      Very very interesting. I've been reading on this topic. I've always had gut problems, severe constipation, and prone to depression for 30 years. Recently quit Effexor. The anxiety is awful, runaway thoughts. Don't want to go back on antidepressants though.

      @@stellaancimer8505 hey, thank you :) i'm glad it works for you. So currently I am eating normal again, but when my gut make problems i consider eating Meat and Fruit again. I bought Sertaline (50mg), but haven't started yet. I would, if my anxiety flare up again. Wish you all the best too :)

    Anticholinergic ssris are unfortunate. Why would i want to block acetylcholine?

    • @RittenhousePsych
      @RittenhousePsych  10 місяців тому +3

      Great question. The anticholinergic effects of many psychiatric medications tend to be a side effect, that is not related to the actual purpose of the medication (i.e. these side effects are not intended). If someone is particularly vulnerable to these side effects, it is important to discuss with their provider, as medications (even within the same class) have significantly different risks of these side effects. Thank you for participating in the discussion! - Dr. Pagnani

      However I want to add it’s the only one I’ve tried that actually works for anxiety and has less side effects

    What is your recommended dose for lexapro for ocd. I'm on 10 and seeing some improvement on physical anxiety but still not stop rumination. I try not to engage but they just keep coming

    • @RittenhousePsych
      @RittenhousePsych  Рік тому +3

      OCD often requires high end (or even 50% higher than FDA approved for depression) doses of SSRIs. So, it's not uncommon for a patient of mine with OCD to take 20 (or even 30 mg) of lexapro. It's important to be monitored closely and to discuss directly with your provider, as there can be side effects. However, please do not be discouraged if you are still having troubling symptoms at your current dose. Both bulimia and OCD tend to respond well to this type of dosing. Sincerely, - Dr. Pagnani

      How are you going now? Got prescribed Zoloft today. Ruminating is fucking insane & I can barely function

    • @blktegs
      @blktegs 4 місяці тому +1

      I am on 20 and doing alot better. Rumination is still something your gonna have to choose not to do. It's a compulsion. It makes it alot easier to stop

      @@blktegs thankyou. Non stop rumination has just destroyed my mental health. Glad to hear it’s easier to stop. Hopefully after learning how to disengage from the ruminating I can do it off the meds too.

    • @blktegs
      @blktegs 4 місяці тому +1

      @overcomingwithin yep it destroyed me. I didn't sleep. It was nonstop. When you stop ruminating you will feel worse. Your mind is trying to bring you back to rumination. Just keep with your daily task that you always have done with the feeling of anxiety and headache and all the other stress response issues and don't ruminate
