While I'm not exactly a fan of the theory of Crocodile having once been a woman, I feel that you have done the best job by far for providing evidence and justifying it's story relevance.

This is my new favorite Crocodile theory! Him being 8 years old during God Valley is so significant especially since that's when Rocks most likely died. Shiraoshi, Robin, Momo, Sanji all lost a parent or was separated at the age of 8. Thanks for the shout out Dak!

One thing worth noting about this is also cross guild's connection to Shanks. Both Buggy and Mihawk have extremely notable relationships with Shanks. Buggy is Shanks' brother (more or less) and Mihawk is Shanks' former rival. If Oda brings cross guild into conflict with the Red Hair pirates, two out of the three Cross Guild members are going to have significant history with Shanks, but not Crocodile? The symmetry of that is off balance unless Croc knows Shanks in a very memorable way too.
I also always thought it strange that Croc just lets Buggy join him and Mr. 1 on the door when they are escaping Impel Down, especially because even Mr. 1 points it out as being weird that he's there and all the other prisoners have to wait for Jinbei's whale sharks to take them to the navy ship. (545)
I reread impel down and marineford and a couple of other things stuck out to me.
1. Buggy knows Croc at a glance but doesn't know Jinbei. Why would Oda have Buggy recognize one Shichibukai but not another one? (546)
2. Croc seems to know of Buggy's relationship to Shanks. When everyone else reacts and gets a line of dialogue, Croc just stands there unimpressed. (549)
also the cover image of 862 has Buggy and Shanks on board the roger pirate ship playing cards with an anthropomorphic crocodile, which is maybe nothing, but also potentially Oda deliberately obscuring Croc's image as to not spoil a reveal

I dont know about this theory but I do like how it ties in the "Crocodile is gender-swapped" and treats it seriously. Croc being Rocks' kid would be a legitimate reason to ask for a gender-swap and not just a dumb meme.
wasn't there a crocodile drawn as a kid and wasn't that kid a male? If anything if crocodile turned out to be originally female it must have been done rright at god's valley where Ivankov could take pity. But it doens't really make sense from a thoughtful standpoint, history has always told us that rival kings would always kill the sons and the men before they killed the daughters or mothers, so crocodile becoming a man actually puts a larger target on his back.

@KereTista-km9ck kids bodies haven’t even been introduced to the hormones that really make a persons sexuality more visibly apparent up to and including even bone structure. Aside from the primary sex organs kids are relatively androgynous and I mean, if you claim to know the sex of most kids you look at you’re either lying or exceptionally suspect.

Interestingly, xebec is the name of a type of ship. Is this on purpose because rocks is related to pluton? Is that why crocodile was was concerned with pluton? Xebec ships were used mostly by the Barbary pirates, from the Middle East, which in the OP universe is Alabasta. Is that why croc was in alabasta? Blackbeards ship name, sabre of xebec, is named after a weapon and a ship, a sabre and a xebec. Is Blackbeard after pluton?

Croc honestly was Luffy’s greatest villain.
Croc impaled Luffy, left him fa living corpse, thrpugh him in a pit, watched the put cover over and waited a while to see if he would come back.
Like Pel he should have been dead. Again impaled.
His crew or friends did not save him.
The only reason he survived was because Croc was betrayed by Robin, at the time, basically the second most important person in his organisation.

I think your point about Crocodile's reaction to Whitebeard's words to Squard is really interesting under the context of him possibly being Rocks' son. His other parallels with Ace are also really interesting. I especially never put together that they looked so similar as kids.
Yeah that part about Whitebeard is my favorite element - Croc may have stopped because he saw how good of a dad WB was and he didn't want to take that away from his kids, because if he did, then its like he created 1000s of orphans like him. Why perpetuate that feeling when WB just proved he was a good dad? ALSO - he clashed with Doflamingo right after saving Ace, like literally the same chapter as the panels I showed, and Doffy is an ex-celestial dragon so that alone could be a hint.

Wow your theory is insane, why Rocks is an organization of individuals that wanted to create their own Utopia and when Xebec died, all of them splitted up and created their own version of Utopia.
Whitebeard - Family Utopia
Big Mom - For all races
Kaido - For all beast that were hunted by others
Shiki - His own Utopia where he ruled everyone
Crocodile - Unknown kind of Utopia... following in his father's footsteps
Blackbeard - Pirate Utopia that gets recognized as a government-affiliated Island

One thing that could make the Teach Crocodile parallel work is if BB simply Carrie’s his will while Croc is the daughter. Ace was Rogers son but Luffy is the one carrying his will. Ace, Rogers son, fought the guy carrying Xebek’s will and lost, while Luffy(rogers will) fought Croc(Rocks son/daughter for the full inversion) and won.
Ace escaped execution but still died, while croc escaped impel down only to do what ace was slated to do and be the WG’s greatest problem.
I definitely think that’s true, but it’s still curious where BB came from or how he got influenced by rocks at all - he’s 40 years old so was only 2 at god valley. Not old enough to be “shaped” by rocks in any way, so I’m curious how they connect

So glad I discovered this vid, there are so many things i didn't notice before! I want to add something that might increase the credibility of this theory.
Kaido and Blackbeard have connections with Rocks. Kaido being his former crew's apprentice and Blackbeard by naming his ship "Sabre of Xebec". Both of their goals are about creating a powerful nation of pirates where the strongest pirates rule, so strong that they are able to rival World Government. However, that goal is not very unique in the One Piece world. The first ever pirate to be shown to have this goal isn't even them-it's Crocodile with his Operation Utopia.
I'd argue that Crocodile and Alabasta's true parallel isn't Doflamingo and Dressrosa, it's Kaido and Wano. Kaido is actually the one who's the successful version of Crocodile (though Kaido's plans didn't really succeed either, did they?). I still think Croc and Doflamingo are similar, but only in their personalities. The events of Dressrosa don't accurately mirror Alabasta that much (people like to equate them most just because Crocodile and Doflamingo were Shichibukai)
Crocodile and Kaido:
- When they first arrived in those countries, they didn't take over them right away. They spent more than 10 years for their plans. And the plan includes humiliating each country's supposed ruler for years (Cobra with the Dance Powder incident and the whole civil war; Oden with dancing like a looney for years)
- Alabasta and Wano are very closely tied to the Void century. Dressrosa does too, but it doesn't stick out that much. For Alabasta, we now know the Nefertaris are D clan. Wano people created the poneglyphs and shut themselves out to protect Pluton. They are also most probably allies of Joyboy.
- They aren't natives to the countries they want to take over, unlike Doflamingo who came from Donquixote, the first rulers of Dressrosa
- Crocodile and Kaido most likely chose their countries for the ancient weapon they were told those countries hold, and it's the same ancient weapon: Pluton
- Vivi and Momonosuke both went away from their island to find ways to bring down the evil pirates. Then, they encounter the Straw Hats along the way. They went on an adventure with them for some time until they actually return to their home countries to finally go after the big bad evil pirates. (Also, the scene where Kaido holds a trembling Momonosuke from a high place to threaten him? Crocodile did it first with Vivi.)
- Luffy needed to fight the main villains at least three times before coming out winning (in at least one of them for each villain, he really, really was nearing death before something saved him).
- I probably didn't remember this correctly but i think so far there's only two people Luffy has said "I will surpass you" to: Crocodile and Kaido (and Big Mom who's beside Kaido). And they really are the two "big ceilings" Luffy had to break, Crocodile being his first Shichibukai and Kaido his first Yonko. In return, i think both Crocodile and Kaido has grudging respect for Luffy.
- There's a panel of Kaido that you included in the video, the one where he said "But pirates will betray you. When they know you'll lose, they will abandon you and sail away". This exact point was actually first brought up by Crocodile all the way back in Alabasta, and the words he used is very similar to Kaido's. It feels like this is something they were taught, and most likely by the same person.
Something that also tickles my mind a lot is Crocodile and Blackbeard's exchange in Impel Down. It's just weird to my eyes. Maybe it's because Crocodile who is notorious for being so prideful to a fault, doesn't react negatively seeing the nobody from Whitebeard's ship that replaced his position in the Shichibukai ranks. It probably means nothing, and I'm just weird. But, with Blackbeard being said to be the inheritor of Xebec's will, isn't it funny that it can mean he has 'replaced' Crocodile's position twice? The blood son not inheriting the father's will has been done in One Piece. And Crocodile did have a moment of with Ace, saving his 'compatriot' in the same boat.
Tl;dr Kaido and Blackbeard are connected to Rocks. Crocodile has similarities to both of them. The red string that connects the three of them might be Rocks D. Xebec
p.s I'm sorry this is so messy, just have to get these out of my mind. I think there are more points i can note but i only remember these right now

Your point about Luffy, Ace and Crocodile all being present at Alabasta actually supports an Idea I've been thinking about: Dragon being at God Valley. If Alabasta is meant to parallel God Valley in a way then it would make sense if the fathers of those three characters were all present. Long story short, I think whatever Dragon saw at God Valley is what radicalized him against the World Government.
We literally see what radicalised Dragon. It was Ohara.
@mrbubbles6468 That's what led him to fight the WG. However, he clearly held negative feelings toward the WG before Ohara was destroyed. What I'm saying is, I think that whatever happened on God Valley is what gave Dragon that first push to begin questioning their authority.

I just realized, that would be a HUGE excuse as to why Crocodile never specked into haki. “Enough Haki undoes devil fruit abilities” if Crocoboy was a crocogirl and Rox was the parent, that much haki potential could make even a little Haki training undo Ivankov’s DF. Blowing the cover. 🧠 so crocodile could only spec into DF and had to defend/fight that way.
Edit: also if Crocoboy is fighting Sanji and becomes Crocogirl that would put sanji at a MAJOR disadvantage.

that would actually be the perfect excuse oda could use for why croc did not use haki against luffy in alabasta since haki wasnt a big idea for oda back then however tho, what about marineford and all those top fighters hitting croc with haki wouldnt he not have turned according to ur theory?
I dont think him using haki himself would revert ivankovs fruit changes, there really isnt any precedent. Haki lets you strike someones body through their devil fruit powers, it doesnt completely negate them. if it did Luffys Gear 3 wouldnt work. Also Crocs gender didnt revert while he had seastone shackles on in prison, which DOES negate powers so i certainly dont think him using haki would do it
While I like the idea, I don't think that's the case. Crocodile wore sea stone cuffs during his entire stay in Impel Down. If that doesn't revert the effect, then haki probably doesn't either.

I don’t think croc was a girl, but it does make a lot of sense for Ivankoff to know he is Roc’s son. He does seem to know a lot about history.

FINALLY A CROCO THEORY THAT IS NOT CROCO-MOM!!! I would like to add on to the theory based on the Doflamingo parallel. I think Crocodile secret could be that he used to be a slave. That's the opposite of celestial dragon with Doffy. Another reason is that in OP, the one secret that no characters want to reveal and would rather die is being a slave (Boa, Fisher Tiger). I still think that Croco is biologically male, but since his androgynous look could be the reason he got enslaved. I also believe gun is a symbol of nobility (except for a few gun users among the pirates) because all celestial dragons have it with them (Doffy family, Charlos family, Gorosei, etc). Maybe Croco took the gun as a kid when he escaped. He doesn't use it anymore as an adult. The way he was lined up with little Boa and Kuma in the SBS also seems to suggest that he could also be a slave. This could also explain his connection with Ivankov/RA or even Xebec.
There's so many aspects about Croco that people sleep on. While he may not be the strongest villain, he is integral to the plot for sure since Oda is hiding so much about him even at this late in the game. HIs full name (as you mentioned) for example plus more.
He doesn't neccesarily need to have been a slave to be parallel to Doffy. He could be an orphan that got adapted into nobility at a young age which is why he's shown with good clothes and the gun. Think back Doffy was introduced as being poor but he came from the highest place possible. So I think they are opposite in the regard one came from nothing and got into wealth and power and the other had wealth and power and lost everything.
But still the possibility is there for both to be true.
@@oliviadonquixote That's possible too. Although I also had this theory but it was more for Blackbeard and not Crocodile. When I look at the SBS for warlords as kids, the way Oda grouped them together is interesting. I think the first row (Mihawk, Moria, and Jinbei) is those who have ambitions to be the strongest or best at something. Assuming 2nd row (Croco, Boa, Kuma) are all ex-slaves, 3rd row (BB and Doffy) seems hint at their living condition. BB might be an orphan living in poverty who now wants to build his own kingdom, whereas Doffy was exiled from his "kingdom" and became poor.
My main reason for Croco possibly being a slave is b/c of how a secret is treated in OP, specifically from Boa and Fisher Tiger. With God Valley being very relevant right now, and Kuma mostly likely being an ex-slave😬😬
But honestly, as long as his secret is significant to the plot and not the gender thing, I will be happy b/c he's one of my favorite characters.

This theory is fucking great, there's a few more points I thought of to go along with it.
Firstly, BaROCK Works.
Secondly, the trust issues Croc has could be related to Rocks abandoning him at the age of eight to then never come back. Additionally it could be influenced by Dufeld if that was his father figure, as he's a loan shark which exploit people's trust. And there's the connection between loan SHARK Dufeld and CROCODILE, both very similar animals, sharks being for the sea and crocodiles being for smaller bodies of water, just like how Croc's sand is just smaller Rocks. So like, both his animal and his power represent smaller versions of both his father figures.
The smoke on Rocks' jolly roger could be because Rocks smoked, like Crocodile.
Crocodile has a bunch of connections to the Revolutionary Army. The Baroque Works flag looks very similar to the RA's. The first okama in the series was on Crocodile's crew, and the RA is heavily tied to the okamas, currently setting up their base at Peach Island. He tried to overtake Alabasta by literally inciting a revolution among the people to overthrow the King which is the RA's strategy, the connection to Ivankov, and his desire for the Ancient Weapons possibly being inspired by the RA's desire to destroy the WG, and the Ancient Weapons are the main thing the WG worries about for things that could destroy them. And of course Crocomom. Imo he was a revolutionary that was excommunicated, foreshadowed by Dragon taking great offence to the idea of someone trying to kill Cobra, and Crocodile actually trying to do just that, as well as the parallel with Dragon's fruit being a bringer of rain and Crocodile being allergic to the rain. Point is, Dragon is basically the closest thing to the modern day Rocks, so it makes sense why Croc would initially try to join him.
Rocks trying to take down, and ultimately dying to, the Celestial Dragons would recontextualise a lot of stuff with Crocodile. His unexplained history/dislike of Doflamingo, a Celestial Dragon. His dislike of Buggy, in 1058 threatening to sell him into slavery which hits different if Buggy was a CD from God Valley like Shanks, and Rocks died trying to free their slaves. He's introduced killing a white lily which you can see in Imu's garden of flowers. It also recontextualises him specifically targeting the Nefertaris and their kingdom. There's still a lot to suggest that Imu is a Nefertari which I won't get into here, Nerona Imu could either be a false name or her original name before she married into the Nefertaris.
Rocks was said to be a big breaker of taboos - and the main thing the World Government considers taboo is researching the Void Century, further foreshadowed by Blackbeard, who still has a lot of evidence for being Rocks' son, also having an interest in archaeology. And Crocodile is similarly interested in the ancient history, going after Pluton, trying to find Alabasta's poneglyph.
If Rocks' crew betrayed him at God Valley, that would explain why he became a Warlord. The Warlords were created to oppose the Emperors, and the three confirmed Emperors at the time Crocodile became a Warlord (16 years ago) were all ex-Rocks crewmates.
Finally if Crocomom IS true, then that opens a whole can of worms. It would parallel Luffy's other D brother who was the son of two Ds. It means Blackbeard is Luffy's uncle. If Rocks was either a Lunarian or Fishman, which there's evidence for both, then Luffy, and Crocodile and Blackbeard would have that in their DNA, maybe this could explain Luffy's Red Roc - the Lunarian fire ability Red ROC literally coming from ROCKS. Also there's a bunch to suggest that Rocks died by drowning and that would further Crocodile's aversion to water and why that fruit chose him. Man I'm gonna stop now it's getting too crazy😅
Bruh those were some fire points honestly. Croc said "I never trusted anyone to begin with" when he sliced Robin after she lied about the poneglyph, so it could hint there's a lot of betrayal in his backstory. Also about Du Feld, he could be like Crocodile's "Trebol" if that makes sense. influencing him, giving him his fruit, etc.

Considering Du Feld appears to be based on US hotel magnate Sheldon Adelson and we saw Mr. 3 and Ms. Goldenweek stayed on Holiday Island I believe that this island could be based on the Palazzo and the Venetian Hotel casino restort in Las Vegas and the Venetian Macao in the island of Macau so Du Feld owns Holiday Island and Croc used his family connections to give his agents a sweet holiday destination to have when off duty. Also this could explain why Croc chose the Rainbase casino as his base in Alabasta to emulate his adoptive dads buisness.
My theory is that Whitebeard was Figarland Garling's slave (hence why Shanks's face reminds him of his scars). Whitebeard only joined Rocks because Rocks freed him. But then Whitebeard betrayed Rocks.

That would also create another parallel to blackbeard, who betrayed whitebeard for his ideals
I could see crocodile being a part of the D clan considering how much he is against the world goverment and the celestial dragons and is one of the few pirates who directly opposes them like luffy and blackbeard. We see him do this in marineford turning against the marines because he hates them more than whitebeard as well as creating an organization that directly opposes them in the form of the cross guild. This would even tie back to his right hand being nico robin at the time of alabasta who we also know was hunted down in the same way.

Great vid! Was nice seeing the manga panel of the Marine war and noting that crocodile shifts sides after the white beard speech.
(Memory might be wrong) but in the anime, it’s when it’s declared that luffy is the son of dragon that he decide to shift sides.
I think the original manga is more raw and subtle in showing the new xebec link revealed, but the anime changing it to be more ‘luffy’ orientated I think stronger supports the croco mummy theory and the connection between Crocodile and Dragon

Another parallel is that Ace was meant to be the successor to Roger but ultimately it will be Luffy. Maybe the same could be said with Rocks Crocodile and the true successor being Blackbeard
This theory sounds the most plausible, a lot of one piece theories I've been hearing recently have just been hitting different because it just feels more realistic of a ending for one piece with how it's moving right now and knowing how close we truly are to the end add to that I feel
Xebec is the name of a typa ship called Sunbeki. Which were used by Algerian pirates, most famously known as Captain Barbaros Hajreddin, who proceed to become Fleet Admiral for Ottomans. Barbaros means Red Beard so I'm clinging to that and still side with Shanks being Xebec's son. That also fills under what Roger said to Garp very well. ''A newborn child bears no sin''

The thing that stood out to me about crocodile was always his hook. The eyepatch, the hook and a peg leg. Although we haven’t really seen one with an peg leg, oda said all those traits are for people with significants. So why Crocodile?
Yea it means they are real oda said if an eye patch character appears on one piece usually means the show is coming to an end and maybe just maybe crocodile might be one

This is the best crocodile theory in a while as theres more organic ties or parallels with croc and xebec than there are with shanks or buggy, theres also another possible connection to rocks and crocodile with Hachinosu being based on Skull Rock from Peter Pan which connects to captain hook and crocodile. If i had to guess crocodiles real name it be Tick Tock Baker, tick tock is the name of the crocodile in peter pan and baker is the last name of the english voice actor who voiced him

Yo!! Love this theory! I’ve been screaming about a sobek reference for awhile. Crocodile tears, or rather, when the desert rains. Sobek the mythological deity of rivers, crocodiles, is a crocodile man who’s tears are said to have created the Nile and all other rivers, but beware, cause it’s just to feed his gaping maw. I hope there is some sort of crocodile zoan(hopefully mythical sobek(Xebec)) that will be used in story, or some sort of enemy. The bananagator has been sitting in my mind for so long.
Crocodile's casino was called Rain Dinners. And it sat on top of a lake. Sobek/water-connection certainly there.

Well well, and here we are KNOWING Iva was on god valley... So yes, I LOVE so much about this. One thing though you left out in my opinion, is Crocs behavior in Marineford. Because we do not get to see what exactly causes his change of mind. There are two things happening there. Whitebeard being stabbed and Luffy being declared Dragons son. So if we asume Croc being in god valley what do the rebels mean to him? Does he have any obligation or affiliation? (Croco-Mom-Theory left aside!)
I mention this, because that character actually does a lot more than stop attacking Whitebeard or just help a little.
He goes up against Doffy (Someone with the D against a Tenryubito??).
And he even saves Luffy from Sakazuki with the words "If you want to protect something do it right. Don't let them have their way."
Basically he is allying himself with Luffy. He is risking his life for him after Whitebeard and Ace are already dead. So if he truly is Rocks child... we have Rocks child, trying to save Rogers son and saving Dragons child and Garps grandsons life, resisting the World Government.
If that is not will of D what is?

So basically Luffy is Garp's Grandson, Dragon's Son, Brother Of Sabo And Ace which is the son of Roger. And if the croco-mom theory is correct, Luffy is also a grandson of Rocks.

I’ve had a theory of Whitebeard being the traitor for a long time, and people hate it claiming it’s not his character. But I tell them this. Whitebeard is the closest to a “ good guy” out of the Rocks pirates we knew of for the most part ( Gloriosa as well). If he saw extreme wrongdoing, and if we have been told Rocks wasn’t REALLY a crew with bonds, it is also then possible a generally good person would then “ betray” them -- but not his own principles of conduct. Judging by the legend of GV, generally speaking WB hasn’t been brought up as much. It is possible in the finale -- wB already betrayed them and changed sides -- but Kaido had already left as they no longer had the forces to succeed.
This is a great theory. I'm almost more excited to learn about God Valley than the Ancient Kingdom. Oda's gonna have to go hard on the flashbacks during the final saga. I mean the last flashback we've had was Oden, so the bar is very high.
The weirdest thing happened today. A Reddit comment made me think of how easily you could connect Croc and Xebec, I started looking into it, until I found this video and realized you had found all of the same points almost a year earlier.
There is also new info now, such as Iva making his first appearance along with Ginny at GV and then leaving separately from her and Kuma (maybe he left with Croc?).
I like Crocomom personally, and there could've been some compatibility between Croc and Dragon given that there was at least a 3-year period (from Ohara to Luffy's birth) where they both wanted to oppose/take down the WG, and they both know Iva. It also works with Croc moving to Alabasta, since that happened when Luffy was 3. This would also make Luffy and Ace the two instances of two known D. clan members having a child together.

I always felt like Iva didn't meet Crco until like later on maybe like his early 20s? maybe Kid Croc was (Unwilling) saved by Whitebeard after rocks died at God Valley.
@@freedomdestiny8269 I don't think we know anything about that part of their lives. The next time we see Iva after God Valley is with Dragon in the early days of the Revolutionary Army, while for Crocodile, it's probably Roger's execution. There's a big gap in the middle so anything goes, really.
