My heart goes to the people of Boone. May God ease the challenges you have faced. I am from Uzbekistan, Central Asia. I had a chance to stay in your beautiful town for more than a month and I fell in love with it. I am sure it will become as beautiful and lively as it was before.
God bless them all! We had horrible flooding where I grew up in PA back in 1996. Until you've seen and lived it for yourself, you just can't begin to describe the feeling of helplessness.
I lived in these apartments during the 2017 Flood in Boone, NC, and was fortunate to dodge the bullet with that flood. Yet, many weren't and were forced to move out after that flood, because the water did a lot of damage to these apartments. I don't know why Boone refuses to take any countermeasures to prevent this problem but allows more and more real estate and buildings to continue building along the Boone and Winkler Creeks.
Yeah, this is bringing back horrible memories. My son was in one of the Bavarian Village flooded apts in 2017. What a complete mess. Little did we know when they hit us with a flood release form on move in day that this happens way more than we ever expected. They need to scrap them and rebuild all of those on stilts.
@@keithraker1122 I do agree it's a complete mess and they need to rebuild the apartments altogether, but that's going to cost more than they're willing to invest. The problem, imho, resides with the city / county doing little to nothing on mitigating the flooding issue, but letting more places build along these creeks. There's no emergency spillway or levees built in the city to help deter this problem.

They are two different appropriations and relief was already approved to be sent before the hurricane even hit so that there would be no delays in applying for these states. I pray that you are no affected by the damages, and if you are, then I pray for speedy relief and recovery for you. But stirring up anger and angst for political reasons at a time like this benefits no one. People need to know that they are not alone and not forgotten, and help will continue to come in.
Don’t forget the nearly 100 billion being spent on the illegals too. They get free housing , health care, welfare, in state tuition and can fly and drive insurance free. But you…you get $750. Yay!!!
WASHINGTON - FEMA and federal, state, community and voluntary partners continue providing resources to aid response efforts across the Southeast as survivors begin recovering from Hurricane Helene. More than 3,500 personnel from across the federal workforce are deployed and supporting Hurricane Helene response efforts across the impacted states - more than 1,000 are from FEMA. Across the impacted states, FEMA has shipped over 1.9 million Meals Ready to Eat (MREs), more than 1 million liters of water, 30 generators and over 95,000 tarps.
The applications for emergency disaster relief that the governors of these states wisely submitted ahead of time were also approved and signed immediately by President Biden. The people who have been impacted by this disaster would be better served if they were told the truth…That help is and will continue to be delivered by local, state, and federal governments, and by volunteers. That they are not alone and are not forgotten.

Flood water is mixed with sewage. And some of that furniture isn’t really washable. You can’t stick an entire couch into a washing machine. You’ll never be able to really clean out the middle of the couch.
As the other commenter mentioned, the flood water is mixed with sewage and sediments that can be toxic and requires more than a simple "throw it in the wash" to remove this problem. You don't know where that water originated or passed through.

I have never understood why "washable" furniture has to be thrown away??
Omg, because that water is contaminated with God knows what. Washing won't clean it properly.
