      1/10.. anyone with 2 brain cells would’ve understood that code. An actual code would’ve been not using any words that exactly match. This is why it takes them a second sometimes to catch on… like for instance they’d never say “magnetic” they say “this trick is going to stick with us for a long time unless we pull the memory out of our heads really hard.” He’d say it better but that’s the general way he does it. It’s only enough words so that when they think of the similarities they can go “ahhhh okay yeah he knows I used magnets”..

      "you were not lying about a mug swap" Even if he wanted to lie about there being a swap or not, he can't. Part of the process of the show is explaining how it is done to a magic consultant that is part of the Fool Us crew and they listen to Penn and Teller's deliberations and it is their ruling that determines if it's a fool or not. So even if he lied, the consultant would overrule the fool.

    Such a lovely act. There is a lot of beauty in the methods of so many tricks and I always appreciate a trick that lets the audience in on some methodology. I also appreciate a bit of an homage to one of the rope acts P&T have done.
    The final effect is super well done and extremely clean. I don't think there is enough to glean the method, from the footage alone. There are some potential leads, but nothing concrete. Really lovely effect and execution. I look forward to figuring out the method at some point.

      @TheGoatFish And actually at 5:18 you can see the real handle under his thumb right before the camera cuts to a different angle. (Probably cut because they realized it happened to be the perfect angle to see the handle through the small gap between his hand and the mug).
      Not to take anything from the trick, this was amazing. I especially love the clues he sprinkled in the routine. It was a risky move but made it that much more memorable when it succeeded.

    My guess is at 5:10 he rotates the cup to hide the real handle and attaches a breakaway handle that was concealed in the cloth. When he lowers the cup, he does it by the lip of the cup, not the handle so it doesn't break away early.

    • @AvianArmada
      @AvianArmada 3 місяці тому +1

      When he drops the mug at 5:52 the handle is facing downwards.

    • @zepman9200
      @zepman9200 3 місяці тому +1

      That is exactly what I believe he did as well. Magnetic handle perhaps, but you can clearly see him rotate the mug before he puts the rope through the handle he added.

    • @fuhkerz
      @fuhkerz 3 місяці тому

      You can actually see the real handle at 5:18 just before the camera cuts to another angle. His thumb is resting on the real handle and the small gap between his hand and the mug exposes it.
      Something you'd likely never notice in person unless you happened to be at the perfect angle like the camera was.

Overall when it comes to magic I don't necessarily want to know how it's done but sometimes it's even more impressing when you understand how clever it was to come up with the idea or how much work and practice it takes to pull it off.

    I only watched it once and i am surprised you fooled them. As soon as you grabbed the cloth to block the view i was suspicious as to what else may be in it. But the way you palmed the handle made it even more clear to me. You definitely have a magnetic personality and you have a handle on things. I would guess the hardest part is to prevent noise of metal on magnet. Did you use something to soften the sound? Or was it just fine motor skills at work? Good performance none the less.
