A favorite dessert of ours are these delicious pizzelle cookies. They are wonderful by themselves or used as a vehicle for your favorite sweet spread, ice cream, or jam. Simple to make and easily made for several people.

My favorite pizzelle to make is lemon and poppy seed ones. Then I like to dip the edges in melted chocolate and sprinkle with nonpareils...yummm!

I have bee making Pizzelle`s for yrs. We make them with anise in them. The second way you said the name is the right way to say it.I only make them now for the holidays cause we cant stop eating them. their so darn good.

I've only had these cookies maybe half a dozen over a life time, and have only had the Anis (sp?) version. I too, would most likely prefer the vanilla...because I always choose vanilla over anything and everything else!
I'm tempted to get one of those machines now. Especially now that I know you can make cannoli shells and ice cream cones as well
