic was allowed to happen.
Imagine this redone with augmented reality headsets. Would be brilliant.
Imagineers please bring this great attraction back
Honestly they could bring back the People Mover. Would it close Tomorrowland for a couple of years? Yes, but honestly it’s time to give Tomorrowland a huge make over again.
It used to be quite thrilling to be in open-air compartments while cars 🚗 boats 🚣♀️ monorail 🚝 , skyway buckets and submarines moved about you. It will not be back, too expensive to put emergency exits every 100’ or so and would look awful 😞. I got that straight from a Disney employee. I miss it too. Well done 👍🏻
Wow!!
Definitely miss this ride
Damn how much I miss my childhood, The 70s living in the San Gabriel Valley was great. Pasadena & Alhambra to be exact. Summers were F-ing awesome, dog days of Summer were the best, Ridding RTD (#266 bus line) down Rosemead BL to Seal Beach were the best, Then there's Disneyland, we would take turns having parents drop us off at 9am then picking us up at 12 midnight in the summer, best part is we were able to go with $20. and that was enough to get in, buy food AND get one of those super size suckers that took a week to eat. Although SoCal has changed so much, I have moved to Henderson NV for early retirement. But my heart & memories will always take me back to SoCal in the late 70.
Great video, thanks! I rode this as a kid, but I sure don't remember it!
Well done Sr! This used to be one of my favorite rides as a kid. Still bummed they took it out and I can't take my kids on it.
+Mike Sly There's always the one in Tomorrowland at WDW.
This footage took place between late 1987 and Monday, November 2, 1992.
I really miss this ride 😢 ...today the track & loading/unloading zone still sits above Tomorrowland as a reminder of a forgotten attraction
About 9:20 is music (again around 11:15) which reminded me of GO GO GOODYEAR, which was I think, the original presenter of The People mover.......such a nifty attraction that WAS.....
