- Communities in North Carolina are sifting through the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. About 30 people on the Asheville area were killed and a majority of the town was underwater over the weekend.

I read a comment here and I didnt even think 😢about Nursing Homes... I sure hope the old folks in the Nursing Homes are ok..

The big issue with many of these storms or fires are the people who believe they can ride it out. They believe they are saving their property or it won't be that bad, but it's not worth their life. Then these same people get upset when crews can't get to them.
And I’ve seen people on here asking where’s Fema, where’s help when it’s been like 24 hours. This is why they say to have a supply of food and water, cash on hand, full tank of gas, etc.

Ashville, NC in 2018 at huge rally said they didn't need federal funding to help them. All those funds were to be given to migrate families so as not to be separated. You asked your funds to go elsewhere, now follow your decisions ya made when decrying Trunk.

If your insurance company says they won't pay you to get your home fixed, you need to see this. This just came out on 60min. It's happening in many states by several companies. I'm not surprised, they gave your money to politicians.

@@watchgoose I'm sorry but I am NOT an owner so I can't feel the pain of sumone wit the money to get thru the storm and just lose a few bucks as opposed to the people who ain't got the means that the 'owner' has and they perished because of it..
I stand for people not corporations..is that OWNER out in the community tryna help the people who are 'financially' beneath him/her..I HIGHLY doubt it..

Not all businesses are corporations. There are plenty of small business owners that are barely making a living. And if their business fails many times their insurance will not even cover a fraction of the cost it would take to rebuild when they are a small business owner. Businesses also employ people, and without jobs most people can’t pay their bills even for one month.
In order to buy things... you need businesses. Ashville isnt full of corporations. Without local businesses open you cannot get things you need. Are you being intentionally obtuse or just that ignorant about how society and small towns operate?

It is stunning how much mud shifted into houses and the amount of small pieces of wood floating in masses. Truly life altering for millions of good people.
I am English and live in Italy in the Emilia Romagna region. We have had terrible floods on and off in the last 16 months. I am so sorry for you guys. It is a tragedy 💔💔
News constantly runs clips of Biltmore Village area without mentioning that part of town floods every time there is a few inches of rain. So many more people outside of Ashville are devastated and we're not talking about their art businesses either. Fortunately my family members west of Asheville are ok, but like so many others are on their own.
This is katrina level of destruction. I lived in a FEMA trailer for exactly two years before i was aboe to move back into my home from Katrina damage.

If all these Jeep clubs do this Traverse trail riding, why can’t they use these forest service roads to access these areas? These off-road trails run all through the mountains on the east coast from state to state and across this country, so why can’t these roads be used to get help to these people? If we can clear roads of trees and other debris to ride these trails then we can do the same to get help to certain areas, just an idea.
I'm sure they are, actually. I don't drive a Jeep, but a heavily modded Subaru, and in my neck of the woods, up north, it's snow/blizzard emergencies. I, and many others, always respond. My winch, recovery gear, chain saw and lots of other gear hit the roads when the SHTF here.

It would also dismantle NOAA & privatize weather forcasting , which could result in storm warnings being a premium paid for 'extra' service at whatever cost they would decide to charge for it.
Which would inevitably result in greater destruction of property & loss of lives by those unable or unwilling to pay for such a service.
