@steph6453 Steph, listen to me. I turned 21 during the Clinton presidency. Let me be clear on this. Trump has done almost the exact same things that the Criminal Clintons were accused of. Not only that, no one talks about this, but the Clintons were honored guests at Ivanka's wedding. The belief that people are trying to get Trump because he's not a member of the political establishment is not based in reality. I will not vote for a Clinton or a Trump, because it is a bad idea to allow immoral people to attain high office.
This song takes on a whole new meaning for me as a domestic abuse survivor who spoke out against my abuser and was told again and again that I was going about it all "wrong." For calling him exactly what he is - a spineless, soulless little bitch. For not being the perfect victim who wishes my abuser well - in fact, I hope and pray he endures the same hell he has put me through. I don't apologize for it. To hell with politeness. That's why I love this song.
well actually they do, the Dixie Chicks expressed an opinion, most listeners of country decided they didn't like that opinion, they got boycotted for a while. i don't like that death threats were made, that's too much. Freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from consequences.
@@Wheniawoke1 Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences like TheMudyOne said. You lie about things that can be dangerous to others, then you should reap consequences. Trump needs to reap consequences for what he's done in many different circumstances. He's angry, bitter, selfish, and self-centered. Those qualities are dangerous for a presidency.
The Chicks are still here, and I'm always gonna support them. The biggest advocates against "Cancel culture" today are the same ones that sought to cancel these ladies. I remember everything and every country singer that spoke out against them.
“Cancel culture” is just people yelling at you on Twitter until the next scandal grabs their attention. These women got all their music banned from radio stations. Record stores in certain States wouldn’t carry their albums. They couldn’t even book stages in red states because the venue didn’t want the security liability. That isn’t cancellation, that’s censorship. Trending on Twitter is a walk in the park.
I served in the USAF when the war they were not happy about and spoke against. I fought for these ladies to speak their mind. I would still fight for their right to be unhappy about it. And to say what they think. I love this song. I love these women. I’ve been out of the service for 17 years…. If I still had my uniform I would show up in it and sing at the top of my lungs. These women are amazing!!!!
Thank you for your service and what you stand for. I have a question if you are willing to answer it. My Ex boyfriend served as a Corpsman way back in the era of Reagan. As far as he was concerned Reagan walked on water. We got into a few arguments about the current President at the time which was Trump. I'm registered as an Independent because I find myself agreeing with issues on the left and right and, I don't vote for someone just because they are a Republican or a Democrat. I vote for whoever I think will do the best job. At the time I was not impressed at all by the actions of President Trump. My Ex defended anything and everything he did, much like his supporters still do today. He said that being ex military he still was taught to always support the President no matter what because he is the Commander in Chief" I say that's bullshit. I say that because this code of his seems to only apply to Republican Presidents. He constantly talked about how Obama ruined this country. And how bad Clinton was.. I could be wrong because I wasn't ever in the military. I understand how the President while you are active military, is basically your "boss" and you need to treat him as such. But he had served 7 years and been out 30. I think he used that as an excuse when I would question something Trump had just done that was clearly not representing our country in a good way and he couldn't come up with a defense. So do you fully support everything a current President says and does? And if it's true then why did he always talk about President Biden in a negative manner?
@@cheryllegerton6725 I didn’t always agree with everything that the president did while I served but I did follow orders. I do not want to comment or make guesses at his thoughts. But as active duty or ex military. You still get to vote. I don’t think either party has it fully figured out. I’d just go for the lesser of two evils

I’m watching in 2024 because I had not heard of it till now. That’s because I don’t care for the chicks and another song informed me of this song. It’s a free country. They have their freedom of speech and their own opinions as do I. I couldn’t stomach watching the whole video and stopped it. What are those chicks up to today? Not much I guess.

That's actually leftism. They try and ban everything or say everything is racist or xenophobic 😂 generally us conservatives have done it twice that I know of. With them and bud light😂😂 as for the Dixiechicks and you, you might be ok with 9,000 Americans murdered but US REAL AMERICANS will never be ok with it.
It’s 2023 & I just discovered this song yesterday. Made me cry. Did research & listen to it so many times I know it word by word. I am a fan through & through now. Three powerfully talented women putting a message out. I love it
I get chills every time. Amazing song by three rightfully pissed off ladies telling people they aren’t going to offer empty platitudes or pretend to be robots whose only purpose is to entertain. I have so much respect for their tenacity and strength.
they definitely got a lot of shit for a) being a country music act, while b) starting to talk shit about bush before it was a cool thing to do. up to then, everybody had been pretty pleasant about bush. so in that way, she is a trendsetter, and ahead of her time by saying what a horrible idea the iraq war was. however i sense that natalie wanted to do some shit talking, as she also attacked a toby keith song. i get that she had something to say and has the right to do so, but she also picked a terrible time to do it. and exposed herself for being a trash talker, and that's not accepted by country fans. it's also like she said one bad thing, and did the worst thing possible by saying more to, i guess, lean into it. she is right about 'courtesy of the red, white, and blue' being a cheap/uncreative song though. that song, and songs like it, haven't age well at all.
The fact that this song's parent album took home the biggest Grammys that it was nominated for with no support from radio or country music as a whole is such a middle finger that I can't fathom.
Every entertainer who competed against them in that Grammy giveaway to the DC's outsold them that year and (except for one woman who retired over the grief of losing her husband) went on to outsell them every year since. To put that Grammy giveaway into perspective, do you know who Leontyne Price is? How about Alison Krauss? Look it up. And they did it without controversy.
@@galenwarren3579 Winners are presented with a Grammy Award; those who do not win receive a medal for their nomination. I didn't fully understand then. I left the bubble I grew up in. I went to learn about the world, educate myself on the lives that look far different from mine. It's been the best decision I've ever made. It's now 2024, I just turned 36. I grew up on The Chicks, played my fiddle till my fingers bled, and in adulthood took a sharp left turn. We're not backing down. 💙💙💙 Change is coming, in the best way, I feel it and I feel something I haven't in years: hope.
So sad that The Dixie Chicks got canceled for speeking against a tyrant dictator. Freedom of speech is almost dead. Never speak against the traitors the "rulers " that govern us.
This song so resonated with me when it came out . paying that price I didn't back down I'm still paying in . as of now I've figured it our alright .However I'm still waiting! Patients is a virtue . Also you got that Right !! At a soul level . l swear I have no more doubt , but some new things to figure out . this world is full of caiouse
I served my country and will always serve when called. Throughout my entire career I always stood up for what was right. Never be afraid to speak out. That's how I was raised and how I raised my children. Great Song.
+Katie Hill No she didn't. People threw a fit and acted completely ridiculous and literally psycho crazy over her statement. People act like because you are American means you automatically have to be pro war and pro this etc.
+BellaLove YEP! Your supposed to be sheep & support the war no questions asked. I use the term sheep cause no one can think outside the box anymore. Your supposed to just go with whatever society says & not argue. I wasnt a fan but actually her personality was what I like in a woman.
+H.G. C. Listen here. I'm a conservative. I am not a Republican, however. I hate the two party system simply because it creates fine lines between beliefs. Although I'm right wing, I think we NEED people who disagree with myself and others like me. Imagine how boring this world would be if we all thought alike!
The world was "woke" before you showed up. The DC's dug a hole with their mouths and continued digging. Lots of people fell into that hole by believing what the DC"s said about themselves. Very appropriate that their last album was called Gaslighting. They've been doing that to people like you for years.
“It’s a sad sad story when a mother will teach her daughter that she oughtta hate a perfect stranger.” Some of the deepest lyrics I’ve ever heard in my life.
It goes past that yes it’s a song and a resurgence of their comeback and a Grammy too. Go back much earlier in their career and look up the Barbara Walters interview where Natalie said she didn’t even have a million dollars in the bank. That was at the point of two diamond records. They sued the label and settled which changed record contracts for many artists in the future.
This still gives me chills all these years later. I also never fully realized how amazing this music video is, it doesn’t get enough credit. Such an engaging concept ❤🖤
God Bless these women for doing this song and taking the stand they did when they did. For someone who's somewhat constantly angry, this is a beacon of righteousness in this world i return to, time and time again.
People are literally choosing blind obedience to people who claim the other side is blindly obedient lol. So much so that I can’t tell from your comment what side of it you’re on but the obsession with racism suggests the left which seems to be devaluing the word and using it to demonize people they don’t agree with politically sooo… the people fight for the right to have their own opinions and not be silenced and forced into submission is the party that won the election though thankfully 😅
The most powerful and badass song in the history of country music... i respect the hell out of these ladies for standing their ground and standing up knowing the consequences
They didn’t know the consequences. It was outrageous, do you remember? It was unprecedented what happened. There were Dixie Chicks CD burning parties and it was cool in mainstream america to wish death upon them. Nobody could have known THOSE consequences when speaking an opinion in a country supposed to founded on personal liberty and freedom of speech.
I'm seeing my parents for the first time since the election (2024). I woke up this morning with this song in my head. How the woman who raised me to be strong and caring and empathetic could have voted for that man, I just don't know.
She was probably empathetic towards the man who lost his life protecting his kids at the trump rally, who would've lived if it weren't for all the DEI being shoved down everyone's throats. Maybe even towards the marine who died in Mexico due to the cartels, who are gaining even more power due to the current administrations cowardice. Maybe she wanted something a lil better.
Here’s a hint… you’re the problem, not her. If you can’t even take the time to consider their view points and opinions and would rather demonize them instead than you stand for everything this song was written to fight. People are not evil because they disagree with you and your moral superiority and lack of critical thinking skills is disturbing. Hopefully you wake up from woke in time to apologize to your parents for lacking the empathy and strength and intelligence to see them as actual human beings. It’s wild that you people think that everyone else is changing when yall are the ones making up new shit to force on people every 5 seconds that go against logic and facts and peoples rights.
@@jesslambert4819 she trashed the invasion of Iraq, not the U.S. generally. Given how often Country music stations criticise the government (as is their right), blacklisting them was pure hypocrisy. Since when did loyalty to the government become a hallmark of country music? Or any music?

ilovemusic555 was it really though? It was simply an award, they were still ruined career wise. They lost out on millions, but one thing I respect them for was not selling out. Today that’s all we get from celebrities. Most of them say one thing for attention and likes, but when push comes to shove they stand down or prove they never meant it. These ladies said no I mean tot and I don’t care the consequences. Those awards come from the same people that helped cause the mess in the first place.

@@fatimashah5311 It’s because the word Dixie is associated with the Confederacy. That was the name for the southern states that seceded after the Abraham Lincoln won the Presidency. The succession was the outbreak of the American Civil War(1861-1865). My ancestor arrived in 🇺🇸 in 1862. He was a 🥁 boy for the Union. Personally it wouldn’t bother me if they kept Dixie but I can’t speak for others especially not African Americans.
The Dixie chicks said what they said and people were mad about it. I respect these women for being angry and voicing how they feel. To me, you could NEVER cancel the Dixie chicks. I’m years older now and have been through my own stuff as a black woman and this song still resonates. I hope these artists know that they truly made an impact on me when I was younger . Just like listening to fancy by Reba as a poor girl. They really got it and I hope that one day they get the flowers they deserve for standing up for what they believed was right. These women are truly gems and I do hope that and pray that they are living their best lives. I am not even trying to be political but to me these are real women who stand beside what they say. I will respect that any day of the week. I’m still upset by some of the things I was put through and the Dixie chicks told me that it was okay to be upset.
Then how do you feel about them capitulating to the Woke mob and changing their names to "The Chicks" cause apparently Dixie is "white supremacy". And what if they capitulated again to the mob and decided "Chicks" was misogynist? Would they still be "brave" if they decided to bend all the way over and recite the words of the new religion and called themselves "The White-Privileged, Internalized-Racist And Self Hating, Misogynistic Menstruating Humans Who Were Assigned Female At Birth"?
The reaction to these women, their music, and their opinions made one thing certain. The US has always had flaws, over time many of us may have had seen over the years positive change or felt it, or hoped for it. People fought for civil rights or voting rights, etc & however weakened the laws were, they were solidified. However, after 9/11, it became absolutely certain if not immediately for some, 20 years for others; that our country is broken. It is deathly ill, and the time has come that there are vultures that will finish the job. People like you need to remain vocally opposed to the types these vultures will target with propaganda. Its not just home brewed propaganda. Its nation state level operations that are using the modern day nuclear weapon equivalent of propaganda with absurdly well targeted results. In fact, the money these countries used to spend on nuclear weapons is literally being used to fund these misinformation campaigns. Only way to solve it is off line. hear political bullshit nearing facism at a gas station? Say something. Let them know where you stand or else we will have our stances defined for us.

The Persian Gulf war was a total shitshow. Beginning to end. They took out Saddam, who was a despot they put into power in the first place, who tried to take over Kuwait, which had all the oil barons. As if the US even needed that. Texas alone produces more oil than them. It was a sadistic powergrab, against another one. It’s scary to know how brain washed I’d been during the era of this song’s release. Few things speak to the thoroughness of the brainwashing more perfectly than vitriol over the release of this song. I’d been a brain washed backwoods southern redneck, fundamental right when conservative Christian back then. I was a good girl and I did as I was told. I got mad when they told me to be mad. I hated who they told me to hate for as long as I could but it’s hard to hate when you REALLY believe the dogma they are shoveling. I hated as well as I could but when the love always outweighed the hate my nature went to war with my raising. When you live in a southern state, inside a southern city, inside of southern family where you are educated in a southern classroom and worship with a small backwoods, ignorant, redneck congregation all spewing the same exact agenda, when do you question it? When your whole reality, from institution to grave, all shares the same exact subverted Christian “values” what does it take to even know you might want to begin to question the facts you’ve been spoon feed? When do you start to question reality? Luckily for me, life reached out and bitch slapped me into next Tuesday so hard I had no choice. Thank God! I’d like to think my nature would’ve eventually overruled my nurturing but who knows? Just happy that I am no longer forced to hate strangers in the name of God becuase it just went the inherent grain of my nature.
The guts these ladies displayed is awe inspiring.Took unbelievable abuse ,and stood tall, never backed down.Their kind of courage is so rare now.

Freedom of Speech is a right!!! No one has the right to belittle or demean anyone for having an opinion
How do you feel about Trump supporters?
well actually they do, the Dixie Chicks expressed an opinion, most listeners of country decided they didn't like that opinion, they got boycotted for a while. i don't like that death threats were made, that's too much.

How very George W Bush & Dick Cheney of you
The Chicks are still here, and I'm always gonna support them.
So True.
I listen to this on repeat & always get chills.
I do too. My brother was serving in Iraq as I was called a traitor because I questioned why we were there. I am still not over that.

I'm with you, I feel exactly the same. Former USAF as well.
I do not want to comment or make guesses at his thoughts. they definitely got a lot of shit for a) being a country music act, while b) starting to talk shit about bush before it was a cool thing to do.
up to then, everybody had been pretty pleasant about bush. so in that way, she is a trendsetter, and ahead of her time by saying what a horrible idea the iraq war was.
however i sense that natalie wanted to do some shit talking, as she also attacked a toby keith song.
i get that she had something to say and has the right to do so, but she also picked a terrible time to do it. and exposed herself for being a trash talker, and that's not accepted by country fans.
it's also like she said one bad thing, and did the worst thing possible by saying more to, i guess, lean into it.

The most powerful and badass song in the history of country music... i respect the hell out of these ladies for standing their ground and standing up knowing the consequences
Hell yes!
Check out their new one called March March. They dropped Dixie off their name and are now known as The Chicks. Awesome song!
In the history of music period.
It's 2022 and this is still relevant.
Standing up for what's right always is.

All of this ❤
Then how do you feel about them capitulating to the Woke mob and changing their names to "The Chicks" cause apparently Dixie is "white supremacy".

I miss Natalie and her voice and the amazing violinists and vocals that came with her group . I was so fortunate to see you close up with Cheryl Crow. As women we need to stick together! Hope you keep the beautiful music going!
Still one of my favorites. Natalie continues to fight for democracy, decency, equality, and diversity with her words, music, using her platform and I dig it! People all of a sudden are just figuring this out and used their platform on social media to announce they’re no longer fans. Perhaps you never really understood what they represented. It’s not a Party issue, it’s a decency issue. It’s patriotic.
your last sentence says it all. It's patriotic to demand change and hold the government accountable.
@@victoriamayrose5219 Exactly. That's what every progressive gov't was designed to do. We're supposed to change.
Victoria Bernhart we saw how the last 8 years of " Change" worked out under 44. Slowest economic recovery ever and with 46 were going to get more of the same old. Change is a liberal fantasy.
Ayan P Change for the better, not the worse. People are sure going to miss 45.
Hello
Damn straight we're still here! Cuz I'm mad as hell!
I will **never** get tired of this. Even if it weren't about what happened, it is just spectacular songwriting and amazing music.
It’s beautiful. Not sure they could’ve written a better comeback song.
So. Much. Respect. Hell, I've got tears in my eyes.
mistyblueeyes me too but not any respect
Heartbreaking to be treated like this unbelievable
mistyblueeyes I’ll never have respect for these stupid horrible singers
I was born in Texas and I wouldn't have said I was a ashamed President Bush was from my home state of Texas. When I went to England to do comedy, shortly after what happened to the Dixie Chicks, I said I was ashamed President Bush pretends he's from my home state of Texas when he was born in Connecticut. F a y haters!
Just sent this to my father and husband who don’t want me to be angry and sad about what’s happening. I’m mad as hell and can’t bring myself to do what it is you think I should.
Everything is not what it seems. We're going to be okay. 💙🇱🇷
@@tikneshiabeauford7289 thank you kind person

Your poor husband. I'd have the papers in the mail ASAP
As an Aussie male of advanced years I say this to you....... stand up,take a deep breath & damn your critics. You are right in your feelings but you are not alone.Millions world-wide think this way.The song by The Dixie Chicks, which is what the groups true name is,say it succinctly.Truth will always win.Keep faith in yourself.Your father & husband are ethically wrong in trying to keep "the little lady" quiet. Be proud of your own self, you are NOT alone........
Who's still around listening to this great tune.this music is the closest thing we have to a time machine. I'm still listening ear buds in blasting that music and locked the world outside. October 2024!!!!

Who's here in 2023 and find this song still relevant today?
How about the first amendment this is the best show of telling people to go fuck themselves. They are so right no one else is.
2024 early most definitely relevant :)
here in 2024 find this song very relevant more so in this time in world history Good to know that some of us are on the right side of history
2024
2024 now more than ever!
This song still gives me chills
I hear you Chelsea. Look at the beauty of their art though and you will find their extreme intelligence and brilliance as singers/performers.
+Rozzy V. OMG! ! I couldn't have said it better myself, People get ready! !!!
Robert Ware I couldn't agree more!
One of the most powerful songs written. Who better to perform it
Jody Baliles powerful is the perfect word. This is the woman little girls should be looking up to.
Jody Baliles oh yeah
"Can't you just get over it?" No. Never.
Too bad
I understand how she feels. I'm not ready to make nice with some people in my life who have hurt me terribly as well.
"Cuz im mad as hell. Cant bring myself to do what it is you think i should"
This song is still so powerful and relevant today as it was then. If not more.
A true masterpiece of music here.
❤ the Dixie Chics and..
Wow.
Can Natalie sing.
Ikr
Rip Laura. When everyone else was to scared to speak out they did. Your passion for the truth will never be forgotten.
Wasn't Laura Lynch out of the band by 1997? This song came out in 2006 and it was Maines who spoke out against the Bush in 2003, right before the invasion of Iraq.
They were so badass. Inspiring young girls and women to stand up
Man, if I were looking back on this and she was my mom, I would be so proud. I hope her kids are.
Freedom of speech is a Right in this country.....God Bless the Dixie chicks
+Kent Beery They had and have that right. They were not arrested for saying what they said. However freedom of speech does NOT mean freedom from the consequences of said words. They had the right to say it & fans & the radio stations, etc had the right to boycott them in protest of their words.
@@buffyjosmom And that right to boycott only made them twice as big so I think radio stations best learn their lesson before they bury themselves with their lockstep nazi patriot propo catering. Natalie was 10000% right & everyone knew it. It's not unpatriotic to go "Yeah I don't like this thing about my country right now".
Hope those stations enjoyed the millions of call ins they got complaining. None of my friends listen to them anymore over it.
@@kaetunkhlynne9883 Wasn't just the radio stations deary. It was the fans doing the boycotting too. Made them bigger LOL ROTFLMBO where are they now, haven't toured or came out with a new album since this one LOL. Seems most Country music fans are quote unquote "Not Ready To Make Nice" with them either ROTFLMBO.
Its only a RIGHT nowadays, if its not the truth.I am a 100% Dixie Chick (Chick)fan and it saddens me that recording companies don't wanna go near them. They are robbing us of beautiful talent :( :(
Peace be to all x
@@buffyjosmom well I hope you are of the same opinion when advertisers boycott fox news ???
I was in an abusive relationship for 3 years. I realize this song was intended for political purposes. However, this song saved my life, and gave me the strength to leave and prosecute my abuser. Amazing to me a song intended for one purpose served another. Thank you Dixie Chicks
I think this song is much better as a song of being strong after a personal trial.
honey, i just got out of an abusive relationship as well. i am always here for you if you need someone to talk to!
So glad you made it out safe! God bless you
Glad you rose from the ashes and defeated your abuser!
God bless you strong woman!
This is so good. It is a perfect representation of being bullied. The video is priceless!
I WILL ALWAYS LOVE THIS SONG AND WHAT IT REPRESENTS. DIXIE CHICKS, YOU ROCK!!!
It's standing up for yourself when the times comes that is the difficult part but if you love yourself two and you care about yourself and what's right then you will doo
These ladies deserved better. Never back down girls. Always speak your truth. Don't ever let anyone silence you. I think it's time for a Dixie Chick reunion. I would be front and center.
That really touched my 💓

All these years later and I owe them an apology. I was wrong, we were wrong. They were canceled for speaking truth to power.

One of their best songs, maybe the best. But it ended their career. Living heroes!
+jammernaught They're doing a world tour now. I saw them on Saturday night, absolutely amazing. Their career isn't over!
+jammernaught www.dixiechicks.com/home-1
FarmerTom New music, yay!
This was their biggest hit on the Billboard Hot 100! Not sure it ended their career😉
Heroes to whom? They were red hot and made a lot of great music. Left leaning politics and country don't mix. Still...CMS won't play them. You think New York will? No market there!!! No offense, but maybe they should be The DQ.
"It's a sad, sad story
When a mother will teach her daughter
That she ought to hate a perfect stranger" ----ahhhh a time before social media, now we just have the parents doing it without consequence and the kid doesn't even have to be taught anything by them they can learn it online.
Sometimes I think that its more sad when a stranger can tell a mother to hate hrr only daughter?

This year has me thinking of the chicks once again. any time I am thinking about being an American, I think of them. I am so glad they are still here with us, and that they never backed down. love these girls so much! y'all give me hope when I need it, just by listening to your songs.
I absolutely LOVE THE DIXIE CHICKS!!! They have more balls than some men and stand up for what they believe in at any cost! You ladies will ALWAYS be The Dixie Chicks!!! This song is definitely one of my all time favorites!! Lots of ❤️ from Ohio ❤️
I absolutely support this ❤
They are just the chicks now stop calling them by the racist name that made them famous haha
@@lisaarchey7991 Its too bad they caved and changed it to the chicks. There is nothing racist about the word Dixie, I had a great aunt named Dixie, and a little dog too. People are just too hung up on the past. History is history, it cannot be changed or erased. Just learned from and improved upon. I love these women, they are strong and independent. Forever in my heart as The Dixie Chicks.
@@lisaarchey7991 ah yes, the typical 'noun that has various associations' dilemma- yet you have to linger on the one that's actually offensive - you're the REASON they changed their name to just 'the chicks' but I digress
@lisaarchey7991 I agree with you 💯 % they wanted change their name they hated being called tge dixie chick
As an Arab American who was a kid when all this war started, I felt very seen watching this music video on CMT back in the day. Finally seeing someone stand up to this and knowing that someone out there cared about the people actively affected by jingoist, warmongering bullshit changed my life. I still love this song today, and I’m so glad to see other Americans actually care about us during these times. Thank you, Natalie
I'm Australian, but I was in high school during the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. One of my classmates was an Afghani immigrant boy and I am proud to be able to honestly say from day one, just after 9/11, he was welcomed with open arms.
Then you should like trump. He wanted Bush to be impeached for Iraq war.
@@prodigiii712 then you should like Bernie Sanders. The first time I ever heard of him was during the debate while voting whether to go to war with Iraq he gave a hell of a speech against the invasion and voted against it.
@@Principaledpragmatist absolutely not Bernie is a sell out. He is a flip flop on open borders and immigration. He said open borders and mass immigration was Koch brothers idea to get cheap labor but now he is all for it.
@@prodigiii712 I was only saying that because you said someone should like Trump just because he was against the war, so I thought would point out so was Bernie. The main point I was making is you shouldn't be for a candidate based on one stance. Policy and politics are too complicated for that and I can probably find someone nearly the complete opposite of someone else on every other issue, who agree on one issue.
Well said girls from a conservative, soldier, drill sgt that watched you sing your heart's out at fort Jackson sc around 1998.
I didn't realize the power this sing had when it first first came out but damn does it strike a different chord today...
I love them. I was a teenager when G W sent my generation into his fake wars. It was hard to say anything against those wars. They paid a big price for speaking out ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Please do go into detail I need this lol
It was so disgusting, and of course as a teenager you're not allowed to have an opinion, even though you're allowed to go fight
The Dixie Chicks were the beginning of the Cancel Culture. They have always stood for what they believe in and it cost them dearly but we are excited to see them rising up again. So inspirational. Thank you Chicks for standing on the right side of history.
cancel culture started in the late 70s and particularly the 80s when Tipper Gore helped start a campaign to put warning labels on music and take sitocms off the air LOL
@@cheery-hex They are "The DIXIE Chicks". I never call a woman a "chick" -- demeaning.
Exactly, and the conservatives like to act like it's a liberal thing now. I remember what they did to the Dixie Chicks for being RIGHT AS HELL about Iraq and Dubya being the worst president in 100 years and then they backpedaled on alllll that shit with Trump who "never supported the Iraq War". Dad is Republican who I specifically remember supporting the Iraq invasion and voting (twice) for Bush who now says he never supported it just like all the other Republicans. 🤨
They are the opposite of "cancel culture" cancel culture is Republican nonsense and everything the chicks are against
@@eml5086 I mean, if they want to call themselves chicks its not exactly demeaning. As long as they are pissing off the right people, they can call themselves the giant headless chickens for all i care.
I know this will fall on deaf ears but I want to thank DChicks for raising me to have empathy, but also being to stand beside that. I'm still with you girls.
Why would this fall on deaf ears? I'm glad they've impacted you so deeply. Keep standing for empathy.
Same!
This song and the crap the music industry put these brave women through MADE ME A LIFELONG FAN.
For the record I am retired Marine 22 years and Black. When I saw them destroying their CD's that sparked me to ask, WHY?

I love this song, and ALL of their songs honestly!
I'm generally a Rock & Metal fan but these ladies have always exerted a power not usually heard in Country music.
Lots of people talk about Girl Power; this band IS Girl Power. ;-)
THIS is the fucking comment. Look at her face at the very last part of he song.. “I’m still waiting”
She’s serious as a $20 breakfast
Fun fact, the lead singer has a background in Rock music. She didn't really listen to Country until the Dixie Chicks approached her.

Ha, I went back to 1:47, insta-goosebumps. Thanks for the reminder, it's always nice to feel that.
Yes! That section alone sums what brilliant song writers (both lyrically and musically), musicians and singers they are. THAT is the definition of emotion through music.
I still get emotional when I hear this. This song came out right after my husband took his own life upon returning from deployment. The current political climate is stirring up a lot of old trauma.
All that lives that were ruined by the military ,,,, this song is for them
Sending hugs, if it's all right. I hear you, and I'm filled with compassion for you , and anyone else in a similar situation.

🧢
No, they weren't.
