    “Why don’t aliens visit us?”
    Humans fighting over which tyrannical regime gets ownership of a shitty little line on a map:

    • @teaser6089
      @teaser6089 Місяць тому

      Fun point, there is a theory out there that the reason Aliens don't visit us.
      Is because Humans are unusually militaristic, to the point that our military technology is much further ahead than most alien cultures in the galaxy.
      Because these cultures never developed the societal drives for the levels of conflict we see on earth.
      Now I highly doubt that to be the case, cause war is a fundamental tool to solve conflicts.

    • @joshwolf6932
      @joshwolf6932 Місяць тому +2

    • @SirMilkBottle
      @SirMilkBottle Місяць тому +4

      A pretty good response to this type of comment is this "perhaps the warfare that alien species partake in is more catastrophic than human warfare, much like the divide of warfare between Europe when it was just starting to colonize the America's, there was a divide of how brutal a war is between the Aztec people, and the Spanish or European people."

    • @SirMilkBottle
      @SirMilkBottle Місяць тому

      What I mean by what I think I worded poorly, is that aliens won't visit us because they're fighting an even bloodier war between themselves, in European style of warfare, it was basically peasants with sharpened hoes and pitchforks going at each other, while is mesoamerica, wars were fought exclusively between the warrior class, as they I believe, avoided civilian bloodshed.

    "In some smothering dream, you too could pace Behind the wagon we flung him in, And watch the white eyes writhing in his face, His hanging face, like devil's sick of sin, If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood, Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs, Obscene as cancer, Bitter as the cud, Of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues,- My Friend, you could not tell with such high zest To children ardent for some desperate glory, The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est Pro patria mori."
    - Final verse of the poem "Dulce et decorum est" by Wilfred Owen, 1917

    It's perplexing to think that if the situation were any more different, many of the men who fought and died with such ferocious brutality against one another here could have been friends. They were just soldiers, and soldiers are ordinary men in extraordinary conditions, pushed to do things by the country they call allegiance to by killing an enemy they can't understand in an area they hold no personal connection to.
    War is dirty business, and whether or not it's justified at times is none of my concern. The truth of the matter is, it happens, we live through it, we learn to live with it, and reflection of the past is a luxury granted to those lucky enough to survive.
    So, you can't really blame the German soldiers here. Neither could you the opposing French, British, or American forces either. Because in war like this, it's not about who's right, it's about who's left behind to tell their story.
    As an avid player of FPS games it's things like this that help distinguish the difference between a game and reality to me. Battlefield 1 is an incredible game that I have a blast playing, but you couldn't ever convince me to go through what these men had to contend with. Anyone who thinks otherwise is ignorent, naïve, or a fool.
