Biggest issue with sansar and many social VR apps is that they are empty. Sansars max users in the last 30 days was just 33. VRChat is the only community with enough people to be viable.
I think that's more or less inevitable to have only 1 VR social game dominate the platform because of the limited amount of people that own VR because requirements (pricey rig, pricey headset, private space to work with). Might change in the future when VR might (might) cost about the same as a console, all parts included.
We are always looking to grow the community, that's true. We'd love to see more people join us -- which is why we work with creators like Disrupt to help get the word out there!
And even then VRChat is still lacking of players, many empty servers or few people that just don't even want to talk
@@pingeee Problem is the oasis set unrealistic expectations. It made VR look awesome no doubt, but in reality everything from the level of fidelity to what can be done inside one of these apps is so limited. The level of computation needed to pull something like for like the Oasis off is unfortunately in the realm of quantum. So until the day arrives where super computers are not only available, but affordable a true Oasis is just a pipe dream.
@@GameJunky513 Honestly I don't even care if we can't get insane life like graphics and such, I just want the VR treadmills with full haptic body suits and gloves to finally get the full experience, I really hope we get those soon, the graphics will get there eventually

Sansar is free you only pay for the items you want to buy in the store made from people. its just like going to a mall you are free to enter into the mall and its stores but you still have to pay for the contents of said stores.

so.. played this game for a few hours and I'm just gonna be brutally honest. It feels like a cash grab and on top of that there's very little people to interact with. There's a lot more limitations like in vr chat you can literally be anything there's an avatar for everything and if there's not you can make your own. In this it just feels like a downgraded version of rec room which is a down graded version of vr chat. this message may or may not get deleted, but that's just my opinion about this whole thing. It does seem like a good concept but the fact that you can't be anything or anyone and that for the game to be fun or for you to be fashionable you need to spend money just ruins it for me.

@@Nekotaku_TV It's a social platform delivered in the format of a game, just as Second Life, Sansar's predecessor, and VRChat, Sansar's superior competition, are. It fits under the title of game, just as both of those do.

@@vs3034 there is currently only one out right now, OrbusVR, and it is made by a very small indie team so it is very rough and even that is amazing. I just hope someone is building one in the background.

Same, but my guess is that 3d modelers who've made 1,000+ assets over like 5 years for second life will plop those into the newer markets, making it very hard to filter through the old, out of date models and to find newer artists.
Thats what I'd do if i had a library of old assets that I could turn a profit on ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Ill stick to working on my portfolio, trying to make game ready assets and if there is actually a demand for quality over quantity, I'll think of posting em.

The actual founder of Linden Lab is Philip Rosedale and his new post-Second life thing is called High Fidelity. Its more open and possibly more developer friendly I think. But I thought this video was going to be about NEOS VR.
Honestly watching these videos is a kind of meditation, it’s a break from the ever growing stress in life to just lay down and watch videos about concepts that I’m so fascinated by, it’s almost like listening to music but instead of just listening to a certain genre it’s many genres all in one video.

Shorito personally i dont see the technology even starting until VR is in the mainstream, like as popular as xbox or playstation is now or that it becomes essential to peoples lives. And even by then (which i predict will be about 4-6 years from now) i still think itll take years for the tech to work and then more for it to be safe and logical to release to the public. By that i mean some sort of privacy measure to prevent information from being stolen.But once we sort that out itll be huge

My 2 bucks on Sansar: it is a more "HD" Version of VRChat with really beatiful places (like Aechs Garage or the Basement from Ready Player One and some other cool worlds). BUT: the downside of this is that this works only on PC and wouldn't be possible on a Oculus Quest for example (sure with Oculus Link). And even with a SSD and enough power Sansar needs too much loading time in my opinion. It is a really cool experience but VRChat and Altspace are more faster (but much less beatiful). So i hope they improve it in the future and stay it up :) It is definetly a worth try.

not really like the oasis though, cause it was about gaming. there isnt a game involved. it is very cool, but the oasis is different. i'm trying to design a video game that is oasis-esque. character create any kind of avatar. give them skills from a skill tree that allow different abilities or inventory slots for your many items. play with your avatar and your items in levels or small side games. watch movies videos or even google information or order real life things to be delivered to you. play a main quest that is choice driven and deal with issues by using different game genres. ultimately creating and beating a game of your own design. i love the idea though. the future is bright.

Once more advanced VR comes along, and you can have all 5 senses in the virtual world. I would be worried that you would end up forgetting which world is the real world like something out of inception.

I bought a Oculus Rift finally 2 weeks ago. Its one of if not the best purchase ive made in years, Never had I had this much fun in different games and experiences. Its 100x better than using a controller and staring at a monitor or TV. It doesnt even compare. In VR you can do anything with the controllers as they are tracked with your hands, you can actually reach out and grab stuff with your hands instead of pressing one button. Ive been addicted to beat saber and I am having so much fun every day that I feel like this would be a very adequate way to help with depression, after I play some beat saber I feel so damn good and satisfied.
Seriously if you are watching this video and you are still on the fence about buying a VR headset, Then go and get one!!! VR is getting massive and some of the games on VR and other wordly experiences that you have to see for yourself. Im telling you this stuff is simply mindblowing,. There were several times when I was playing VR games, take Robo Recall for example where I just paused for a sec with my mouth wide open in absolute awe at how much damn fun I was having and the fidelity and immersion there was.
Just simply watching videos of VR games on youtube doesnt do it justice whatsoever.
Sansar was sold to Wookey. Now it resides on kasyyyk in the trees. LL just couldn't pull it off and now they're refocused on doing things in SL.
I bet the OASIS will be awesome in 2025. You can be any avatar you want to be. I have some avatars to choose for myself.

The funny thing is that Ernest Cline, writer of Ready Player One, drew inspiration from Second Life for the OASIS. Then Sansar releases as a VR SL followup, and they include two digital sets from the film adaptation of Ready Player One.
It´s great viewing this movie after years of building in Sansar, thanks for promoting the Sansarians :)

"only two things you can't do in vr" Bro you can't actually LIVE without the real world. Sure you can hike a virtual mountain, but you cant feel the mountain air on your cheeks and throbbing exhilaration as you look out over the summit. You can't feel the sun on your face or splash in a river. You can't form bonds with pets or know what it is to hold your loved ones in your arms. Virtual reality will never exceed the real world. It cannot be replicated.
It is fairly rare to get me excited for the future but this has me exactly that

I think vr games should focus on graphics, physics and the most important is the interraction with objects and everything in the vr world and somehow manage to controll your character just as in Sword Art Online. I think that is the best example for it.

Vrchat is a better alternative, works with quest and has a much larger community. I learned ASL through new friends a while back, check out syrmors latest video "deaf anime girl talks about being bullied in vrchat" or whatever its called. Theres a community for everyone in that game, its beautiful.
We do not run on Quest currently. You also do not need to have a VR rig to play this, you can play in Desktop mode -- in fact, most of our users do play in Desktop mode.

Magic online has been allowing people to cash out of the virtual product they buy/earn/trade/etc for a VERY long time longer than almost any other game that allows it.
Listen, we aren't there yet, technologically speaking so let's just chill for a second and let technology advance before we try to make something like the OASIS. Shit we might also need a J.
