If by cravat you mean the formal cravat worn on the outside of the shirt, then basically never (it's not part of any modern formal dress codes anymore). If you're talking about the casual ascot (the form worn under the shirt), then on a casual basis only (or if you're such a big cheese that you can wear whatever you want to wear at work). You will have to make sure you have the confidence to wear it, because to most people it will appear like a very dated item to wear (like a smoking jacket).
Great to see a video without a sponsor plug. It’s not that I mind that your videos are sponsored, or that you plug your sponsors, but it’s videos like these that remind us that you’re in it for the community and as a service to men. I love alpha m., but Aaron’s videos have become so commercialized it’s kind of lost some of the soul it had a year or two ago. Keep up the great work Antonio!
I made a similar post and look and behold, I scrolled down and saw yours. "Aaron’s videos have become so commercialized" - EXACTLY. I'm tired of it. I still watch him because he's a great guy overall, but man is he too excessive in his product placement. I mean, he did a house "tour" and even made a product placement there...of a mattress that he also have showed to us many times before. Ridiculous.
Calvin Ray I’m with you there, been following RMRS and Alpha for about 2 years now, and while I think the former has greatly improved, I think Aaron has made some changes for the worse. It just feels like instead of saying “ok, here’s a great video idea... let’s see if I can fit a quick sponsor in here” it’s more like “how can I make a commercial about this product and see if I can fit in some stuff people want to hear”. Maybe that’s harsh, and I’m still a big m fan, but it sometimes feels like his content is an afterthought meant to package a commercial.
Michael Downing Exactly my thoughts! It no longer feels genuine. It’s a shame that whenever I click on Alphams videos now I always think “Oh what product is he going to place this time?” Antonio’s videos still gives that “genuine” informative video vibe. I watch his videos with the “I’m about to get some useful, cool information” still.
Calvin Ray and Michael, nowadays, if I ever watch an AlphaM video, I do it solely with this in mind: "I wonder how he's gonna artificially fit the ad into it this time!" Unsubscribed over a year ago. Sadly, near all the style youtubers have descended into infomercialism.
This is why I love Antonio and watch his channel more than the "others. He actually still makes videos because he loves what he does and wants to provide informative content to his viewers. No excessive, redundant, annoying and stupid item/product placement. I actually WANT to donate to Antonio's cause (whatever it may be). Is there anyway I can do this as a gesture of thank you? Props to you Antonio. You've inspired me for the last five years.
U know man, listening to u, watching the suggested videos pop up, podcast, thousands of articles.... You have put SO MUCH WORK into building your empire man.. it’s really mind boggling!! So much work.. admirable and awe I sliding.
Even when I don’t wear a neck tie, I still fully button the shirt to the top. I like the “Invisible Tie” look, to wear and see. It is a popular and trendy / cool style amongst younger guys in the UK.
I wear suits more for stylistic reasons, so generally if I'm not wearing a tie (usually knitted), I have a colorful dress shirt on (I also got the pink floral shirt from GrandFrank, and I'm in love with it!). I will wear a white shirt w/o a tie, but generally if it has a more bold pattern or it's a darker color, like black or navy, I'll wear it w/o a necktie.
When wearing a suit with no tie the collar of the shirt is the most important part. If it looks sloppy then you do. How about doing a video on the different types of collars for dress shirts.
what are your thoughts on a 3 piece suit, with no neck tie? i think it looks super slick, kinda bring down the formality to match a standard suit, its like looking as good as possible , yet still looking unique and fresh
I definitely agree with the statement about pocket squares - I also think that going without a tie is a good excuse to wear a boutoniere/buttonhole and pocket square combo, as all three together looks a bit too much outside of formal wear. I really enjoy wearing a fake silk rose and a burgundy pocket square with my dinner suit over a burgundy shirt with no tie (obviously, never to a black tie event though) - makes me feel great and looks amazing at a casual dinner or date. Also, you failed to point out (although clearly demonstrated by your attire in this video) that button-down collars are very useful when going without a tie.
Brilliant. Thank you another tremendous video Antonio.. Put all the key pieces together. Appreciate your hard work and efforts here. Pleasure to have met you at the Mayfair at the London, UK event. You are class act.
Here is the situation with me. I’m almost 16 years old and I love wearing formal wear every day. Sports jackets, button shirts, ties and bow ties even full suits. Sometimes I’m in the mood for a specific set up for my outfit. I know the rule is to undo the top two buttons if your not wearing a tie. However I actually have a good bit of chest hair that is visible if I do that. Should I just do it anyway? I’m also a fan of the look of all buttons done on the shirt with no tie but that’s just my opinion.
Great video. Thank you. I never thought of some of the options you had displayed. Also it was great that the video was owned by “RMRS” and not a sponsor. Thank you for that. This video felt like the old you.
Thanks for another great update. Really love where you go through the suit rack and show different combinations; any chance of a more in-depth video on shirt/suit color combinations? Finding it hard to break out of the safety of the dark blue suit, light blue shirt look!
I would suspect the compliments would be balanced out by the number of people silently judging you as someone who does not know how to dress properly. I can't imagine the paragons of sprezzaturra in Italy going with untucked shirts with a suit.
Antonio i think you are the only person that could have an answer for this... imagine you are used to wear hiking boots (like 16 hours per day for several years) and then you got transfered to a work at office / court so then you need to wear suit 4 days of a week, what formal boots would you recommend? I'm in an alike situation and i just can't find any boot that feel sturdy, locks the ankle and at the same time looks formal. I already lost faith into find a formal boot that would do it and i started to search more for a tactical/hiking boot that just doesn't scream range-dude but so far i had no luck
Thanks for the answer, i will give them a try, i got some chukkas but they were just too informal, the chelseas isn't something i tried because they can't be adjusted much since there is no lacing
Felipe Gordillo Corvalán I would encourage you to ease into the change of attire to your new environment. Don’t try and wear what everyone else wares. You will end up buying pieces that you will not be comfortable in and you will never ware.
Gary Abrahams that it's a really good advice, unfortunately also b people treats you as they see you, what i hope to make is to be able to match into this environment keeping my core, don't think i don't consider your words i just think i should try to modulate everything :)
I chose not to wear an undershirt if only because I am immensely proud of my chest hair and it is my own "neck tie" of sort I use to express my own masculinity.
Hey Antonio, Recently I’ve watched a UA-cam video, where they insisted to never wash your denim. They’ve even asked Timmy Hilfiger and even he said, I’ve never washed my denim.
I have a question sir. I want to try wearing waistcoats, but I'm most seen wearing a dark green, almost olive, overcoat. I wear it everywhere because I live in the PNW and it keeps me warm. I either wear this coat with a black hoodie, or just a turtle neck. How would I make a waistcoat work? Sorry for the long explanation.
I really wish you had added in about wearing a lapel pin with the 'no tie' outfits. It's the reason I watched the video but thank you anyway, very informative.
Hello Antonio I have a overall question that may diverge from this actual video topic but wanted something that was recent to ensure it would be answered. I am a 36 chest 6’ young (18 to be exact) I love suits and have a suit already (although black) and have a faint blue plaid blazer. I am getting another suit but my question is would a Double Breasted work well with my frame and overall suggested. I have always loved the look of a double breasted suit coat and have saved up to ensure I get one that properly fits at all aspects and well made. Would you you suggest this and would you think based off of what I have said would work with a 36 Chest frame?
Antonio, it's not very related but I have a question I couldn't find any information on: Is it okay to wear, say a blazer and slacks that are very close in colour but not exactly i.e not a suit or is this a mistake? Also, does it make a difference if it's a different texture? Could I for instance run a navy wool sport coat and navy cotton slacks/chinos? Thank you.
To me it's not the best idea. It gives you the look of "I really wanted to wear a suit, but I don't have one, so here's my best attempt at piecing it together". I would definitely go into more contrast between the slacks and jacket to show that this is intentional.
Hey Antonio, great video. I have a longer question regarding style I'd like to ask you, so what would you say is the best way to contact you and expect a response? Thank you in advance.
It depends on the situation, i.e. If you're at a wedding and not part of the Bridal Party, go for it; but if you're the keynote speaker at an International Convention, go with the tie. It also depends on the suit, i,e. a seersucker or linen suit (any lite to medium colored suit) looks good without a tie; but the more formal, more structured and darker, a tie is a safe bet. Example: If you are a private investigator and wear a mid-blue linen suit and drive a '66 mustang convertible; lose the tie .... 😎
My favorite part is literally unbuttoning about two buttons while wearing the suit top. Collar has to be strong though. I love wearing a suit without a tie! Only after interviews...lol.
Hi, Antonio. How about a 3-piece-suit without a tie, like the character Patrick Jane, from The Mentalist? I didn't know Million Dollar Collar. Amazing. I'm getting mine now. Thanks
Always wear a V neck T shirt underneath your button up shirts. Cause a regular crew neck will always show up, even when you only unbutton the collar of your shirt.

I've seen a lot of students these days making attempts at trying to put together formal outfits based upon a suit, and frequently they look very infantile - e.g. black suits, black shirt, bright yellow tie - so try to avoid that if you feel the temptation. Also, if you do wear a suit to college, if you can afford it get a separate suit (and better quality, and definitely not black) for the university interviews (and job interviews etc.).
zoukatron for my school formal wear is basically anything that isn’t trainers/ sneakers, no t shirts or casual shirts and no jeans or chinos and stuff like hoodies, the suit I have for uni interviews is a wool mix grey suit.
So pretty much definitely a suit then. A useful alternative with be going with separates, the problem with having a single suit for college is that it is going to get knackered fairly quickly. If you wear (for example) a navy sport coat with multiple mid-grey trousers (perhaps in subtly different patterns), then it's easier to replace them if they get ruined without worrying about whether they match or not (this is actually what I have done a lot for work, given that lots of office jobs no longer require suits). It potentially runs the risk of looking like a school uniform (my school uniform was navy blazer and grey trousers), but as long as you avoid things like contrasting piping on the sport coat and go for patterns like herringbone or Prince of Wales on the trousers it should be fine.
I wouldnt wear a non tie outfit with a black suit. One is completely casual and one full on formal. It bites too much in my opinion. Same for buying really informal type of boots like loafers in black suede. Its too much of a contradiction.Video was very enjoyable, though. Take care Antonio.
Something I normally do and think it looks nice .. I saw from your thumbnail and thought you would mention it... What's your take on buttoning the last button but don't wear a neck tie. More like in the thumbnail of this video
It really depends on the city you’re in. Here in Boston, for example, when they say ‘business casual’, that means show up in your underwear and a Hawaiian shirt
Antonio, I have been watching your channel for a little while now and really enjoy your content. But I have to confess your jacket, shirt and pocket square combination really looks out dated in this video. Sorry but it's just the way I see it. Hope you and your family a very Happy New Year..
When is the right time to wear a suit without a necktie?
Brother i have been trying to send you a mail but every time I send one it says that your mail box is full.
always

Real Men Real Style Wow Antonio, I kinda like this video, thank you for uploading it.😃👍
"There is always a dress code." Some of the best advice when it comes to style-related success. Bravo, Antonio. Great video, as always.
Appreciate it Steven! Thank you.

Excellent tips! I tried this a couple weeks ago and definitely could've made some improvements. Great learning points. Thanks, Antonio!
you pointed to the grey suit you thought was casual with "peak lapels" but peak lapels are more formal than notch lapels
I don't have suit but I love watching him
Thanks!

Antonio, google the character “Johnathan Irons” from COD Advance Warfare. THAT character is dressed in a suit with no tie. Looks so cool.
One of the best videos about this topic I have seen so far. Thank you!
Great video! I enjoy business casual settings, never attempted the look you just addressed. I am prepared once the opportunity arises.
Super!
Another great topic Antonio ! Also the content is very informative and in depth. Hats off to your dedication !
Brilliant. Thank you another tremendous video Antonio.. Put all the key pieces together. Appreciate your hard work and efforts here. Pleasure to have met you at the Mayfair at the London, UK event. You are class act.
been waiting for this one! I can never figure it out!
I too would have liked to see the outfits together - a picture is worth a thousand words - but thanks for making this video for us 👍

Sounds like you have a cold ! Great Video as usual hope to get better soon
You sound a little under the weather... get well soon! Great genuine and helpful video. Keep it up!
my favorite is wearing a formal suit with untucked dress shirt and no tie with new balance sneakers. i always get compliments
Untucked dress shirt?
yeah, it conveys that cool italian "i don't care" style
I would suspect the compliments would be balanced out by the number of people silently judging you as someone who does not know how to dress properly. I can't imagine the paragons of sprezzaturra in Italy going with untucked shirts with a suit.
@@BANHMIZON I could not picture someone rocking an untucked dress shirt. Must be hideous.
Love a navy suit if had to choose charcoal or that navy all day! Would say navy even works better without a tie!
The support article... It's been a while! Good going!
Thanks!
Love the light blue and the dark blue shirt

Chelsea boots are your go-to boots for a suit. :)

Besides, it looks sexy as hell!
Hi I know this is off topic. I would like to know the model and brand of the watch shown in your intro. I really liked it.
Any thoughts on pairing a full suit with tops other than a dress shirt (turtlenecks, polos or even T-shirts) for the same "not so formal look"?
Hey Antonio, Recently I’ve watched a UA-cam video, where they insisted to never wash your denim. They’ve even asked Timmy Hilfiger and even he said, I’ve never washed my denim.
Great video !
Btw, can you make a video about a suit for a wedding. Yes, it's my wedding in 7 months.
Nice video appreciate your tips, Could you review on pinning the button without a tie, what's your take on that¿ I'd wanna know
I have a question sir.
With the suit no tie being more a casual, do you recommend avoiding French cuffs with this look?
Really liked that battle scene pocket square, where did you get it?
Hey, can I use scarves with Polo Shirt? rly want to know
I really wish you had added in about wearing a lapel pin with the 'no tie' outfits. It's the reason I watched the video but thank you anyway, very informative.
I wear a crew neck vest (under shirt) to conceal my chest hair.
Appreciate it Antonio thanks again and have an awesome day 🎊🎇🎆🎉🙌👍
You too!
Whenever I go tieless, I like to use a necklace instead, nothing too long though usually 20-24" length. This way it still brings attention to my face.
Antonio, love the pocket square with the Battle of Jersey, where did you get it from?
Hello Antonio I have a overall question that may diverge from this actual video topic but wanted something that was recent to ensure it would be answered. This video is very interesting and I didn’t know you can wear suit without a tie, interesting
Ive been waiting for this
There you go...
Good information 👍🏻
Thanks Antonio!
I spat my coffee on my screen at the "Chewbacca thing" :D
Antonio, it's not very related but I have a question I couldn't find any information on: Is it okay to wear, say a blazer and slacks that are very close in colour but not exactly i.e not a suit or is this a mistake? is buttoning the top button of your shirt neardy ?
Hey Antonio, great video. I have a longer question regarding style I'd like to ask you, so what would you say is the best way to contact you and expect a response? Thank you in advance.
Here you go: www.realmenrealstyle.com/contact/

Exactly - wear it at the appropriate event.
My favorite part is literally unbuttoning about two buttons while wearing the suit top. Collar has to be strong though. I love wearing a suit without a tie! Only after interviews...lol.
Definitely!
Hi, Antonio.
How about a 3-piece-suit without a tie, like the character Patrick Jane, from The Mentalist?
I didn't know Million Dollar Collar. Amazing. I'm getting mine now.
Thanks
What do you think of "bold" suits? I mean suits which aren't the usual blue/grey/black and instead going for purple, pink, green, red, so on?
I talked about green suits here: www.realmenrealstyle.com/green-suit/
Thank you very much, it was a very interesting article.
Happy new year in advance everyone 🙌
this video very awsome i like this channel
Tom Ellis Pulls this look very well in "Lucifer" tv searies
Thank you, Antonio,
and a belated merry Christmas!!
Farid - Great seeing you here. Happy holidays.
Can you wear a black under shirt?
Please do a thrift stores of America docuseries.
Lovely !! 💚💜💛❤💙
Thank you!
Good one
Always wear a V neck T shirt underneath your button up shirts. Cause a regular crew neck will always show up, even when you only unbutton the collar of your shirt.
I completely agree.
And it looks tacky as hell! Sorry, but nobody wants to see your underwear. Either keep the shirt buttoned enough to hide it or go without!
Lee Cox Yes definitely! I've seen so many guys make that mistake. A V Neck creates that whole illusion of wearing no undershirt.
Good stuff
Chewbacca. Hell yeah.
wowwww magnífica información !!!!!
Thank you sir!
good
I’m going to sixth form next year and you have to wear formal wear however we don’t have any dry cleaners near and I will only need one suit for university interviews so I was wondering if you could recommend other things I could wear, thanks
Wearing a suit is the best option for formal wear.
Real Men Real Style thank you
Joe Ridley - given that you said 6th form, I assume you're in the UK like me. Shout out to the Chewbacca!! Who has watched the recent starwars??!
Skyline711
I did :)
And honestly, I enjoyed it!
Petar King glad u did bud it was pretty awesome! :)
Something I normally do and think it looks nice .. I saw from your thumbnail and thought you would mention it... What's your take on buttoning the last button but don't wear a neck tie. More like in the thumbnail of this video
Chewbacca 🤣🤣🤣
It really depends on the city you’re in. Here in Boston, for example, when they say ‘business casual’, that means show up in your underwear and a Hawaiian shirt
Judging by what you're wearing in your video, button down collar is OK?
Suit Without Tie? I am trying to combine a turtleneck with a suit, still need a pocket square to finish the look
Pocket square works with the combo!
Do you have a cold?
I like to dress nice but with a tie I feel like I look to old... I don't know? ???
I think wearing suit without neck tie is suitable on Friday at work
Dennis I.D. ....and Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
wish i saw this earlier
What do you think about how asap rocky does his tieless look?
Sorry but lack of a tie shouldn't decide whether you get a promotion or not.
first
to claim to be fifth
Are you sure? :)
Real Men Real Style yes xD
I am pretty sure Jose is the first to do that
Mr. Centeno, no offence please! Have you got a cold or some other condition? Your voice in this video has a nasal sound. Just concerned!
In the parts of the US with real winters, it's common for people to get colds at this time of year

That sound 😂
I Love you harsom nice bye

I don’t see the point to the pocket square it’s looks like a useless accessory with no real purpose.
xWALDOxC6
You have a pocket use it.
It complements and bring everything togheter.
And you can go a bit bolder with it, colour and patterns.
xWALDOxC6 I think originally it was a hankerchief for sneezing into etc
Masamoto6 yeah I thought about that. Very expensive pretty tissue paper. I’m not saying it doesn’t look good tho just not a essential.
Myrslokstok I don’t think it’s an essential like the other 3 points he made. Suits look just as good and more minimal without them.
Antonio, I have been watching your channel for a little while now and really enjoy your content. But I have to confess your jacket, shirt and pocket square combination really looks out dated in this video. Sorry but it's just the way I see it. Hope you and your family a very Happy New Year..
It´s a tie. Not a neck tie. Where else would you wear one if not your neck.
Frank Harrison Knapp well there are different types of ties, like a bow tie so
There you go...
Real Men Real Style 😓you replied and agreed to my comment, day made😍
