  • Complete tour of the brand-new 2024 HANSE 410. This is a World Exclusive first review by us at last week's 2023 Cannes boat show. There are things we love about this boat and one or two changes that we don't. The New Hanse 410 is a good production sailboat, but can it stand out in the crowd?

      Glad you like it, I just think that the woodwork in the older Hanse was better than the new ones, but as the design goes, the new Hanse are good-looking sailboats.

      No it’s just things are changing in the production boat world and I think there are some things that could do with better quality control when they leave the factory.

    I've found Hanse sailboats quite likeable but I cant get myself to like the unfinished look of the deck underside partition dividers in the forward cabin & especially the portside galley which looks exceedingly unfinished generally.

      Hanse used to be at the top of the food change when it came to production sailboats, but We are beginning to see that even though the Hull and rigging, etc., are still good, the interior fit-out is not what it used to be. The quality of the fittings is cheap and poorly constructed, and I wonder how they would stand up to continued use.

      Great tour of this boat and thanks for the comment on the flimsy cabinets. It would indeed be a fine Med Boat and I really liked the larger engine option as well, the galley, the single rudder and the in Mast Furling Sloop plus bowsprit options. One dislike, and one deal killer for me - dislike port and Starboard split Cockpit tables, deal killer is the outside of the Med 5 ft 6.9 inches very unfriendly Shoal Draft . you have to take a lot of e xtra care with a 5 ft Draft in places like the Bahamas and the ICW and so many other places, and I've done the Med to Death thanks. Still No silly Twin Rudders, so a very Big Thumbs Up. 👍 Best Wishes, Fair Winds, and Safe Travels. Bob still Landlocked in Wales. ❤😁

      ok that one stayed. Thanks for the great tour I really like this boat at first glance, shame about the cabinets though. This will be a really nice Med boat for someone, One minor grouch - I do not like port and Starboard split Cockpit tables, but a central one may be an option, but the Outside the Med Deal Killer for me is the 5 ft 6.9 inches shallow Draft. There are so many places you have to take a lot of extra care with a 5 ft Draft, in the Bahamas, ICW, and so many other places, it's sad really, I like the build quality of Dufour, but their shallowest Draft is 5 ft 5 inches ? 😢 Still I've just sent a Broker my requirements for a tide me over Sailboat to get me to the Caribbean, prior to ordering a New Island Packet, as Piggybank filling time is Rapidly approaching fingers crossed, or put in the order prior to leaving, just have to see how it goes, so could be fun to see what they come up with before the end of this year. Might be there for the 2024 Atlantic Rally arrival, you never know, am I thinking Positive enough ? Well as Sis just got me a Donut, I'll take that as a positive confirmation that the light at the end of the tunnel isn't an approaching express train. Best Wishes, Fair Winds, and Safe Travels. @@brownnoise357 It's happening a lot, with comments coming and going. I really wanted to like this sailboat, and you know well that we are fans of Hanse. A Split table makes sense, especially if your boat is 50ft and bigger and you can fill in the centre part, but it is done so it's easier to walk through the middle. This is a charter boat 100%, and your money would be spent on a Hanse 418 or, at this price, a second-hand Hase 50ft something. Good luck with the new boat, Bob we are waiting for that call for a week's holiday in the BVI's and being stuck in Wales isn't too bad it's a beautiful part of the UK

      @@SVTONICBoatWives tbh, for the Island Packet as nobody has really done thorough testing, and as mostly it's a quick Sail, I was thinking you could break new ground in cooperation with a Caribbean Organisation and that would help enable me not to be on the boat with you and potentially influence the review. So could you guys manage say a few weeks ? should be able to sort something to help a fair number of islands as well as a nice Videa Series for you, as well as a "What is This Boat Really like to live with " aspect. There's Something odd about 3 week periods with holidays for example. At 2 weeks, arteries recharged Can't Wait to get back? bit that third week, everything changes, and you get to see things such that you don't Care if you Never go back. In shock News, I might even get a tide me over Sailboat with a Six Foot Draft just to get me to Florida Shock Horror. 😁😁😁 Best Wishes and Fair Winds. Bob. 👍⛵️✨️✨️✨️❤️

      PS just a thought, if it's still running, and with what's coming, it might not, you guys could could get a perfect out of Hurricane Season start with the Atlantic Rally Crossing for great videos as well ? arriving in the Caribbean in January ? With luck the possibly Super El Nino effects will be well and truly over ? Mid Winter in the Northern Hemisphere generally not a great time for boat deliveries and such ? Though could get deliveries from Florida to the Caribbean around then. 🤔 Bob.

    I will never own another Hanse. Abysmal build quality. I seemed to repair the furniture almost daily it was so flimsy. The main bulkhead was not glassed in adequately leading to a collapsed mast step and the rig jumping off the step. Leaks were in plentiful supply. The fridge compressor was installed with no ventilation so no way out for the heat. And so on. One of the worst built boats I have ever had the misfortune of "enjoying".

    • @deerfootnz
      @deerfootnz 10 місяців тому

      @@SVTONICBoatWives It was a 430e. Though I don't think the problem is model specific. All the production boats, mono or multi have similar problems. I have been cruising or delivering since 1984 and I have racked up 200,000 miles of sailing in that time. All production boats have their issues. None of them are fit for duty as live- aboard blue water cruisers. Having said that - if that's what you can afford - then do it with my approval....you will just have to work harder and back off much earlier. It's better to "run what you brung"

    • @deerfootnz
      @deerfootnz 10 місяців тому

      Than not do it. But it's hardly optimal. If you can afford a Schumacher or a Radford or a Dashew, then please google those designers and do that. Even a Hylas...though God forbid any roller furling main.

    Sailing used to be getting from A to B using the wind. Where does all this useless plastic crap go at end of life? I love the Ocean and sailing but sailors need to realise they are part of the problem.
