    Lyrics:
I took my love and I took it down
I climbed a mountain and I turned around
And I saw my reflection in the snow-covered hills
Well, the landslide brought me down
Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
Can I sail through the changing ocean tides?
Can I handle the seasons of my life?

I remember when I was about 8 years old my mom and I sat in front of an old building in the next town over and we just talked. During that time we lived in a very bad domestic violence situation and we just went on a drive to get away. I was scared and she was emotionally lost and broken. This song came on and she got really excited and asked me to sing it with her. At first I didn't but I did afterwards. She loved Fleetwood Mac and that was her favorite song, but she really loved this version. For me, this version of this song brings back that memory of temporary peace in the bad storm we lived in. When my mom was herself and I had her by my side. Sadly, about 3 years ago at the age of 49 she took her own life and left me here missing her. I always come back to this song to sing it and just relive that memory, when I still had her as herself and it brings my heart some bitter sweet peace.

You can't deny that Stevie Nick's version is a lot more affecting ... its quieter and airy. But this Dixie Chick version chose to have banjo, and a cheerful beat for such a quiet self reflection lyrics, its oddly incompatible don't you think ? What kind of nonsense is this ?

My nana and papa were married for 54 years. He died 5 years ago. It broke her bad. He's all she talked about for years. I remember playing this song when my mom passed away In March of 2017. Every time i have heard it since then i always look up into the night sky and see the moon, i think of our few times we were together, mother and son. Still makes me cry when i think of those times we held hands together, during those unspoken moments. My mom was the pillar of our family and she always was a strong woman of spirit. This past April (2021) my father passed away, 4 years and a month after mom had passed. My dad missed her dearly and in the end, he welcomed his own passing only because he would be joining her in heaven. Now they are together at last and when i listen to this song again, tears well up in my eyes. I miss them but i am happy they are reunited. Thank you Chicks. Love you all.

The Dixie Chicks cover version actually made the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 (#7) back in 2003 and finished as one of the top 40 songs of the entire year that year, so it is a known song just maybe more associated with the original artiste, Fleetwood Mac. But Dixies killed it and it was a DEFINITE HIT for them as well.

I listened and knew this song resembles life in its passage of time. The beauty and sorrow of life coming to an end brought me to tears. Death is beautiful sorrow, we are saying goodbye to all we ever knew and stepping into the unknown while remembering the sweet moments of life we had.

    Uh-huh...
Well, I've been afraid of changing 'cause I built my life around you
    But time makes you bolder
    Children get older
    I'm getting older, too
    Well...
Well, I've been afraid of changing 'cause I built my life around you
    But time makes you bolder
    Children get older
    I'm getting older, too
    Well I'm getting older, too
So, take this love and take it down
Yeah, and if you climb a mountain and you turn around
And if you see my reflection in the snow-covered hills
Well, the landslide brought me down
And if you see my reflection in the snow-covered hills
    Well, maybe
    Well, maybe
Well, maybe the landslide will bring you down
