      This is the same Aisin used in the Ram 4500 & Ram 5500. When you see a Ram truck pulling a 4 or 5 car hauler, on the interstate, that is the Ram - 5500 (Aisin). The 2020 Ram with Aisin is rated to tow 35,000 pound trailer.
      Low miles 149,000
      I tow a 5th wheel travel trailer (12,000 pounds). Ram rates this truck, tow 32,000+ pounds.
      Went up the Rockies on cruise control & across the Continental Divide. Reset the cruise control & turned on the Exhaust Brake. Truck & travel trailer descended using CRUISE CONTROL.
      Never touched the brakes. AWESOME.
      Remember it costs $15,000+ to install a Allison transmission to a cummins.
      1. Allison transmission
      2. Rebuild the old Allison
      3. Adaptation bellhousing, flywheel, midplate
      4. Stand-alone Allison transmission controller. But will it work with cruise control??

    • @ChristopherAtwater
      @ChristopherAtwater 4 роки тому +2

      Cut-off isn't going to be good in addition to weird hotspots. Also, those projector bowls will burn over time as they are not built for HID and will slowly become dimmer.

    • @MikeTW
      @MikeTW 4 роки тому

      Christopher Atwater Yeah I imagine the HIDs will degrade the bowls over time, but I have seen some that are decent at first. I think a good LED light that has the same filament position as the halogen bulb would have been my choice for these assemblies.

    Fixing little things is very satisfying. Doing the valve clearances on my EJ205 in my wrx. Much needed. Have one exhaust valve at .05mm instead of .25mm, random misfire source found. If your EJ in your GC has shimmed buckets DM me if you decide to adjust them without the $300 Kent Moore tool. Very doable with the engine out and you don't have to pull the cams. Love watching your content.

    One of the more effective ways to quiet down a diesel is to run compound turbos on them, but I don't know if there is room for them in that engine compartment. Yes, a 6.7 has a VGT turbo that is supposed to spool up just as fast as compounds do, but it doesn't quiet it down like the compounds do. You might want to run aftermarket turbo heat shield and aftermarket pipe insulation on the exhaust pipe if you haven't already, that is supposed to help with noise and actually boosts performance a bit. You could always run a product like Dynamat on the firewall and cab floor if low noise is really important to you.

    You are correct on the chatter, a 5.9 Commonrail has a lot of valve train noise compared to 6.7s, as long as you've ran your valve lash and everything's in spec its as good as its going to get. As for EGTs that engine is designed to run 1250° all day long so I would set that buzzer higher than that without a doubt. Its all personal preference but like I said you could run it at 1250 all day long and be just fine. Keep up the good work 👍

    Went through the same thing engine-noise wise with my ‘00 24v cummins. Being accustomed to gas engines when I got my first diesel I spent WAY too much time freaking out and chasing down engine noises that were completely normal haha.
    Nice video.

      Just worked hard. 5 years ago I had a clapped out Infiniti g20 daily driver and the same Miata with a blown up turbo motor. Red paint. Dents. Etc. I got lucky along the way too but I spent 10 years working overtime just to pay the bills.

    You definitely have my attitude to noises. Somethings not right and it needs sorting so you can hear the next problem. Regular maintenance and listening for noises and a vehicle will last for a long time. Example of that is my old Subaru Forester I used to have, 100k km (62k miles) of overloaded towing and offroading here in Australia, and she was still going strong because of 5k km oil changes and listening for noises.

    Hey Taylor, you can bar the engine over using the pulley bolt on the alternator. I did all the rockers in my third gen and adjusted them and that's how I did it. I was skeptical at first but it worked perfectly.

    you can absolutely bar it by one of the 4 bolts do it all the time. you can also bar it by the alternator if the belt has good tension

      I usually use inches for non car stuff since it’s decent sized pieces and I don’t have a metric tape measure. But car stuff is small enough I use millimeters. I much prefer the metric system.

    Diesels at higher rpm or under load fire over the cap of the piston more evenly on older models. With newer diesels, more technology has been implemented to keep the clatter down, even to keeping the injectors quieter.

    Hi Taylor. Been following this project of yours. Nice Job!! Just a note. Do you know about the 2 solenoid upgrades to the 5R110? The direct drive solenoid SSPC-D and the EPC solenoid EPC/PC-A. EPC solenoid increases main line pressure, clutch holding pressure and gives you firmer shifts. The direct drive solenoid gives you better 3-5 shifts. Can help eliminate the flare shifting that occurs between 3-5. Theres also a dummy plug upgrade for the tranny also. You already have the deep pan and true 15 micron filter being a 08 and later tranny, You and google it and find out more info....Just FYI if you didn't know of this upgrade. Nice build!!! Good job!!

    You should install a switch on the power wire to the vacuum pump so you can flip the switch and stop the pump from locking the hubs giving you the ability to have 2 low.
