I also think it's possible if Kaido returns he'll fight alongside Joyboy in the final war against the World Government since him and King have been waiting for Luffy their entire lives and Kaido figured out Luffy was Joyboy the moment Luffy defeated him and when he was falling into the Earth's magma core because he was thinking of that moment he told King Joyboy would be the man to defeat him someday.

Yeah it would be fitting that kaido defends wano and makes big mom help him too. I believe he will help luffy too.
My pet theory has been that Big Mom survived, with Kaido being on the verge of dying. First I was thinking that she might infuse his soul into the lava and attack Elbaf with her strongest homie ever. After the Pluton reveal my theory changed to her infusing this ancient weapon with his soul and attacking Elbaf with it, calling it Ragnarök. All in accordance with the giants viking theme, and finally giving us that Big Mom vs Luffy fight we never got.
This video really made me reconsider that though, very convincing!
i think instead she would take the favor she says Kaido owns her (of a semi dead Kaido), and that would be to take his life-expectacy to be back at her prime, then she would seek revenge against luffy and the giants, and in elbaf, she is defeated definitively and katakuri becames the new captain of the tottoland pirates, i think that would be (along with another villain, not as strong as a yonkou, such as a figarland garling or prince lokki) or maybe even characters like Akainu or greenbull too, make elbaf more of a multi scoped arc as Luffy and strawhats are now too strong to just have a single yonkou/crew as the enemy (wano already fullfiled that check), in a battle where luffy is the target or just in general the 4th poneglyph
Yo Daks you cooked with this one. Bb pirates vs Kaido would be insane. Kaido being a sapphire like dragon because of his awakening and his fruit allowing him to swim. Also if its sapphire it might buff your power is a brilliant idea, Luffy and him being a sun god in different ways is fantastic. I would like to add if this happens and Bb take out Kaido I would like to see Yamato have a moment with Kaido, it would be very emotional. Im very inetrested in the idea of Yamato getting scabbards similar to Oden. Having some of Kaidos crew being a scabbard to Yamato would be a nice touch aswell.

I think it’s just an absurdly powerful fruit plain & simple. I don’t think Kaido was waiting for Joyboy to awaken his fish fish fruit either. Why would he want to become stronger when he is already miserable being the “world’s strongest creature”? I think the man just wanted to either feel defeat or overthrow the government himself & knew Joyboy was his best option for both so he waited in Wano for a couple decades. Kaido reallyyyy despised the world government so meeting Joyboy is a double win for him. Defeated by a literal god figure & knowing the world government was gonna be toppled afterwards. That seems more like Kaido to me.

Have you forgotten that Oda literally said he FORGOT to reveal Kaido's and Kid's DF's names in the manga? That's why we never got a text box for them.
There are two things that people need to keep in mind and keep separate, what goes on IN THE STORY vs THE REAL WORLD
Following EVERYTHING we've learned from the story, Kaido is 100% already awakened:
1) Kaido is a ZOAN first and foremost.
Being a mythical just means he has "paramecia abilities" such as shooting fire. He fits the literal definition of a zoan awakening given by Crocodile in Impel Down ages ago: stronger, tougher, recovers fast, etc.
2) "Show, don't tell".
In Egghead we learned by VISUAL CUES that an awakened zoan has the hagoromo (the haki cloud) thanks to Lucci's text box. However in the same chapter we saw Kaku's awakening WITHOUT the text box. Show, don't tell.
The power of HINDSIGHT. In Onigashima we saw Hybrid Yamato with the same hagoromo when fighting against Kaido. It's clear that in the real world Oda hadn't fully decided that "hagoromo = zoan awakening" yet but the clues have been there since GREAR 4's reveal in Dressrosa, and we now know the gomu gomu is actually a zoan.
3) The Design.
Kaido's design physically changed. Someone made a great comparison side by side at the subtle design changes such as the sharper teeth by Kaido and Lucci got during awakening. You can see for yourself at Kaido's brow design even got the swirl resembling the hagoromo.

Every other time his teeth are flat and no brows.
Such details are extremely important, they're as subtle as Sanji's brows swirling to the other side when his Germa genes activate.
4) The narrative.
Think about this for a second. In what world would a COMMON CAT like Lucci be awakened and Kaido isn't? Kaido is much older, much more experienced and has been a pirate for decades. Plus he name dropped awakening to Luffy.
Kaido. IS. AWAKENED.
Lastly, the df being called "Fish Fish" is irrelevant, it's the MODEL that determines the creature. Does Lucci look like a persian cat to you? No, he's MODEL LEOPARD.
Does Kaku look like a cow to you? No, he's MODEL GIRAFFE.
Does Jbra look like a chihuahua to you? No, he's a MODEL WOLF.
Kaido never was and never will be a "fish". He's MODEL SEIRYU.
kaido's fruit name was revealed in ch 999, it was uo uo no mi model azure dragon
One idea for where Kaidos devil fruit ends up could be with Koby.
How? X Drake is still missing and could be alive on Wano
Why? Drake knows the force of the fruit and how it would benefit sword. He’s already been shown to be close with Koby-they also both grew up as pirates that weren’t interested in the pirate life style before joining the marines.
Then start adding in the connection between Luffy and Koby. Started their journey together and both had Garp as mentors. Would be fitting for them to fight Blackbeard together and for Koby to have his DF powered by the sun since he found his inner power through the metaphorical sun, Luffy
This is super interesting, Dak! Seeing this end-product of your stream's comments on the subject really ties things together well from last week and other earlier discussions. The 1111 reaction vod was painful but it must have been much more frustrating live. A great video comes out of those trials so I hope you're not discouraged too much by the tech problems!

I hope Kaido and Big Mom are gone for good. The story has so many characters and locations to explore that we don’t need more time spent on them. I do like the zombie idea. We have Moria and S-Moria serving different interests .

I think we need Kaido and King to acknowledge Luffy as Joy Boy/Nika.
We especially need King to see Luffy in his awakened form. Just as Luffy helped liberate people from around the One Piece world, he needs to liberate the ancient races that were perhaps aligned with the ancient kingdom.
There is now a little part of me that wants to see a reveal of where Kaido and Big Mom came out of the lava, with their foot prints and Kaido leaving black spikes of rock from where he blew his nose to clear the lava when he got to shore...
I will say Gloriosa and Stussy can provide everything Kaido and Big Mom could about Rocks, and we do know Stussy was headed to Egghead with Marco last we saw of them long before the transmission went out.
I doubt Big Mom is dead if Zeus is still around, Elbaf would be interesting to tie in too good point.
Kaido I don't know. Storywise he could provide all sorts of things, but Luffy could have given him the rest he wanted as well.
Regarding the ancient weapons.
Is Poseidon an object to you? We know it's a living being.
What makes Shirahoshi the "weapon"? The fact that she can COMMAND GIANT ANCIENT CREATURES.
Momonosuke can also COMMAND A GIANT ANCIENT CREATURE.
Oda does things in SETS.
If one "weapon" is a living being, ALL of them are. We got that confirmation since Zou when Momo COMMANDED ZUNESHA.
SHOW, DON'T TELL.
I'm not denying the battleship to exist, it IS a weapon. It's just not an ANCIENT weapon. It's a COUTNER as mentioned in Water 7.
Meaning it's from the WG SIDE, not the Ancient Kingdom's side. The biggest proof are the very Poneglyphs. We know that the WG DOES NOT HAVE PONEGLYPH TECH.
Where are all the info about the ancient "weapons" written? IN PONEGLYPHS.
Where are the blueprints written? Ponelgyphs? No. In BURNABLE PAPERS.
Maybe there is "something" down there, but it's not Pluton the ancient weapon because Momo is Pluton.

Since its been proven that Kaido could not kill himself, it should mean that lava should not kill him. And he wasn't dead while in the lava.
I think both Big Mom and Kaido are alive and got expelled by the eruption.
They probably need to recouperate for some time. Also Kaido now know Luffy is Joyboy since he beat him. This might mean that Kaido wants to join/help him.
And Big Mom will return to Whole Cake and learn that Blackbeard attacked them, prompting her to want to join/help Luffy.
Could Kaido take this moment to reconcile with Momo and Yamato, training Momo to get almost as strong as his dad. Joining the side of Luffy and healing his relationship with Yamato

I have a theory that the DFs are actually made with technology so advanced it seems like magic to the present time, most probably utilising that “free energy” Vegapunk was talkin about.
I think there used to be “gods” from other worlds with unique abilities, and when they die this technology allows their wills and abilities to be converted into the form of a fruit, for someone to eventually inherit that will and power and if they’re good enough they awaken the fruit, basically bringing it back to its former glory, what it used to be.
And I think this technology was inspired by none other than Poseidon, who was the mythical being originally inhabiting the blue planet, which was eventually invaded by foreigners who built the red line to reside upon it.
The blue planet used to be mostly water and barely any land mass. Then one day, the “aliens” ran out of resources and looked to the blue plant.
And the ruler/god of the blue planet at the time, was Poseidon. So these aliens created Pluton and Uranus to combat this force of nature, defeated it and built the red line to live on the planet.
However not all of the invaders share the same vision, some, including Nika, were just trying to find resources and a new world to live in, hopefully coexisting with Poseidon and her people. But some of his comrades, likely Imu, the gorosei and some others decided otherwise and wanted to rule with an iron fist instead.
And that’s when the conflict arose, and Nika (or Joyboy, likely a name given by the blue planet inhabitants) lost, and apologised to Poseidon for what they did to her world, hence why the need to destroy the red line which was never meant to be there to begin with.
Then Poseidon accepted his apology and promised to pass down her abilities and powers as well so that someday they can fight back. And during this span of time, the aliens have developed the DFs based on what Poseidon can do, that is pass on her will and power to future generations, likely something that has been done multiple times before, and the one current having the power during the invasion was a princess named Poseidon. So the concept of creating the DFs was based on that but Imu and the gang were not a fan of it, and since they can’t destroy the fruits completely, they instead placed a curse upon those who passed on their wills so that they cannot coexist with the Poseidon freely and hopefully preventing them from reuniting, hence why DFs have that weakness, which Imu and the gorosei probably do not.
Seems like he would most likely awaken if he swam up a waterfall, or after another analogously impossible task. Maybe Kaido has to waken his fruit to be able to counteract the water weakening him. Maybe the requirement is to be a capable protector for Wano (a gargantuan task for Kaido imo) , like the role of the the myththilogical figure, and he therefore comes out of the water somehow awakened and, after heavy reflection of his past oppression, now be a true hero for Wano. It seems unlikely to me that mono could awaken the power in the timeframe of the series imo, so this feels plausible to me

I’ve said it time and time again, Big Mom and Kaido could be dead when just looking at their feats, but NARRATIVELY they’re dead. It makes zero sense for them to just get back up when a major theme of the whole story is out with the old generation and in with the new.
Sure, both of them could probably survive an attack like this, but for the narrative of the story, it’s nonsensical and is just a situation like Igram or Pell. Just objectively bad writing if they return.
Nvm, Dak you’re cooking man. A through-line with BB getting Kaido’s fruit while attempting to get Pluton would be hype and fitting for the story.
However, this is really the only way for Kaido to come back in a meaningful way, and he would also need to have taken heavy damage from Luffy’s fight to still fit well in the story. Just saying.
In MY opinion if BB gets the dragon fruit and pluton he would be a GOD. The quake and darkness fruits are OP so the dragon to? Pluton would be the cherry on top of BB so yeah I’m my opinion if he gets the both of them I don’t know luffy could beat BB!
Imma be honest there is a huge flaw with this theory. We just spent 3 real life years fighting a dragon. I don't think Oda wants to spend more time with an extra strong dragon. But besides that i'm pretty sure the trigger for awakenings is aligning yourself with the dream that created the fruit. Luffy awakened in a moment of great stress where all he wanted was to free Wano, Yamato awakened as she became the guardian angel of Wano. If the trigger was being strong and dying I don't think that would be interesting.

The only viable option I see is him (Kaido) being defeated and devoured by Im-sama in some (fast and easy) way to set up the power scale even higher at one point in the end saga.

Wish that would be true, but its too unrealistic, One Piece is wrapping up soon and Oda has no time to dedicate more panels to Kaido, while we have a number of characters that need them.

The story felt like something you wanted it to happen in the story not what is going to come. Be little bit more creative, like Kaido will become Luffy's ally now that he knows Luffy is Joyboy. According to Kaido, the one who can defeat him will be Joyboy and now that he has been defeated by Luffy, he can confirm it. He fights with Bleackbeard's crew who came to take Pluton. Yamato, who is on a mission to explore Wano meets Kaido and helps him fight BB's crew and BB himself. Yamato confirms to Kaido that Luffy is Joyboy..... Also tells about Zou's claim about Luffy.... Maybe BB gets his hands on Pluton maybe not but Kaido and Yamato with Momonosuke and the Scabbards join Luffy in the final war. Well... This is what I want it to happen... It's not going to but..

I've been rereading the manga as of late, and in chapter 967, there's one panel that I've been really curious about, and it's really similar to the sake cups with Sabo, but I haven't seen anyone cover it specifically, so I was wondering if you had anything to say about it. Its on the last page of the chapter, and you can see Roger holding something, maybe a piece of paper or something, after he says ge wished he was born into Joyboys era. I know this might seem a bit far fetched but could you check it out?

I believe the dragons were the creatures to carry Uranus in the sky. Sea kings pull the Noah. Zunesha probably with pluton. Hence why they need a dragon. If all the dragons were killed it would make sense the next option be the devil fruit

Dragons are definitely not killed. They likely live in sky islands the same way sea kings live in the depths of the oceans and the other elephants/land creatures live in god knows where in this huge Jupiter-size planet "Earth".
The azure in azure dragon is just a translation artifact.

I do not understand why people find this sort of theory compelling. Kaido had his arc. The dragon fruit had its arc! Narratively, why does Kaido need to have further significance in the story? How does Blackbeard getting the fruit serve the story? WANO IS THE BIGGEST ARC IN THE SERIES! How is rehashing the same themes and ideas from an already thoroughly explored storyline a good direction for the story?

Blackbeard could probably transport a shadowless person by using his dark-dark fruit power to block out the sunlight. Maybe that might've even been another reason he wanted the dark-dark fruit so bad, because of the interactions it could have with an army like Moria's.
I think the Zoan fruit BB is looking for isn't Kaido's. It's something we haven't seen yet. BB is going after a devil fruit of the Kraken.
Yeah. Unlike Whitebeards fruit we only saw pretty little of we saw the dragon fruit more then enough. And Luffy already beat the a guy whealding this power. Beating another dragon would be just redundant and not very exciting or creative.
But the Kraken theory would only make sense if BB already had this power. (because having multiple hearts to wield multiple powers is the reason for this theory to exist in the first place...)

I gotta say of all the theories I've ever heard this is one that stuck with me. Not necessarily kraken but it would make sense as legendary, hearts, legs/bones on flag, 10 legs 10 Commanders, etc...
He has to be hunting(or already have) some super special zoan right? I just assume he wants Imu's whatever it is Zoan fruit, then BB can power up his crew similar to Imu powering up the Gororsei. But Kraken makes sense if he needs to swim for the One Piece, which is why Roger and Shanks crews didn't have Devil Fruit users so they could swim.

I assume Blackbeard was very similar to Ace and Robin in having to fear the world knowing they exist, because they will be hunted if discovered, which could explain why he didn't sleep when he was young like Shanks and Buggy referenced. Maybe Blackbeard originally ended up in some messed up situation where his personalities split, and due to the Dark Dark fruit he can compartmentalize his personalities and make each manifest independently with different fruit?
Or maybe someone with Charlotte Puddings memory ability implanted stuff? Or another devil fruit like Laws swapped 3 consciousnesses into 1 young Blackbeard?

I'm 100% sure Blackbeard is already a zoan. The yami yami is CLEARLY not a logia and that is more apparent now that we know that the gomu gomu is NOT a paramecia but a Zoan.
BB's DF is also nearly identical to the "gomu gomu" so the yami yami is most definitely one of the other 3 "gods" mentioned in Skypeia.
My vote is for the "god of earth" as alluded by his Black Hole attack, an allegory for the earth "swallowing everything".

Taking Pluton from Wano is not an easy job. Because first of all Wano is now Luffy's territory and known for Samurais. Also they're specialised in the ryou haki. So picking a fight with the warriors of Wano will bring the attention of Straw hats and Marines. So the outcome will be disastrous. Also fighting with an emperor of the sea will shake the world and bring the attention of world government to Wano. Blackbeard knows this. So he'll not come to get it directly. They can get Pluton in two ways. First way Kuzan can freeze everyone like he did in whole cake island. The second thing is with help of Shiryu's Clear clear fruit they can sneak into Wano by becoming invisible and when they find Pluton with help of Van Ouger's Warp warp fruit they can teleport Pluton to outside of Wano without any casualties and their knowledge.

I’m assuming Momos fruit can’t awaken because as a copy/fake dragon fruit it probably doesn’t have a will in it. Awakening a zoan involves matching personality with and overcoming the will of your fruit, if there’s no will there’s nothing to awaken.
I was sincerely expecting the raid to fail purely because Kaido never mentioned awakening, which was bizarre. Made the arc feel anticlimactic.
That said, it’s gonna be tough to bring Kaido back without diminishing him or being repetitive. I’m hopeful though.
Normally I’m not crazy about wild theories like this where the creator reaches conclusions based off small past references or because they sound cool and Oda is known to repeating elements over and crazy forshawding!

This has New World Oda writin all over it! At first I was completely turned off to Kaido being incorporated in the Black Beard pirates at all but the fish fish fruit being used on the ship woulda be wildddd along with Garps soul inside Kaido! That would just be nuts and I totally agree Sword will help bring down Umi and Black Beard in the end to create a new world! So Kobi definitely has some growth to go before he gets there! I could definitely see him being fleet commander one day! I know Kuzon deserves it but I feel like he will die before the story ends, One Piece is all about the new generation taking place of the old after all!
But yeah man super dope idea I wouldn’t mind seeing this play out, definitely still burnt out on Kaido but seeing his fruit giving to a ship would be wilddd, I feel like we havnt seen much of that trope so either even if it’s not this I can definitely see a non living object fruit user having a simi large part to play at some point before the story ends. In my opinion, Kaido couldn't awake his devil fruit because of how the Azure Dragon is depicted in chinese mythology, it is supposed to be a benevolent creature after all and in Japan it's the protector of the city of Kioto
Kaido doesn't really fit into any description so maybe it could have been that, since zoans have a will of their own, Kaido wasn't simply fit to awaken his devil fruit

Honestly I dont think blackbeard will be going for kaido's fruit. Simply because he usually goes for the best option and that being Nika. I feel like his plan is to catch luffy somewhere and it will lead into a major fight because blackbeard is missing one devil fruit type that luffy is currently possessing.

I usually love all of your videos but I’m not on page with BB seeing an awakened-alive Kaido and not tucking his tail between his legs. Kaido pressured Luffy to an unprecedented amount, even in G5th. Kaido’s either dead and gone or this is not happening.
It would be awsome to see the marry get a devil fruit so the shio can truly be apart of the crew. Especially since the original marry was shown to have a soul or maybe will of its own and the second marry hasn't realy been shown anything like that

In that comic strip they said that the germa's army was fighting Sora warrior of the sky. And since Uranus is something related to the i figured that Sora created Uranus and since germa was obsessed with technology it makes sense for them go after it. The only reason i think Sora lost was because he was not cut out to battleor was very old. Who knows.
