I just find it funny how much stuff needed to happen to get to this point:
- Enemies with powerful hydro and cryo attacks
- Entire sets of characters who want zero ATK stat
- Enemy movement patterns almost exactly the diameter of Bennett’s circle so that they jump out of it if you bursted with Bennett right in front of them instead of offset with them. It’s really noticeable if you try to keep a Fontaine Mek inside Collei’s burst radius which is even smaller than Bennett’s.
- All the buff gimmicks at 50% or 80% HP so that Bennett’s 70% HP heal does not easily trigger the buff
Don't forget that Hoyoverse also had to make a lot of characters not snapshot. It isn't coincidence that the lack of this, something generally added so that DoT characters don't fall behind their instant damage counterparts, is something that many characters started to be without once it was clear Benny was a problem to game balance.
@@Axterix13the no snapshot thing isn’t as bad because Hoyo is typically giving DoT characters higher scalings now to compensate or allowing characters to increase their damage significantly mid rotation.
For example, chiori in a geo team, has scalings on par with the better sub dps in the game. If she did snapshot she may have lost that, and worse, she’d compete with ito for gorou’s 9 seconds of buff time. Ito burst is already 12 seconds, giving him 75% uptime of gorou buff at peak gameplay. Chiori not snap shotting means she will just obtain gorou’s passive buffing immediately when he casts his burst mid rotation
All that, and he's still one of the best characters, too. Crazy.
You're not a real Hydro main if you hate dendro, and if you don't main Hydro, you know nothing about meta.
The roster keeps expanding in a way that Benny also becomes a "niche Pyro" support...
It's so thematic for Benny that his Pyro application on your active character gets you one-shot. He is truly unlucky.
Although the same pyro app on your on fielder, is the reason many of kazuha double swirl set ups work.
The self-aura is a double-edged sword, but overall, I think it's a plus. It enables not only Kazuha Double-Swirl setups, but also Sunfire, which is great for forward vape teams. And it also clears other auras from you, which can have a more negative effect in some cases. He is the only one who can do this, which makes him unique.
Jean can swirl elements off you which you mentioned for sunfire then forgot that it works for every element. Also pretty sure other effects like Barbara's skill that applies hydro can remove their reaction elements like pyro. Bennett's self pyro is just a basic reaction not a special effect.

Venti and Bennett so far are the only characters that were so strong that Hoyo is deliberately making content to try and nerf them.
with venti they are afraid of Ganyu&Ayaka morgana, with Benny they are afraid of national team and its dozens varian. For now they are able to kill Morgana, wonder how they gonna kill national.

Out of the 4 onfielders released in Fontaine, 3 run teams with bennet. Playing within a circle sucks, but until we get 5* replacement, he's not going away.

The pyro archon either becomes our 37th onfield pyro character, or she powercreeps bennett or xiangling. And every single endgame player wants Circle Impact to die in a fire. I think it's a pretty safe guess that she's gonna give teamwide ATK but have no healing, infusion or small annoying circles to stay inside of.
No... I think she should be an AoE healer as well.
If the pyro archon powercreeps Bennett then people are going to use them in the same team. This is axactly what happened with Xingqiu and Yelan.

The only reason Bennet is getting "worse" is because they realized their mistake making a 4 star give the highest attack buff in the game so they made newer characters not rely on him to deal a lot of damage. I still love bennet tho and my wanderer does too.
New 4star are so bad that bennet is like 5star in comparison he has good uptime 200er+ and cheap to build no need for 5star wep
Who said it was a mistake? Maybe they always knew how to counter him and shift the meta away from him all along so they made him look "broken" at the beginning.
@@nathipyrhmn5984 I said it was a mistake because Bennet for the longest time was the best support in the game and most of the 4 stars they released after that paled in comparison. It literally doesn't make any sense for them to make Bennet like that if they already knew how to counter him in the first place. What kind of developer intentionally makes a character fall off after 3 years when it's blatantly obvious that numerous teams rely on him to do most of their damage. That just doesn't make any sense.

He won't go anywhere even if hoyo releases a 5star version of him. The reason is that he is so easy to build and his power spike is on c1 which is pretty early. Also abyss usage rates depend a lot on which characters are better against some specific enemies so having Bennett's usage rate drop for one abyss cycle doesn't tell us the whole story (ex. neuvilette can obliterate anything on this abyss so his usage rate goes up but he is not compatible with Bennett so Bennett's usage rate drops).
If they release new atk buffer that are stronger than him but don't allow their buffs to stack. They might have a way to kill his usage a lot. Still he will always be an easy to get 4* so he will always have that upside.

Let me ask: why won’t Hoyo make new characters that can rival him? Like I imagine a company would want to release new characters people would wanna pull on despite him being used all the time? Like what’s the point of making new characters if people gonna still use the old?
@@InTheEnd75 because even if hoyo makes new characters like him they probably won't be as accessible as him and they surely won't be as easy to build as him. He requires minimal investment and brings maximum value equal to a lot of five stars. This combination won't be recreated by the stingy hoyo.

The most annoying thing about Bennett's burst imo is the Pyro infusion, and it's particularly noticeable in this abyss in all first halves of floor 12. In chamber 1 enemies burn you with dendro, in the second they knock you around with overload, and in the last chamber Coppelia melts all the cryo attacks because of the Pyro aura. Not saying that it's impossible to do it, it's jut very annoying. BUT, is it really a bad thing that Bennett is " falling off" the meta? Imo no, because that keeps me trying new teams and not get bored

Pyro archon would be most likely a 70% Xiangling and 30% Benny, based on the last two playable archons. E skill is off field dmg and burst is a buff or vice versa

For real it feels like every move Hoyo has made since 3.0 has been carefully crafted to make Bennett less valuable or harder to play. Doesn't work with Dendro (except burn-melt), doesn't buff HP scaling carries, doesn't teamwide heal for Furina, etc. I almost never use him any more. I know I have at least once since 4.0 cause I remember being melted by Coppelius' ice blades in abyss. But it's probably only once or twice. I used to like characters who didn't need Bennett since there was only one of him, nowadays I like them because it means he can stay benched.
I have been playing without Bennett since Dendro's introduction. So I guess 3.X is: Bennett is okay, I don't need him tho.
@@tsuwu5260 I looked through my clear history over the last year and saw he showed up about half the time prior to 4.0, but only once since lol. Double dendro teams was the shit in 3.X tho.

I mean you have Wriothesley, Navia and Lyney who use Bennett in their teams. Characters that work with 3 different dps's in that game are maybe archons or busted units like Kazuha.My point is that Bennett is still one of the best choices for even new units
@@kabuuj3400 One of the best choices sure. I never play my Navia with Bennett, and she's probably my strongest DPS atm. It's usually one Furina team and one Nahida team in abyss for me, and Bennett is completely optional in both.
I think you forgot to mention 2 important points:
1 - While he applies pyro to you can be negative, in some cases it can be really positive (Kazuha)
2 - One of the reasons he is falling is the fact few characters snapshot now, even for Childe teams if you need to run from the circle its ok, you are losing some of Childe damage, but you already got his burst and Xianling already snapshotted.

His value lowers for each character that doesn't scale on atk and needs less restriction from circle area.
However, his value also increases for each character that scales off atk that has snapshot mechanics like xiangling and fischl.
What if they release a sword with extremely high base atk (maybe 1k)? My 1111 + noblesse buff becomes 1.5k atk.
With c6, and natlan (pyro focused nation) coming up i think he will gain back relevance there again.
I feel like Benny is facing the same destiny as Venti, which is that they were so op at one point that Hyv purposefully have to indirectly nerf them, making enemies that take advantage of the one weakness that those characters have (like not being able to group big enemies or being infused with pyro so enemies can oneshot you thanks to reactions) and make them appear more and more often in the latest abyss rotations so that they become "unusable" (you can still use them, but they will feel wonky at times). Besides all that they also made Furina which gives you an even higher DMG boost + her elemental skill deals a lot of damage and also it applies hydro which makes her more valuable and versatile than him depending on the scenario. He's still amazing, don't get me wrong, but now he has issues that make him lowkey unusable which sucks to say the least
For us XiaoMains, it's a dream, playing without his damn circle is amazing! Bennett for us, IS DEAD! No circle impact, no hit kills! All Hail for Xiao, Furina, Faruzan and Xianyun!

@@manday2267 there are some situational problems in practice.
If you don't place the burst near the center of the room, you might end up being too far from the next wave. His range is about the radius of the abyss room.
It also prevents you from kiting sideways and manipulating enemy ai in certain ways.
Wanderer is probably the least affected by Bennet’s circle restriction, but not having that restriction would be better for him too. It would also allow him to better kite the enemies in shield-less teams, using his mobility and the A4 dashes to avoid damage.
Bennett is still part of xiao's second BiS team, and most people don't have his premium team. So, xiao mains haven't truly escaped Bennett

Not worse, nothing made him directly worse. He's just less usable for new characters, adding Bennet+Xiangling to any team is like old version of adding hyperbloom to any character to make performance much better lol.

I never did bother building my Bennett, solely because he is too restrictive. It's not like you can't complete the Spiral Abyss without him. Even then, his circle restriction often leads to a loss of DPS unless you can group enemies together, which often means you will want Kazuha in the group, as well. Without Kazuha, he loses a lot of value in my eyes.

sucrose exists, and you probably should use her if you don't have a anemo buffer.

I'm hoping the pyro archon ends up being an upgraded version of Bennet with a field that follows you around which can make Navia and other close range attack scaling characters feel a lot better (potentially Arlecchino as well), but without the healing similar to Tingyun from Star Rail
I was never using Bennet and i am not planning to, so nothing really changeds for me. The circle restriction was one of big reasons for that. But anyway, after more than three years, it is about time, to get some better supports.

never used bennet with my Klee and never will, cant stand any character who makes me sit in a circle, plus he looks lame with a boring design
bennet being less meta even if it's just a small bit is so refreshing for the game because it really allows you to try and for Hoyo to try a bunch of new team comps instead of building characters and comps around bennet. can't wait to see what future pyro supports do

I've been thinking the same for a long time now, probably since halfway through the Inazuma patches tbh, although I think it became very clear to me when dendro and teams that don't rely on multiplicative reactions to compete released. He went from a must include in every team to being either one of the options for a lot of units or just not doing anything for them for others. And I do think that's a good thing, getting units that do similar things but better for certain teams/content, having options in your drafting, not being pigeonholed to this one unit which both halves of your abyss teams need to clear.
do u think it'd be interesting to theorycraft ideal characters for some weapons?
For example how Summit Shaper would need some type of sword wielding geo xiao, or any character that needs a lot of attack but wouldn't want to rely on bennett, also maybe getting a lot of crit value from something like marechausse, ascension, passives, etc. Another example would be how White Tassel would become overpowered if we get an HP scaling normal attack polerarm user.
I just want to know what kind of characters to look out for in the future that could make some currently underwhelming weapons more viable

but i think with the release of furina bennet finally got a match for a universal support specially cuz she wants a better healer than bennet
kazuha is also universal but he generally gets paired with bennet so he kinda enhanced him not made him worse specially cuz you can keep enemies grouped in the circle
the circle and the self pyro application are his biggest weakness right now imo but he still manages to stay in the meta cuz fontaine characters have insane scaling compared to previous characters
I think we are definitely getting an atk buffer soon cause there’s alot of new weapons that have high base atk. Pyro archon will for sure be a buffer for atk and at the same time a sub dps like XL
I think it is kinda the other way around, that Bennet is so strong that all new characters have to be designed with him in mind.
I thought about building Bennet for Wanderer when I got him in 3.8 but I gave up, since I enjoy moving around with Scara.
And yeah, not needing Bennet for the abyss nowadays feels nice

@@TheGenshinScientist yep of course watched the whole vid. you say at 7:30 "bennett is becoming more niche", but most recent dpses still use him. the circle impact thing and extra dmg from reactions thing is definitely valid, but it's more of an annoyance players have to work around rather than actually affecting his strength. as for the usage rate thing, I believe usage rates atm are heavily affected by neuvillette, who doesn't use bennett. there's no coincidence that all of neuvillettes popular teammates are at the top. @jamiekb9v I asked u if you watched the video because I kind of went over all the fontaine chars that use bennett and how they can improve without bennett (for navia and wrio) in the future, thanks to more flexibility and better scaling with their signatures
Annoyance = nerf in strength to me. This is true for carries and it's true for supports. The same way we penalize characters with bad flaws (Hu Tao) and favor ones that have great playstyle advantages (Neuvillette) in terms of power level, I don't see why the same doesn't apply to Bennett. Sure, in the speedrun/tc context where you retry many times to get the best scenario/assume full buffs uptime, he's godly, but that's not super consistent to me anymore.
@@TheGenshinScientist yeah but the thing is, player have no other choice, even when you try anything else, you wont always sacrifice one of your main dps to play with another just to have less results than a bennett circle impacted team. So players will always be affected with bennett curse so long their dps are atk scalers
started getting into doing meta teams for abyss around end of 3.x and at some point in 4.x i was like "why am i even using bennett teams?"
Yep! Mine never finds his way onto any of my teams.
Enemy placements in the abyss have also been a huge nerf. Having to still use Xiao with Bennett because I lost 50/50 on Xianyun is making me LAMENT all over the place (also C5 Faruzan why couldn't I get one more ffs)

I'd argue that Dehya also has better options than Benny. People are just fixated on making her hits bigger, and with her low base numbers, she needs a lot of help for that. Even then, her mobility, her auto-movement/targeting in her burst, makes Benny bad for her. With every off-field damage option we get that does play nice with Dehya's burst, it makes less sense trying to force her into being a DPS over just letting the off-fielders do the damage themselves.
And I think another aspect worth noting is Kazuha and how he ties to Benny. Like the Navia situation. Since she's geo, she doesn't benefit as much from an anemo. That makes Circle Impact that much more limiting, since that means you have to go to enemies, rather than having the ability to bring them to you. So Benny has a lot of his value tied to Kaz for non-ranged characters. Which means Benny, like Furina, tends to need two team spots.
Ain't no way, I didn't think people actually played Navia double Electro. I mean I do, but I thought it was uncommon, to see a theorycrafter play it is based af

I've been wondering for a while if they weren't planning to powercreep him in Natlan.
He is a 4 star after all so it will be not a big deal if a limited 5 star powercreep a 4 star.
I say this because of the fact that they create enemies that make him annoying to play it can be to sales a new characters.

Another comfier Benny would be nice, I have a navia and Raiden team, so at this current moment I can’t run them together due to lack of Bennet, I just run my third team which is double hydro hutao 😅

I don't think he's going away any time soon, not until we get a better option. Furina might have taken his spot on some teams, but she can still use him very well, especially if you get her C2.
Though as far as C2 Furina goes, she tends to be powerful enough that you can easily clear the content without Benny. And since he doesn't heal the off-fielders, they're also more at risk the moment they come at one. So, at which point, why use him if you can get a more enjoyable experience with another character? Basically, some people will avoid using Benny for the same reason they use Zhongli. It's just comfier.
@@Axterix13 They wouldn't be at risk if you built him right. The majority of the community still thinks that using anything but Noblesse on him is some sort of blasphemy and builds some goofy, worthless 50/100 ratios, which result in insufficient healing and ER. That's the prime source of all the disinformation. Consider going Maiden, it will do you wonders when paired with Furina's passive.
Don’t get me wrong, i have bennet built, crown on burst, 5 star weapon on him and all but GOD i hate his circle with a passion… 🚶♀️
I’m praying the pyro archon to be a atk buffer (through the burst) for entire team while having a off-field dmg, think of her as furina but atk buff (the closest as kit), her buff is lower than bennett’s (at first glance) but since it’s for the entire team it results into much higher dpr, the skill deals high dmg again just like furina and does get affected by her atk buff.
as for bennett he’ll only be used for quick single shot scenarios or when only 1 character can use his buff in the team

Can you also make a video about Xiangling and Xingqiu? Would be interesting to see how the first 3 meta OP 4*s are doing now. Xingqiu obviously still has relevance, Xiangling has fallen off a little, but I'd like to see you go into the nitty gritty of why that is, like this video
finally, after all this time, somebody has the courage for a more realistic look at benny with increasingly more difficult opponent lineups that are not just sandbags
Bennett may be loosing his utility because of multiple factors, but I love how his c6 enables some very strong teams. I can clear floor 12 with my Xinyan on ether side, doing one and a half or two rotations per chamber, because Bennett gives pyro infusion for vape plunge, and that just makes me really happy
Benny's ult have a rather shorter CD, also like his E. So, energy management helps a lot to spam his Ult upon CD.
You said it the best. turns out become very thick skin and have the courage made video topic about HU TAO with other pyro dps make you basicaly immune from other player or content farming GI drama "creator" attacking you make you one of the reliable GI creator.
Raiden is one of the characters I don't mind playing with Bennett (at least in Rational) because you only really need the buff for the first slash, so leaving the field is not a big loss since most of the damage is coming from Xiangling and Xingqiu anyway. But I'd love to play melt Ganyu without Bennett, so my main hope is the pyro archon fitting the role.
Tbh even dehya does quite well with Chevy fischl yae teams over bennet teams (with c6 chevy)

As a Wanderer main I am indeed glued to my Bennet but thankfully only in that team and in my Lyney teams. Though I can't help but wish for a replacement for Benny because even in Wanderer teams the circle can be annoying. In all of my other teams I never have to use Bennet, thankfully.

I haven’t use Bennett much nowadays because of how he make me fck up with new enemies, considering atk scaler DPSes are very squishy in the first place.
I don't think raiden will get a realistic replacement to bennett unless it's a full national team replacement. Raiden national is so ridiculously good, and bennett reliant, that its hard to argue she can have anything better.
You're stuck in a circle, but with her burst armor amd Bennett healing, you will not die or be forced from the circle, face tanking basically everything in the game

Well yeah, staying withing the circle was always a pain while using some charcters and now with other supports coming out ofc Benny would see a decline.
i think that adding kazuha as a teammate for bennet in almost every team makes him reliable, ignoring the fact that opponents have to stay in the circle as they are locked by kazuha. Just think of Raiden-Sara-Kazuha-Bennet: works well against bosses, works well with different waves of enemies and also with enemies that are far apart. So i don't think that bennet's getting powercrept, just that the newer main dpses don't really need him (neuv and alhaitem)

tbh I haven't used Bennett in the Spiral Abyss for ~2 years now, since my main teams have been Hu Tao double hydro, Ayaka Freeze, different Hyperbloom variants, Alhaitham Quickbloom & Neuvillette hyper
bennet is a god send for c2 furina player, it synergize perfectly with attack bonus and damage bonus
A godsend only if you don't have Baizhu, Xianyun, or Jean, all of whom synergize better.
@@georgemacdonald8667c2 furina can max out fanfare with just proto amber. Bringing team healer is overkill at that point and you would rather kill enemies faster than having to worry about defence

Hmm idk im kinda new ,3.7, and bennet is still one of my most used characters. I dont have furina tho, so that may influence it. But the thing with his "circle impact"concerns i very much feel , especially when using my raiden. Overall tho i still find him more comfy than my other healers(barbara,kuki,yaoyao) and i always run some national varient team, so i dont see myself replacing him any time soon.
I'm the opposite. Started 4.1 and built Bennett quickly because everyone said he was essential (got him in my Noelle banner pulls). Mine is almost 90 now with decent artis/talents/and weapon and I never, ever find myself using him on my abyss clears or overworld teams.
@@georgemacdonald8667 oh he is by no means necessary, infact even tho im a 3.7 joiner i didnt get my first copy until 4.0 when he was a free event character. With the introduction of dendro and more damage buffing options i agree his value has decreased and will continue to do so, but i dont think he will completly disappear as many people like the dps's he works well with like childe. Its also nice he is a 4 star whic his great for f2p players like me. Also for overworld i rarely use him as well, hyperbloom is just so comfy there haha

It's not that Bennett got worse it genshin .
Bennett "becoming worse" only means he ceases to be oppressively good and becomes more in line with the rest of the good supports. And maybe people will finally stop following the "C6 Bennet bad" misinfo when he won't be seen as "be all end all" support. It's good that he's pushed into more specific role. I mean, he still hard carries entire Pyro element. No Pyro DPS except Hu Tao leaves home without him in the team. I wonder how will he work with Natlan roster, as it can very well go both ways.
I kinda need to disagree on "circle is not a problem for ranged damage dealers because they deal their damage from distance" argument though. Pretty much every ranged on-field dps who wants Bennett defaults to also using Xiangling. So you still have to remain rather close to the enemies. Xiangling-less options are usually significantly behind in damage output.
Yanfei and Yoimiya don't want Xiangling messing up the hydro aura, he clearly referred to characters like these and mentioned some of them. Monopyro is worse than vape for all of them.
I think/hope that Arlecchino will leave him at home as well.
and now i think there is a team where you can use bennet with Hutao somewhere but i forgor what is, as person that offten use Hutao man....... i love my double hydro team for Hutao more than anything other team for her.

You max bennet for healing if you don’t have c2 furina and then you run hu tao Furina Yelan and bennet. I’m hitting 150k vapes everytime.
My Bennet now don’t even got a team to play, when I AR50 I build bennet for Hu Tao (yeah I know it not best option for Hu Tao but other option is not viable at that time). Later I use with Wanderer (not anymore, cuz I don’t really have good team comp for Wanderer, not as strong as other teams)
But now I use Hu Tao with Xianyun and benched Wanderer. My Bennet don’t even have a team, kinda a waste.
I wouldn’t necessarily say he got “ worse “ but rather there are more options / teams that don’t need him.
Sumeru meta for example didn’t rly need benny nor kazuha to thrive however it shifted to nahida now in Fontaine characters like Navia and wrio enjoy benny so yeah. What ppl forget is that benny is a four star that is also on the shop plus can run on high base atk swords and pretty much simple builds and gets better with cons and gives you a huge atk buff plus his pyro circle allows for some stuff with kauzha etc.
benny definitely got a break but i don’t think he’s a bad unit.
Even if teams specialize more and Bennett is replaced by comfier or stronger supports, he has value and easy of access going for him.
Even if he is not the best option in every time, he still works well in 50% of teams in the game, groups together healing and buffing and is accessible through the shop. Building him is a no-brainer option because he works everywhere. Especially with abyss often invalidating some teams with elemental checks, building specialized supports isn't as valuable as building a flexible and accessible unit.
How strong Xiangling is and in how many teams she is needed also makes him almost necessary in all those teams.
I think he is still absolutely a main-stay until they dare to come close to powercreeping him.
I think eventually devs will release 740ATK 5* sword (like "Crane's Echoing Call" catalyst and "Calamity Queller" spear) and our Bennet will shine even brighter.
I find it quite funny that non-atk scalers are becoming the norm lately and their skills generally cannot be snapshotted. This is all because of how strong Bennett is probably. If they release an atk scaler then, Bennett is always one of their best teammates.
And even then, Furina's become much more of a better support than Bennett in ANY team that needs hydro. Furina + Teamwide Healer + Any goddamn hypercarry = Big numbers that are probably much more compared to what Bennett gives.

This was bound to happen eventually considering how he’s been carrying so many teams on his back for over 3 years. It’s about damn time the boy got his rest. This is also pretty much proves how broken he was that they needed to make characters that literally won’t synergize with his kit. Weird form of balancing but if it works, then it works.

1. You left out Ayato
2. You didn't include Yunjin who is often an alternative to Bennett for Yoimiya and Ayato (and Wanderer to a much lesser extent)
YunJin is a horrible, horrible, terrible unit for Ayato. Anyone who thinks they’re actually a decent pairing is straight up wrong. Stop pairing them together for the love of god.

I agree that her C6 is a lot to ask, but even at C0 her being horrible seems a bit like an overstatement
@@mishkaxp8Not with Yoimiya though. Yoimiya still benefits from the normal atk buff and her cons also help with that. She’s not terrible and actually close/similar in terms of value for Yoimiya. Though I do have to agree that Yun Jin relatively bad for Ayato realistically.
@@mishkaxp8 yun jin overall kinda meh for ayato especially if you bring xiangling and kazuha along, benny is the clear cut choice here. But her buff for yoimiya is quite good, its actually competitive with benny. She has the advantage of having the buff rely on her total stat from artifacts, different from benny who depends on what weapon you have on him. Being freed from circle impact is also a huge w, + the c6 might give yoimiya an extra hit or two which is overall more damage. And unlike ayato, yoimiya is mostly a boss killer so she has no problem with the 30 trigger quota, yoimiya usually have like around 22 hits per skill (including yunjin c6 effect). Shes definitely a good alternative for yoimiya especially if you have john lee and want benny on the other team
I would be glad if that was the case. I like to play characters that I like from their story / personality. And I don't really like Bennett. So every time when there's a new cool character I wanna play, and I look for possible team combinations that could be fun - I always see Bennett. And it's annoying. I get it that characters that buff your team are always going to be useful but seeing it is just one and the only character over and over again kind of makes one dislike that character even more.
It's interesting hearing in the video again that Bennett should be the best team member for Navia, because she is now my favorite character and I always play her. She made me go from World Level 5 to 8 (after holding back for 2 years) and I finally attempt Floor 12 in the Abyss again, knowing that I have at least one good character with her, that meets the required stats no matter what. And I'm super happy with the team Navia, Zhongli, Barbara, Yelan that I figured out for her. No Bennett needed, energy regeneration is great, damage output is great too. If there's enemies with lots of freeze, which will get annoying, I technically have the option to switch to 2 cryo or 2 electro characters, which feels a little less fun to play, but still works out.
He has no direct competitor yet. No universal attack buffer.And for those of us who have older units he's still gonna be there as you stated.
My best pyro dps team Furina Xianyun Bennet + 4th slot(Xiangling/Diluc/Hutao/Yanfei/Klee/Gaming). Waiting for another pyro buffer (maybe pyro archon) to replace the 4th slot.😊
Tbf, benneth reach all type of team. He has the famous national team and its dozens variant, he has burgeon team when use with razor, he's a strong option still in most of hyper carry team (hyper hayato, hyper raiden, most of geo team, " mono " team, overlead, etc).

If a character snapshots and scales off of Atk, then Bennett is still the way to go.
Hot take: I hope the Pyro Archon is gonna be a fusion of Bennett and Dehya where the Pyro Archon is a support tank with E skill like Zhongli and Q skill that has general buff like Furina.

The only way to powercreep both Xiangling and Bennett is if Pyro Archon will combine both of properties: Off-field DMG with shapshot & no ICD, huge ATK buff without any circles to entire team and finally... Massive AoE healing, which won't rely on burst, but on skill cast instead. Which will have a Marvellous synergy with Furina.
Just imagine the 4 Female Archons HyperBurgeon team...
Not quite the only way to powercreep both. Another way would be to have two new characters that each powercreep either XL or Bennie... ;-) (and I don't offer this correction just to be a punk--I think we'll actually see it in Natlan).
Bro I need one more off field Pyro... Bennett benched? Sure maybe I'm xiao main with FFXX team..but xiangling will stay for a long time even with second off field Pyro ... They have to make TWO more off field Pyro to make xiangling irrelevant actually

There are of course circle impact players: I play Sucrose National and Bennett/Xiangling/Ayato if the Abyss favours pyro damage, so you can say I tolerate it.
There are also enough waifu Rosaria mains who also have circle impact.
I like learning enemy movement patterns because it’s satisfying to bait enemies into a trap or do a perfect dodge.
I think of Circle Impact like using a limited mine or grenade - you don’t use those without first thinking what the chances are the enemy is going to be in the blast.

Same, I been using bennet in abyss 12 and most enemies just aggro me or stare at me. I think people are traumatized by wenut still lol.
i rarely use Bennet. I have actively been building teams to avoid using him since 1.0... I have him completely built but i avoid using him in almost all situations. i'll substitute TTDS unit / buffer etc if at all possible.
This is a very good thing, they're finally balancing the 1.0 cast out through more units and more enemies. Let's hope Xiangling is next on their chopping block.
