Admittedly Kashtira format is pretty dreadful atm. But modern YGO is isn't. But the current state of YGO is actually infinitely better than old school. Old school took no skill, was slow, simple and boring. It was also very 1 dimensional. Hence why I said if he wanted to turn his brain off just go play uno.
If there is one thing I learned when I got back into playing paper yugioh it’s that the part that’s cut off is them sitting down and the returning player getting a bunch of modern DM cards and a breakdown of new mechanics. My first time I played returning to paper I had a scrapped together deck made up of random bulk I found at the OTS. I took 3rd that night out of 11 people and it’s how I got the nickname junkman. I legit just didn’t have my mannadium deck done yet hence the scrap deck. The one thing that stopped me from placing higher that night is I didn’t understand some of the mechanics and others helped me understand it quick and simple after the local.
Same I came back after stopping after GX abd it feels like they have massively overdone it with trying to keep the game fresh. Wayyyy to many special summons and negates. Really not worth coming back to it and spending the slightest amount of money. Any other known card game and it's corresponding online platform is a much better experience.
@@michaelq4965 depends if you spent time thinking or actually making moves. I played against my older brother whos recently been playing Yu-Gi-Oh this past year. I recently bought him underworld goddess and other cards for his birthday. I dont understand the cards but they looked cool. I finally gave in and played a match with him. He linked summoned/searched/played all this crazy stuff. I told him "okay imma scoop. Dont ask me to play anymore."
@michaelm8529 idk about that. In some ways powercreep is inevitable as there's only so many combonation of letters you can write on cards, but at the same time magic the gathering has been going for longer and has suffered less from it so its certainly possible to mitigate. Heck in mtg the vintage format is way more powerful than the modern format and most of that difference power level comes from older cards. Technically speaking outside of some edge cases most card types have gotten weaker in more recent sets, except creatures which were trash in the first sets XD.
@@dumatrising2421 difference being that other card games have energy at their core so there's a universal limit. Pot of greed can exist in other games because of the limitations to the systems in the game. In Yu-Gi-Oh it's broken. Broooo that’s exactly like me when you haven’t played Yu Gi Oh in ages and then your opponent does all kind of stuff just to summon 2/3 monsters on his side 🤷🏻♂️💀
It used to be WORSE. For a while, a lot of decks were built around a 0 turn kill - you choose to go second, then activate the effects of cards in your hand to do a bunch of stuff to beat your opponent during _their_ turn. And if it wasn't that, it was all Lockdown decks that would prevent the opponent from playing Spells and Traps, using Monster Effects. attacking, summoning, or literally doing anything other than forfeiting the game.
@@OtakuUnitedStudio There's no possible way to ZTK and you never have been able to. I'm guessing you're talking about Firewall format, the year and a half time period after SPYRAL format and before TOSS where various ways to FTK with Firewall dragon was the only thing anyone was doing. But it's impossible to ZTK other than opening Exodia, as almost all burn and draw cards can only be activated on your turn. Even if you hypothetically summoned 3 Blaze Phoenix on your opponent's first turn using the Tear cards you wouldn't be able to activate their effects so you still would lose.

Yes these new rules synchro summoning and etc what hell
This is the way
I agree with you. Yugioh was interesting until the synchro era. After that... I just didn't get the game anymore.
@@lawd.8354 Synchro era was definitely my favorite. I was not to bad with the link either, but beyond that just no for me.
This is exactly how I feel lol. People be clapping me in one turn and I just feel like I got off a roller coaster
Shits unreal how complex it got
I stopped playing in locals around 2012.. came back to the game like a few months ago. Yeeeesh it's been a task to learn all the new cards and strategies.
I attest as a returning player of a 15+ year hiatus I approve the accuracy of this video. I was literally in a duel like "when is it my turn?" "How is he summoning so many monsters?" "How can he make moves during my turn?!?" Good times. Now I'm God Tier Blackwing
Now you can make many moves during yours and their turn.
"OH cute, you're just coming back?" *plays aroma garden deck and gains 200000000000 life*
That's exactly what I did.
I saw the novel length descriptions and peaced out of the scene again lmfao.
I will always remember my bunilla but ygo is trash now
These are the MOST entertaining shorts to come across. Nail it everytime and have me dying. Your a legend Sam.
Same situation here. Never thought how everything change, like everything is new and alot of things happening in just one turn, the last thing i know was synchro summon and today there are a lot of kinds of summoning a monster.
This was actually me when i came back to play i got so comfused i ended up leaving my cards on the table and just walked away quietly 😢
Facts. I have the cards to do all these and it's just not fun for me personally. I miss old school battles. But im glad the hobby is alive and thriving. Been alot of fun collecting again now that I can afford it.
"your turn" has become the saddest thing a player could say in yugioh
And thats why i can never return to my favorite childhood hobby. Its like iv basically been Banished to the Shadow Realm.
100% the reason why I quit again lol. I absolutely cannot stand the meta in this game.
Their first turn: Summons Exodia
Woohoo
I've seen this happen please don't lollll they dead assed one turned a poor soul
You can’t win with exodia anymore lol they just changed the rules jkjk lol
I got suuuuper heated on Master Duel AT FIRST since I’m also one of those people who left in the DM/GX era lol, but once I got a feel for most of the new mechanics and built me some cool decks (Cyber Dragon/ABC and an Aesir) I can’t stop playing
i wish we could play with tcg rules to do some play testing
Those are the kind of decks I play with. Not a chance I'd go to a card shop again 😂
“I know what It does!!” 😂😂😂😂
🎉My guy just wants to Role play 🎉
“Are those OVER-SLEEVES?!”
Scoop.
"Link Summon, what is that?" 💀💀
I started playing master duel on steam a week back and last extra deck summons I knew of were synchros. I still don't understand how pendulums or links work lol. But then again I just put my brain into a box and play branded despia. 🤣👍
Og return Yu-Gi-Oh and saw synchro summon wthefu💀💀💀
Then Pendulum Summon
Naniwhathefuisthat💀💀💀💀
@@XWeedhunterX - Do the solo tutorials. They explain everything. Pendulum Summons are pretty boss!
@@stallion2907 I'm running branded despia. Seems to work for me 🤣👍
Is same as in yugioh movie when yugi look confused seeing yusei synchro summon
