    Kretschmann brings depth and complexity to a character who could easily have been one-dimensional. A truly underrated performance in such an intense film

      @@larsgenrich1464 They werent. Its a common myth that just wont die because people seem to love it.
      In reality Boss was merely one of the many producers of those uniforms while two SS guys designed the SS uniforms. That being said the guys in the video arent even SS, yet their uniforms still look quite sharp. It was the overall style of german uniforms of that age which really appears to be timeless.

      @@larsgenrich1464 They were not "created" by Boss, but manufactured. Boss was one of many govt contractors at the time.
      Something still common today.
      Texas Instruments, the calculator company, makes rockets and anti-tank missiles used right now in Ukraine and Gaza.
      Same logic.

    Rumours say he also went face to face with Indiana Jones by the end of the war.

How I know now, I saw a lot of movies with Thomas but I'd never see him there😁 Maybe it was "Rohtenburg" (2006) or "Head in the clouds", I don't know. And only now I watched The Pianist, and that's it.. The best actor!!!❤️

    I've just started "Cassino" by James Holland, and in it he quotes a German officer as saying "We came to hate despatch riders; they never brought good news..." On another note, but also regarding messengers, Napoleon's Chief of Staff, Berthier, would send the same message to the same recipient with three different riders, each using a different route, and never considered the message delivered until he had the received a receipt for it from the recipient.

      ​@@fanactorsspeaking of the gorgeous architecture, I read that when Hitler met Speer and they started designing the new Berlin together, Hitler then authorized tons of money towards demolishing and building the new stuff that could have been used towards the war effort.. I'm curious like what percentage of the economy was allocated towards less useful goals like this, giganic tanks that were impractical, etc

      @@matt_phx Remer was a political animal, and an idiot. He was promoted well beyond his abilities as a result of his part in putting down the coup. Unlike his portrayal in the film, he was too stupid to figure out on his own what was happening. He commanded one of the Führer brigades in the Ardennes as a Generalmajor and got them shot to pieces. He wasn't fleeing "persecution" he was fleeing a jail sentence for not keeping his big mouth shut.

      If you have never spent time in a military yourself you would be surprised the amount of and types of crackhead officers you might find there, basically people who get constantly mad for no reason, especially in peace situations, and since he's in the reserve not the eastern front he gets bored with his life.
