Fun point, there is a theory out there that the reason Aliens don't visit us. Is because Humans are unusually militaristic, to the point that our military technology is much further ahead than most alien cultures in the galaxy. Because these cultures never developed the societal drives for the levels of conflict we see on earth. Now I highly doubt that to be the case, cause war is a fundamental tool to solve conflicts.
A pretty good response to this type of comment is this "perhaps the warfare that alien species partake in is more catastrophic than human warfare, much like the divide of warfare between Europe when it was just starting to colonize the America's, there was a divide of how brutal a war is between the Aztec people, and the Spanish or European people."
What I mean by what I think I worded poorly, is that aliens won't visit us because they're fighting an even bloodier war between themselves, in European style of warfare, it was basically peasants with sharpened hoes and pitchforks going at each other, while is mesoamerica, wars were fought exclusively between the warrior class, as they I believe, avoided civilian bloodshed.
Cinematography wise, it is an interesting contrast point to have everything else greyed out slightly while blood and fire and the glimmer of steel are the most visually eye-catching things.
