I had a little stool to stand on and used to make these and measured them out with a little fancy aperitif glass, then bake and decorate with a piece of glace cherry on top (chocolate was too expensive). T Mackie Plain would be fine, no added sugar in the coconut. And also any 50-60 percent dark chocolate would be great! Just something fairly dark to balance out the sweetness.

I’ve made them both ways and both are delicious. The egg white/sugar method results in a crunchier cookie. The condensed milk version has an lighter airier texture.

I love macaroons! They are my favorite as a kid. Our macaroons usually have condensed milk in them. I should probably make some!

There definitely seems to be 2 ways of making them, with or without condensed milk
