This performance is from Penn & Teller: Fool Us - Season 9, episode 6: “Magic Socks Big Time”
Gabriella is only eighteen, but has already been performing on stages all across the continent. In the past few years, she has entertained hundreds of audiences and companies; including venues such as the world-famous "Magic Castle" in Hollywood and the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas.

I'm blown away by the stage presence, the originality on an old theme, the crispness of the banter and it's content, as well as the surprise ending. I can't imagine her not being successful at anything she does. If she chooses to stay on this path, look out magic world.

This wasn't just magician's banter, but a delivery that was lovingly bespoke-crafted around your (possibly also our) fanhood of Penn and Teller. Please PLEASE be careful.... There is a reason why .. that your quote was what it was ... Be safe.... Houdini died young, but not from failing to escape, but... So so many aren't remembered because they were not Houdini. You could be not the next Houdini, but your name... But... Ugh.. I'm torn because I know the dangers inherit in this style.. however, Great act. Such a unique thing... Please, just.... Be safe that's all I can say.❤

Just the escape alone is scary and impressive to me, but the showmanship -- you were holding both Penn and Teller in the palm of your hand the whole time, even with your hands tied. Wonderful performance.

I honestly do not care about the secret of the trick because of how good the performance was. I could not look away. It was engaging, the banter between you and Penn and Teller. Fabulous work. I noticed the trick, too. But the stage presence and banter was great for an 18 year old. Honestly, she's got a massive career ahead of her if she just keeps growing and learning at the pace that she's already doing. Keep pushing yourself, kid! You're making your parents proud!

As a fellow Vancouver magician, this was the first time I've ever seen Gabriella perform & I must say that I was highly impressed. Everything from her confident stage presence, to the way she had 2 or 3 different themes weaved through this performance (ie: flirting with Teller, Penn with the flash cards, as well as, the escape itself). Wonderful job & I look forward to future presentations.
First time seeing her and WOW. So, first off, she's amazingly well spoken. She controls everything off the bat and keeps that control of her act and pretty much the entire show. She keeps this beat and rhythm and keeps everyone's attention. So much charm and confidence. Good sense of humor and keeps full control the entire time. The journey is the spotlight here. This is great entertainment and I want more of it. Well done.

This wasn't about fooling them this was about entertaining your idols at 18 years old. My God, I couldn't be more jealous to have the charisma and opportunities to pull that off and so young too! But don't let this be the peak! You still have at least 4x18 years left to live! 😉😂😂
The key to success is always coming up with another goal, another hill to climb, this time you got to meet and make them laugh but NEXT TIME, you have to ACTUALLY fool them 😉👌

Gabriella, I completed three calc courses recently and many of us in my classes joked about how difficult arithmetic was. I was sweating for Penn, that was hilarious. Penn & Teller must have felt so honored with this loving tribute you made to their version of a simular escape. I love the twist at the end. What an original combination of magic tricks. Very brave to invite them onto stage with you, and your stage presence is fantastic. Great humor, great presentation and pacing too. Although I did notice the slight of hug, I don't know how you escaped from the jacket. And that is what I love about stage magic: knowing you are about to be fooled, and trying to figure out how it was done. It is one of the most honest and intellectual forms of art.

I love escape acts. And you're absolutely right when you said you wanted to do something not everyone can do. There are self-working card tricks, but I don't know of any self removing straight jackets lol. You were awesome, plus you got Penn all flustered with math equations and that's always a win.
A wondeful example how an old trick can be still very entertaining today, when it is presented in the right way.

I began studying and performing magic and illusions when I was around 13/14, and for a number of years performed with friends that were magicians, and did 3 years of street performing at the same time. I have a lot of friends that are still performing magicians, but I ended up getting more into developing tricks, designing and building props as a passtime. I've even worked for Penn & Teller many years ago in Vancouver at the Vogue Theatre and they were both incredible to work for. Unfortunately it wasn't for a long run, but it was truly enjoyable and I learned a lot from them both, especially Teller.
You seem to have a very natural personality for performing. And even more important you have a definite ability to work all of the aspects of a performance into one very finely tuned and eloquent performance. Pretty F'n Impressive seeing how you only started magic and illusions, what, 2 or 3 years ago, and you auditioned for Penn & Teller Fool US and got in. I know guys that have been performing for 20 years that haven't gotten accepted for the show. That should tell you how incredible your performance was. Stick with it. Keep Yourself Humble no matter what success you have. Always perform from your heart and do the illusions that really turn you on intellectually as a performer, but perform them simply, as you did in this performance. Those are the keys of magic I learned are the most effective. When things start getting highly technical and you need an entourage of technicians performing your show with you behind the scenes as its happening, then it's no longer Your Magic that's being performed.
You definitely have the skills. Keep developing them, but Dammnit if you aren't incredible with the skills already! Stay Humble, Don't let the comments go to your head or your show and performance suffers.

Okay, I’m just all around impressed. The trick, the stage presence, the banter and jokes, the fact that this whole thing was a tribute to Houdini and Penn and Teller. You owned the stage.

I've gone back time and again looking for that "sleight of hug" and can't find a thing. Not even the slightest hint! I love being fooled which is why I'm here.
Think Penn was alluding to her getting out of her jacket and into the straightjacket without showing the front of her shirt, which she covered with the hug.
(Another lovely wrinkle is that it was *Teller* holding the straightjacket, and he's short enough he wouldn't see over it to the writing on the shirt, where Penn could have because he's so tall.)

Look carefully at the front of her shirt, during the early parts of the act. You will see down the middle is a sideways '8', a '+' and a '7'. Teller was letter her know, that he knew the hug transferred that red cloth to the inside of the straight jacket, during the hug (with Velcro, one might assume).
