I can confirm that overriding the Microsoft Account option, Local Account Creation, Regional Settings, Telemetry option and Disable Bitlocker all works.
@@TELEVISIONARCHIVES The shutdown of Windows 10 is going to be Microsoft's biggest payday ever in terms of how much money they are going to make selling new hardware and product keys because of how many perfectly good devices will not "run" windows 11 according to the arbitrary requirements set by Microsoft themselves. I echoe that. This option in Rufus has actually always worked for me. Helps alot in saving time setting up a customer's pc. I usually check all the offered options and they work like a charm.
Rich, even though several videos recently came out about "installing 24H2 on unsupported HW", I use YOUR videos as the reference - they are clear, concise, and entertaining. I'm quite a fan of your "Potato" e-waste machine! Yet again, Rufus proves its value as a fantastic FOSS utility! About the Core2Duo thing... I have several e-waste Core2Duo machines (Dell Optiplex 760, E8400) around here. They were built like a tank! Been running Linux on them for years, but alas effective with Enterprise Linux 9 (RHEL, Alma, Oracle, Rocky) the CPU must be x86-64-v2 which is Nehalem or newer. Soon, those Core2Duo machines will join my Celeron 300, Athlon, and others collecting dust in my garage.
Yes, Core2Duo gets along ok with Ubuntu 22.04. Although my E8400 is a bit slow with that edition. It was faster under 18.04 and earlier. I've yet to try the Q9650 upgrade, but without x86-64-v2 compatibility, that may be another dead end.
Actually there's a hidden key that can make a boot Windows 11 for either "BIOS or UEFI" by simply press Alt + E to change that target system. With this hidden functions applied, Windows 11 installation would able to boot BIOS or UEFI in this same USB drive. Hope you will get this helps.
I'm actually using a PC I built in that exact case to watch this video. I bought it in 2006 at CompUSA when it was still a thing. Thanks for the update!
Hello Rich - I don't usually comment on help vids etc., BUT yours is so concise and nippy! I have a creaking Thinkpad X230 with not much on it so not much to loose. I went with your exact guidance to plant Win 11 over my Win 10 i5 3rd Gen. The bios claimed it could boot in to UEFI but Rufus opted to install using MBR - whatever, works beautifully. Many thanks.
Hi Rich , I was about to use your install method from the previous video, but will now use the latest method. All your good work will save scrapping lots of old hardware, be sure I'll be telling my friends about this.

Have to say between you, Rufus and Open Core you are keeping tons a computers out of the trash. I am in the process o f upgrading a 2015 MBP to MacOS Sonoma - completed - and Boot camp Windows 1124h2 its all ready running an older version of 11.
Worked great on a Toshiba Satellite C75D-B7260. Took about 6 hours after putting the ISO onto a thumb drive and running setup from the drive. Thanks for the video!
I installed Windows 11 on a old laptop with 4 cores. Rufus is amazing! All the options Rufus offered on the drop down menu worked flawlessly! Thank you for this video! 👍
Secure Boot is an option with UEFI, so you CAN still install your OS in UEFI mode, without secure boot enabled as I do this all the time. Keeping it active MAY activate Bitlocker during install and encrypt your boot drive, which can hammer overall performance... though that's largely dependent if TPM is enabled which i keep off also. You can still use BitLocker on other drives, or external drives, with out issues with these motherboard features turned off or missing.
Many thanks for this. Used the previous method for all but one of my systems… last one wouldn’t work (until I rechecked which language I originally installed) all done now!
OK, I guess I can stop upgrading my core 2 duo now.. I'll be happy with 23H2 for now, since I don't want Recall anyway, and having a laptop with integrated graphics I won't score on game play features all the same.. I can honestly say I've had a great experience on Windows 11 and that's from skipping from Win7 straight to 11. SO, I'll enjoy 23H2 until it's end on this laptop.
One has to be very careful when doing this on "unsupported" hardware as I found out. I updated three desktops from Win10 to 24H2 and 2 work well, ONE does not. It slowed the PC down to the point it was unusable. There's anecdotal evidence out there that Microsoft has slowed the distribution of 24H2 as an upgrade due to "issues" to give themselves time to fix it. If you do this upgrade make sure you make an image of your drive first so you can revert back if necessary. Fortunately for me I did that and it saved my bacon!
It worked perfectly on my HP g6 laptop thank you very much. Screwed up wi-fi network adapter but luckily I have a USB one and was able to work around deleting the realtek driver and using the Microsoft one. Working on original i5 hardware now. Very happy 👍
Awesome video I just found your channel. I'm running Win11Pro 22H2 and I wondered why I don't get any major updates anymore. I will test it in the morning
Thanks for clearing up my confusion with the Core 2 Duo processor. I guess I had better start worrying about my Intel Core i7 X 980 that's still going strong. Thanks again.
Worked great. Just yesterday tried to upgrade an i3 powered laptop to 24H2 would not work. Unsupported CPU. Used Rufus 4.5 to make the USB media. Redid today with Rufus 4.6 and it is installing. I can also confirm that 24H2 using Rufus 4.5 installed on a Celeron J4105 system works.
That's strange! I followed the last video and managed to install Windows 11 24H2 on a really unsupported laptop of mine. It worked perfectly. Maybe Microsoft changed something since then? By the way, I used Rufus 4.5. I love your content-keep up the great work!
The Rufus option to remove requirement for Microsoft account had still worked great for me the last time Microsoft messed with the ability to use the OOBE command on an internet connected pc. Sometime right before you made your last update video on bypassing it. Haven't tried it since then.
This is vert important 😊 If raid is enabled in bios even if you only have 1 SSD on an i7 X58 board the method does not work at all.... Only when I disabled Raid and set to AHCI or IDE windows 11 upgrades flawlessly
Everything worked for me when installing from USB boot, but the internet requirement/local account didn't work without extra steps when installing from Windows. If you are getting the same network requirements to install, - hit SHIFT-F10 to enter command prompt, - type OOBE\BYPASSNRO - PC will reset and it will then display an option to skip network connection. After that, it will then let you create your local account. Also: +1 on the epic beard! You should do a video of you trimming that 🤣🤣 Mine is about the same length, just an absolute mess.
The method from last video worked for me! Only hiccup I had is my first attempt failed because windows 1607 was trying to run an update at the same time I ran the iso setupprep exe
I prefer to get the Windows ISO file from the Media Creation Tool since it includes all languages, regions, and iterations from Windows Core, to Enterprise and everything in between, and you can choose all of those things during install. The ISO file isn't that much larger (if at all), but modifying/debloating it tends to make it larger for some reason, but any 8GB USB stick will still work.

Hi, Thank You for this video, i followed the video and it all worked perfectly with my AMD processor even though it said my machine was not compatable with windoes 11.
I agree these requirements are stupid and I am curious what they will do in 2025 when the majority are still running Windows 10. My system doesn't have a TPM and I have an i7-3930K CPU which still performs well on modern games. Surprisingly my Alienware Aurora R4 still does a good job in that aspect with a GTX-1080. My system is from 2012 and would run circles around that OS. I have a modern potato ASUS laptop that is supported with a Pentium in it and barely runs UA-cam. That potato struggles and yet it's supported and my older system is by far more powerful and not supported. Thinking about that makes these requirements sound even more stupid. Dropping windows security support in 2025 leaves a ton of PC's vulnerable to security issues. Being able to install Windows 11 to get security updates is better than no updates. Sure the TPM 2.0 helps but dropping all security updates is madness. Better to have something than nothing at all.
Just give you an update as well there is a way to turn off recall because I don't trust my computer recording anything that I do Check If Recall Is ON or OFF Open up the Terminal (as Admin) and type in this command Dism /Online /Get-Featureinfo /Featurename:Recall Depending on your preference these commands can either ENABLE or DISABLE the software. Disable RECALL: Dism /Online /Disable-Feature /Featurename:Recall Enable RECALL: Dism /Online /Enable-Feature /Featurename:Recal
I believe Recall is disabled automatically if you install Windows using a local account. It's only users who login with an online account who have to disable Recall.

On a VM I install Windows 11 three different ways. First was the normal method that Microsoft wants you to do which took the longest and you had to babysit it for more than I wanted. Then I tried Rufus (v4.5) and it worked but there was a lot bloat software left behind but didn't take too long to install. I then used Chris Titus' de-bloat script that can also rebuild a window ISO called MicroWin (You can use Rufus to put it on a USB, or Ventoy) and it strips out a lot of apps in Windows that people never use, while also streamlining the install in about 5 minutes, and it also allows you to install it on unsupported hardware.
That's correct. However, I would just use the server installer method in that case. It doesn't require any third party software at all. You can use the factory Windows 11 ISO.
You mentioned selecting Yes to check for updates, otherwise some functionality is missing. One useful function is the ability of Rufus to download the ISO.
I will probably use this Rufus technique for my older Dell laptop with 7th gen Intel i7 (fails Win 11 test - but circa 2017 vintage, so should have SE 4.2)
Any luck? I have an ASUS ROG GV7 (2017) with the same processor. I dug a little bit and found out that processor hates 11 and will not work at all, but.... does it?
When the battery died in your mike it sounded like you needed to take a bathroom break whilst you waited for the lengthy install to complete ! Some people do say that Windows 11 is a crapfest 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for the video Rich. To run Windows 11 on unsupported works now. But how about in a year when support to Windows 10 is running out? I could maybe think this date will be the time when Microsoft is closing all ways to run Windows 11 on unsupported hardware.
Wow, what a long and elaborate way to tell that Rufus has been updated for 24H2! That being said, I thouroughly enjoyed these 22 minutes of agitated charisma 😅
What i did to update my windows 11 on unsupported hardware is setup.exe /product server and choose not to update the installer and you can do a inplace update with all of your currect settings and applications. did this in 2 pc's , works also from windows 10 to windows 11
Windows 11, version 24H2 has some new system requirements, including: CPU: Requires an x86-64-v2 CPU that supports SSE4.2 and POPCNT CPU instructions. This means that the OS won't boot on systems that don't have this instruction set.
Thanks for a great channel! I have two desktop PCs which are super old: 16+ years. I just recently added SSD and more RAM to less dated one and W11 23H2 ran just fine and snappy on it. So obviously it was a huge dissapointment to find out that 24H2 doesn't work on it anymore. Now, putting the obvious case of buying a new PC aside, my question is: Should I return to W10 or stick with W11 23H2?

My system is from 2012 and would run circles around that OS. I have a modern potato ASUS laptop that is supported with a Pentium in it and barely runs UA-cam. That potato struggles and yet it's supported and my older system is by far more powerful and not supported. Thinking about that makes these requirements sound even more stupid.
Dropping windows security support in 2025 leaves a ton of PC's vulnerable to security issues. Being able to install Windows 11 to get security updates is better than no updates. Sure the TPM 2.0 helps but dropping all security updates is madness. Better to have something than nothing at all.
Just give you an update as well there is a way to turn off recall because I don't trust my computer recording anything that I do Check If Recall Is ON or OFF
Open up the Terminal (as Admin) and type in this command
Dism /Online /Get-Featureinfo /Featurename:Recall
Depending on your preference these commands can either ENABLE or DISABLE the software.
Disable RECALL: Dism /Online /Disable-Feature /Featurename:Recall
Enable RECALL: Dism /Online /Enable-Feature /Featurename:Recal
I believe Recall is disabled automatically if you install Windows using a local account. It's only users who login with an online account who have to disable Recall.

11:15 it does. The "I don't have Internet" option appears.
Haha, took me a second to know what you meant by that Ath *A* lon 64. You pronounce it weird Rich (I leave that middle A out when I say it)!
If you are just doing an upgrade from the USB you can just use GPT on a system that does not support UFEI.
That's correct. However, I would just use the server installer method in that case. It doesn't require any third party software at all. You can use the factory Windows 11 ISO.
Helo good
Not sure if mentioned in an another video, but what about UPDATES ? Will they continue working automatically in the windows 11 unsupported system ?
After following your instructions and installing Windows 11 on my PC, will future Windows 11 updates load on their own?
Superb!
Love your vids 5:16
Unsupported hardware + a buggy 24H2 upgrade = what could go wrong?
No surprise Rufus has gotten smarter...M$ has gotten dumber!!! 😂
Windows 11, version 24H2 has some new system requirements, including:
CPU: Requires an x86-64-v2 CPU that supports SSE4.2 and POPCNT CPU instructions. This means that the OS won't boot on systems that don't have this instruction set.
What about a Athlon 5350
Thanks for a great channel! I have two desktop PCs which are super old: 16+ years. I just recently added SSD and more RAM to less dated one and W11 23H2 ran just fine and snappy on it. So obviously it was a huge dissapointment to find out that 24H2 doesn't work on it anymore.
Now, putting the obvious case of buying a new PC aside, my question is: Should I return to W10 or stick with W11 23H2?
What about if you have Windows 11 23H2 on unsupported hardware, and want to UPGRADE to 24H2 while keeping all of your settings and data?
Thank you 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you very much.
