Hi everyone, thank you so much for joining me in this (nearly) hour long yin yoga practice for self-care, rest and relaxation. This is a full body flexibility class suitable for all levels. I recommend having two blocks nearby or a bolster.
If you've been feeling depleted, stressed, burnt out or overwhelmed, this is a lovely practice to help you soothe your nervous system and get back to yourself. I don't talk very much when I teach yin yoga because I want you to take the opportunity to go inward and listen to your body's inherent wisdom. Less is always more in yin yoga.
I'll take you through poses like supported fish, supported bridge/butterfly, half butterfly, straddle, pigeon pose, child's pose and savasana.
What is Yin Yoga? Yin yoga is often called the Yoga of the joints because unlike other styles of yoga, the emphasis is not on the muscles but on the deep connective tissue. Connective tissue is made up of fascia, ligaments and tendons which surround and form your joints. Yin yoga improves the range of motion in your joints and also strengthens them. The results and benefits are more flexibility and greater range of motion and also more stability within your joints.
There are 3 principles of Yin Yoga.

Hi Kassandra, just wanted to let you know how much I am enjoying the Yin YOGA classes. I tried other types of yoga but Yin is the style for me. I don’t usually like Yin yoga but with the help of a bolster, 2 blocks and a thin cushion I managed to get comfortable in most of the poses & was surprised how quickly it went. I shall definitely not shy away from Yin again! Thank you Kassandra for this calming relaxing class. 🙏 Namaste

This class was an absolute bliss! My body and mind feel super relaxed and zen, which is a wonderful feeling ☺. Loved staying for a longer amount of time in these poses. I need to do WAY more Yin Yoga practices! My body feels extremely challenged by holding these poses for extended periods. I really enjoyed this class, as always, it taught me something about why consistency is key, the more I practice, the easier and better these poses will feel!

Oof... I was hoping this practice would be just what I needed today. I've been feeling very disregulated since I lost my job, am out of money, & have spent a lot of time in the last few days with my emotionally exhausting parent. Unfortunately, the total stillness heightened my anxiety quite a bit. I believe that's telling me something, though. I also have problems with pain in my right hip, & unfortunately poses that encourage looseness in it & relax the surrounding muscles cause very intense pain, so the supported bridge pose brought on very sharp, intense pain, & really the only pose in this video that felt nice for me today was the swan pose. I definitely learned/was reminded of useful things from this though! This practice didn't quite have the intended effect on me of being nourishing & relaxing, but it did pretty directly force me to notice how gentle I need to be with my hip at the moment and it reminded me through the intense feelings of restlessness that I've really been slipping in my mindfulness practice & that I need to be meditating a lot more. In that sense, definitely a very helpful video! Hopefully I'll get to a point in the near future where I'll be able to experience the full intended effects of this practice. 💛
