Let me know what you thought of this video!
Gotta love the "no obnoxious music during the actual building process" and the "speed up all the tedious bits"
That way you show EVERYTHING but in a good way thats great to watch
Karine M this is why I love Taylor’s vids they are so informative
Karine M I agree! Although I do miss his music he used to used. I it was so perfect.
@Taylor Ray, Thanks for the shoutout! Glad the exhaust manifold worked out for you. Can’t wait to see the beast up and running!
You're a legend
Hell yeah brother. Good man.
A true saint
Good on you for helping.
Lol how did you get in touch with him? I tried giving him some parts a few years ago and never got a response?
Ima be honest, out of all build you have done, this is my favorite :)
I was taught to always chase the head bolt holes on the block before installing studs
Project binky has an episode where they cover the proper tool to chase threads. A tap will take metal material out of the threads. Wish I remembered what it was called.
@@rbparker4 a chaser tap or a thread chaser. You almost had it
rbparker4 It’s called a tap
I just take an old bolt and cut some slots up the threaded sides. Doesn’t take out material, and cleans well
this is the right answer
Didn’t read all 175 comments, but a trick I picked up from Matt Happle was to use a cutoff wheel on a stock bolt to make a thread chaser. You mentioned maybe chasing threads, just didn’t know if you were hip to that way.
Make sure you replace them 2 little coolant hoses under the manifold the get hard over time from the exhaust
@TaylorRay one thing I’d recommend doing is replace the front and rear main seal. Don’t want a leaky engine when you put it together and also it’s easier to do since the engine is already out!
I have been waiting on this video. My favorite series on UA-cam right now.
Normal engine builders always chase all block holes with a tap before assembly. Plus install two studs to serve as guides when installing the head.
Hell yeah man this thing is going so well so far!
Congratulations on 400k subscribers!
Yes finally, you the man kevin...... Ogs will remember when Taylor was Kevin on lzs channel.
KEVIN!!
I was there when Adam named him Kevin, but I guess I'm not og enough, because I never knew why and where it came from, I basically arrived in the middle of it.
I'm no professional, but on any head gasket job when replacing bolts with studs, I've ALWAYS done the studs to block first, then gasket, then head. Just seems better to go through one step each way than half-way through three and finishing. Also, that beepy tq wrench is dope.
That's the way I always do it I dont like squeezing the oil in between the head and block into the gasket if theres some left in there
Taylor!! You're 100% right about just getting the project knocked out and worry about the little stuff when its running and driving. I've got a 2004 GTO I'm building and have almost everything I need to get it running and driving. I want to get it done before my brother gets leave from the military in April so we can go rip it together. But I'm worried I won't have enough time because of all the little things I want to do. You've inspired me to just get it done and running so I can go make some memories with my brother. Good advice Taylor! I always appreciate your videos and knowledge
Awesome vid thanks for the quick build shots with cool sound effects and no music that cause fast forwarding of video lol
Been watching your videos for a long time now. Love the content, the editing, and the genuine passion for everything you do. Keep up the great work man.
So satisfying to have these videos playing while i do work and stuff. Just see stuff come together all in one video. FeelsGoodMan
Best build in youtube at the moment! Cant wait for the next stage.
Loving watching this build👍👍. We don't have big trucks like this in little old England ☹️. Great channel Taylor, keep up the good work 👍.
No bullshit Taylor. Out of all the builds you have done or worked on. Fummins build is by far my favorite.
Quick tech tip an old man taught me was to cover the heads with saran wrap to keep stuff from falling in an engine when the valve cover is off .
I find watching your build videos to be very relaxing.
The red looks great, This will look great in the ford. Always good work and I love your channel.
Little tip that i learned from an experienced cummins mechanic, use ether instead of brake clean when working with diesel fuel systems. Brake clean leaves a residue that ether does not! Love the build !!!
We use isopropyl alcohol in Aviation to clean electrical components give that a try for the future!
Stamp steel bent water pump is factory style. That’s why they’re prone to failure, out of every cummins I’ve owned, the only one I haven’t replaced(yet) is my 15.
Shoutout to Doug. You’re the real MVP. Most Valuable Parts guy 🤷🏽♂️
the rain on the steel roof was my favorite part:)
love the build taylor super cool to see how fast your working on it. loved the engine building parts
Can you do a review on the Milwaukee die grinders especially the right angled one compared to a pneumatic one. And if it's really worth the money for the Milwaukee one
I own a 1965 ford f 100 being that i'm in a wheel chair i had some so called mechanic help with with my truck but every time i tied to go get it he would have his with come and tell me he wasn't home, so i had to call the police to get my truck back but when i did they blew my motor and made my 3in coker white walls into slicks, ever sense then i been kind of bed bound with a colostomy bag and sick. Like all you car guys out there know the feeling of a broke down vehicle. Thank you for the video i wish you the best sir.
Cant wait to see that thing running
CONGRATS ON 400man!! Well deserved!
Dude... you Sir are knocking this build out of the park. Your creativity and ability to keep us all watching knows no bounds. No need to apologize for taking a break from this build to go drifting, well deserved! BTW, not sure I commented on Ben's build video but I know it had to have been a PITA to keep and sort through all that footage, thanks!
The one arm arp burn I know that feeling.
to clean threads like that when a normal size cleaner tap won't work: use a dremel or small grinder to cut a few slots the length of an original head bolt to clean the threads out.
Doug!!!!! you are a real one!!
I don't know who's more excited about this project. me or you
Yessss the Fummis build as started again love this build
Nice! I wish you would have changed the pushrods and valve springs right away though, because if you want to give it more boost or raise the rev limiter later, those mods are pretty much mandatory, and you're gonna have to reset your valve lash twice now... Plus if you upgrade, half inch diam. 2-piece rods, tubes and springs will only cost like 500$... Costs less than your time!
congratulations on the 400k subscribers taylor.
all the camera angles really add to the video
That water pump you put on is off a 6.7 Cummins with a plastic impeller. The stamp steel is the 5.9 design but people upgrade them to 6.7 ones it’s what I have in mine.
That looks amazing and can’t wait to see you start it up and start using it
At 9:35 Holy crap I’m impressed.
In the future you can tighten two nuts together onto a stud to remove it if you ever worry about marring a stud with vice grips lol.
David Benner put a lock washer between them, seems to work better. 👍
I would advise using studs for the manifold because I've seen people with multiple problems with leaking and especially if you wanna go compounds down the road.
Ben looks like a rock and roll Jesus.
Best cummins swap build so far keep up the great work
You’ve got me sold on the Milwaukee for grinder at this point! So useful!
17:25 good shit
The video was still loading and I already hit the like button. This build is the besssttttt.
Thanks for the exciting truck build. I was a bit disappointed you decided not to paint the engine but shrug. The red accent is pretty cool. But hey! as long as you're happy and more importantly it runs in the F350!!! It's all good, right??? maybe??? lol!
It would be sick to try to do some interior mods to the truck, like diy interior. Need some motivation to do mine
I cannot wait for the next video! I am loving this build. Your videos are the absolute best!
Those look like some nice Vice Grips! 😍
Think you and Ben need a blast cabinet 😉 and a kitchen oven for powder coating.... truck is coming along great
That came out amazing!
YES! Been waiting on this!
Love this build!
So stoked for this build. Right when I got my 3rd Gen 24V, I replaced the injectors and my feed tube for #1 injector was bent lol previous owner way over torqued it.
Your videos are stacked with great content.
Awesome work!
Taylor congratulations on 400k subs. Well deserved. So many camera angles in this video. Editing must of taken ages! Keep up the great work!
It took awhile on this one but I prefer quality of quantity.
Your video quality is phenomenal my friend , fire job! Keep it up 🔥
I pick up a thread chaser’s for every engine I build. Have most I need now for everything. Clean threads torque so much better no slipping of the stud. Tap’s are not thread chasers
EKG machine -“this mfer spittin”
So hyped for this project!
I’m pump for your new truck bruh bruh shit going to be sick!!!
Have you looked into the Fleece Coolant bypass kit? Since the engine is out of the truck now would be the best time to install it!
I cant explain why this build is so cool to me I'm not even a truck guy.
Upgraded injectors and a compound turbo set up coming next please!!!!!👍👍👍👍👍
Killer video! Really enjoying the fummins build!
I really wish you painted the block man. Would have looked amazing.
Great video 👍 those instructions look to be awesome
Love your vids taylor I subscribes And turn notifications on
Taylor, don't remove studs with vise grips. Double nut it and use a wrench.
I don't know if that will hurt the turbo studs but it's just good form and you don't want to invite a failure.
Just a little advice, put better engine mount bushings in now. I had to replace mine at 6,000 miles. The polyurethane they use isn't strong durable enough. It will collapse.
Its good practice to molly lube all the rubber gaskets. Awesome build
Great progress. Can't wait to hear it running! Definitely, your supervisor will be very proud of you! ;-)
Ready to see it finished
I love how much Taylor’s channel has taken off
The red looks good been waiting to see how it cam out I would leave that black cover off let the red be seen!
Enjoying the build. In hindsight, you could have just stripped the engine completely and cleaned the entire thing while at the same time inspecting the rotating assembly and timing for wear.
Taylor Ray at 400k! Hell yeah!
Just sumthing nice for the viewers, but whenever your working with torque specs it will be nice to call how much in video, never know it might help someone
You need to check in on doing The Killer Dowel PIN. Since You have the engine out you should do it
These don’t have that issue. This is a newer Cummins
you should try buffing your old back glass and see if that brings it back.
Whooo fummins build
Been waiting for this series to continue!
Love this build is gonna be 1 helluva rig when you done
a lot of the time what I'll do is just grab a tap for that threading on the studs and then run it through the holes just to clean out any trash in the threads
That trolling with the head bolts though hahah
FUMMINS!!
You should get the Cummins tools for lines and such.
Damian Gessner there arent any cummins special tools for fuel lines
You should of definitely had that head machined if I was going to install head studs without machining the head I would of left it on their
Hi great job
I was shown in auto shop to always chase the threads on anything your going to torque.
You’re not tourqing those threads though. The stud I just hand threaded in. You’re torquing the threads on the top end of the stud which you apply the moly lube to.
" you know the drill" This milwaukee my sponsor!
Double nut those exhaust studs. Way easier than vise grips.
Great video! Love the shop stuff
