This era of Zeppelin live is the absolute definition of what a rock concert should be. The look, the sound, the emotion, set the standard for all that came after. 200 years from now when the world asks "what was a rock concert", the answer will be ""Mid 70s Led Zeppelin".
I saw them in 1974. I have never seen anything better - before or since. I have tickets to see Robert Plant in June 2023 in Taos, NM! Outdoors in the Rockies - what could be better? Well, maybe Led Zeppelin again, but sadly, that won't happen.
One of my favourites too...give that Earls Court version of 'In my time of dying' a try too...if you thought Jimmy went wild in this one that one will blow you away after a ridiculous display of slide guitar.
SalvoG, I appreciate that you appreciate the comments and input. I never imagined that 30 years down the line from when I listened to LZ that somehow it would all come around once again and be appreciated by a whole new/newer generation.
This is one of my favorite Zep songs, if not my favorite. It is magnigicant. I totally understand what you are saying. The way it starts rocking after the soft acoustic opening, the hook and melody, the closing circling back around. It is just magical. Almost otherworldly.
Led Zeppelin is my all time favorite band. I've never heard anything by them that I don't like. Geniuses. A pleasure to see that you're so into them. I'll be watching your reactions, thank you. ✌️❤️
Jimmy Page is the wizard of the dark strings! Jimmy always improvs guitar solos in every concert! That's why the songs are never the same when you go to a concert you don't know what you're going to get! Not predictable! Which what makes Led Zeppelin great! And the goat!
He was talking to a guy from his home town who kept whistling….said enough already basically. He then made a reference to Wolverhampton, the football (soccer) team from Plants area of England which he was…and still is a CRAZY fan of. Attends all their matches when he’s home. Plant often has said that he would have wanted to play professional soccer if music hadn’t grabbed him. He was very athletic until his injuries in 1975 car crash
Can I just say what a joy it has been to watch you on your Zeppelin journey….from never hearing a Zep song to knowing they are the GOATS!!! I smiled so big when you were singing the riff, seeing your whole face light up when you heard Hey lady, & of course Jimmy’s solo blowing your mind……this is why we love Zeppelin!!!! Fabulous reaction Sal ☮️
My favourite concert of Led Zeppelin! Robert's voice changed through to his vocal cords problems but for me it sounds great here! Keep on with their concert reactions and you won't be disappointed. One of the best Jimmy's solos here as well. Keep in mind that their concerts were never the same. Both Jimmy and Robert improvised and that's why they're so special!!
Led Zeppelin live, you got a different version of every song, on every different night played differently, every time...that's what made Zeppelin so dynamic...
Okay, love your reaction and appreciation here, as well as you picking up on certain enigmatic bits and pieces. First, improvisation defined Zeppelin live shows. They had total confidence in their musicianship, so they had the ability to take twists and turns with their songs, while keeping it from running off the rails. It's important to remember that there was no rythym guitar, so Jimmy had to do it all. He didn't have the luxury of layering guitar tracks like the studio versions, so he had to be extremely inventive on stage live. As far as Plant jiving at the end to the audience, he obviously had friends at that show he knew, the guy with the whistle for instance, and Robert riffs about his pie shop and some soccer (football) talk before the segue into the next song. Earl's Court is in England, so many folks the band knew were there.
The version of in the Evening you were about to listen to is EXCELLENT, you should absolutely check it out, Jimmy goes berserk in the solo as well, it's really worth it, trust me.
Hi. Wanted to recommend the entire 26 minutes of Dazed and Confused from the Madison Square Garden concert. It's the greatest guitar performance ever done. The best part is towards the end. You may have to pause it a few times to get it to post. This one is a must !
Their live shows have WAY longer guitar solos...they are the masters of IMOROV!! Thats their thing live!!🎸🎶🎶🎸🎶 Not only could listen to Robert sing all day...but could listen to him talk just as long!!🎶
The best live version is from “how the west was won”, recorded at the Forum in LA in 1972… amazing sound quality, and Robert was still able to sing the chorus in the original higher octave. You must check out that version. Also, we all love the Page/Plant stuff, so don’t hesitate to react to it. The performance from Detroit you were planning on listening to was amazing, so I hope you circle back around to it. “In the evening” is already an amazing track, but in these Page/Plant shows they replaced the bridge with the slow middle section from “carouselambra”. It fits really well!
Great video and one of my favorite Led Zeppelin songs as well. And that was the thing with Zeppelin live, you never knew what was coming next, even from one show to the next because it was played live and in the moment. I hate it when people say jimmy page was a sloppy guitar player, he took chances and went for it and came up incredible solos when he was on. When he wasn't maybe he sound sloppy but I would rather have that then just playing it the way it sounds on the record every night. Led Zeppelin had incredible chemistry and could change pace or direction any moment. Simply the best in my opinion
All Zeppelin concerts are a bit different. Yes live they ad-lib all the time. They are so in tune with each other that they know how to interact with each other without a spoken word. I do not know of another band that can jam on stage and not miss a beat. I have said this many times that Zeppelin is a band you must watch live. JUST SAYIN 🎸 🎸 🎸
The improv was the best part of their concerts and they were never exactly the same . Jimmy Played what he felt that night. Not many do that today. If they are trying to sound just like the album on stage I just as soon listen to the album
One my favorite Led Zep songs too I always get a chuckle when Robert mixes the lyrics I can relate to that done it myself during my stint And Jimmy sometimes loves to make a note fit somehow even if he has to play a thousand extra notes to make the connection of the tangents
At the end he was commenting about the music press. In the beginning of the band's career, it was either panned by the music press or ignored, especially in the UK. It took some time for the music press to warm up to them as the press doesn't like admitting it was wrong.

Never try and antiquate the live Jimmy Page from the studio Jimmy Page because the studio JP is the springboard for the live JP. It's set up in the studio that way so he can improvise live at will at any time. Great reaction to a really great performance

Yeah that basic riff between verses is so awesome. Always loved it since I'd first heard it.
Trampled Underfoot from this concert is excellent. In My Time of Dying and Bron Y Aur Stomp as well

Just so you know. Zep was the masters of improv. That's why they had to end it after Bonzo passed away. No other drummer could keep up.
I was there!
The next one, In My Time of Dying, has got to be one of their most awesome performances!! Do it next!
This video is a gem! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Love your your reactions ❤❤❤❤❤
This is so good! Everything from the Earls Court shows is excellent from what I've seen.
never played the same song twice. it still amazes me how they can stay so "tight" when every member of the band improvises on the fly
The version of in the Evening you were about to listen to is EXCELLENT, you should absolutely check it out, Jimmy goes berserk in the solo as well, it's really worth it, trust me.
jimmy improvised every solo he ever played lol
You need to listen to this version of In My Time of Dying. It's must see for any Zeppelin fan.
Page required a strong band so he could feel free to go nuts and they would hold it all together. It's all in the chemistry.
This is one of my favourite Zeppelin songs but for me the best version is 1972 , Los Angeles. It is on the compilation album 'How the West was won'.
