  • Today Colnago has launched the new C68, the latest in a long line of Italian made carbon race bikes from the company, which traces its history back to the C40 of the 1990s. In this video we go through all the changes and details, prices and ask the question of whether it's still as relevant as it was in the 90s.

You know you just made a terrible financial decision when the price includes a man from another continent showing up at your front door to assemble it. Heck, I'm still having financial PTSD because a fancy bag came with the overpriced shoes that I just bought!

One of my first bikes, and this was in the late 80's, was a Colnago SL Super. I loved that bike, it was red/chrome. Rode it until I was hit head on by a car...
Glad to see Colnago adapt the T47 BB, I think this trend back toward the threaded BB, and there being fewer "standards," is only going to be good.

When the Aethos came out, I thought the idea of spending so much cash on a bike was lunacy, but the magical draw of the Colnago name makes this seem like a sensible luxury buy!

Hope you get to try the bike soon. Looking to get your thoughts if it maintained the superior ride quality. I definitely think there’s a market for the premium non-racing bicycle but competition for me are actually racing bikes which if you combine with wider tyres and even tubeless, the ride quality is excellent as well. I don’t race but opted for the DOGMA F12 and absolutely love it. It’s a cool-looking comfortable ride . What else can you want ?

Exactly what Colnago needed to do. To return to being known for making the best bikes, hand made, in Italy. Colnago is a premium product, so good to see it return to its roots, not just badging up Giants (good though they are). While out of my league price wise (despite previous C50, C60, C64, prices move on), its not much more than eg Pinarello and Specialized (LMFAO) charge and you'll be getting a superior product with luxury service. Great to see the Ferrari of bikes back. Like it or not, this is the only way for a small maker to survive.

Let me know when this bike gets you off the lights 3x faster and its top speed is twice as fast, then the comparison is valid.

@@caet49 Sorry, but he has been the most consistently radical and future-looking from the 1960s until today. Among his firsts: Microfusion lugs; straight forks; dual downtubes; carbon lugs to allow custom-sized frames; carbon monocoque; top-end road steel, Ti, Al, CF in the same model year, hydraulic brakes; Ti stem in 1968; gearbox; dev. partnership (with Ferrari, 1st bike company to do this); insistence on not chasing the lightest, but rather promoting safety and reliability; NFTs to protect from theft; 3d-printed lug to allow custom-sized frames, etc. As a fan since the 1970s, I find it really remarkable that he's never really let up in his remarkable career (maybe the 1980s were not great). I agree that they're not price-competitive, but neither is Ferrari or Rolls-Royce. These are a few important examples of Colnago being a "first mover", as most of these advances have persisted, and been copied by others.
